Should you buy a Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max

  • The reason these Chery videos are so popular is because everyone wants to know why they are such great value for money. Is there a catch perhaps? What I like to call the Chery models (and the other Chinese brands knocking it out of the park), disrupters. And every industry needs a disrupter every now and then. It makes the big dogs check themselves a bit.

I have the same model as the one you're reviewing.
    Fuel consumption is very high.
Automatic Stop/ Start idle sometimes work.
When it start the car rolls back and I must be on my breaks all the time. It becomes annoying because for the automatic start I must release break. That's when the roll back happens.
    I love it though.

the front of this car has a Peugoet 2008 vibe (fangs) to it... That much said, the 2008 is R130K cheaper or thereabout... and it gives you enough. And it's French.... the Tiggo is big on power, but can it use it with the requisite refinement? It doesn't sound like like it - sounds aggressive at best. Peugeot 2008 for me

For those complaining about fuel consumption, I think it might go down as the engine gets run in. My friends have the Tiggo 8 Pro with the same 1.6 (the max has the 2 litre), and it is a larger car. In city driving they achieve 10.2 litres per hundred. That's purely city driving in traffic which I think is okay for a car of that size. They'll check the highway consumption soon.

One thing I think we just need to accept, with more than just a "pinch" of salt, is that manufacturer's fuel consumption figures are like political promises.
Never believe them, and look for actual figures in the road tests that do give them.
    And fuel consumption is relative.
What may be acceptable for some will be a deal breaker for others.
Anyhow, if you are saving R100k on one vehicle over a competitors model, that pays for a lot of fuel!
Like around 200,000 km worth at a 2l/100km difference.

    Hey Juliet.
I have been silently following you for many years. You're indeed such a talented person (And I mean it).
I sincerely and genuinely like you but on this video, you were way too distracted and what the car was telling you, I think is on point. No exaggeration!
You didn't even finish sentences in most explanations you did in this video.
And getting annoyed with other drivers in the middle of a review just isn't for real, for a real pro of your calibre.
Unfortunately, I am sorry to say that this has to be one of the worst videos you have ever made.
Informality suits your style of presentation many times when you do reviews but I think you take it a little too far other times; this being one of them.
And it's a pity because you're such a talented motor journalist and a cracking beautiful one too.
I have never doubted your talent wherever I have watched you, whether on Ignition TV or here, on this channel.
Please try to be a bit formal and let us have a taste of the "serious-you” sometimes.
I would rather you re-do this review because am a die-hard fan of the Chery Brand of late. I know you can do better if and when you want to.
Am sorry for being honest but it's because I deeply like you that much.

In general, I am in no way a serious person, so a more serious version of me is a not gonna happen I'm afraid, however, I hear what you say and will certainly keep it in mind. I hope you continue to watch the videos :)

Thank you heartily for responding. I actually didn't think you were going to.
I am honoured and humbled because it's the first time, ever, in my life that a celebrity (and I don't use that term in a derogatory manner but a best possible way to describe you, because you're one) has responded to my comment anywhere.
I always watch your reviews and I will not stop no matter how you disappoint.
There are few female journos around and, as a father of a very aspiring and energetic 12-year daughter, I love so, so much, I always imagine the grown-up version of her doing the same or something different but meaningful to the world.
You (and dare I add Zipphora) are really doing a great job in the South African motor journalism arena and I must say you have a brilliant future in all this.
I always watch from between Malawi and Botswana.
As I wind up this comment, allow me to put a request for an in-depth review of the new JAC T9, should you get that opportunity.
It looks fantastic and has aroused my sleeping weird, new taste for real underdogs, by their real definition.
      Thank you, again.

It is amazing value for money. Imagine the new Honda CRV cost R1 million!! And it isn't even all wheel drive. And is a 1.5. The Honda is not worth R400k more than this. It just isn't.

Depends. That honda will probably still work when we're all dead and gone. Chery reliability is still relatively unknown

@@keeganmcgregor4698 It isn't worth 400k more. The Chery comes with a million km warranty on the engine. And Hondas aren't fault free and they're expensive to maintain.

@SDav21 Sure. There's all likelihood the chery will be fine. However, they are still new and it is a higher gamble betting on the new kid on the block. My mom had a Honda CRV that cleared 450 000 Km, was treated like shit and was still sold running. Maybe in 20 years Chery will be the same. Maybe not. Only time will tell reliability and depreciation

Another car from Wish. Fuel consumption is arguably the single most important factor and a general indication of sophistication which these lack and no amount of gimmicks can make up for it. Not a fan.

get a cheap small car, that will get good fuel consumption. this is a car with 195hp.
