    hey Michael, did you have any trouble putting the shaft/spline of the impeller back in around 11 minute mark? I have been following along and doing this on my XLT 800. For me the shaft goes in about 2/3rds of the way but then won't go in any further. I feel like it should be sliding right in but it's as if something is blocking it

    My gp1800 (‘19) making some vibration from the rear , I did the change the impeller 6 month ago , what symptoms can be if a wear ring is bad ? Sounds like some friction against something , nothing is stuck under and it is clear .. any advice . TIA

    Is the red gasket more to stop the parts from corroding together and make it easier to pull apart for a new wear ring + impeller? What red gasket brand do you use? Thanks for another great vid

    • @1MichaelJones
      @1MichaelJones  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Jason, the red paste is a gasket maker. It ensure that when the two surfaces are bolted tight together that there are no gaps between them. No water out/no air in to cause cavatation.
      I think I used Permatex RTV in this video. If you you to your local parts store and ask for a gasket maker they should be able to steer you in the correct direction

    What is the red stuff that you put back on the jet pump? I’m going to do mine in a few days, and I’m trying to copy this video exactly.

      It’s just a gasket maker/liquid gasket. There are lots of brands. I would suggest getting a good quality one as they apply a lot easier.

      You absolutely don’t need to use it. Just ensure the mating surfaces are clean and you can assemble without it.

    Is it not possible just too file down and give it a straight razor edge?

    • @1MichaelJones
      @1MichaelJones  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Alan, great question.
      If the prop was to be filed down then gap/clearance between the wear ring and itself would be compromised. This would I fact worsen the problem.
      It would also be quite trick to get the correct angle on the prop without the correct guides and jigs, this could then alter the pitch.

      Hi mate, I think I show it in one of the videos. About 125-130 I think. I’m unsure if the prop is original. But they are really something that should be changed each season.
      There are some cost effective options for doing it now too, the prop and wear ring were about $700 AUD, but there are options that are 1/3 of that which are reliable

    Do you not realize that you don’t need to tighten that prop like that? It’s left hand thread so that the engine doesn’t spin the prop off but rather it tightens it for safety purposes!
    That rubber as you want to call it is actually called an o-ring both in the good old USA and Australia!

    • @1MichaelJones
      @1MichaelJones  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Clinton, there is a torque spec for the prop which is 48-56nm. Much tighter than just spinning it on to “set and forget”
      Thanks for taking the time to comment In such detail

    • @alexanderlittle5191
      @alexanderlittle5191 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unless you let off hard or hit a wave hard and the torque loosens it. It's definitely happened, that's why the torque specs is 100-125 ft lbs
