‘23 New Product Review - SaltX Reels

- The SaltX reels from Tsunami have earned quite a few salty converts along the Striper Coast since their 2018 product launch, due to the durability from A6061 aluminum body and rotor along with fully sealed design. The SaltX engineers have rebuilt this hardcore spinner, from the inside out and all the way around, with a new 3000 and 4000 series coming in the fall. While many tackle reviews spotlight reels from the outside, we spent 12 minutes with our own personal "tackle adviser" at the ICAST '23 event in Orlando, FL to get a deep dive into the SaltX reel so you know what to expect when you slide this into your favorite reel seat during the fall run.

It’s always great to hear the voice of tackleadvisor. He always goes hard in the paint.
If Nick from tackle advisor is behind a product you know it's good.
Mr. hands returns
I think next year, you and I need to get in some trouble at icast.....and film every second of it..........
Biggest innovation at Tsunami is hiring Nick from tackle advisors.
Innovation......More like royal pain in the @$$ lolol....Thanks brotha!
@@TackleAdvisors You are a sneaky beaver sir. Impressed you kept it quiet for so long! I’m excited to see a separate video for this reel pop up with your typical level of detail
What a nice surprise! TA was my fav channel.
Oh my God, where have you been?! I've been waiting for your new videos on reel disassembly. I am getting this reel if it's Tackle Advisors approved
As soon as I heard the introduction I was like woah that’s him! I was wondering if he was ok since he stopped doing videos
When are these coming out?
TackleAdvisors!! Wonder where you went. Now I know that you are involved I'll have to pick one up.
My thoughts exactly!
Thanks for the kind words and vote of confidence.
@@TackleAdvisorsmy man! I watched so many of your videos! Do you know if they changed anything about the problematic drag spring?
Scooby: I like how the bottom of the pinion now has support. Nice work!
First time seeing Nick take apart a reel on youtube in years
So nice!!! Finally you're back!! Interesting review as usual...
Some of the best videos on yt are just 2 hands and work bench. Ave, lockpick lawyer, and this guy. We miss you man
Thanks brotha! I've said it in the past but scheduling and life didn't allow me to post regularly. But I'm coming back in a big way.
Scoooooob!!!! I'm sold.
these reels looks sick 🤙🤙
Bruh are you back??? Yes!!! 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Saw your DM on IG and replied
@@TackleAdvisors we need some more innovative trout rigs, reel reviews, and knot tying tricks!!! Cheers my friend! Fingers crossed for your speedy return to the yt world!
Scoob, these gonna come with bailess conversion kit included like the OG salt x?
I know that voice lol, great job nick
Will replacement parts be readily available after warranty runs out?
Whats the water resistant rating
I still got my tsunami shield 600. Works pretty well.
have you dunked it had sand gotten into it how is it?
@@eternalabyzz9386 yeah I dunked it a few times. All good.
What is the recommended reel size for the 12ft surf rod?
Time releasing or available?
What is the ratio of these reels, l hope they are above 5 to 1 on the smaller reels?
Summer 24 no reels out yet. Post I cast 24? Ready for fall run?
Does anyone know what the listed line capacity is on the 3000?
Hey, I know that voice!! Long live Tackle Advisors
What's the release date for this ?
Haven’t finished the video yet but I’m wondering if this is as sealed as a van staal vsx or if this is like a “fully sealed” but you still don’t want to dunk or reel it underwater type of situation
Gen 1 is def not sealed. I opened my 6000 and I was on the last of four screws and water came gushing out. I wouldn’t trust these gen 2’s either
@@GabrielGarcia-ci2cg yeah I heard alot of complains of the way this was marketed and how you still didn’t actually want to reel these underwater so was wondering is this was the same story
I mean don’t get me wrong it is a workhorse with that 50 lb drag and this past spring I’ve caught well over 100 fish on it but If I’m going to be in the surf I’ll just stick with my vs and use the saltx in areas where it won’t get splashed. Even the slightest grain of sand would seize it and mine has been making a squeaking sound since the end of spring
When is this going to be available I’ve been waiting not patiently lol
Did the 3000 model ever get released?
Tackle advisor lives 🥹🥹
I like the look of the older version a little more.
I recognize those hands anywhere 😂
Can you make this new version bailless?
Where can i get one?
I had heard this new version also has like 5 more seals for better saltwater intrusion. Is this true ?
Not just more, but I analyzed seals used throughout the industry, and other industries and made what I consider improvements to seal design and geometry.
@@TackleAdvisorsis this submersible?
@@biviac1237 ipx8
The main complaint from the first model was the drag spring? Was that issue looked into for this generation?
Yes, completely different mechanism. Trust me, it ain't falling off.
@@TackleAdvisors awesome to hear that man and thanks for the response and glad to know you’re doing well.
@@InshorePursuitFL thanks brotha! Much appreciated!
When are the 8k dropping
When can I purchase one ?
Yo if Nick put some input behind these reel i would give them a shot. Going to beat up that 8000 on a whole bunch of yellowfin tuna.
WHEN? Fall of 23 has come and gone.
But is it available in periwinkle fury?
HAAAAAAAAAA....No Bull$hit.....I actually have a metallic blue prototype.....like dark midnight blue....it looks sick, sadly it's too close to black.
@@TackleAdvisors kind of like a Repsol blue without metal flake. Honestly I like bare aluminum with a protective clear as well as anything.
@@timothythompson6549 Sorta, think new saltiga only darker. With a blasted surface finish on the frame and some polished surfaces elsewhere......I like bright aluminum too....but this was slick....especially when the light hit it jussssst right.
Coming out soon penn came out new ones at Cabela's
When other companies have issues with their reels and lack in the customer care department tackle advisors works with a company to rectify those issues. I liked the saltx before and now i will push it even harder knowing people care at tsunami.
Weights?
If you don't mind, I'll reply the same way I did on Stripers Online. Gimme a little bit. I'm compiling data points so that everything has context.
@@TackleAdvisors sure. Waiting with baited breath or however that saying goes
I recognise that voice and those hands, welcome back T.A, so that's where you went to.
And I quit last month. Moved to Cape Cod, and assumed the role as the GM of the Goose Hummock...stay tuned....Gonna bring the heat!
Looks like a Visser in build lol.
That's like saying the Visser looks like Salt X 1
Scooby!!!!!
Heyooooooo!!!!!
@@TackleAdvisorswe missed you scoob
Been trying to get info from tsunami on specs on the reels and the rods for months and nothing. Several phone calls and emails with no reply. Not the greatest customer service ever and scoob no longer works there.
Weird how he doesnt want to be on camera 🤷♂️. I like the bushing on the handle. Bearing on the handle is dumb.
LOL....Jim came up with a goofy intro....and we just went with it. The overhead perspective was to play on my youtube channel.
@@TackleAdvisors that's because I am goofy (which is one of the nicest things that can be said about me). Thanks for the tackle tour Nick, can't wait til' the fall release! -JH
Wats up with this and anyone in between stuff. You say that in every video. Are you like for that bud lite dude girl guy?
..... nice reel but i dont buy any china stuff anymore. I have older stuff but wont buy from our worst enemy on earth. made in china, I'll keep my twin power. Saltiga and accurates, jdm and American made
Ah that's where he has been hiding.
Even tho i am not into saltwater at all, this looks like a solid ass reel, which also happens to look good.
