    Agree with all the reason you bring up! I’ve done a lot to my own but the handling alone is one of the things I love most. Also, (if you really know what you’re doing) how easy it is to work on the car and that it doesn’t need a lot of maintenance. So easy to customize to your own taste with the aftermarket. Even before I changed anything the rumble it would give off on start up was just something I love. Definitely need to do upgrades for mfd and radio but even the stock stuff was great.

    • @Autofreakgarage

      Depends on your goals and budget, as a WRX owner I LOVE my WRX but I couldn't afford a STI. STI envy is real, get what you want. That rumble, BBK, and badge hold a lot of weight lol. One day ill upgrade.

    • @Autofreakgarage
      @Autofreakgarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      xRaviing absolutely. And there is nothing bad to say about the wrx. It’s all about progression and the process. It makes you appreciate everything much more when you work your way up.

    • @Motocrosser1222

      I'm having a hard time choosing between the two as well. I can get a 2016 STI Limited with 34K miles for just under $23,000 or get a 2017 or 2018 WRX with similar mileage for the same price. I have wanted an STI forever but the WRX seems like it will be cheaper to own and generally seems more reliable. Does anyone have any input if I should go with or not go with the STI?

  • @DjRuBSP

    I second all your reasons.
    The STI is such a pleasure to drive with the handling and power.

    I traded in my MK7 GTI to get the 2020 STI. I had that car for 3 years and absolutely loved it, but I decided to jump on what's speculated to be the final EJ STI and I'm so happy I did.

    Things I like about the STI:
    1) EJ25 rumble
    2) AWD, although not exclusive to STI
    3) Styling of the car
    4) Aftermarket support.

  • @EagleLogic
    @EagleLogic 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Such an enjoyable car to drive. I had a '15 STI, LOVED it, sold it for a Tesla, and got bored of that car in a week. Now I just sold my Tesla and picked up a 2020 STI. I feel right back at home now. I wanna be in control, I want a third pedal, shift my gears how I damn please. The Tesla was quick, but my god being quick does not necessarily mean fun. It was SO boring.

    • @Autofreakgarage
      @Autofreakgarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wise words my friend! The car doesn’t have to be the fastest thing in the world. As long as it brings joy to your day, that’s all that matters.

    • @EagleLogic
      @EagleLogic 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Autofreakgarage Thanks man! Exactly bringing joy is key, and damn I can't help but smile at least at some point during a drive just since I love it. Great video by the way! Your points are exactly the reasons why I fucking love STI. I'm torn between the Invidia r400 and a non resonated perrin. Which one would you go with personally if you were in my shoes? I had Nameless Axleback on my '15, but wanna get a full cat and preferably legal this time around

    • @Autofreakgarage
      @Autofreakgarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      EagleLogic depends on what you are going for. R400 is louder than the Perrin and it drones a bit. I had a nameless catback on my wrx and loved it. Currently running a delta motor works catback and love it too. But between your two choices, I prefer the r400’s tone over the Perrin.

    i've been a life long fan of subaru, and still am a big fan of subaru
    let's face it, subaru isn't known for a great design, luxury nor being the fastest. It's got a great pricing point, great reliability (depending on how you play with the motor/mechanics), relatively cheap to maintain, fun to drive, and that motor I agree sounds 100x better than any E46 engine or F80s (don't know about E9x...lol)
    With that said, however, STI lately has been a great 90 point car to me...it's a great 90 point car, but never a 100 pt car. I like it but i don't love it. I don't necessarily think i'll own it more than 3 yrs...Cars like MK4 R32, B7 RS4, E90 M3, Evo 9, I drive it, look at it, experience it and think "I want this in my garage for a long time", i don't know...I just don't feel it with the recent STIs

    • @Autofreakgarage
      @Autofreakgarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      And that’s totally ok. And pretty much how I feel. It’s a 90 car for me. It’s not all the way there, but it does it well for my needs currently. I’m a dad of 2 and wanted something fun and manual and cheap to maintain and mod. It fit the bill and currently no real need to change other than just to try something different. But you are right. It’s not a forever car for me as well. Just a part of my car journey.

  • @youknowme...1840
    @youknowme...1840 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's your car. If you love it, that's the best! Subaru & STI recommend you to change the engine oil 1~2 a year. So, it's about each 5000km. As long as you give clean oil to your machine, your buddy will be fine.

    Is this your daily driver? How do you prevent the paint chips? My 18 has so many 😭

    • @Autofreakgarage
      @Autofreakgarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Drive it everyday. I don’t do highway driving, just backroads mostly. I try my best to stay away from cars and don’t tailgate. I have a few little chips since it is inevitable, but it’s pretty clean for 25k miles.
