Say and think what you want of her, but in the 80's that woman was already 20 years ahead of her time ! It s safe to bet that in 2040 she still will be very much present because what she is and represents today will be (over) emulated 💜💜💜
This Song is from the album True Blue.... One of the best albums of Madonna ever..... Songs today can never match the energy and connection of those in the 80s and 90s....
It s not fair to say this song and video finally got the treatment they deserved because they ve been sooooooo big back in the 80's, but still, so good to watch it in HD ! Timeless.
Those who know will remember what an EVENT it was every time Madonna released a new album. What would the videos be like? What would her new look be? The TV interviews, the references to her from other areas of the entertainment and political world. Her LGBTQ+ advocacy back when it wasn't well supported. Personally, to this day, one of her upbeat songs can lift my mood, and I appreciate that.
One of the cool things about this video is that you can imagine there being a whole backstory about each of the people visiting the show, each with slightly different motivations. It really has a great atmosphere
The "THE ICON" the "G.O.A.T" The first video I saw of Madonna as a child Christmas of 1987. My sisters who were 18 or 19 at the time were watching this on MTV. Madonna once again blends her beauty, elegance, seduction and chill all in one package. EVEN TODAY! YOU NEVER DISAPOINT!👍🏽💪🏾👏🏾
I've never seen the video to this song before, but it's great. The audience members (especially the two sailors) all give off this feeling that they have lives and stories outside of the tiny window we see them through. The setup of the kid waiting and then reuniting with Madonna makes the overall story about a 'day in the life' of a dancer, who performs in this dreamlike semi-secret world but has a life outside of her job and family waiting for her. It's humanizing the participants of an activity that most of society condemns.
The story being told in this video is very interesting. The little boy waiting outside and not being allowed inside, he represents 'innocence' a purity that is untainted and uncorrupted, and the childlike wonder that we often lose as we grow older and go through life. It's possible he represents Madonnas innocence. She is partaking in a peep show, dancing, performing for the benefit of men. They look upon her as nothing more than an object of desire, yet they are prevented from.actually interacting with her the way they would like, which is showcased by the frustration they display by banging on the walls of their cubicles. The end of the video with Madonna going off with the little boy, it could be a symbolic representation of Madonna taking back her innocence, her sense of childlike wonder and playfulness, the fact that she emerges from the peep show wearing an outfit identical to the little boy's outfit is significant.
It's both Marlene Dietrich in "The Blue Angel" (she was bisexual, but didn't use that word) and a sly insinuation of Rita Hayworth, with the move using the glove ("Gilda"). Her outfit (Lacroix?) resembles Rita's famous dress during the drunken dance scene in "Gilda". This video is timeless, to those who notice such things. More on the "Gilda" theme: Rita Hayworth's character was seen as a "whore" by her ex. When the movie opens, he's been recruited to run a gambling operation for what turns out to be Gilda's husband. The ex hates Gilda and still loves her, at the same time. Their angsty relationship in the movie, inspired this song, "Open Your Heart", it seems to me. Also, Rita and Glenn Ford might have had a similar relationship, offscreen.
How could anyone not love this song??? The ending with her and the kid running around is literally the oppimity of mine and my best friends relationship. We always have fun wherever we go.❤❤
The boy is madonna. Is her returning to her innocence. The original thought was a girl, since madonna identifies as one, but after the final treatment with the pinup show it appeals to people who only see surface ( most likely you) and it seems like a boy coming of age and yet the entire thing is madonna kissing herself and returning to innocence and not letting fame get to her since she is watched all the time and slut shamed.
@@aidanmorris2231 interesting idea. Tbh, that is a much more palatable thought than my initial reaction, which was "wtf?!". I've never seen this video before and am here because I'm binging Glee and finding every song's original on TH-cam. I was a little shocked and grossed out when she kissed the kid. Especially perfect when they show boy looking at naked image of Madonna. And when she kisses him in lips. Everything what they show is nothing to do with heart and love. It simply lust, nakedness and animal instinctinct. Once you know the truth why they show such things, you ll understand what these so called stars and Hollywood in general do behind closed doors. A lot of these things related to kids and babies. Hollywood is fully controlled place with lots of dark side and illusion of beautiful life.
People can say what they want about Madonna but one thing for sure she will always be fierce and legendary she paved they way for those female artists today we love you Madonna stay fierce always ❤️
Simply incomparable. Everything, absolutely everything that came after her does not reach her feet. She is forever. She overflows my eyes, my soul and my heart of joy. She is top. Incomparably the best.

Thats true in some way but Like a virgin made her a global sensation True blue made her a powerfull commercial artist Like a prayer made her a true artist for critics.

@@rebelblue It's not an exaggeration. Production values were so much higher in the 80's. There was still musicianship in the studios, though that was definitely on the decline by 1986.
@@manuginobilisbaldspot424 You make no sense. How did musicianship start to decline in 1986 when this song came out in 1987? Mucisianship actually fell by 1991 with the sad advent of grunge music which destroyed much of the progress 80s music put out

A lot of these things related to kids and babies. Hollywood is fully controlled place with lots of dark side and illusion of beautiful life.

THIS VIDEO IS AMAZING!!!! MADONNA IS THE BEST SELLING FEMALE ARTIST OF ALL TIME!!!!!
+Harrell Annon No introduction required eh !
Good!
People can say what they want about Madonna but one thing for sure she will always be fierce and legendary she paved they way for those female artists today we love you Madonna stay fierce always ❤️
This is Madonna's best vocals on all of her music. Her voice doesn't sound nasal or sweaky. It sounds strong.
100% agree!
She sounded great during the ray of light era
That's because she sounds like a black chick. That's what they would say about her high school...they thought she was a black woman.
Correct
She wanted to present a more grownup image. Wanted to distance herself from the girly vocals from songs like Material Girl and Like A Virgin.
Just iconic. Nothing else to say really. This music from Madonna will be played for years and years to come.
Best ever! Ciao Italia! 🇮🇹

I still remembe that this song topped the charts in early 1987,such a great time for music and movies at that time. Love you Madonna 👑❤️
Madonna
I LOVE Madonna
PERFECT!
I often wonder just how much bigger Madonna would of been if she had come along in the social media era.
Exactly 💯👍
Haven’t heard this in probably 30 years. It holds up wonderfully, all of it. Outstanding work.
Dunno under which rock you lived during those 30 years, but welcome back, the party is still ongoing.
🐐♥️🎸🔥👍
Simply incomparable. Everything, absolutely everything that came after her does not reach her feet. She is forever. She overflows my eyes, my soul and my heart of joy. She is top. Incomparably the best.
Like A Virgin was Madonna's catalyst, True Blue is when her global star power reached the stratosphere.
The album is a 10/10 and no one will change my mind.
Totally agree. I like her single “Whiteheat” from this album as well. Too bad that it wasn’t released as a single.
True Blue is one of the best crafted pop albums of all time.
In my top 5 favorites of her albums.
@I Think The Fuck Not You Trick Ass Bitch
Yeah JimmyJimmy was just an album-filler.
That's probably my favourite album from her ❤️
I always say Madonna has the best voice . Even in hundreds artists you can easily distinguish her by her voice .
I've loved Madonna's music, style and most importantly, her evolution and masked rebellion towards things which are normal. She's the Queen!

her beauty is so versatile throughout the years, long hair or short, brunette or blonde!
Madonna - fever
Madonna ruled the 80's/90's with her style of music!
What a beautiful song and a beautiful Madonna. She definitely made her mark in this world since back then.
Madonna's True Blue album is her greatest work during the 80s. This track is my favorite
Thats true in some way but
Like a virgin made her a global sensation
True blue made her a powerfull commercial artist
Like a prayer made her a true artist for critics.
And ray of light made her a smart artist and more trasncendental
Maybe I'm too young but I know she is the greatest queen of pop!!!
+Gifty Zanesuag i'm 13 and i love madonna too :)
+Gifty Zanesuag great to know this gen appreciates good music
I know she is the greatest queen!
+Sweet Anonymous Which is your favorite Madonna song?
the greatest queen!
This wasn't the most successful song of 1986 because the most successful song of that year was "Papa don't Preach" by the Queen Madonna ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
That is too funny 😂😂😂
It was the first number one song of 1987 though.
hahahha
Megan Smith this was also famous bitchhh, at least in Europe it was a hit
"Open Your Heart"
Written by Gardner Cole and Peter Rafelson, it was conceived as a rock and roll song titled "Follow Your Heart" for singer
Cyndi Lauper
Her angle was to shock, but her musical talent was even more impactful
POP perfection. Just like the woman herself.
*the end always gets me. I used to always live vicariously through that kid every time I watched this. The end really makes the video that much cooler*
She has 264 Worldwide number 1 hits 💟
This is actually a very, very well put together song. Modern pop does not hold a candle to this.
Well, let's not exaggerate, Madonna herself got much more great songs, even better than this song later in her career, for example Frozen.
@@rebelblue It's not an exaggeration. Production values were so much higher in the 80's. There was still musicianship in the studios, though that was definitely on the decline by 1986.
We'll only Madonna's modern pop like mdna and Rebel heart and Madame X
@@rebelblue That's not true. This song is her top 5 songs ever. You don't know music
@@manuginobilisbaldspot424 You make no sense. How did musicianship start to decline in 1986 when this song came out in 1987? Mucisianship actually fell by 1991 with the sad advent of grunge music which destroyed much of the progress 80s music put out
I was 12 in the summer holidays of 1986; my dad bought me True Blue on cassette as a reward for getting a decent school report. Happy memories of listening to it on a Walkman while on rollerboots in the sun
My god, that is so 80s I love it
So cool story!
I was 12 too awesome i remember the impact this music had it was great being a kid playing sports and having this
Yeah
Now we are in happy 48....2023. .. saludos from baja California México
MADONNA IS A CULTURE ICON ❤
I have loved this track since I first heard it in '86. Yes, I'm still enthralled by her. She is genius, just enough, just when you need it...that is her magic.
so many small intricate details I've never seen until this time. the attention to detail is crazy
I used to listen at OPEN YOUR HEART st 12 ... now I Am 39 and keep on listening. Madonna Queen of modernism

Exactly! Forever Madonna!!!
+MrRD1981 Madonna forever!!!!!
+Gifty Zanesuag In 1987, Madonna already had the Pop Queen's crown on the head.
It was crowned in 1985, after the media gave the King of Pop title to Michael Jackson.
