The base is absolutely perfect. The higher trims have that ridiculous Tesla tablet in the center it's annoying. The base has the perfect gauges in the main driver cockpit. The fabric seats look awesome. I'd much rather have the base over the other trims. And if it has a real key to turn it on instead of a stupid button I'd much rather have that also.
I have found out that Bluetooth headset holders block RFID on keyless start car keys. Took me awhile to figure this out n changed batteries. But yes I prefer the twist to push
Thank you, that's a great review! It's a great deal if you want a manual especially. However, if you want an automatic, it comes very close to Elantra N DCT which offers more HP and Torque. However, if you want an AWD, this is a great choice. I wish they offered an automatic in the base trim. Not to mention hatchbacks are better than sedans. I'm not sure why Subaru only offers WRX as a sedan.
@@Rubensito Because the eyesight is this huge black box that sits in the middle of the windshield behind the rear-view mirror and makes the cabin feel claustrophobic and blocks your views. Such a dumb design.
Great review man. I’m going to hopefully trade in my 2015 Jeep with very low miles on a base next week if they can give me a good deal. Definitely need more reviews on base models regardless of the make.
i have a '23 magnetite grey premium. i would have preferred the base, but it was the last '23 they had. I prefer key start, no moon roof, and meatier rubber.
I noticed slightly more pressure to the brake pedal compared to my WRX. Can’t say it’s a huge improvement but anecdotally provides a bit more confidence when braking.
I hate that stupid massive screen in the center. I just drove a base model WRX 3 weeks ago and I thought it was a 2024 it didn't have that ridiculous thing
Hi ,I just recently bought a new 24 vb wrx ,it had 11km on the odometer,,,drove it home from dealership around 10km in reasonably good traffic stop n go at lights,,,got home and all of a sudden fair bit off smoke came from under the hood ,,,retailer said it was normal break in ,,,however I'm still concerned about what that was initially,,,there has been no other time smoke has come out ,,,would appreciate anybody's help out there thank you ,also I'm in australia if that makes any difference
Yeh agreed. Test drove one last week in the late arvo. Sun bouncing right off it into my eyes was killer. Crazily it’s the thing holding me back from buying as it triggered a migraine. Wonder if there are any anti glare solutions.
This this little 🧈 boy talking up that heavy azzz tech. Look lady's. If you did your homework the 22 base was and is the one to buy. 29k, 300lbs lighter and a top speed of 155mph. Kicking around 5.4 to 5.6 0 to 60 times. Just make sure the dealership doesn't sneak in their 0w 30 oil changes. It nerfs the car by .7 psi boost. Always put 0w 20 oil in these and let them rip. Bro the 17s are much more harsh than the 18s. Wtf is this butter boy?
In Canada the base trim still has the silly 7” twin screens but our base has heated seats and wheel.
honestly I' much prefer the twin screens rather than that gigantic laggy ass ipad
I just picked one up last night! Had to retire my '06 WRX that I've had for 15 years.... beautiful cars!

I actually prefer a twisting key over the push button start. Push button start has given me a laundry list of problems over the years :(
it just feels right
Stop buying Mitsubishi junk lol
@CollinMac96 my push button start car isn't Mitsubishi lol

Like my '22 Premium, the CBS color on this vehicle is the best-looking choice. Nice that they upgraded the touch screen on the base.

I snapped up a 22 manual premium and love it. I wanted to get one before they added eyesight!
How come?

Do we have the full screen android auto map now?
That screen looks super reflective…
I have a premium 23 as well. If the 23 had the updated screen, it would’ve been a tougher choice for sure.
Are the side mirrors foldable?

That screen changes the game for me. It's the main reason I did not want the base in the past. Now that it's full, I might need to find one of these
Just a brief correction, the 2022 Base still had auto high beam assist on the manual even without the eyesight. Otherwise great review!

Nice reveiw drove wrx elentra n manual on n is much better
How's the brake feel by the way? I heard brake master cylinder changed for 2024.

@@mike_cerra Understood. Thank you for the information.
This looks 100 times better than the Elantra N
Do you know if they tightened the steering ? I tried one and it seemed tighter than 2022 model.
I know they retuned the suspension and steering for the TR, but I don't think the other trims received the same attention.

I just got a 24 premium. Previous wrx I have owned- 2018 premium 2020 sti 2021 base. 24 is my favorite by far

Did they rust proof the car? I could see rust protection getting heated up and burning, definitely not normal though
I test drove a 2024 before ordering my Premium and it still had the non-locking turn signal stalk.
If it’s gone, it’s gone. Could easily be some factory oil-based sealing on some parts that burned off, etc…….
The base is the best in all cars. Unless you get a bigger engine.
17s and no heated seats kill it. Get the premium
Even 17 is big. Wrx must option 15 inch wheel.
manual.
That horrible looking touchscreen ruins it for me
The dual looks better !
Nah I actually love mine shit looks like a tablet
Then buy a base 22 or 23
