    After changing out the OEM impeller housing twice due to swelling, I finally bit the bullet and installed the Solas stainless steel impeller housing. Hopefully I won't have to do this again.
    Video includes servicing the cone bearing and intake screen.

    Your original video replacing the impellor housing is what convinced me to get a jet boat. At the time I was dealing with a stern drive and the jet pump looked SO much simpler.

    I have a 07' AR230 that has always been used in salt water. I replaced my housings just after one year, fortunately for me I made the right decision to buy the aftermarket stainless units from Riva and never looked back. From my experience so far the open end, nut retainer design works and I haven't had any issues.

      Yes, it begins to wear down the edges. Left for too long and the damage to the Impeller would require it be replaced, so far I have gotten lucky. Watch my earlier video on this issue as it goes into that more: th-cam.com/video/YDIGz1VXLls/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Qbon3BjhPXKS67hX

    Captain Leon out of topic on your post, not know how to directly email you. I subscribe to your channel and reality appreciate your help through your videos. I have same model 2013 SX190, recently I’ve seen random, intermittent, not consistent oil leak on the bilge, I did tape a paper towel to find out where it’s coming from, initially thoughts could be from bolts, I also read someone post that could be on the oil cooler right where oil filter attached. I have telescopic video camera but still can’t pinpoint leak.
    Just want to know if you’ve seen same, or is it something I should be worried about, oil leak does not impact the oil I see on dip stick so far, but will keep an eye on this.
    Appreciate your help.

    • @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore
      @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Edgar, I have not experienced this. The only thing you could do is keep wiping everywhere with a paper towel to see if you can find where it's coming from. Any chance it's weeping from the bottom of the oil filter?
      Watch this video from "Boating Propless" it may shed some light on some possibilities: th-cam.com/video/xSPrmd_oe2M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=432co72T96HPNvcp

    Were you using antifreeze in your boat anytime that will cause that issue swelling but the stainless steel will be no problem

    • @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore
      @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Coda, the swelling seems to get worse when sitting dry for a few days in-between outings. Returning from a day out, it seemed less severe. How are you determining that antifreeze can play a factor?

    • @codacoda565
      @codacoda565 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Certain types of antifreeze will attack certain Metals in a Tri Val a n c e state a great example if you put regular green antifreeze in a Toyota it will start to disintegrate the aluminum copper and other metal you have to use the pink toyota antifreeze , it is a chemical reaction it does take a little while for this to happen but any contact I would say just to make sure you using correct antifreeze from the Yamaha boat maker I also notice you said you use in saltwater even after you flush engine salt also has a chemical and electrical reaction so if you spray down jet drive assembly inside and out with a corrosion inhibitor I think they call it yamashield

    The wear is due to the tourqe on the impeller when there's a lack of water. Aka cavitation or reving the engine on a hose.

    • @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore
      @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cavitation is due to vapor bubbles when water is being expelled past an impeller or propeller at high speed, this does not take place while reving the engine on the hose. There can be wear from play in the shaft while the impeller is spinning out of the water, but the swelling of the housing in spots due to dissimilar metals is a known issue.
