I prefer old style gymnastics where it's about strength, control, flexibility and beauty / ballet style, instead of the tumbling and power competition it's becoming. It was more interesting, and more within the spirit of the origins of gymnastics.
I like both styles. As an old ballet dancer, I could do many of the beam skills in the old style. It's nice to see more tumbling on the beam. But, I really enjoy all of it.
Holy moly! Hypolito's mount just blew me away! Why isn't this mount still around?!?! Mo Huilan...wow, single hand handstand and even did a 1/4 turn on one hand.
What was remarkable about Hypolito was she was at the 2003 worlds… and RIO 2016!! Some serious longevity, like Oksana. And Liu Xuan… what a deserving Olympic champion!!
@@JefersonSantos-bt1ef no she didn’t unfortunately. If she had come along just a few years later she might have been on this year’s team- and gotten one. She definitely helped pave the way for the Brazilian women of today.
@@theire483I was just watching a video that explained that a bit more and it’s kind of a bummer. They were showing 5 balance beam mounts you won’t see anymore and one of them consisted of getting up onto the beam into a one-handed split leg handstand. And like, I get that it’s not a super powerful move, but damn, the control and balance needed for that is pretty impressive I would think.
@@imamajesticseahorse2548 I've seen it.... (I've been a gymnastics fan since the 70s, used to flip around a lot myself). A great example of it not being worth it is what they did to Biles (2019). They down-graded her specific moves because no one else could do them.
@@CHRISTALMOUNTAIN Rack off. Are you a two time Olympian, former world champion and have E level skills named after you, as she does? No? Then sit in the corner of shame and don't opine on skills you obviously know nothing about.
These uniforms have no class. They’re degrading. Why aren’t gymnasts allowed to have adequate amounts of fabric covering themselves. Also they need to quit straddling the beam. It looks awkward and uncomfortable. Not to mention ungraceful.

File a complaint with FIG then.
Look up Manila Esposito. She has the old school grace. (If you don't know of her already).
Liu Xuan wasn't the originator of that mount, tho
“It’s maybe not as difficult” being a former gymnast I would love to see the spectator go ahead and get it lmao

absolutely. sadly she never won an olympic medal

2nd one.
By Daniele Hypolito of Brazil.
Was most impressive.
Daniele Hypólito on the List. I think it was the hardest mount 😊❤
"Not all that difficult" coming from someone who has never attempted a neck mount!
Danielle Hypólito maravilhosa!!!!
Melhor entrada de todas
OMG I loved Khorkina to death, so long and graceful.
It’s sad that we no longer see this from the current gymnasts
You don't see a lot of these is because the point system has changed over the years. Meaning, it's just not worth it.
@@theire483 yes I meant to write gymnastics, bc of how much the point system has changed

@@theire483In which case, the points system is wrong and should be changed back.
They all were cool. Lauren Mitchell from Australia was really different though
Yea, complete nonsense xD

that chinese girl busting out a one-arm...i love those controlled handstand mounts! and the press handstands... so awesome.
Dominique!
Guan Chenchen’s mount combo is also amazing.
The chinese moove is called Soares, and created by Brazilian Julia Soares
Yeah, immediately slamming your pelvis into the beam is probably the craziest one, lol.
This is so much more interesting to watch than modern balance beam which is just a sequence of floor tumbling on the beam.
Yeah, it would be amazing with more artistry in it. The gymnasts are crazy talented so they can do it but the code of points doesn’t push for it

Very cool how you showed multiple examples of each mount.
On to part 2...
I’m so tired of switch leaps. We need more interesting mounts back.
Really great performance, appreciated, thanks for sharing beautiful video🙏
Daniele Hipólito from Brasil
So cool 😎
Boring especially when you show wash one ten times. There are far better ones then those.
Make your own video then. Oh wait, I’m guessing you’d rather just complain like a little school child.
Wow...wow...wow
Beautiful compilation. Thank you
I feel like I could now teach and perform Moceanu’s mount perfectly after seeing it 75 times from every angle imaginable.

If I tried to do this, my legs would be in full cramp mode for months!!
Khorkina's was not even close as difficult as the rest. It was disgusting that she got always her way just because she was herself, "the Russian".
Kraniaska and Hypolito my favorites, but they were all amazing
The first one is called for husbandd : wellcome home sweety
Eewww
