I personally LOVED Vash'jir.. I know that alot of people hate it because of hit box problems and Line of Sight problems, but I never encountered those. The place was just beautiful, the music was great, and the quest line was linear, which I liked for the zone because it really felt captivating.
Rizerr96 Yes yes yes. Definitely one of my top favorite zones in the game. Every time I mentioned it was my favorite zone of Cataclysm I would have people try to CONVINCE ME why it was so horrible. I loved it, I love water themes and the music was just enchanting and the quests were great and overall a beautifully done zone. Nothing about the combat or the travel system in the zone bothered me at all. I'm glad I found someone with a similar opinion! :D
+Rizerr96 I agree with you 100% it was unique, different and enchanting I for one enjoyed that zone quit simply because it was so different from all the other zones in wow which is why it was so interesting to me even more so cause as a druid I could finally put my aquatic forms to use.
I remember finding the dungeons in coilfang reservoir by accident. I was swimming in the lake and went to examine the machinery. I found the pipe and saw an entrance and thought how cool would it be if it went somewhere and was blown away by what I saw. Especially seeing a whole raid summoning ppl and I was hiding in kitty form so they wouldn't kill me as a 68 druid
No in zangarmarsh I was probably like 63 actually. And shit like that is why I love wow. I've become jaded with it and play many mmos but I always com3 back for at least a little bit
Nobbel I love your videos I love your voice, I quit wow about 9 months ago and have recently started again just because your lore reading has inspired me :) I now level alts and do the quest chains just so experience the lore and im loving it, I have also started to read the comics once again thank you my friend :) keep them coming.
That is an interesting concept. What would their racial abilities be like? Like the worgen, they would probably have a land form and a water form. In the water form they would look like a naga retaining none of the gear except the weapons. It would have the same properties as the druid sealion form (water breathing and a high swim speed). In their land form they would look more like bulky elves with scaly skin (in order to accommodate regular gear). This would require some new lore and a unique start location to explain their new humanoid form. I would give them forked lightning as a powerful active ability with a 2 min cd and as passives i would give them frost resistance and improved fishing skill :). Anyone else have any other ideas?
We have so many flavors of elfs we got purple tall ones white ones with blue eyes white ones with green eyes scaly blue ones we have some with grey skin that are rip off vampires demonic red ones with green eyes and black wings and there are probably more
A very good story indeed! I stopped playing WOW in WOTLK so i never got to see Vasjir and all that naga content in Cataclysm. It makes me want to start up again just to see this great content. I will think about it. Thank you Nobbel for bringing us this story.
Actually, they were allied with the blood elves before and right after they left the alliance, them being the reason they were kicked out, and then joined Illidan, also during the Warcraft 3 campaign they were working with Illidan to destroy Northrend and near the end of that storyline they ally with the night elves to both save Tyrande and fight off the scourge in that area while doing so. The naga would more likely be accepted by the night elves, and henceforth the alliance, rather than the Horde whose connections to them tend to be the naga trying to drown every last one of them.
Recently came across this video again, after a long time. So sad to see that they never picked up on all these plot lines, but instead brought us the sup-par zone of Nazjatar that had not even a third of story content (or any compelling content at all) that Vash'ir had. Until BfA, I had already hoped that they would give us a full fledged expansion that completely revolves around Naga and the old god ties under the sea. Really one of my biggest dissapointments to date.
I say the naga should be a playable race, along with the gnolls. even if the naga were just a worgen rip-off but with night elves instead of humans, I would still play the ever living crap out of that race. thumbs up if you agree?
It's always possible, perhaps Vasjh wanted to overthrow her queen, rule herself. Or perhaps she had a little crush on Illidan..but that's never been told in the lore. All we know is that they came to retake the surface world and to do this they followed Illidan. He had his own mission to complete first which lead them to Outland. From there on she stayed loyal to Illidan, but as I said, the reason has never explicitly been said in the lore. Btw...love that profile picture!
There was a group of highborn that did not follow Azshara and tried to fight against her. They would free Tyrande and go with her back to the rebellion. After the war, they tried to chill with the other night elves but they couldn't stop using magic. In the end they would get banished and moved to a new home, Quel'thelas.
Thank you soo much for this and all other vids. You alone have made me decide to buy all warcraft books and read more quest texts in wow. A whole New experience to Me, and it's great! Thanks again.
Howdy! I answered this question in my Q&A #2. The videos on TH-cam show Lorewalker Cho his interpetation of the story. The real version is the one we see ingame, otherwise the events of MoP wouldn't make much sense. They've also confirmed this on twitter.
Nobbel...i really like the fact u do these videos as i have a hard time getting pre-world of warcraft lore...but as i was watching this video i had a thought to a point u made. Could it be possible that Lady Vashj stayed loyal to Illidan because of before the naga were transformed? Perhaps they knew each other back when she was a highborne and remembered his status and power (or possibly even had a crush on him that no one knew)?
Not to necro an old thread but the high elves clearly have obsession issues (azshara and sargeras). So not a far fetched idea that vasjh loyalty could be out of love for illidan.
This is the best part about the lore: even if you know all of it, you can always make some of your own. There is room to sneak in a shy crush from an elven mage girl before the events of the War of the Ancients. However, only from her perspective. As far as we know from lore, Illidan has been in love with Tyrande ever since they first met. Now it is possible that him and her mother old lady Vashj had met before the sundering, but Lady Vashj most likely was born in the naga society after the Sundering, although her origin story is unknown. However she could have gotten a crush on Illidan when she met him during the events of the Third War, when Illidan summoned them from the depths to fight the Lich King and his undead army.
And the part when the Mermaids came from the ocean when one of them sung !! That scene was like how the Naga came to Azeroth from the ocean when Illidan called them.
You mentioned him alot Nobbel, i loved the video alot and man i would love to know more about Prince Kael' Thas now that you mentioned him alot in the beginning! Love the lore videos and keep up the awesome work!!!
Why do we ally with Neptulon and Therazane when we kill Ragnaros and Al'Akir? Surly the Titans had a reason to lock all four of them up, so why is it that we kill two and ally with / rescue the others?
Because Neptulon and Therazane were content with merely watching over their own realms. They were forced to fight by the Old Gods. Ragnaros and Al'Akir were either forced to fight again or, in the likely case of Ragnaros, enjoyed bringing destruction as apart of their elemental affinity.
18:08 and their powers combine. we have captain azeroth Captain Azeroth, he's our hero, Gonna take pollution down to zero, He's our powers magnified, And he's fighting on the azeroth's side
Im such a huge fan of the lore which surrounds the Night elves, the Highborne and the Naga. Its so interested, and ofc the characters involved with that, Azshara, Tyrande, Illidan etc
Maybe not as a playable race, but a Naga expansion dealing with Azshara coming back, taking control of the oceans and declaring war on all land creatures? Oh Hell yes.
Wow, thought this post was long forgotten, two years back.. but as to your question about legs, they can make it so that wen mounted or out of combat they can change to Blood Elves, just as worgen change to humans, Having a lore backstory that they want to return to their former elven nature.
as much as i hated cata i wish they wouldn't of pushed mop out so quickly, maybe then they could of finished the story of the naga or atleast not leave so many questions. oh well, love your vids :D! they should make a movie haha.
Great like always nobbel! And just saying there was supposed to be a whole RAID about the naga, with the endboss as aszhara, and was to come in a later patch. But due to everyone complaining and hating vash'jr so mcuh the said screw it
I recently found your videos just surfing google for the new expansion. Saw your speculation video of the expansion and it was AWESOME! I ended up watching up your Lore Videos and they were GREAT! Then I ended up watching your guides to clear Heroic Modes. You're awesome man and hope you continue to do Heroic Modes and Lore videos - Torduk/Stals - Moonrunner
I dunno, man. Vashj only worshipped Azshara in her life. Why would she worship Illidan? No. Since she bathed and nursed him back to health in back in Zin-Azshari, when she was still a young night elven lady, she kinda showed signs of interests for Illidan. Like a crush, y'know? Something more carnal. It was only later that it got to the point of she standed side by side with Illidan no matter what. But that rises the question... If Vashj still worshipped Azshara but worked for Illidan, would that mean that Illidan and Azshara were in league with each other from the beginning? Interesting. o3o
Definetly not, but think about the possibility of Illidan not actually knowing all of her intentions. She was Azshara, who the hell was Illidan next to her? She needed him, but would not disclose all of her plans. But Illidan is no fool... He woulda got a way to uncover her true intentions.
Can you please tell us something about the ancient azeroth? As you mentioned in the last video about queen azshara. That the old land had been torn appart when the well of eternity had been destroyed. I'd really like to know more about the old world and their inhabitants like the gurubashi, amani and so on. That would be so cool, you made me really curious about this :D
No problem Joe and thank you! I don't know the release date and I don't think they've announced one. My bet would be around the end of this year, it looks like a finished product to me.
Why do we saving Neptulon, if we are killing 3 other Elemental Lords, as they are "leaders of elemental armies of Elder Gods"? And why then does Nagas, who are worshiping Elder Gods, do not make a pact with him then?
Because Neptulon was mining his own business and we only killed 2. Plus do you want Neptulon free minding his business or a slave to the old gods fighting us?
It's "Old Gods" to be exact and also, The Elemental Lords were never really evil... They were fighting each other but they wanted the best for Azeroth, When The Old Gods came.... Well, Let's just say there was A LOT of mind control. Then they became slaves to The Old Gods till this day.
SCII RapterNew The elemental lords did not give a shit about azeroth outside their own interests and there was no mind control. They aligned with the Old Gods because they couldn't beat them.
***** Oh yeah, completely forgot the lore XD I haven't really focused much on lore as I was playing SC2 most of the time lately so my lore is a bit messed up, sorry XD (facepalms)
Our dear Nobbel, I would to thank you for your efforts and I wish you continue doing what you do from narrating to speculation, and I know it takes a lot of time and efforts to do such. My wish is to explain to us why there's a quest at timeless isle where you perform time "travel" and watch Garrosh was killed during the siege, on the other hands the siege of orgrimmar scenario suggest otherwise. Thanks
The final quest in Vashj'ir was recently replaced by a normal kill quest. According to wowhead, the reason was that some players experienced technical issues with the quest, including getting stuck in the submarine for 30 minutes to name but a few. Instead of fixing those bugs, Blizzard decided to remove the submarine ride and the cut scenes. You still get the same reward and achievement for killing those 15 naga, but the epic conclusion gone forever. It's a shame, because it's a key moment in the story of Cataclysm. Now I don't feel like leveling my alts in Vashj'ir ever again. Mount Hyjal was better anyways.
Sometimes blizzard just makes you want to throw an avalanche of stones at them. That quest was epic beyond compare. Im sorry about you aquaphobics out there, but Vashj'ir was one of my favorite and most unique zones in WoW to date.
Mthammere2010 I also liked Vashj'ir when it was first introduced. It looked kinda nice and it had an interesting story line. But after leveling 5-6 alts there it was getting boring and now when the final quest is gone, I just don't see the point in questing there anymore. The problem with underwater combat is probably the main reason why people look negatively at Vashj'ir. It's also one of the reasons the Abyssal Maw raid was scrapped. Still, I hope they continue the story of Ozumat and Neptulon in the inevitable South Seas expansion.
Love your vids Nobbel. I really like your lore videos where I can just sit back and listen and watch (other than reading on wowpeida for hours). your awesome dude! keep making vids!
I'm watching these in order and its getting SOOO old hearing about illidan the exact same story OVER N OVER N OVER he's cool dont get me wrong but jesus lol, I do understand not every1 watch's them in order or knows it already i no i no but it does get annoying lol.I just listen too it in the background while i play.
If you remember Lady Vashj from the War of the Ancients books she was always kind of a toady and probably had a crush on illidan to boot since I do believe they had met before in the aforementioned books. Either way that would explain her loyalty to illidan
In Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne, there is a custom campaign button near the custom game button and click on that. That will give you the campaigns with those cutscenes.
I love how Vol'jin is AFK-autoshotting the Sea Witch that whole fight basically.
Too good to use skillz
Didn't learn the auto shot ability. Thats him spamming shoot bow
I personally LOVED Vash'jir.. I know that alot of people hate it because of hit box problems and Line of Sight problems, but I never encountered those. The place was just beautiful, the music was great, and the quest line was linear, which I liked for the zone because it really felt captivating.

Linear makes sense there. Not like any random farmer lives down there needing help, you are on a mission with the earthen ring.
My favorite zone.
THANK YOU!
"Thrall's balls!" Truly the greatest orc battle cry ever.
Ok, comment section did not dissapoint :D
R.I.P Zuni lvl 1- 7
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAmazing GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAce

I like how you really take your time to make these videoes. Thank you really much. :) Keep up the good work bud.
The scrapped Abyssal Maw raid instance would come to perfect use for the Naga Expac.
Nobbel I love your videos I love your voice, I quit wow about 9 months ago and have recently started again just because your lore reading has inspired me :) I now level alts and do the quest chains just so experience the lore and im loving it, I have also started to read the comics once again thank you my friend :) keep them coming.
Max is that you?
Damn, historic undiscovered youtube comment here
All I can say is; Naga as a playable race. NOW.
That is an interesting concept. What would their racial abilities be like? Like the worgen, they would probably have a land form and a water form. Anyone else have any other ideas?
Nah , they don't find neither the horde nor the alliance an ally and their racials would probably suck
+Dangerosu their land form it would be an normal Night Elf form but a bit different than the current models.
playable murlocs better
Dangerosu Their land form and water form are already the same
We have so many flavors of elfs
we got purple tall ones
white ones with blue eyes
white ones with green eyes
scaly blue ones
we have some with grey skin that are rip off vampires
demonic red ones with green eyes and black wings
and there are probably more
A very good story indeed! I stopped playing WOW in WOTLK so i never got to see Vasjir and all that naga content in Cataclysm. It makes me want to start up again just to see this great content. I will think about it.
Thank you Nobbel for bringing us this story.
I would die to get the Naga as a new playable race !!
Yesss, make them a defected sect that joins the horde/alliance. Much like the Trolls.
+Andrew Dunlap I don't see them on the Horde Side
+Stella Stars Really? Weren't they allied with the Blood Elves? lol
+Stella Stars Plus the Alliance is racist to others like Gnomes, Orcs, etc... The Horde is more likely to ally with The Naga.
Thralls balls indeed...
Greatest line of dialogue, ever
Was about to comment that haha
What's the Alliance alternative? VARIANS VAGINA! WRYNNS CLITORIS!
Rizerr96 *sigh* someone trying to be funny.
FeelTheAzio I think you mean someone succeeding at both being funny, AND, insulting Alliance worms.
It's genius the Cataclysm made a lot of the landscape more Naga friendly. They will attack soon enough!
Recently came across this video again, after a long time. So sad to see that they never picked up on all these plot lines, but instead brought us the sup-par zone of Nazjatar that had not even a third of story content (or any compelling content at all) that Vash'ir had. Vashj'ir has been abandoned, sadly. It's one of the very few zones to be completely untouched by MoP.
What? Tons of zones were untouched in MoP.
Kokainuser Pet battles were added to virtually every zone in the game. And the two world PvP zones had other changes to them.
maybe on your low pop realm lol
This video definitely deserves an update!
I love knowing about the things from old dungeons which I always thought were just "there."
You got me interested in the lore of warcraft! Love the vids keep it up
Is "Thrall's balls" a thing now?
I hope not xD
I say the naga should be a playable race, along with the gnolls. even if the naga were just a worgen rip-off but with night elves instead of humans, I would still play the ever living crap out of that race. thumbs up if you agree?
Who the fuck would want to play as a naga
Fleet Admiral IKrunch You must not pay any attention to Wow fanbase. Everybody has wanted playable naga for years now.
Tom M Then watch no one roll Naga
actually worgan are a naga rip off considering the naga came to existence first
Actually a crap ton want naga as a third faction similar to how pandaren work but we probably won't see it happen
Modern day water toxicity would exterminate the Naga.
Or pre modern voodoo run-off
They'd probably just use Neptulon to purify it, which isn't that bad an idea....
***** So it would be a bit of a good thing to have Naga faffing about?
Factual Paladin About as good as keeping a spider in your house so it eats those pesky mosquitoes.
that's probaby why they took Neptulon, to make him purify it XD
It's always possible, perhaps Vasjh wanted to overthrow her queen, rule herself. Or perhaps she had a little crush on Illidan..but that's never been told in the lore. "Thralls balls, im sick of fighting Naga!"
Thank you soo much for this and all other vids. You alone have made me decide to buy all warcraft books and read more quest texts in wow. A whole New experience to Me, and it's great! Thanks again.
I am of the minority that enjoyed Vash'jir
I really don't get why people dislike it...
It was such a cool idea!
I love it !!
I love this video, it explains so much about the illidan, vashj, and kael'thas alliance we see in outlands.
Anyone else notice Ozumat looks A LOT like an Overseer from StarCraft? Good one Blizzard. Seriously, good one.
Man I love these lore videos, they make me wanna play wow again and really pay attention to the quests.
22:16 Look, playable Naga! Get on it already Blizzard!
+Nicolton Blizzard so needs to make it happen already..../fingers crossed for next xpac....=)
Nobbel I think you will be very happy with the expansion "Eye of Aszhara" which should be coming after WoD, probably lots of new lore to find there :D
In the Part were you get to be a Naga battle maiden I would rather of been the kvaldir ( Underwater Vikings is awesome)
Howdy! I answered this question in my Q&A #2. The videos on TH-cam show Lorewalker Cho his interpetation of the story. The real version is the one we see ingame, otherwise the events of MoP wouldn't make much sense. They've also confirmed this on twitter.

This is crazy I didn't even put these together. Thanks for sharing!!
Well, now we know where that Kraken scene from Pirates of the Caribbean Online is from
And the part when the Mermaids came from the ocean when one of them sung !! That scene was like how the Naga came to Azeroth from the ocean when Illidan called them.
? Kraken scenes go way back
You mentioned him alot Nobbel, i loved the video alot and man i would love to know more about Prince Kael' Thas now that you mentioned him alot in the beginning! Love the lore videos and keep up the awesome work!!!
i wish i could play naga as a race
Hey Nobbel, I love your Lore videos since I also really like the WoW Lore. And your voice is awesome for the story telling. Thank you!
Why do we ally with Neptulon and Therazane when we kill Ragnaros and Al'Akir? Surly the Titans had a reason to lock all four of them up, so why is it that we kill two and ally with / rescue the others?

Neptulon just wants to give the world pure water. And thats how we got Dasani
18:08 and their powers combine. we have captain azeroth
Captain Azeroth, he's our hero,
Gonna take pollution down to zero,
He's our powers magnified,
And he's fighting on the azeroth's side
THRALLS BALLS!
Excellent video Nobbel! I hope we see more of the Naga story unveiled in the future.
How does Ozumat beat an Elemental Lord? Wouldn't Neptulon be a lot more powerful than a Giant Octopus?
Im such a huge fan of the lore which surrounds the Night elves, the Highborne and the Naga. Its so interested, and ofc the characters involved with that, Azshara, Tyrande, Illidan etc
I'm saaaaailing
Very detailed, thank you for putting all of the effort in to compile these videos!
they should of just made naga as a playable race instead of pandas in MOP but then i guess we would have a lot of underwater crap and that would suck
vashj'ir is such an awesome zone. the abyssal maw dungeon was beautiful as well. its a shame blizzard discontinue'd the story i love that place
I want Naga as playable race and I don't care what you haters think.
and how will you fit that in the lore? who will they accompany?
nagas are enemys of the whole world because they follow sargeras
Maybe not as a playable race, but a Naga expansion dealing with Azshara coming back, taking control of the oceans and declaring war on all land creatures? Oh Hell yes.
Wow, thought this post was long forgotten, two years back.. but as to your question about legs, they can make it so that wen mounted or out of combat they can change to Blood Elves, just as worgen change to humans, Having a lore backstory that they want to return to their former elven nature.
No kidding, best to just ignore it.
Geraduss Fancy saddles!
Great vids, Nobbel! Thank you very much, it always puts a smile on my face when I hear the intro tune :)
i prefer the version of the story, where lady vashj was queen azshara. bc ftw!!!
the rpg books say that leviathans and krakins are mutated naga called naga anomalies
+Thegr1n RPG books aren't cannon anymore
Vash'jir had the best story in cata :3 i love it so
Thank you :) and always a chance! I'll add it to the lst for now.
as much as i hated cata i wish they wouldn't of pushed mop out so quickly, maybe then they could of finished the story of the naga or atleast not leave so many questions. oh well, love your vids :D! they should make a movie haha.

THRALLS BALLS! NOT MORE NAGAS!
I dont really play WoW but I love your lore videos !
I would love to see a "rise of queen azshara" expansion . Just please , no underwater zones . Lol
I loved it when Naz'grim said "Thrall's Balls"
illidan still my fav character, was so sad when he lost to arthas...
Thralls balls, i'm sick of fighting naga? REALLY? BLIZZ? REALLY?
Great vid! I bet it was hard work to collect the data from all the naga involving quest. So I want to salute you and say keep up the good work.
Still think Vashj was in love with Illidan.
+João Le Peixe -q Basically I thought that too,but I think she was moree of a worshiper than someone who could love.
Interesting. o3o
+João Le Peixe -q i dont think that illidan would have been okay with what azshara allowed to occur
Definetly not, but think about the possibility of Illidan not actually knowing all of her intentions. She was Azshara, who the hell was Illidan next to her? She needed him, but would not disclose all of her plans. But Illidan is no fool... He woulda got a way to uncover her true intentions.
wasnt he brother of the high druid leder and best of the mage apprentices at the capital city? not much but not small potatoes
Can you please tell us something about the ancient azeroth? As you mentioned in the last video about queen azshara. That the old land had been torn appart when the well of eternity had been destroyed.
I'd really like to know more about the old world and their inhabitants like the gurubashi, amani and so on.

Thrall's balls.
No problem Joe and thank you! I don't know the release date and I don't think they've announced one. My bet would be around the end of this year, it looks like a finished product to me.
I wish that they would hire more voice actors instead of using Metzen for everything.
Vol'jin, Thrall, and Varian all sound too similar.
Nobbel, your youtube channel is quickly growing into one of my favorite youtube channels, keep the great work going!
Why do we saving Neptulon, if we are killing 3 other Elemental Lords, as they are "leaders of elemental armies of Elder Gods"? And why then does Nagas, who are worshiping Elder Gods, do not make a pact with him then?
I Believe Neptulon was never "Evil" he was simply a slave to the old gods and never wanted to fight the others, then again.. I'm not 100% on him.
SCII RapterNew
The elemental lords did not give a shit about azeroth outside their own interests and there was no mind control.
Thanks
Naga Please
My naga!
***** lol... dat wordplay do!
i saw someones guild called "naga stole my bike" XD
Why are there humans on the Orc ship?
madcat789 I believe they were mercenaries.
+madcat789 they mention it on the boat if you wait for some of the dialogue
Keep up the good work nobbel, you keep me interested in the lore aspect of this game even though I unsubbed from wow a long time ago.
"Thralls balls!"

Really love your wow lore
Thalls balls hahahaha
Jordan Wilson why r u writing to yourself ? o_O
???
If you remember Lady Vashj from the War of the Ancients books she was always kind of a toady and probably had a crush on illidan to boot since I do believe they had met before in the aforementioned books. Either way that would explain her loyalty to illidan
Vashjir is such an awesome place idk why most people hated it...it starts slow but ends with a punch. and tonnes of story based quests!
There are no stupid questions! Gamon doesn't have a lot of backstory, but I've coverd it in my "Who will be the next warchief?" video.
You need to keep in the mind the dialogue suggested Vol'jin assumed Zuni could be healed, it wasn't revealed his soul was torn until after he left :P
In Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne, there is a custom campaign button near the custom game button and click on that. That will give you the campaigns with those cutscenes.
My pleasure and I'll make a video about those visions when I've collected all of them myself ^_^
Sylvanas storyline would be great! These vids keep getting better and better.
dude. 'the dark below" this is so gonna be the expansion.
maybe even with naga as the next playable class
Keep up the great work Nobbel.Makes me want to return to WoW!
