Imagine hearing this for the first time an 18yo, cruising down the road in a convertible Malibu and feeling the wind as the sun goes down - Journey could do no wrong!
The saddest thing is these guys were one of the best bands in the late 70s & 80s and unfortunately they never have won a Grammy. Which when you see the artist today that have Grammys. 😢
Steve and Gregg were magic together. Perfect harmonies. Here you can already hear what a sensational frontman Steve would become. His voice is sensational. I love Lay it Down, Mother Father, Suzanne, Why Can't This Night Go On Forever, Still they Ride (live from Japan 1983) or any of Steve's solo stuff (Strung Out, Oh Sherrie)
It’s true! They’re all babies! 😭 Especially Steve. It’s *so* good. Loved hearing Gregg Rolie return in The Storm. Check out that band someday. Journey DNA through and through. So much passion. Always wanted to see them all to get back together again.
Winds of March is a MUST!!! The entire albums of Infinity and Evolution are amazing! Every single song on these albums will not disappoint. Journey On!
I saw them on that tour with Eddie Money and Pat Benatar opening. It was the largest concert in Flint, MI history at the time. I wore my first copy of this album out and I am happily impressed that i remembered all the lyrics. They were unbelievable live, especially when Steve Perry left the stage for a couple jam instrumentals with the original members. Good reactions.
I got to see them in '82 ( I think) when they opened for Montrose - no Hagar just instrumental. They were amazing. The band hung out not far from where I was sitting to watch Montrose after their set. They were able to hang amongst the audience without being bothered.
This was our introduction to Steve Perry! OMG what a voice, right? It put journey into the stratosphere, With a reminince of a Boston/ELO like sound.awesome memories.
Yes, their studio game is as great at their Live shows. More Journey. I'd suggest Stone in Love for a rockin vibe or Still they Ride if you want mellow ballad.
My favorite Journey years! Gregg is my favorite! Checkout the 50 yr anniversary where Greg Joins the band for a few songs along with TOTOS steve Lukethord and do a couple SANTANA SONGS! REMEMBER NEAL SCHON AND GREG ROLLIE PLAYED IN SANTANTA before forming Journey!
It's great that you did the two songs together like we used to hear them on the radio. Greg and Steve were so awesome together. It's a shame we only got three albums of them both.
From the Infinity Album (Patiently) is a great choice next. But I'd recommend watching that then the live from The Midnight Special, back to back...In my opinion the live version is the best..also (Winds of March) is also beautiful...
Live performance was even better with Journey, but you know that by now. Sorry that you missed seeing them for real in concert. Thanks for the great reaction videos; you do a terrific job appreciating these classics before music became just a tech production!
The first singer, keyboardist Gregg Rolie is the same guy who sang "Black Magic Woman" when he was with Santana. The three albums: "Infinity - Evolution" and "Departure" are some of the best records of the 70s. (though, Departure was 1980).
Think i listen to that now. Love that song .trying to learn piano. Working on feeling that wat now. Been a drummer 46 years. Piano only 4 months. Have a Long way to go with this years newyear resolution.
The great Aynsley Dunbar on drums. He played on albums by Frank Zappa, David Bowie, Michael Schenker and UFO, Jefferson Starship, Whitesnake, and Ian Hunter, among others. Aynsley was like an octopus, but he knew when to scale it back, too. Check him out on the first 3 (pre-Steve Perry) Journey albums, when they were a jam band. Topaz is a great instrumental that showcases the guitar prowess of Neal Schon along with Aynsley’s drumming.
Definitely Official videos of: Send Her My Love, After the Fall, Still They Ride (live in Osaka), Be Good To Yourself, Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’, When You Love A Woman, Girl Can’t Help It, La Do Da, Why Can’t This Night Go On Forever ❤️🔥. And from “solo Steve” official videos: Oh Sherrie, Foolish Heart, Missing You, Strung Out, I Stand Alone. I could go on but I’ll quit…for now. 😜
love this one! and glad u played both together, that is how it was intended....and is played on FM radio. Amazing stuff! Saw these guys in concert in 1981....amazing.
First time I remember this being played was at my elementary school picnic/carnival. The carnival guys were blasting this on a ‘roller coaster’ type ride! So great!
Saw Journey 3 times live and they never disappoint. Saw them on the Escape, Frontiwrs and Raised on Radio tors. I have seen them once since “ The Voice” left and they were still fantastic. One of my all time favorite bands and brings back so many memories. 👍👍👍👍👍
Anything from departure is good. Best album in my opinion. I’m Crying, Precious Time, or Where Were You are my top 3 from the album. They rock and Steve sings his ass off.
I was always a fan of Gregg and Steve singing together. Although, different songs, radio stations would often play them together. Met Gregg during a performance a while back. Great guy.
Back in high school (1977 or so) I saw them live and also played the second song “Anytime” in my rock band! I sang lead, our lead singer sang Steve Perry’s part, and I absolutely nailed the guitar solo on my white Les Paul custom guitar. 😊 Memories from my childhood!
Still They Ride must be from Tokyo 83 (And while you watch and listen Steve had the flu!) Also Wheeling the Sky from Osaka!!! Steve and Neil Are so incredible playing off of each other!!!!
Another Song by Journey that I Like is " Only the Young " it was used as the Sound Track for the Movie " Vision Qwest ", I thought it was a Pretty Good Movie I watched it a couple of times, Another Song I like is " I'll be Alright Without You "( Official Video 1986 ).
All of the songs on this album are really great, this is Steve Perry's debut with Journey and imo, it's his best, I mean, his vocals are just glorious! I've owned this album twice because someone actually stole it from me back in the 70's, and then in the 80's! I guess they really loved the album too. Really, you should take time out and listen to the whole album. Thanks for FINALLY playing something else from this album besides "Wheel In The Sky", like others usually do.
You should also react to 'Just The Same Way (with Perry and Rolie) and People And Places (Perry, Rolie and with Neal Schon *guitarist* doing most the singing*)!!'
Journey 1983 "Still They Ride" Live In Tokyo. HQ/Not the best quality but OMG. The Voice was on another planet. So lovely! And another is Journey - "Winds of March" (Official Audio)
Listen to something to hide from this album!! Steve’s vocals are out of this world on it and towards the end he mimics the guitar with his voice and his range is an amazing!! ❤❤❤
Awesome song, love it. Other songs I highly recommend are, Positive Touch, I'm Cryin, Walks like a lady (live version), Where were you, Castles burning, Message of love, Dixie Highway, Suzanne, Edge Of The Blade, Chain reaction, After the fall, The eyes of a woman, Troubled child. All awesome songs you gotta check out. 😎🎸👌
The combination of Greg Rolli and Steve Perry makes this one of the greatest back to back songs ever!
They did win a Grammy for the song When You Love A Woman
@@joelhammond4162 Nominated, didn't win the Beatles did, don't ask me why .
@@user-ox4pr9vc8e Ah, my mistake, you are correct. Thanks.🙏
No doubt! Most stuff you hear on the radio, especially rap,is absolute dog shit
It's been a while. How about Send Her My Love or Still They Ride?
When Steve’s voice comes in ❤. Such an epic song.
in my humble opinion, this is Journey, in Full Force! ❤
Absolutely!
Love the early Journey songs with Greg and Steve as co-lead singers.
Steve Perry... one of the best voices in a generation.
The video is good too - they all look so young !!! 👍🏻
It’s true! They’re all babies! 😭 Especially Steve. It’s *so* good. Loved hearing Gregg Rolie return in The Storm. Check out that band someday. Journey DNA through and through. So much passion. Always wanted to see them all to get back together again.
Love the clip of this from the Midnight Special. Not only were they young, they all had tons of hair! 😂
@@janleonard3101 I know, that's the one I was talking about !
I heard this song about 16 years old, and it was the start of my lifelong obsession with journey
Totally! This would do it. Like a recruiting tool. 😊 ty for sharing.
My ALL TIME favorite Journey song(s)!
Great job Salvo!
"Stay Awhile" is my absolute favorite
It doesn't matter which one you choose they're all good.
Winds of March. 🔥
Lights / Stay Awhile live Japan 1980🔥🔥🔥
Winds of March is a MUST!!! The entire albums of Infinity and Evolution are amazing! Every single song on these albums will not disappoint. Journey On!
💯
First time I saw them was back in 1979... a fantastic show
I saw them on that tour with Eddie Money and Pat Benatar opening. It was the largest concert in Flint, MI history at the time. I wore my first copy of this album out and I am happily impressed that i remembered all the lyrics. They were unbelievable live, especially when Steve Perry left the stage for a couple jam instrumentals with the original members. Good reactions.

Just love Steve and Greg together. Absolutely electrifying.
I ran into the record store at 14 and instantly bought this great album! Will never forget that.
The older stuff is better than the newer.💯 Infinity is great!!❤
We wore this album to a nub as teens.
"Stone In Love"
Patiently and Winds of March are great deep cuts from the Infinity album
I love the combination and juxtaposition of the two voices here. Ear candy!
Stone In Love is one of their rocking best!!!
My recommendation for his next reaction too
Came down here to recommend this one.
This was our introduction to Steve Perry! OMG what a voice, right? It put journey into the stratosphere, With a reminince of a Boston/ELO like sound.awesome memories.
❤Will we ever have music like this again.....I don't think so. Thats why we have playlists I guess.
Yes, their studio game is as great at their Live shows. More Journey. I'd suggest Stone in Love for a rockin vibe or Still they Ride if you want mellow ballad.
Have to check I'm crying!
Have you listened to 'Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin by Journey?? Another great one!!
Just the Same Way is great. But also in line with this pair is Lovin, Touching, Squeezing/City of the Angels
YES!

"Loving, Touching, Squeezing"
Absolutely ❤
A great live cut is Dixie Highway from the live Captured album
This combo song are two of my favorite Journey tunes. So good ❤😊
It's great that you did the two songs together like we used to hear them on the radio.

Amazing how badass that simple little fill sounds❤
My fav journey song(s) by them
Winds of March Live in Chicago 8/5/79 💕🔥🔥🔥
Journey at their finest!
It's blasphemy for one to not play one song without the other. This is Journey at their best!
LOL Blasphemy, I love it!

Pure late-70s, HS parking lot on a Friday afternoon, big 70s cars blasting Journey on their 8-track tape decks with the whole weekend ahead.
First time I remember this being played was at my elementary school picnic/carnival. The carnival guys were blasting this on a ‘roller coaster’ type ride! So great!
The studio versions are great, but the midnight special live versions are soo good
💯

Mother, father was awesome live. You need to watch that live and faithfully. Awesome vocals in both songs and instruments. Also watch wheel in the sky

"Anytime" 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Listen to Journey...Good Morning girl/Stay Awhile ❤️
this entire record is a must listen.
This reminds me of roller skating in the roller rink! Nothing beats this era! Gregg Rolie in his prime. Love these songs.
Try"Someday Soon" from Departure. "Patiently", from Infinity. His voice on this track brought tears. Truly!
To me this is the perfect transition from old Journey into what would become the Steve Perry Journey, with the best of both vocal styles.
The first time I heard Feeling that way was in 1983. When Steve’s voice came in, I almost fell over. Such an amazing performance.
One of my favorites! 🎶
This is their best song👊🏽⚡️
Steve and Gregg were amazing and so magical together! I so wished they would do something again.
The studio version of their song Girl Can't Help It, will not disappoint. It's off their album entitled Raised On Radio 🤘🎸🎤☺️
My favorite Journey song(s).

Right! I didn’t know that this was the introduction to SP! And that being the introduction? Wow! Good job, guys.
A radio station here used to play an awesome live version of this - just as good as the record!
Gotta say, I’ve seen ALOT of your reactions. This one by far is the funnest to watch. I love the song even more. Keep it up dude.
There is never a time, in other words "anytime", I hear harmony my soul soars along with my mood.
Great band and great album!
I had such a crush on ALL the band members. This LP is a large part of why. They were just soo good to listen to, and to look at!
😽
This is a freakin masterpiece! ❤
Great reaction!!!
