had the gen1 6K. It was an animal. Still it had areas needing to grow in future generations. For me I think Tsunami did hit the sweets pot here in gen2. I'm planning on the 3k & 6k but maybe the 4k instead...OK, I know me and I will just get the whole 'tournament' set. Sigh, I am old & weak so it's not my fault dang it! Seriously, this new lineup does cover pretty much any sort of fishing I'll be doing while waiting to die...not before I have them all though! 😂😂🎉🎉
Spool lip is great surf fisherman fall a lot on rocks I have nicked spool reel on several of my reels through the years and have to sand them down so I won’t nick the line when in use titanium will help that problem in a big way
Need to fish more. Titanium a harder material on spool lip most probably help to lessen scuffs and nicks when it hit hard surfaces. Less line breakage.
Of course! It's definitely not as smooth as something like that. It still has a tighter feel, but much smoother than a new van staal. However, I'm sure it will break in and smooth out more with time
Early prototypes were thinner than what you see here. The solid titanium wire is extremely sturdy. And it connects it's armature in a more solid way than gen 1
Looks like a great alternative to Van Staal. I don’t get my reels wet enough to buy either brand 😂
fished off the beach yesterday and second cast my spinfisher was soaked 😅 might have to buy one of these
Yep…same here. Looks cool though, thats for sure.

Props to the left hand retrieve!!!
It is the way!

i have been looking for a good review for this reel, great job!
Appreciate that! Glad we could help!
This might be what I need for when on the boat
Thanks for the review. Nick from tackle advisor did a good job on this reel. How does it compare to a Twin Power SW in terms of smoothness?

Just get e twin power...no regrets 😂
A Van Staal, but not a Van Staal. When you know, you know!
The titanium lip adds big benifit for the bailess guys.
Is there a manual pickup option for these reels?
Do they all have manual bails or do the smaller models have internal trip?
Should be manual bail for all size and reel comes with Bail less kit
They should have slowed that retrieve rate down main advantage of the staal imo and only reason I’ll keep buying the staals over other reels
Do they come with bailess kit like the pervious Salt X?
So if this were to get dunked in the sand like a van staal, it would be ok?
Yep, that’s obviously not recommended and the spool should be removed and sand cleaned out, but yea it will be fine
If this reel needs to be serviced, are there any service centers in US?
Saltwaters Long Island NY, Grumpys Tackle NJ, Fishermans Headquartters NJ, Reel Seat in brielle NJ, 4 reel services boynton beach floridat.
One thing I love about my first generation salt x is the meaty bail wire. Is it just me, I feel that it looks much thinner on the gen2.
Yes it is smaller however it’s made from titanium which is both stronger and lighter than the bail wire on the first gen.
Early prototypes were thinner than what you see here. The solid titanium wire is extremely sturdy. And it connects it's armature in a more solid way than gen 1
What bearings did they put in this ?
7+1 dual sealed stainless steel ball bearings
VS on top 🤑
It competes with the VR
Why not ceramic bearings?
Full Ceramics are noisey. Ceramic ball and steel race serves no benefit in a spinning reel.
Might as well get a Staal and not take any chances.
Agreed all the time 365 days/year. IMHO if you fish the conditions that call for a VS/SaltX then you have to go with the VS everytine.
The big question is .... Will parts be available in 10 or 20 years? My best guess is NO
Reel na ya Baru ya
Van Staal is King
Bro i am from India. Fishing very interesting but no rod and reel. I am lowest family. Ple one rod give bro please pls
