ive tuned my suspension all by myself using all the tips i have learned in your videos. About to break in my first set of brand new tires, hoping i can get a long life out of them using all the knowledge i have gained. You're the best!

I am not new to riding bikes but I am new to the science of tyre pressures and tyre wear in combination with damping and spring rates/perload. There is quite a lot to learn but I have followed basic lines and improved things to such an extent that I am enjoying the ride a lot more than I thought possible. Even on my Dinosaurs (Harleys) things are improving to such an extent that I now realise that the investments I made with shocks, emulators and custom fork springs were better value for money than I could ever have guessed - I had the right toys to play with but didn't know how to play with them.

Truly amazing ! I've worked with Dunlop manufacturing techs who never came across to have such in depth knowledge. They probably kill me for saying this, but I've got to be honest ...I'm blow away . Dave Williams, editor, replying here. Those DVD's were our first crack at trying to share Dave Moss' knowledge in a format the average rider could use. That was over 10 years ago. The content we're now streaming on his website and app are far superior (not the info, but the presentation). However, you won't go wrong with the DVD's. They'll help immensely. And yes, the info applies no matter the venue, as does the current content on the website and app.
Great video and Dave has a great deal of knowledge about set up!!!!!! I'm not a track rider, but do ride sportingly most weekends with my good riding friend. We average at least 90-100 miles on the average weekend, if not more. We live in Central CA about 5 miles from the beginning of the Sierra Mountains. So roads are mountainous, but their are flat areas as well. We also ride the back roads to the coast of CA. A ride can take us from 300 ft to 6000 feet during the course of our rides. Some sharp turns some more flowing, speed, turns and of course some relatively straight areas. But we pick the roads that have lots of turns! A lot of up and down hills. My question would be, would this kind of Remote Tuning be advantageous to our type of riding? I have a 2011 Suzuki GSX 1250 FA with about 35,000 miles on it. My friend has a 2 year old BMW 1000 with all the electronic suspension settings. My bike, I purchased from my friend a couple years ago. He'd just completed several modifications that were recommended from Hole Shot Performance, changes inside the front forks and an added fork brace just above the front finder. These were set to my friends height and weight, who is about 4-5 inches shorter and about 40 lbs lighter. I'm 6 ft and about 210. Also the addition of an electric chip that smooths out the engine via the Injectors. Nothing new at the rear of the bike, other than a Hole Shot Performance muffler specific for this bike. Rear shock is still standard. Front forks are the old style and are not inverted. What do you think?
Hi David. I have the same GSF1250S with stock fork and stock shock. I recently acquired a 2008 GSXR1000 shock and will bolt that it. Nothing but positives from that cheap upgrade ($40). I ride it so rarely that I just keep 10w fork oil fresh to 110mm oil height. Given you what you have, just keep a very close eye on front and rear tire rebound wear (use the Contact Patch playlist)

Would you expect similar kinds of wear with say Pirelli slicks compared to Dunlop or are the differences in carcasses more complex in how you set the suspension ?
Interesting to see that the final session feel was better as you were more comfortable.

I find that I prefer the feel of Pirelli slicks on the rr and on the nsr Dunlop KR.
It is good to watch an expert at work, and make a complex circumstance simple and easy to understand.

$50USD for 30 minutes
@@catalystreactionsbw so is that basically $50 per session, or $50 per 30 minutes of your time(example: you spend 10 minutes of your time helping after a session, so I'd get 3 sessions roughly)?
Remote tuning would be $50USD for 30 minute blocks. If you wanted to split that into 10 minute blocks that is possible.

Dave, my wheels melt like lava, I have increased the pressure and it gets worse, then I have reduced the pressure again and it has gotten better, how is it related. Pirelli Corsa 2
If you reduce the contact patch, heat is dispersed over a much wider area so the tire is actually cooler. The new Bridgestone R11's needs exactly the same process to keep carcass temps in the range.

Hi Dave I have a harley dyna with race tech gold valves I can get it set not bad but I want to slow down the rebound would a thicker oil help with that ?
Yes, thicker oil will always help as can changing the color springs on the emulators.
can you give advice for street riding setings?bcs track is good in croatia but its pricy for us so its just a dream ..
Sure. Please email answers to the following questions to dave@davemosstuning.com - year, make, model, miles/kms on the odometer, your weight without gear, changes from stock, last fork and shock oil service (time/miles), brand, model and sizes of tyres. There will be a donation request for the settings.
Interesting. What could be possible culprits for flat center on front tread, but not the rear?
Pressure to low, geometry or fork settings to soft on preload and compression
What if on the street your bottoming out but when you increase preload the bike then doesnt have the correct sag or is there a compromise for street
You set sag and ride. If you bottom out you add more preload. If you bottom out again you add more preload. When you are in the last 25% of the preload range towards maximum you buy stronger springs and install them. Set sag again and start over.

Remote tuning gives you the basics so when you go to the track, you know what you need to do and that allows you to maximize the benefits from every lap even on your first day.

Yes, great bike. Springs and 15w oil in front with a different rear shock and it can handle really well. I know, I had one :)

Hmmm, as someone who has ridden that track quite a bit there is a lot of loading on the left side - turns 1,3,4,5, 19,21 are all high loading turns far more (collectively) than the rights 6 and 22
In this case Jeff, we dialed the bike in to Dave's riding style, ability and lines that day. As we are mortals verses Pro riders, we don't necessarily do the same thing each lap let alone for 20 laps.
What if the change of preload make the sag out of range? Would it be possible?
Prteload and sag are a starting point. I choose to start on the minimum side and see how much I need based on the engineering provided by the components. Once I optimize travel for the forks and shock, I check where I am in the settings range. From there i figure out if i need to go softer or harder with springs provided fork and shock oil age is optimal.

Tyre wear has many forms hence the Contact Patch playlist. In the videos I show you all the major issues that i see on a daily basis and teach you how to heal them. In this case, the process referred to pressure mostly to get the optimal tyre temperature based on rider skill and track temperature.

Hello Dave. Can you please give your opinion to Simon Crafar comment in new video "motogp tyres". He said that temperature in tyres rise when tyre have more pressure, because smaler contact pach brings more temperature to tire.
Soft carcass tyres get lower pressure in the cold to provide bigger contact patch and more heat. Hard carcass tyres like Dunlop race and MotoGP use higher pressures to focus the heat into a very narrow band so the entire carcass gets hot.

If you are riding during the day and want session by session evaluation of the tire wear and settings, I calculate the time spent and invoice at the end of the day. 30 minutes is $80USD

@@Josava13 If you are sending tire pictures per session and want me to make recommendations, that takes on average 5-10 minutes per series of pictures plus typing time so x 7 sessions that can add up so you might want to do every other session.

Can you gauge geometry tears on tires with normal street use? (no boogers/ normal heat cycle / commuting)
Road tires don't wear the same way as they last thousands of miles, not a couple of hundred. They will show faint signs especially with rebound and compression, but geometry is much harder to "see" as the surface of road tires are much harder and therefore less impressionable so to speak.

Does that also include the pirelli diablo supercorsa road tires? They're pretty soft for a street tire.
again, road tires are a hard surface for durability, so you are referring to the carcass as yes, that is softer. Unless you deliberately go extreme with adjustments, you are unlikely to see wear like this on road tires.

I can read the shoe sole of a woman to see what is wrong with her! if it looks like a stressed tire then following this advice can help you:
1.) add 2 clicks of understanding
2.) remove 3 clicks of aggression
3.) add one turn of a love song, dancing and moving clockwise
4.) don't use zip ties to see if she is stressed till the bottom
5.) breath slowly, avoiding too much pressure causing cold tears in her eyes
And if the shoe sole doesn't heal after this set-up - ride a new woman :)

After watching all your content I can’t help but cringe a little when I see people posting on instagram a picture of their shredded tyres bragging about their track day.
Given the budget they have for tyres, I ask them to sponsor me as they clearly have plenty of $$.
