I was in the trailer business for 21 years, the Ants trailer is pretty awesome, very interesting. Sold and serviced them all. If you take that much care for the wiring, than you take the care for everything else. That’s where most companies cut the corners. Also in the brakes and bearings. I guarantee they use the upgraded size on the bearings and quality axles and brakes.
Seems like the first company went to great effort with the design and quality of their trailer. I just personally don't see this beating a nice dump trailer, especially with the entry model being around $10,000. The drop deck design and ability to raise the rear of the trailer could be nice, I'm just scared of how much a higher rated trailer would cost. Still nice to see innovation and someone trying to be different.
Thing to bear in mind is some of these markets can be quite specialised. While they may be overkill for some folks, others will see a significant time saving - for them - that will easily offset the additional cost. For example, if it saves 10 minutes a day for a crew of 5, for a 6 day work week that's a time saving of 5 man-hours a week, thats 250 man-hours a year. At $40/hr labour that's $10k a year! Small numbers add up in a hurry.
Agree with comments. It may pencil out if you have enough jobs that you can bid with only one FTE versus two FTE. You would have to be able to use it as a competitive cost advantage. Not to mention you can write it off your taxes.

Wow I check out a video on this trailer. On the video it shows a optional Conveyor belt side dumping, dumping into a wheel barrel, no dumping a big pile of gravel into the street and no clean up they sure put a lot of thought into this
Even though I'm not in the business anymore, I've been thinking about getting a dump trailer. To me, there is a number of draw backs to one so I haven't bought one. This trailer is right up my alley. I have a pretty long driveway and will be cutting in a longer one for my cabin. This will work perfect and save a bunch of time spreading gravel.

I purchased one of their flat drop trailers 14 X 20 hydraulically lowers flat to the ground absolutely amazing I move the skid steer‘s and attachments so fast so smooth ,you can drive on and off at full speed crazy cool great galvanizing I just wish they could use the hydraulic power to make the jackstand go up and down then it would be effortless
That’s so innovative. I remember using a tilt bed trailer with a tarp under the load. Tying it to something and driving away and the load Falling off. 🙏
The mini walking floor trailer (while cool) definitely has a niche market. Years ago at our truck equipment shop we carried a similar product that installed into your pickup bed. It worked alright for what it was(definitely a homeowner product, not commercial) but the drawback was it always left material fore/aft the wheelwell/inner fender, so you had to clean that out by hand. Hell yeah we’ve been waiting for the floating gooseneck video though!

Walking floors are handy! I remember way back in the day the device you could put on your trucks tailgate and it had the tarp you placed in the bed then you cranked the handle it would roll the tarp up unloading the bed.

Thats something. That Thunder Creek in the background belongs to a local tree service. Its cool they featured their trailer at the show before sending it to the company. TC customizing decals on their trailers is very nice

How would you load a 2 foot wide wheelbarrow with a 7 foot wide conveyor, without dropping material on the ground? Is there some sort of chute attachment?

The ANTS trailer people should build a fixture that allows them to stand their trailers up on their tail lights with their tongue pointing directly to the ceiling. Then have the movable parts all functioning. Otherwise at the show when people are looking around for the next thing they would like to take a closer look at, all they See is some more trailers on the ground and can’t tell the engineering that goes into an ANTS. There is a great agricultural attachment manufacture on I 80 in Iowa that stands things up like that to get attention. It shows off the companies talents in welding, fabricating and engineering. As a guy that has seven different types of trailers right now I have enjoyed an inside look at this tradeshow. Thanks

That ants trailer is just a rock river trailer scaled down. They build semi trailers with the same concept. I'm glad someone finally made a small version
The guy from ANTS seems like a stand up guy. Definitely a product I’d be interested in. Never once tried to up sale. He let the unit speak for itself!

the wiring is the first thing I look at on a new trailer...it tells the tale IMO.

My old man made a very simple device to unload from a F250 flat bed. Happy to send pics. Used it for years.

I have used that roll out tarp thing you were talking about. I liked it for light stuff
But the thing you're talking about doesn't have an actual metal piece "pushing" the material out like the ANT does.
It looks like a straight pull without any wheel well issue.

We have 3 ants trailers, mainly used to haul concrete chunks and materials for projects, they stay clean and work great.
The ants trailer was awesome. Especially in a landscape application. Kudos to them for the fiend testing!

Some are powder coated but done very good and hold up great. They are primed and top coated equipment Grey.
They also do some In a galvanize coatings.
if you like trailers look up shed happens, he repos, and hauls sheds around, the trailer basically loads the shed itself once you back it up to it

they are really good for mulch and topsoil they work great for loading wheelbarrows and skidsteer buckets without dropping the material on the ground
