I don’t get the “certain cars are made for certain ages” type of concept. I’m SURE Subaru didn’t design this car for 16 year olds or college guys. There’s no such thing. I’m 42 and after owning a Volvo S90 for 5 years, I just got a new WRX and in my reality, that means actually moving forward, not backwards. It all depends on what you want at that point of your life, and not how old you are.
Well also it makes zero sense as most cant afford no car at 16 - college. Not till ladder years in life. I now understand why I see the old guy in a Corvette, he finally can afford one 😂
I have no problem spooling the turbo in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th gear, the only gear that has issues spooling is 1st because it's so short you don't get alot of time of on throttle before redline.
if you clip/ unclip the seatbelt like 30 times it actually disables the driver side seatbelt chime, really helps when you're moving cars around the driveway or just scooting along in a parking lot Street Inspired has a instructional video I think great review by the way!
The sti wasn't made because it couldn't meet cafe standards. The wrx itself is already in motion to be discontinued atleast as a gas powered only car (the vb is most likely the last generation) The sti was in the works as a vb, just take a look at the coin tray in a vb wrx, the dccd from the va fits perfectly in it.
23:46 “now if you’re watching this and you’re about 16 years old and you’re trying to convince your parents that this is the car for you… I would say, I agree with you” 😂
I’m hoping some opinions will help me. Background: I’ve been a VAG guy for 20+ years. Repairing, modifying and tuning my cars, as well as my kids. Been driving an Arteon SEL Premium R-Line for 5 years. The last 4 sporadically for health issues. I have no intention to trade it in. It’s been paid off for 2 years. Since I’m not driving 60 miles a day anymore and family road trips are over, I’m looking for an “adult” small car, manual transmission that I can tune and still be a comfortable sleeper. The Acura ITS, WRX Limited, and a used 21’ GLI interest me. The 21’ GLI because it’s the last year before capacitive touch crap. VAG cars were easy to tune. Several Passats (5), 2 GTI’s, and several SEL Jetta’s for our kids. I want comfortable driving while doing everyday activities, but also want to be able to open it up when the urge overcomes me. - Are any of the 2 non-VAG cars easy to work on. - Easy to tune. - Aftermarket parts that don’t scream “look at me”. - Comfortable ride or able to be modified to do so. - I’m not a fan of CVT’s, heard this CVT is good. I’m looking for Goldilocks essentially. ✌️
I have been using eyesight for over 6 years now and its one of the best systems in the market. Its is not as bad as some of the other systems in the market.
Have any of you check the accessory options. Because under the STI is a better exhuast, a short throw shifter etc. Also it has folding rear seats to allow more rear cargo room. The auto only trasnmission isn't the only difference between the TR and GT trim level. The TR doesn't have a moonroof but the GT does. Honestly they should have had the GT as a manual with the auto as an option.
You CAN stop the seatbelt noise!!! There is a hack to it, at least for the front seat. Look it up you have to turn it on and buckle it/unbuckle it 30 times rapid fire and it turns it off
I enjoyed this review. In regard to being a good first car for a 16 year old, in this country at least (Australia) a 16 year old is not allowed to drive, and definetly not a WRX, due to P plate (provisional licence) restrictions. And there may be a good reason for that. My own driving, on country roads, commenced at 10 years of age, so I cant really moralize about that law. Secondly, technically speaking you may have been correct about the narrow (maximum)useable power band 0f 1200rpm. Torque is an important element of power, and some would say the Most important. Like a lot of turbo cars the WRX has a big fat flat torque curve from 2500 rpm to 5000 rpm. It is only from that point that horse power is greater than torque. It is torque that responds best to tuning, and torque that is responsible for so much driving pleasure. I rest my case. I am probably old enough to be your Grand Father, so I hope you can cut me some slack in regard to these comments. Thanks again for the review. I hope to have a WRX sooner rather than later.
I just bought this exact car last weekend, same color. I am enjoying it alot. Im 36 and It's my first manual car. Probably the 2nd manual 4-wheel vehicle ive ever driven. I drive trucks for a living, i learned to drive stick in an 18 wheeler. Theres a bit of a learning curve to driving this car smoothly. It seems like it doesnt like being in 1st gear, it feels jerky driving around in 1st in a parking lot. And the transition from 1st to 2nd is not simple to smoothly do. Ive driven trucks with non synchronized transmissions that shift smoother. Do you have any advice on how to smoothen out those first two gears?
34 year old wrx owner here. My first vehicle was a manual pickup, but that was 16 years ago lol. It's taken some time getting used to it but you will. I love my wrx. Enjoy!
Needs research. There are big differences between the TR and GT models. The TR is manual only, Brembo brakes, 19” wheels, stiffer suspension, steering, and chassis. There is no sunroof option. The GT is SPT only, 18” wheels, adjustable dampers, adjustable steering, 5 drive modes, sunroof. The TR and GT come with Ricaro seats.
I don’t think this is a car for a teenager or someone in college. I don’t know many parents that would buy that as their kids first car. And a broke college kid is not buying that car. This is for someone who has a well paying job and has their life together. I would also recommend being over 25 because of insurance. The average young person cannot afford this car and everything that comes with owning a car like this.
Even if someone's parent did buy this car for them when they are 16 yr. They are just asking for it to get keyed at their highschool by others that can't get one.

Great video, thanks showcasing this beauty of a car. One correction however, the keyless access and push to start is available starting at the Premium trim level, not the Limited.
They really need to get rid off the ugly childish Tesla iPad copy cat. So cheap UI and ugly shape that destroyed the entire interior scene. It can be as cheap as civic, and clean cheap iPad, or as dedicated and Porsche, or Alfa Romeo that traditional have integrated infotainment systems.

I actually just bought one for my 16-year-old, but I like the car too.
@@froglureprototype4967 y would u give a 16yr old 270ponies?! Guess ur loaded cuz tickets are sure to be ur future
I have 29k miles on my 22 Limited WRX. Just an amazing car tbh. I daily drive it 90% of the time, and it’s just such a good all around car
Seems a bit over the top to be hating on a pretty basic safety feature like a fasten seatbelt chime. Other than that it was a pretty decent review. 👍
Especially since you can disable it

For the 24 models, base comes standard with the big screen
prefer the dual screen

great review by the way!
I did that few months back when I picked up my 21 Legacy. Love the car, HATE THE SEATBELT CHIME!

Don’t bang through 1-2 and don’t shift at a low rpm. Being smooth is key to everything with this car.

@@LivingLikeGray No, you said they're the same except for the transmission.
Yep. All the 24’s have the 11” infotainment also
You should really look up what an intercooler does.
Yea I misspoke, meant to say air and forgot to fix it
Ugh i hate Eyesight, the Alcantara seats, and the seatbelt chine. Sucks they force you to get those just to get a sunroof.
Pretty sure you can get the moonroof with the premium as an addon which I don't believe has the alcantara seats, and the chime can be disabled.
I have the premium and it does have the full size single screen infotainment screen.
The consistent, linear torque is EXACTLY why you want the CVT ❤

I test drove the new WRX limited manual, the car is slow in 1st and 2nd gear. NOT sure if I would buy it.
I would rather have a base head unit with manual controls am fm Bluetooth.

No one ever seems to photogragh it from it's best angle: Dead on side profile...
The limited is one of the trim levels for the WRX model.
A nice WRX review Thank You 👍 Au
If I was a father of a 16 year old I would NOT buy this for them. This car can get you ticket$$ 😂
Yeah I was getting ticket after ticket just being a complete ass at 16 with a base Impreza from the 90s. Owning this car young 😅😅
To protect the paint, just don’t put paint there. 😂
It is a fool proof method hahaha
bring it, what do I absolutely need to know?
I’m 62 and I want one
Good all rounder
Did he really just say the intercooler cools the oil for the turbo?!
Yea I mispoke
Nice car. The Limited or GT are the only trims I would consider. Odd that they don't offer an automatic transmission for the TR.
Yeah, yeah,we know all this

GREAT car for a 16 year old kid. 😂
Starting with the 5th gen the WRX has got uglier and uglier every subsequent generation! The current WRX is just plain hideous in my opinion!
After a couple more gens, this one will look great 😂
