    This is the first UK review of the 2019 BMW R1250RS EXCLUSIVE!!
    Wow!! BMW got a lot right with this one. If this is your type of bike then this video is one to watch.
    "A proper BMW premium quality motorcycle"
    1. Design: The BMW R 1250 RS features a sporty and dynamic design with a fairing for improved aerodynamics and wind protection. It has a sleek and aggressive appearance, with sharp lines and a modern styling approach. The motorcycle offers a sporty riding position with slightly forward-leaning ergonomics.
    2. Engine: The R 1250 RS is powered by a 1,254cc, air/liquid-cooled, boxer-twin engine. It utilizes BMW's ShiftCam technology, which provides variable valve timing and valve stroke for optimized performance and fuel efficiency. The engine delivers strong torque throughout the rev range, offering impressive acceleration and power for sport touring.
    3. Performance: The R 1250 RS is known for its exceptional performance capabilities. The engine produces ample power and torque, ensuring spirited acceleration and effortless highway cruising. The ShiftCam technology enhances the engine's responsiveness and overall performance, making it suitable for both dynamic riding and long-distance touring.
    4. Electronics and Technology: The R 1250 RS incorporates advanced electronics and technology features. It typically includes a full-color TFT display providing essential information such as speed, gear position, fuel level, and more. The motorcycle may also feature ride modes, traction control, cruise control, electronic suspension adjustment, and optional features like cornering ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and an up/down quick-shifter.
    5. Suspension and Brakes: The R 1250 RS is equipped with a front Telelever suspension and a rear Paralever suspension, offering a balance of comfort and sporty handling. It usually features dual disc brakes at the front and a single disc brake at the rear, providing strong and reliable braking performance.
    6. Comfort and Touring Features: The R 1250 RS is designed to provide comfort during long rides. It may feature an adjustable windscreen for wind protection, heated grips for cold weather riding, and a comfortable seat for both the rider and passenger. Optional accessories such as luggage cases and a center stand can enhance its touring capabilities.
    Please note that motorcycle models and specifications can change over time, and it's always best to consult BMW Motorrad's official website or authorized dealers for the most accurate and up-to-date information about the BMW R 1250 RS.

    It’s air and water cooled not air cooled alone . Great bike so underrated, road one recently a great touring option as opposed to the Gs which looks like you off on a world tour. Which most of us are not it’s quicker than a GS top speed and off the mark. Better riding position and far more comfy feet on ground. Confidence inspiring
    They should be selling this bike above the GS it’s far more versatile. But most want to look like a world adventure which is sad.

    • @exeterrider
      @exeterrider  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I see what you mean there. I guess the GS has higher bars which is a help on the shoulders. The RS has a lean over tank situation which is OK but you don't get that on a GS. I agree what your saying though.

      exeter rider Is this bike aimed at the shorter rider? I have to admit the GS is just too tall and heavy for me. Got a new Speed S and thinking about what to have next lol 😂

    • @exeterrider
      @exeterrider  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@HJM1974 I have a 30inch inside leg and I found it OK but my gut feeling says if the gs isn't suited to you then you will be better with a 800r to be honest. We're always looking out for the next bike as soon as we drive our new bikes from the showroom 😂👍

      exeter rider I had a go on the 17 R1200R and that boxer engine sounded nice. I found the quick shifter real harsh compared to the smooth up shifts I get on my Speed. I am excited to try out the new S1000r when it comes out. I shall also look to try out the updated RS and R then. I don’t think I would get enough smile from the 800 :)

      +HJM1974 Did you test ride the RS1250? Interested to know how you found it as I'm shorter than you! However, I was parked by an RS1200 waiting for the ferry and it looked way less intimidating than a GS....I'd have been happy to take it for a test ride.

    Hi
    The SOS button works this way... if you drop or fall off the bike the SOS button is activated and shows on your TFT screen from which point you have 30 seconds to lift the SOS cover and press the button to deactivate the SOS service. If you don’t press the button within the 30 seconds BMW Services will talk to you from your bike ie your bike will start to talk to you and ask if your ok.
    If they don’t get a response from you they will then call the emergency services.

      Hi ER, nope unfortunately I live up north in Yorkshire so bought from Allan Jefferies, another excellent BMW dealer 👍🏽. She’s due mid September. I went for the Exclusive as you seem to recommend. I’m also going to take their demo out for a longer ride as I didn’t get chance to see what it was like on the motorway as curious to see what wind protection is like after the GSA. I’m a little taller than you (6’1”) but didn’t have a problem on single carriageways. I took a 1200RS out last year whilst the GSA was being serviced and thought then that this would be my next bike. I’m glad I waited for the 1250 though😊. Anyway keep up the good work. I liked your detailed review and I particularly liked the written summary at the end as it’s always useful to have a recap on the stats. It’s the first channel that I’ve seen that does that👍🏽

      Yeap I think so too. But could the 850 handle such a set up. The 850 is powerful enough but adding a shaft would lose a hp possibly. Also the 850 engine is transverse formation so they would have some work to do for getting the engine lined up if you see what I mean. Good point you make though.

      The R1200RS I had and the recent used buy of a 2020 R1250RS both had Illium Works risers already on; otherwise I would have immediately put them on. I had risers on one of the S1000R’s I previously owned but since I bought the bike specific Wunderlich tank bag for the second one, I managed to live with bars as stock. There’s no question no need risers on the 1250, no matter your sleeve length (unless you’re sleeve is 38” plus!).

      I was trying to say you NEED risers on this bike. But, no bike is perfect out of the box, so the screen and risers are about it. I don’t mind the stock seat, whereas on other BMWs I’ve owned it’s Corbin or Sargent.

      Back to the wind issue, I fitted the tall Givi screen which means I can now ride comfortably at 70mph with an open helmet.

    Test rode this y'day. Bit puzzled by the whole "Sports Tourer" moniker. I wouldn't tour on this; it's nothing like as good as a GS/GSA in terms of wind protection. I'm a shorty (5ft 9") and even with the screen set high I was being buffeted big time, around my shoulders & lid. Lovely bike to ride, though, otherwise. The handling of it, in particular, is spot on. But to tour on? Not for me - & I had already put a deposit down.

    • @exeterrider
      @exeterrider  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is a wide taste base with touring bikes. My point really is that with the panniers and touring kit it would suit many four longer trips. Yes the GSA won't be beaten for that type of work but that dosent suit everyone style wise for many. It makes light work of higher speed stuff. Thanks for watching 📺👍🍻

    • @ReferenceFidelityComponents
      @ReferenceFidelityComponents ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't understand how you came to that conclusion? I have one and am similar height to you. I had a GSA and I can tell you this is the more relaxed and comfortable tourer imho, just lighter and more nimble and requires less effort. Screens can be changed, the GS screen is no better. Fit an MRA screen and off you go and do a continental blast. It eats the miles like few others but is better in the twisties than a GS I think. It can be fitted with all the luggage you need too. A bit premature not to buy one because the standard screen didn't suit unless you prefer the higher riding position of the GS which is the only reason I'd pick another GS over the RS.

    • @markmottershead646
      @markmottershead646 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As a 3 month owner of a 2019 1250 RS, the only gripe I have is the wind protection.
      I swapped the OEM screen for a taller MRA screen but was still didn’t keep the wind out of my face. So I bought an even larger Givi screen which solved the wind in the face issue but still get a reasonable amount of buffeting, as does the pillion.
      Comparing it to a GS, I think the buffeting issue either lies around the bottom of the screen. or the fork tunnels.
      Would love to hear your feedback on the topic.
