I think 10 000 years guarding Illidan was one thing that ultimately drove Maiev insane. It has been stated many times she was as much a prisoner as Illidan.
People don't get that Maiev is much more a believable character because she is not flawless, she feels anger, guilt and other feelings that we feel. thou we all want to be Tyrande and forgive and love everyone, we can't, we all feel anger and some of us can't let go of it. Also stop hating Maiev cus imma fanboy of hers

This is one of my favorite stories in WoW because it's a perfect who is the real good guy story. Maiev on paper seems to be the good one but she is driven by jealousy, personal gain, bitterness, and vengeance. Illidan on the other hand seems evil with his demon looks and addiction to power but every time he has tried to do something good for his people, misguided or not. He basically got chucked in jail for 10,000 freaking years for trying to help his people create a new well of power. It wasn't his fault the high elves were crazy sauce and tried to summon demons but he seemed to have gotten blamed for all of it, even by his own holier than though brother.
Maiev is my favorite NE character, she is so much interesting than that bitch Tyrande, I hope she gets more story in the coming expansion but not another "hurr durr I'm corrupted" instead some good story with her aiding us defeating the Legion and taking her rightful place as a hero.

Oh! forgot to say that yeah, maiev will probably come around in HOTS soon enough...she really doesn't even need that much tweaking to be competitive. A short ranged blink, no skillshot dot and a aoe instant is pretty solid. give her a new ult and tweak the old one and shes prettymuch ready to go...you know, if they really don't want to avoid op nonsense.

So Illidan basically did nothing wrong. He helped save the world with his new power, he tried to make a new source of power for his people so that they could defend against the legion again and then even after ten thousand years of imprisonment he still helped defend against them again! After showing that he is an ally over and over again his brother cast him out just because he looked "Dirty". Everything that Illidan did 'Wrong" was purely for self defense, he fought Jarod because they attacked him first. He didn't kill anyone, he didn't do anyone harm. Everything he did was just considered taboo and unwanted because the rest of his race became complacent.
Yeah, Illidan is one of my absolute favorite Warcraft characters, he has a very rich history, and sacrificed close to everything in order to save his home.

I enjoy lore on night elves. This is my favorite WOW race. Maiv is a new one to me. She is really cool. She is the main character for Night Elf warrior women. Warden is a cool title.

Ive always hated how Illidan is basically the one who restored so much of the NEs power AND the reason they were able to get back there immortality yet they chose to imprison him for 10,00 freakin years lol In the end he was right to... The legion did come and the world tree being was a huge sourse of power that was used to draw archimonde into a trap. I would have went crazy to Illidan. I feel you.

Hey Nobbel, I've had this question for a while now since I watched your video of the light in world of warcraft. In it you mentioned that night elves train in the way of the light as priests but since another aspect of Elune was her warrior side they trained in both the ways of the light and the ways of the warrior. So my question is, why can't Night Elves be paladins? Because paladins train in both the ways of the light and the ways of the warrior, so it would make sence right? Is it because the light works differently for night elves thanks to Elune than it does for humans since they don't have a deity they worship? And if that's the case then how come the taurens can be paladins since the do have someone they worship, The Earth Mother. Sorry for the long question. Hope you can answer. Thanks :)
+Andres Castillo In theory any race that wields the light and has the skill to fight with weapons could become paladins, gameplay mainly why they don't. Blizzard wants to keep them somewhat unique.
+Aleksa Petrovic I always thought the sentinals also had Huntresses who were the more front line heavy melee type. Although still not as heavy as say a paladin.

What was the night elf capital after the Sundering but before Teldrassil? In WC3, they sort of lived all over the forest, and there definitely wasn't any city atop Nordrassil.

But my personal question is, do you think that we'll see some interactions between the split clan members, and which notable members might meet the other Highmountains on the Isles, like one of my personal favourite characters, Trag Highmountain, the tauren servant of Baron Valimar Mordis, resurrected by the shards of the Orb of Ner'zhul, or Melgromm Highmountain, combatant at the Dark Portal?
Based on blizzard's bio for Maiev on the Legion page, saying she will never let the Demon Hunters be free, I think she might be the final boss of the Demon Hunter starting zone.
Maiev is one of the most baddast characters because even when Illidan turned into a demigod ruling most of outland, she still swoops down on him and be like: "Supp Maggot! Missed me?!"

I have this amusing feeling that it will be Maiev who will convince Illidan to come to our side in Legion. After all... without the hunt, the huntress is empty. And I also firmly believe that there is more to Illidan ordering Akama to keep Maiev alive rather than just revenge... if all those concubines in The Black Temple were saying anything about his Zeus-like sexual energy.
This is my favorite series so far! I love the animations. It's too bad you can't record yourself reading all the lore books too, I thoroughly enjoyed the story telling part in this clip. :p
Ahh back when Tyrande was the leader of the night elves and a head strong priestess of Elune, not a submissive to Furion/Wrynn. And Maiev was the stern, arrogant warden whose thirst for vengeance made her a villain to Illidan's Anti-Hero. Kind of sad certain characters like Tyrande and Thrall have gone so far downhill. Hopefully Legion can redeem Illidan's and Maiev's character. On another note, fel magic, like the legion uses consumes life. So opening a portal was probably legitimately consuming the power of the well of eternity. And when Illidan consumed the skull of Guldan it isn't surprising his soul was consumed. It has been suggested that like Demons his true self resides in the nether realm, so he is in theory immortal on Azeroth (can die in the nether). You'll notice a continual theme of sacrifice and death with demons as all their engines of destruction use fel energy and hence burn/consume life from the world or individuals.

Nobbel.... PLEASE do a Jerrod Shadowsong video. In the books he rides solo against Archimonde to duel in open combat(knowing he'd lose but it would give the r4est of the army time). One of the most bad ass moments of the book(tied with Brox jumping into the twisting nether to confront Sargeras).

Not even the legion could have turned ilidan in something worse then 10.000 years in imprisonment did and those guys turned some sissy ork warlock into the flippin lich king. I dont know about you but eternal imprisonment is infinitly worse then beeing simply executed. Malfuion even planned to let ilidan be imprisoned imagine if legion still had tychondrius and the skull of guldan which would kill or corupt the entire forest, they would have lost the war. I could continue with this for a long time but i hope you catched my meaning by now

Night elves might be ignorant but malfuion is much worse

Aegwyn did it and i never saw her in hippy robe hugging trees so yeah argument invalid arcane magic defeated the legion multiple times druids and shamans not once.

Ive always hated how Illidan is basically the one who restored so much of the NEs power AND the reason they were able to get back there immortality yet they chose to imprison him for 10,00 freakin years lol In the end he was right to... The legion did come and the world tree being was a huge sourse of power that was used to draw archimonde into a trap. I would have went crazy to Illidan. I feel you.

Hey Nobbel, I've had this question for a while now since I watched your video of the light in world of warcraft. In it you mentioned that night elves train in the way of the light as priests but since another aspect of Elune was her warrior side they trained in both the ways of the light and the ways of the warrior. So my question is, why can't Night Elves be paladins? Because paladins train in both the ways of the light and the ways of the warrior, so it would make sence right? Is it because the light works differently for night elves thanks to Elune than it does for humans since they don't have a deity they worship? And if that's the case then how come the taurens can be paladins since the do have someone they worship, The Earth Mother. Sorry for the long question. Hope you can answer. Thanks :)
+Andres Castillo In theory any race that wields the light and has the skill to fight with weapons could become paladins, gameplay mainly why they don't. Blizzard wants to keep them somewhat unique.

What was the night elf capital after the Sundering but before Teldrassil? In WC3, they sort of lived all over the forest, and there definitely wasn't any city atop Nordrassil.

I just read the books. As i remember, the houndmaster didn't kill the highpriestess. I recall she was being impaled by spears and died of her injuries later on.
Would you consider doing a questing series? Like covering all the quests, telling us all the lore behind it, to what they are related and such.

Im pretty sure Hakkar didn't kill Dejahna. She died from wounds inflicted on the battlefield from the demons

BUT on our known continents, we also have a Highmountain Tribe
The Highmountains being a nomadic tribe, do you think, when the Well of Eternity imploded, this part of the tribe got split off to the Broken Isles, and so they evolved accordingly?
But my personal question is, do you think that we'll see some interactions between the split clan members, and which notable members might meet the other Highmountains on the Isles, like one of my personal favourite characters, Trag Highmountain, the tauren servant of Baron Valimar Mordis, resurrected by the shards of the Orb of Ner'zhul, or Melgromm Highmountain, combatant at the Dark Portal?

Based on blizzard's bio for Maiev on the Legion page, saying she will never let the Demon Hunters be free, I think she might be the final boss of the Demon Hunter starting zone.
Maiev is one of the most baddast characters because even when Illidan turned into a demigod ruling most of outland, she still swoops down on him and be like: "Supp Maggot! Missed me?!"

Ahh back when Tyrande was the leader of the night elves and a head strong priestess of Elune, not a submissive to Furion/Wrynn. And Maiev was the stern, arrogant warden whose thirst for vengeance made her a villain to Illidan's Anti-Hero. Kind of sad certain characters like Tyrande and Thrall have gone so far downhill. Hopefully Legion can redeem Illidan's and Maiev's character.
On another note, fel magic, like the legion uses consumes life. So opening a portal was probably legitimately consuming the power of the well of eternity. And when Illidan consumed the skull of Guldan it isn't surprising his soul was consumed. It has been suggested that like Demons his true self resides in the nether realm, so he is in theory immortal on Azeroth (can die in the nether). You'll notice a continual theme of sacrifice and death with demons as all their engines of destruction use fel energy and hence burn/consume life from the world or individuals.
