      @@cng1383 I'm 5' 8" (173cm) and I can flat foot the bike with my riding boots on. Even if I was a bit shorter, I would still be OK with the seat height. However, if I had to go on my toes, I wouldn't feel too confident especially with strong winds at a stop. I'd probably go for a cruiser with the lower seat height.

      Hi Mitch, thanks for checking out the video. I like both riding positions. If I could justify spending the money, I’d have my RS and a cruiser. Actually yesterday I test ride the BMW R18 Bagger and the BMW K 1600 Bagger. Great fun! I didn’t expect to like the R18 B given much of the criticism it has received online. However, I really liked it. The RS is a great bike. Unfortunately it is ver hard to get. Typically takes months to get one unless you find a used one. Good luck in your search. Enjoy the ride.

    Thanks for this. Your thoughts on this bike pushed me to pull the trigger on it: trading in my 2019 F750GS for a 2021 R1250RS. Got it in black storm metallic just like yours. My preference would have been the imperial blue or even the Austin yellow, but black is what was available and this bike is hard to locate. I got lucky because the bike is coming from OKC, but they’ve got a sister store here in The Woodlands. Pick it up next week and until then, I’ll have many sleepless nights. Ordered it with the side cases because I actually like the look and they come in handy for helmet storage and quick trips to the store. I’ll use it to travel a few times a year and I’ll enjoy the sportiness in between. A huge appeal for me is that the RS seems less popular than the other variants.

    Hi from the UK.
    Very helpful video. I follow TMF over here.

    Regarding riding position do you find a lot of weight on your wrists

    • @Texas2Tires
      @Texas2Tires  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Beverly from the UK. Thanks for watching my video. I’m glad you found it helpful. I also follow TMF, that’s a good channel. Do you have an RS?
      My new Puig dark smoke racing screen looks awesome. However, just as useless as the stock screen when it comes to buffeting. I like the smaller lower screen to keep the RS looking sporty. The lower setting doesn’t have the buffeting, but not so good on the wind protection. Upper setting a bit better on the wind protection, but creates awful buffeting. Best solution I know of is getting a wind spoiler that you can take on and off when needed. Trips around town or less than a couple hours I don’t mind the wind. However longer rides on the highway really needs some protection that doesn’t create the buffeting. I’m not a fan of the taller touring screens as they take away that sporty look. Have a wonderful day!

    • @beverleynorth4914
      @beverleynorth4914 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As i said its such a tricky balance.
      I agree with you, don't want an upright screen that spoils the look of the bike.
      Certainly don't want buffeting but would be nice to have good protection for longer rides. That Puig screen looks good. Wind spoilers don't look great. One of the things that attracted me to the RS is its looks and don't want to spoil them. So disappointing that so many manufacturers send out bikes with poor stock screens. It's then a pain to find a better one; dont want to buy 2/3 or more before you find one that's good. A bit like they send out bikes with poor seats and you have to spend again to get a comfortable touring seat. Ive subscribed so I'll have a look at the rest of your vids, especially the mods that you've made. I passed my full test over here during covid lockdown at end of 2020. Got a Royal Enfield 650 Interceptor to start on. Looking to move up, will test ride some bikes this year. Don't know whether i should leap to a 1250RS or go for a 850/900 with more hp and torque than I've got at present.
      Ride safe.

I bought mine at the end of 2020 and got a decent deal on the bike because the dealer needed to get rid of it to make room for the 2021 models. My deal was: I received .09% financing, $250 toward my MFS course and $500 worth of free BMW gear thus were from BMW. Check their website for deals. Also because I bought my bike out of state, the dealer delivered it to my front door for free. All in all not a bad deal. Hopefully you live in a warmer climate so you can enjoy the bike through the winter months. Let me know how you like the bike after you have it for a week or so. Hi Gary thanks for watching the video and your comments, appreciate it. As for the iPhone holder, just keep in mind the one I have doesn't work for the newer iPhones because iPhone moved the volume rockers. My friend bought a phone case that has flush buttons so the iPhone holder can't squeeze the volume buttons. Also he bought a newer and better version of what I have. It is wireless charging, my is wired charging with USB cable. Nice overview. The bike is much more impressive in person. However I had a Triple Black 2023 pass me yesterday and the stock exhaust can is incredibly huge & ugly. I believe someone makes a black carbon smaller exhaust which would greatly improve its looks. Also considering a loaded Triple Black & will black powdercoat the gearshift/brake levers and hangers which are silver.

    Really nice bike, good for you that you got the 2020 model with brembo calipers, the BMW branded ones has been causing lots of problems on the rt, dont know why they use them on the 2021 rs🤨. Does the led-indicators meet the regulations in your state?, they look great on the rs. 👍

    • @Texas2Tires
      @Texas2Tires  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I saw some people mentioning that about the other brakes. Since there’s a known issue odd that they would continue to use them. Most likely have a warehouse full of them and don’t want them to go to waste. Facing warranty issues is probably less expensive for them. Yes the LEDs are fine in my state. Do you have a bike, if so what are you riding?

      @@TheFlemmo123 I faced the same dilemma here in Texas. I actually bought mine unseen untested from a BMW dealer in another state. They shipped it to my door. I watched so many TH-cam videos about the bike and endless hours of research that I felt confident on buying in that manner. The only real feel I had for the bike was sitting on an R 1250 R that other then the fairing and the handlebars are pretty much identical. I really love the bike. The only complaint I have is the sound. It sounds like a quiet Diesel engine, which of course isn’t a cool sound for a sporty looking bike. However on long tours, the quieter pipe is preferred to a loud sport bike or Harley for that matter. All the best in your search.

      Nirav thanks for checking out my channel and commenting. I don’t know too much about the GSX-S1000GT. However it’s a good looking bike and seems like it would be fitting the same need as the R1250RS. Couple points the Suzuki is less expensive and probably easier to obtain. The RS is really hard to find especially if you are looking for a specific color. The engines are completely different and you’d be giving up the shaft drive if you went with Suzuki. Either way you can’t go wrong has they both have two wheels. Great if you can test ride them. Not sure about the HP and Torque differences, but the BMW should be the stronger of the two in the power category.

      @@Texas2Tires thanks for the feedback! That’s a great point about the drive shaft. I really like that feature purely from a maintenance perspective.
