Penn needs to get with the times. Saltiga and Stella are miles ahead of the game. Penn still use screws in the body. As for Dogfights. The 2020 Saltiga is way better. The dogfights are just highspeed 6500 Saltigas but black and gold
Repaired reels for over 20 years, All's what I can tell you is paying over a $1000 for any reel is insane! No reel will repell salt water for a period of time , sooner or later your bearings will get clogged with salt and it won't turn! When your Bearings seize so does your main gears. I can name a lot of good salt water reels , but you HAVE TOO maintain them, make sure you wash with fresh water after each use and they will last a lot longer.
100% bud- like anything it needs to be maintained… nothing will remain perfect forever! We also agree, saltwater has a funny way of getting into almost ANYTHING🤣
Hmmmm… Tesoro I think would match up with slammer/gosa… The makaira will match up with these reels in my opinion, but they never quite took off unfortunately🙈 But it’s a whole new animal that reel…
Tesoro is well sealed and has interesting features, stock is scarce, good reel, but quiet specific in its target market, akaira is a great reel, but like the tesoro quiet heavy, great for deep sea spin and as much as I love Okuma they are not quiet in this class
i have the stella 6000 hgc n penn authority 4500 ,, man penn is just as good as stella minus some cosmetics only , aluminuim face lift for the rotor overall good looking , pure ss bail wire instead of black colour , better forward wide angle design for the spool lip , but certainly it's a steal at its price.
Yes the UK anglers love Penn and for good reason, not always the lightest for a lure spinning setup but strong and reliable which more than makes up for the slight weight increase
I would like to buy a reel for shore jigging style. Currently the Penn Authority 4500, Van Staal VR 150 and Twinpower SW 6000 is at the same price range. Which of these reel would be better option to buy and which of these would handle bigger fish ? Thanks a lot
no vanstaal for sure, those reel not for on water fishing , the drag is not smooth and reel is heavy. shimano and daiwa way better than it , if you want the best service , choose shimano , other brand can't beat shimano service
I get the Saltiga and the Stella but the Penn Authority I wouldn't put same category, PS I've been loving my Tesoro. I love a spinning reel that puts R&D in drag sound!!! I like the sound of the Tesoro drag better than my saragosa when a fish in on buzzzz!!! Not to mention titanium spool shaft brass pinion gear etc.... I also have slammer vi DX's ,saragosa swa. and i prefer Tesoro. Funny thing is It's the only Okuma spinning reel I like though - had Salina and returned it?
i think the magseal is an issue for some too. is not as easy to DIY service as the Stella. where i live there are no service centres so i do my own, and the Stella is not an issue. Also been some issues with the line rollers on the Daiwa , there is no locking screw on them. To be honest, though, if it wasnt for the fact that OEM Magoil is not available to joe public i would buy the Daiwa. i have a range of Stella SW and love them but i do like the power of the Saltiga and the monocoque design. Also i do hear anecdotal stories about the Magseals being bit of an issue for the surf guys, doesnt play well with the sand and surf, Stella much less problematic there. on a boat..Saltiga all the way
Thanks so much for this comment- your knowledge is awesome! I think these are all amazing reels. For a boat, we agree- Saltiga all the way. Each reel in its own right has their place, but the Daiwa needing to be sent in for service might be a “marketing gimmick” to make the reel seem exclusive (similar to high end watches etc).

I was shocked to find out that the saltiga reel plus shipping from online Japanese store works out less to what it sold locally but I am not a millionaire enough said.
lol… it sounds about right. Years ago I learnt that a Mercedes Benz c class made in East London is cheaper to import from USA and then convert back to right hand drive (from LHD)🤣 It’s the way it goes…
Yes and no sometimes guys forget about import duty which on a Saltiga can add up to a fair bit, sadly dealers struggle to even make a minimum markup on the high end reels!
Please, before doing videos like this, do your homework or get someone who fishes with the reels before and know what goes on. I've fished with all 3, and the reels a world apart from each other.
Interesting comment (no disrespect). But I think it was not a “review” but more a comparison of the 3 top brands and their very top tier reels. We cannot be bias with these reviews, and spoke to a few people who fish with them before hand.
Twinpower fe should been added to this shootout would been epic to hear more about it
We can include this in another episode for sure🤙🏻💪🏻
All the Aussie prefer right hand spin? It's 95% left hand spin in the states
Yeah, the states love the LH🙈

We agree with you that they are ahead of the game… but Penn will always have its place in the market!

Unless I missed it, why not avail the current price for each reel?
Penn around R9k, Shimano around R20k and Saltiga around R24k👌🏻
Stella every single day of the week
How does the Tesoro and Makaira match up to these guys ??
Hmmmm… Tesoro I think would match up with slammer/gosa…

Yoh bud… you have some proper reels hey!!!
What rods you pairing up with, and what are you targeting?
Here in UK the 2500 size Authority is popular with salt water lure fisherman .
I think in the states that Authority will always be a popular choice!
Yes the UK anglers love Penn and for good reason, not always the lightest for a lure spinning setup but strong and reliable which more than makes up for the slight weight increase
What about Van Stall Vr ?
We did mention… but just said they’re not readily available here in SA👌🏻
All fisher people would luv to buy any of these but its not really required by anyone .
100%… we would all love one (or more) of each!
I have authority 5500, 6500HS and 10500, they are amazing.
I am fishing mackerel dan tuna, I use 10500 for deep sea more than 150m.
You’ve got AWESOME reels! They really are amazing!
Well done on an awesome choice there🔥

Hey bud
We not too familiar with the VS because we don’t see them here in SA.
We would go for the Twin Power if we had the choice🔥
no vanstaal for sure, those reel not for on water fishing , the drag is not smooth and reel is heavy. shimano and daiwa way better than it , if you want the best service , choose shimano , other brand can't beat shimano service
Daiwa saltiga mq 18000p and 20000h is king 🤴 🙌 ♥️
They are BOSS👊🏻
I get the Saltiga and the Stella but the Penn Authority I wouldn't put same category,

Hey bud
I agree… but we did “best of the best” from 3 brands💪🏻
We also love the Tesoro, and that sound is something else!
Should have had the Makaira on the table too
Not denying this point… but stick availability from Bilimoria was an issue at the time of filming👌🏻

How much will it cost to service the saltiga or stella? And who does it in SA?
Not too bad if no spares are needed, besides the freight usually only a few hundred.
Without parts, a couple hundred…
It’s the parts that become expensive on the high end reels🙈
Im planing to test the authority in Oman
Such a beautiful reel!!!🥰
Does that mean the Saltiga will be up for grabs in the next Monster Shad Comp? 😂
Loving ur guys' content, awesome stuff.
lol… you’ll have to wait and see🙈
Can you guys please please please do a giveaway on budget shark tackle. I really want to go after big sharks during the sardine run.🦈🦈🦈🐟🎣🐟
Yoh🤣🙈
But the odds of you winning is the other issue you’ll have to face there🙈🫣
Daiwa Certate????
We went top tier of each brand.
Certate would go with Twin Power👌🏻
I was shocked to find out that the saltiga reel plus shipping from online Japanese store works out less to what it sold locally but I am not a millionaire enough said.
lol… it sounds about right.

Had all 3…..all,comparable performance, but I can buy more than 2 authorities for less than either of the others
This a a valid argument- no doubt what a lot of people do bud🎣🤙🏻
Finally
I assume you were waiting🤣
@@untraceablefishing indeed sir.thank you for the review.
Please make one with the certate sw and twinpower sw
Jirre ma julle kan kak praat!🤣
😳😳🤣🤣🙈🙈
Everyones entitled to an opinion....
