    I had bought two 40 ft diamond c engineered beam goosenecks for my hot shot business. They were incredible I ran oil field equipment in the mountains and hills and back roads of Ohio Pennsylvania and West Virginia. So they took an absolute beating I loaded them daily 15 to 20k and put 100,000 mi on each of them. Only problem I ever had was replacing the brakes and that's only because the drivers would never set the break gain right for the weight. And I had a bad spare tire bracket that broke off which they change the design after

      Very good points. There is a reason nobody builds a trailer with hardened steel for structural members. Sure, it would be strong and rigid. It just wouldn't handle a pothole very well. A ductile failure is far safer than a brittle failure in this scenario.

    Harder steel is a good thing UNTIL it has been overstressed, damaged or you want to weld something to it. Then, all bets are off.

    • @eddiereyna2998
      @eddiereyna2998 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Diamond ♦️ C actually covers that by knowing that most businesses are gonna overload loads and with that said , if your into using a trailer ya don’t wanna always try to put materials that are to the max load .
      They spoke that folks don’t take the time to understand that those miles with overloaded trailers is what wears out your trailer faster .
      I myself have worked in the landscaping industry and we towed our trailers mostly with bumper pull and some with goosenecks but most companies would load rock , soil and the Bobcat all in the same trailer and go to a job site.
      Sure we’d have to drive slower but now I know that what the companies don’t care about is how long will ya be repairing and replacing your trailers cause ya overused em ?
      Well , that’s just my dos pfennigs.
      PROBST !

    • @lloydholt6511
      @lloydholt6511 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eddiereyna2998 I don’t know of anyone who owns a trailer who hasn’t at one time overloaded it, including me. Lol. That said some of the high strength steels require specific welding techniques, filler materials and or welding rods/filler material/wire. Add to that some of the higher strength steels may require pre/post heating to retain strength and prevent the introduction of stresses that could lead to weldment failures. As long as you know this, it’s not a problem.
      Lesser grades of steel tend to flex when subjected to sudden loads such as hitting a bump or pothole. The flexing is a means of dissipating the energy imparted by the bump/pothole. Higher strength steels don’t flex as much and would tend to impart the energy from the bump into the load. Diamond tenders this with the air ride suspension which tends to help dissipate the energy. Don’t know whether the air ride is an option or standard equipment on the featured trailer. Diamond is a great manufacturer who has an excellent engineering team and manufacturing team which, works tirelessly to provide a superior product. Just some thoughts of an old man. Love your response. Please don’t be offended by mine.

  • @cmthomasiii8461
    @cmthomasiii8461 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Can you ask Diamond C if they plan on upgrading the super weak charging capacity of that hydraulic dovetail trailer. You shouldn’t have to plug them in to maintain the battery if you use it almost every day, we run a 30’ goose

    • @williamhall5401
      @williamhall5401 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Well its not a "charging" circuit. It does not "push" electricity into the trailer battery. That circuit is ment to maintain a small break away battery and run interior lights and such. Not to keep a group 37 size battery or deep cycle battery charged. To be honest, if you use you your hydraulics with a low battery and plugged into the truck, that fuse is prolly blown. Those hyd unit can pull over 100 amps when under load. Your "charge" circuit is a 30 amp. Your best bet is to add a warn winch plug to your truck and trailer and run it that way.

    Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter if your axle is on the ground to get charged a toll. It’s how many axles you have to use that gets charged. The reason they do this is because everyone would be raising their tag axles to get out of paying the tolls.

    • @DustyakaDD
      @DustyakaDD 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Scott I guess it depends on what state your in. I heard some charge by the tire, down here in Florida on the toll roads you drive over pressure plates and get charged per axle. You have a five axle setup and lift one you will be charged only for four axles because that fifth axle isn't driving over the pressure plate.

Low profile for forklifts to load pallets and wide enough to get them side by side comfortably. Sometimes pallets are overburdened and need extra room. AND it's big enough I can drive the fork lift ONTO it if needed. I was worried I was going to have to try to make one myself, which may not have been a good idea. Diamond C, yall saved me. I wonder if that new Kush air ride is re engineered. Diamond C purchased back my fmax216 because the trailer would not drive straight. I believe it had to do with the ridewell air suspension and the leveling valve design. I have not heard back as to what the issue was or why they really bought the trailer back. It was 40,000 lb rated just like the one in the video. It is good to see they are improving

    The video is very disappointing. From start to finish it focused on two people talking instead of the equipment being talked about. I would rather prefer seeing enough details of the equipment and leave me to imagine how the equipment works. Instead of talking about the quick release fender why not demonstrate the operation of enhancing feature of special equipment of the trailer that set it apart in terms of preventing "jackknife" on sudden braking, if at all equipped, while negotiating a curve for example.
    Additionally, I like the video to inform me on the safety aspect of the hitch, brake system (tractor side & trailer side equipment), suspension, running gear component, and overall ease of maintenance.

    I was surprised to see the compressor equipment, including the air line connection on the road/driver's side. It would seem to make more sense, safety wise, to put it on the passenger side in the event of needing to use it during a roadside event. I would sure hate to be along side a highway fiddling with the compressor equipment while vehicles were blowing past me at 70+ mph.

      Other small item that could be added to that cush setup is a quick glance sight glass on the load gauge. Could even be replaceable.

    • @ifyoutip
      @ifyoutip 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You want it on the driver side for a few reasons in my opinion. I actually do have a trailer similar to that but all aluminum. I had it custom built. I specifically ordered air ride suspension with hydraulic disc brakes. For axles and suspension I have " Dexter axles / Ride Well suspension" So one reason to have it on the driver side is mine has a shut off switch there. When parked for extended period of time I shut it off. If I am unhooking the trailer or anything at all I spend more time and notice more stuff on the driver side. I don't need to walk around though walk around inspections are a good idea I guess. Also let's say you are up north in the winter. Seems there is always snow and snow banks on the right side. Emergency on the side of the road involving that part of the trailer build? It will never happen in real life to where you can't keep going to a safe place. However you might have an emergency where you can't keep going but it won't be because of that air equipment on the driver side. I have over 1 million miles experience so I can only talk from my limited experience. I know others have more than me. But I extended my air pressure gauges to outside the box. Now I can see them more easily. But extra onboard air connections outside the box seem to corrode and be rendered useless in a year.

      @@ifyoutip I agree with both of the above comments, AC on drivers side and run short pcs of hose to the passenger side and front of trailer for a remote air tap.

      @@SegoMan the actuator I got on my 2015 trailer is the Titan EHB .I think they are now sold as Brakerite. The actuator on my 2021 custom built trailer I don't remember what it is but I think it is the same or else it is a Dexter. . But mine has never caused me any problems ever. Very happy with it. Running a line and tap over to the other side of the trailer is a good idea. Honestly though I have only used my air tap like 3 times in 5 years.

      @@ifyoutip Same here on my Carlisle (now Hydrastar??) brand actuator, I have 2 HD 12k Dexter axles w/ disc on a pipe trailer that I built. That grade 100 steel is just 100k psi yield steel, a36 mild steel is 36k psi, they are just dumbing down the terms so there’s less area for confusion, Trucks use high strength steels from 50k to 120k psi so it’s not a made up thing, it’s just being marketed differently but not in accurately. The reason to use those steels is less weight per strength and rigidity, but they tend to become less flexible and more brittle as you go up, and break more than bend when combined with commonly used thinner steel in those applications.
