interesting, considering how Takemura had contacted Dex this quick right after the incident. I think Dex might've all along had connections with Arasaka. Also, didn't yorinobu eventually turned out to be the good guy? and saburo/hanaka the bad?
A pretty popular fan theory is that Saburo actually planned for this, knew that Yorinobu would try to kill him, and created an engram of hinself. Saburo, a 158 years old man too strict to the rules, fighter in wwII and extremely loyal to the old Japanese Empire and its culture who forged him into a demanding autocrat of an evil corporation. Yorinobu is too young, too modern compared to his father, he is willingful to change the world, a misunderstood son raised into the best schools and by the best tutors, a son who always wanted but never had a remarkable father-child moment, a son who just wanted to be understood turned into a rebellious hateful son against his own ambitious parent. Yori hated all of this, he escaped with the steel dragons nomads in his prime trying to destroy his own father`s corporation but when he realized it was impossible from outside he came back and accepted to play the ”remissive son of the emperor and heir” part, so humiliating for him, but the plan was that to obey to his father, thinking one day or the other he would have died of old age, but so many years have passed and the stress became too much to handle until it burst out in a despicable act of patricide. Ok folks, my high weed relax moment is over xD
Fun fact Saburo Arasaka is voiced Masane Tsukayama. Japanese voice actor that offered voice in many anime. He is especially known as Zouken from Fate/stay night and Fate/zero. Shockingly Zouken and Saburo are nearly identical personality and character wise Both are terrifying zombie old man wearing traditional japanese outfit. Both are intelligent and incredibly cruel. In sense both stayed immortal by eating children. Both are neglectful fathers feeling disappointment of their children. Zouken being tired of his incompetent son and grandson. Saburo of his son. Also with voice of Masane Tsukayama are really terrifying.....x---x
Not enough credit goes to Yorinobu's mocap actor here. He absolutely nails the body language. You can see every thought going through Yorinobu's head before and after the murder, even in the times when he doesn't say a word
I do understand Yorinobu. His father lived for 150 years and had immortality within reach. With this he would have ruled forever, with no chance for Yorinobu to inherit anything. When he realized that stealing the immortality tech wouldn't be enough Yorinobu took more direct measures. Saburo certainly deserved death and neither Yorinobu or Hanako are much better.
In Cyberpunk's earlier lore, it's mentioned that: 1. Yorinobu started departing from the rest of the Arasaka family early on, when Saburo told him of the true purpose of Arasaka 2. Became a Rockerboy and was enamored with the idea of Anarchy and inspiring people to fight for their freedom - From that, stemmed the infatuation with Johnny SilverHand (which I believe is part of why he holds Silverhand's 'Relic' in his Safe in the first place) 3. He started a Gang against Arasaka, and was involved with the events leading to the Nuke detonation in 2024.
it isn't about inherit something. Saburo had 3 children, hanako and kei were literally worshipping their father dedicating their whole life to his aims, kei leaded arasaka last stand in NC during 4th corporate war to honorate his father ambitions, hanako probably spent decades to work on soulkiller and relic program to let his father be immortal. Yorinobu understood since his youth that his father was just a monster who wouldn't stop before anything in order to reach his goals, so he went rouge and made his own biker gang and a personal following of other anti-arasaka/corporation punks with the intent to strike arasaka down. Yorinobu helped also japanese government to seize arasaka assets but despite arasaka defeat at the end of the 4th corporate war, yorinobu understood that arasaka could be destroyed only from within, so exploiting saburo's sorrow for kei's death, he came back home asking to be forgiven and he was progressively re-integrated in the family business but yorinobu plans didn't change since arasaka became way more unstable across the years out of internal factions struggles: The conservative kiji of hanako and saburo opposed to the more "hostile" taka of yorinobu and in minor part opposed to the "NUSA progressive" hato of michiko arasaka (kei arasaka daughter), after she was welcomed back in the family. Yorinobu stole the relic prototype because was hired by netwatch who wanted the chip because afraid that silverhand engram could be used by hostile parties to open a breach inside the blackwall and interface with alt cunningham and other AI behind blackwall (basically the transmission quest). Netwatch hired yorinobu to get the chip, voodoo boys hired evelyn parker (yorinobu's mistress) to get the chip
@@giovannibalsamo6178Yep. Yorinobu had no interest in becoming the leader of Arasaka like his father did. The power it offered never interested him. He wanted to burn it all down. As the saying goes, an Empire that is toppled by its enemies can rise again. That's what happened even after the destruction Arasaka suffered during and after the 4th Corperate War. But an Empire that crumbles from within dies forever.
Watching the death of the most powerful god of the cyberpunk universe right in front of me was shocking as fuck. Memorable and historic moment that is.
The music here perfectly conveys what's happening. A son killing his father, as well as the death the most powerful person alive, all being witnessed by a couple thieves in way over their head.
I physically recoiled at this scene as if I was actually there, In V and Jackie’s position. And then Jackie’s words brought me back home. The pure disbelief at what they witnessed and knowing that it’s much larger than them. You can literally hear it in their voices knowing that they shouldn’t be seeing this YOU, shouldn’t be seeing this. Welcome to the major leagues huh?
One of my favorite mission ever given in a videogame, I was on the edge of my seat when all of this was happening scared too of Adam Smasher in the corner.
@@elgrandosmokio7882Adam Smasher is staring at you and Jackie the whole time, as well as a few other small details indicating he scanned the room and instantly found you. He just didn't say anything.
One thing I like is that Smasher actually knows you're there. I presume he says nothing because of the fact that you'd be a good alibi for Yorinobu's plan.
Honestly I find it kinda funny how Smasher just stands there staring blankly at you, like a child who's just walked up to his parents cause they called him
I just noticed something, saburo intentionally let his son kill him, since we find out he has an engram of himself it could be the engram thought of every possibility and this was the one where it could go wrong and right at the same time. To further prove this, just look at how saburo let's himself be in a vulnerable position. Saburo also just happens to drop by during a huge heist? It's like the AI knew every little thing that would happen.
After all of the lead-up that led to the sequence of Events that Occurred in this room ending with Saburo's death, the game never delivered on what was promised unfortunately, But goddamn I truly was glued to my screen when this happened. Such a shocking moment with such huge ramifications that just seem to peter out.
This mission was top-tier. The game never really managed to reach the same heights as Act 1 did which is a shame. Guess now we know why all their marketing focused on this specific act and not the others.
Jack was shot in stomach, so nanobots that are programmed to make neural conections probably could not save him, you were skot in head, so they made some johnny silverhand to save you
After I read his and his company’s bio I knew that he’s more than a man. He shouldn’t be afraid of. Just because if you see him in person - you’re a dead meat. Fear of him, respect him - it doesn’t matter at all. Surprised when he didn’t rip Yorinobu in two pieces with some additional arms from the back or something. After that I knew that his death means nothing to him, that he surely had a plan. That he’s still around. Saburo is a Buddha.
Well, they had chance to get out of plaza safely by saving Saburo in that moment, especially in corpo path. Man really had honor, two lives for two would be good offer. Chip would be lost, but it wouldn't matter anyways, Dex and Parker wouldn't live long with aware Saburo. I was so triggered by this cutscene, you can't even move to do something.
unfortunate because no game would do that since it would create an entirely branching story from the start and basically end up writing two games. It would be hella impressive though.
@@jonsong4592 Remember Far Cry and its fast endings in the start of the game? just throw here fast ending with grateful Saburo who employes V and credit rolls
saburo's killing was pretty damn justified, whatever V, Takemura, Jackie, hanako or anyone would think... yorinobu has been fighting what his father has built with Arasaka the whole life.
Spoiler for whoever reads this but I find it funny Saburo says the heart should break only but once yet he’s making people into engrams including himself which really goes against what he says since in a way it gives the heart a chance to break again in a manner of speaking
fun fact. Adam Smasher can see you but chooses not to fuck your shit up on the spot. If you have the detect enemies thing, it highlights the enemies that've already seen you. Adam has seen you, considers you harmless if you try anything, and lets you be. Paraphrased from some other youtube comment.
Bro saboru knows v and jackie are the walls from the way he looks directly at them when hes not talking to his son. He turns his head to talk to his son directly in the eyes. When he mentions the nail in the wall quote, hes looking right at them. i feel like saburo purposely sent his bodyguards away to intentionally antagonize his son to get him to kill him. A bit of a reach but remember theres a emgram copy saboru. This could be a way give his son a bad reputation to the company and complete dishonor to the his family. Make them feel no guilt or remorse when the time comes to impant saburo's engram to his son's body. I think a man like saboru is very calculated and not dumb enough to just die like this. He 5 steps ahead and he useing his death as a opportunity.
To be fair, Saburo had it coming. While Yorinobu is a deranged psychopath, he’s a bit more “good” on the morality scale than his pops. His methods are questionable, but again, Saburo had it coming.
Gods, saburo's word hurts so much, to the point I don't have any much sympathy for him offed by yorinobu, I can imagine maybe yorinobu loves his mother so much to the point he lost his already poor control of his anger, if it wasn't for Takemura, ill betray hanako in a heartbeat
ngl i was a lil hyped and was like "Ayy!! hopefully V gets to take full control of Arasaka!!" but then i was like damn thats not gonna happen. :/ :( would've been mad cool though. Wish they would have let you do more stuff within Arasaka when you're apart of it as a Corpo.
Fanfic time: after killing Saburo, Yorinobu, knowing there are thieves in the room, forces them to return the Relic, and inserts it into Saburo's dead body. Then Silverhand slowly overrides Saburo's mind, while V and Jackie play the scapegoats and are forced to run
If only Saburo appeared a few hours, or a day later... The heist would probably go smooth, and Jackie would survive. But i actually didn't even want to take down Yorinobu, his father was an evil bastard and totally deserved death. Yorinobu hates his father and his evil corporation, and after killing Saburo he starts destroying corporation from the inside. He isn't a good man, but he is the best Arasaka, that's for sure. I never really wanted to follow Takemura's plan on exposing Yorinobu, though i kind of liked Takemura. He died in my playthrough though, so i ditched the plan and went with Panam and the Aldecaldos
How dafuq does nobody notice the airwaves of this mans body was cut off by strangulation??? Cops in 2019 can figure that out! Poisoning?! Seriously!?!?
They likely conducted a private investigatoion, one through which Yorinobu could control the evidence of. Despite the executive board of Arasaka being told that he was poisoned (which most of them didn't believe in the first place), the official cause of death released to the public was natural causes.
After learning more about what Saburo had planned for Yorinobu and the true purpose for why he was born? Can't say I blame the man for killing him. Never do the Devil ending. Leave the guy alone, Zero Adam Smasher and fuck-up Arasaka Tower. Seriously, you're doing him and the world a massive favour by doing those 3 things.
It's hinted that yorobo just didn't like his father. Since they both share differently on how "their future" Is sold to the westerners. It's said that they hadnt talked eye to eye for over 20 years
I believe Yorinobu would never have a "future" as her father would have a plan for immortality, Yorinobu would always live in her father's shadow, Yorinobu's actions are questionable, But he wasn't so wrong, somehow, Yorinobu wanted to change this Destiny that awaited him, becoming the "Black Sheep" of the family.
Not only is Saburo literally the biggest and most powerful villain in the Cyberpunk universe, he was also planning to use the Relic to transfer his engram to Yorinobu's body and achieving pseudo-inmortality that way. Yorinobu most likely knew or at least heavily suspected of this plan for a long time now.

Fun fact Saburo Arasaka is voiced Masane Tsukayama. Japanese voice actor that offered voice in many anime.
He is especially known as Zouken from Fate/stay night and Fate/zero.
Shockingly Zouken and Saburo are nearly identical personality and character wise
Both are terrifying zombie old man wearing traditional japanese outfit.
The contrast in body language between him and Saburo was really striking. Both were perfect for their characters.
I was just bummed you can't loot Saburo's outfit. That'd look perfect on my cyber samurai build
You wouldn't want to see a 150 year old man's body do ya?
@@sxrub3310 Compared to the human chop-shop in "The Rescue" prologue mission, I doubt the sight would be that bad.
@@sxrub3310 In nothing but a fundoshi or possibly even naked? No thanks, I’ll pass.
In Cyberpunk's earlier lore, it's mentioned that:
1. Yorinobu started departing from the rest of the Arasaka family early on, when Saburo told him of the true purpose of Arasaka
2. Became a Rockerboy and was enamored with the idea of Anarchy and inspiring people to fight for their freedom - From that, stemmed the infatuation with Johnny SilverHand (which I believe is part of why he holds Silverhand's 'Relic' in his Safe in the first place)
Yes you're this momento is really shocking
Smasher is just standing there. And staring into your soul
Bro Smasher look like a Character straight out from Metal Gear rising
The music here perfectly conveys what's happening. A son killing his father, as well as the death the most powerful person alive, all being witnessed by a couple thieves in way over their head.
Bruhhhhh
I was shocked watching this scene, and the music sent chills down my spine
I physically recoiled at this scene as if I was actually there, In V and Jackie’s position. And then Jackie’s words brought me back home. The pure disbelief at what they witnessed and knowing that it’s much larger than them. You can literally hear it in their voices knowing that they shouldn’t be seeing this YOU, shouldn’t be seeing this. Welcome to the major leagues huh?
Same, it’s the music that really sells it. The death of the emperor followed by that sense of dread and the need to gtfo
9:56 that vehicle and line / sound is super badass. The way things get translated via cybernetics in time in general is super cool.
Yeah I was like ok I must be in some yakuza game now with all the Japanese happening
One of my favorite mission ever given in a videogame, I was on the edge of my seat when all of this was happening scared too of Adam Smasher in the corner.
8:00 is such a cool alpha moment. Hierarchical Asian check. At this moment I realised Yorinobu aint playin B)
To think adam knows you’re hiding the whole time
What ?
@@elgrandosmokio7882Adam Smasher is staring at you and Jackie the whole time, as well as a few other small details indicating he scanned the room and instantly found you. He just didn't say anything.
One thing I like is that Smasher actually knows you're there. I presume he says nothing because of the fact that you'd be a good alibi for Yorinobu's plan.
Holly shit never think about the alibi thing, nice detail
This was an epic scene to say the least.
When I realized Smasher was looking directly at us, a grain of rice wouldn't fit into my asshole I was so tensed up...
I couldnt believe my eyes
T Bug’s death scream is haunting. Voice actor did a fantastic job.
6:36 despite being choked by his son, he still shows compassion to his son, it hurt me.
Honestly I find it kinda funny how Smasher just stands there staring blankly at you, like a child who's just walked up to his parents cause they called him
just a stereotypical rich asian family meeting
i dont care what people say about bugs, bugs will be fixed. This game is a fucking masterpiece!
Amazing voice acting. Perfect. Every single scene.
JUSTICE FOR YORINOBU
way to go, Yorinobu! king behavior, absolutely justified, zero judgment, absolute understanding
Saburo witnessed the release of "Back to the Future" and lived up to the future
Saburo's voice acting is the reason I have begun learning Japanese. So fucking damn cool!
This scene would make a great stage play, it’s a great dramatic piece.
Such good writing here!! When he chokes his father, my jaw dropped, i was NOT expecting that
When you realize Saburo’s voice actor is the same as Gold Roger (Second Voice) in One Piece.
After all of the lead-up that led to the sequence of Events that Occurred in this room ending with Saburo's death, the game never delivered on what was promised unfortunately,
But goddamn I truly was glued to my screen when this happened.
Such a shocking moment with such huge ramifications that just seem to peter out.
After finishing the game and replaying it - I cheer for Yorinobu...
This mission was top-tier. The game never really managed to reach the same heights as Act 1 did which is a shame. Guess now we know why all their marketing focused on this specific act and not the others.
Just imagine, if they knew, they could simply let the relic stay in Jackie's head (after he dies) and V just simply could have another friend!
Truly BREATHTAKING scene
one of the best moments in gaming, the music in this scene gives me chills
6:34 Is that Saburo trying to reach his hand to touch Yorinobu as Yorinobu is trying to kill him? Dang...

The voice of that drone is next-level shit
Spoiler for whoever reads this but I find it funny Saburo says the heart should break only but once yet he’s making people into engrams including himself which really goes against what he says since in a way it gives the heart a chance to break again in a manner of speaking
Thanks for the treat! Have a nice day~
That ost have that death stranding violin feel
I will never not hear Zouken speaking during this scene.
The music is actually insane holy fuck
when you don’t expect to witness a murder scene
Can’t believe Gol D. Roger was not only a legendary pirate but a huge corpo rat
To be fair, Saburo had it coming. While Yorinobu is a deranged psychopath, he’s a bit more “good” on the morality scale than his pops. His methods are questionable, but again, Saburo had it coming.
Why? Explain.
I feel like goro is stronger than smasher
Was that a JG ring on saboru's index finger?
Having a ring on the index ring has way more meaning then you think.
Gods, saburo's word hurts so much, to the point I don't have any much sympathy for him offed by yorinobu, I can imagine maybe yorinobu loves his mother so much to the point he lost his already poor control of his anger, if it wasn't for Takemura, ill betray hanako in a heartbeat

wait can you loot arasaka's dead body? 😅
Saburo? There is not important things
Yeah you can loot his body for ident tags that allow you to loot his aircar for a sweet iconic Katana
Nah but you can loot his helicopter upstairs to get saburos katana
ngl i was a lil hyped and was like "Ayy!! hopefully V gets to take full control of Arasaka!!" but then i was like damn thats not gonna happen. :/ :( would've been mad cool though. Wish they would have let you do more stuff within Arasaka when you're apart of it as a Corpo.
Saburo's voice actor IS Saburo!
Takemura looks so cool with red eyes....
I don't think Saburo has any implants that would let him insert the Relic Shard into him like most people do.
Can someone explain me why the fuck we don't capture the scene ingame with our bionic eyes ?? It seems quite logical to keep a proof ...
2:58 Adam Smasher
3:18 Saburo Arasaka
4:29 the way Jackie comments with his tone and complement
This is why I would want my personal bodyguard(s) with me at all times. At. All. Times!
Anyone knows that song at 6:30 when Saburo gets killed it is so amazing and intense.
You shall never have to forgive me again.
@@LeandroMS63 Thank you!
He died in my playthrough though, so i ditched the plan and went with Panam and the Aldecaldos
bro pulled an evangelion on him
What happened to t bug? After this mission she just straight up vanished from the game as if never there lol
She dies in the mission. It's when you ask for her to help you get out and she gets remote hack killed and you hear her scream
You should be able to found her body tho, like dex, don't mean she's alive just creators could think about it
How dafuq does nobody notice the airwaves of this mans body was cut off by strangulation??? Cops in 2019 can figure that out! Poisoning?! Seriously!?!?
They likely conducted a private investigatoion, one through which Yorinobu could control the evidence of. Despite the executive board of Arasaka being told that he was poisoned (which most of them didn't believe in the first place), the official cause of death released to the public was natural causes.
@@pizzaface117 i don't think yorinobu even let anyone inspect the body

After learning more about what Saburo had planned for Yorinobu and the true purpose for why he was born? Can't say I blame the man for killing him. Never do the Devil ending. Leave the guy alone, Zero Adam Smasher and fuck-up Arasaka Tower. Seriously, you're doing him and the world a massive favour by doing those 3 things.
Why would he kill his own father ?
I really love this scene 6:30
