Hey Joe, great video, and thanks for an honest review. I'm just curious to know how long you used the VR75 before the anti reverse gave up.? I plan on getting one of these two reels soon. Thanks and tight lines
I’ve been using the 50 and the 75 for several years. I’m not a big maintenance guy so I usually use them for a year or two and sell them to buy a new one. I never really keep them for long but this one is about three years old with a LOT of use on the sand. Still a big VS fan
Thanks Joe great insight I’m planning on buying the 4000 this was very beneficial review also if you still have that noise problem again check your guides you may have a bad one tight lines
Yeah I’m not a big maintenance guy. I just wash them down and oil them. When it comes to breaking them down, me and my sausage fingers rely on the pros.
Got into surf fishing this year, looking to expand my gear arsenal. Currently have two 10ft medium heavy rods running Daiwa BG reels. I have a second 9ft MH/F rod with a Daiwa eliminator. Find myself doing a lot more jetty fishing than beach surf fishing. If i was to get another rod and reel that would hopefully last me a long time, what would you recommend?
Ya know man I’m really not a gear nut. I have a couple rods that I like a lot but it all comes down to price. I currently use a black hole challenger bank 791UL that I think is great. Light and powerful along with some RH Custom Rods that I like a whole bunch. For surf I use Century, Lamiglas, and RH Custom. Everything is usually a Van Staal for the reel but these tsunamis took a big jump up for me. I liked my BG but just a small amount of sand in them and it had to be broken down. I’m not great on maintaining them so I try to use the bulletproof ones
Looking to get this reel myself, bluefish and stripers are my target.
Yeah it’s great for them

Thanks. Guides were good. Just an odd squeal from the rotor
Great video and review. Just subscribed to your channel for future videos. Keep them coming and best of luck to you.
Thanks a lot. I appreciate good feedback.
@@SurfcastNJ keep up the good work 👏
I had a similar issue with other sealed reels. It’s usually either the roller bearing or the seal where the spool meets the body gets wet or sandy

I havent bucked up for the SaltX yet. I have a cache of Tsunami Shields, 3000-->6000. Love em. They go hard and wildly affordable
Yeah the saltx is a great reel. It’s growing on me.
Mantap👍👍👍
Terima Kasih! I think that means thank you
Do you ever clean and or oil you line roller?
That’s the one bit of maintenance I actually do.

ODM Genesis or other rods in their lineup. The DNA is good for the price. I run a Van Stall VSX on an ODM Evolution and it’s great.
Rear Guide on your ROD?
Nope. It was the reel
Did you figured out was making that noise
Nope. I’m not a big maintenance guy so I didn’t touch it. I let the Tsunami guys handle it.
VR50 for fluke, ok mister moneybags
You know what they say. Buy once, cry once. Premium tackle should last a long time.
The competition to the saltx 2 is the X2 not the Vr lol With all the titanium that tsunami Incorporated, it’s not even a competition lol
I wouldn’t compare it to the X2. I think it’s closer to the vr. The saltxII 4000 I think is closer to the X2.
