my Italian husband Carlo tries the best pizza in the United States...does it really live up to the hype?!??! (I couldn't tell you.. I'm gluten free LMFAO) we hope you enjoy!!
Oh Sarah, we so love the videos you and Carlo present. We are in our mid/late 70s and spent half a year in Italy in 2017, loving every moment, every personal contact, every piece of local travel and every meal we ate, eating foods local to the all the areas we visited, south to north. We have wonderful memories especially of the hospitality extended to us by the people we met as we travelled, even more so in the smaller villages and albergo in which we stayed. Yes, we did visit many of the larger cities, and also gained an even greater awareness of the history of the country but also the devastation from wars. This was particularly poignant as my husband's father fought (with the Allies) at Cassino, so that area was a particularly emotional time for us as we met a Nonna who was a child in that area, during WWII. We met her through our local Guide we hired for the day, as she was a grand-daughter of the wonderful Nonna. If we were younger, we would return and spend much longer in Italy, returning to many of the smaller villages but also finding new places to explore. Viva Italia!!!!!!
Chris Bianco was named best chef Southwest at the 2003 James Beard Awards (the first pizzaiolo to ever receive that honor) and he nabbed the outstanding restaurateur distinction at the 2022 ceremony. 2022 marked several firsts: Bianco was featured on an episode of Netflix hit Chef’s Table and they opened a second location in Los Angeles. I have enjoyed his pizzas for almost 20 years now. Although this pizzeria has been named the best in the country quite a few times, in the most recent (2023) Top 50 Pizza's in the United States survey, Pizzeria Bianco was rated #5....but it's a great reason to take a spring trip to Phoenix and Scottsdale and see the dessert in bloom - and have some fun! (I grew up there.) Enjoy.
Love Carlo's expression when she told him to dip the pizza......like it was a crime!😂😂😂😂😂😂 But he's right ...a good crust has some olive oil on it and doesn't need to be dipped!
I have just found your content, and it is excellent. The two of you are gorgeous together, and your content is wholesome (mostly) and fun. Keep up the great work, and continue living your best lives.
Just started watching u guys yesterday night and u guys are one of my favorite people I watch all your reels they the best keep going never give up we here for you 🙏
I have had amazing pizza in Iowa. Some of the best I have ever had and the guy making it had his processed certified for Neapolitan pizza. Not something I expected in a small town in Iowa.
Not true. The water has to be decent or the crust is awful. Plenty of Italians in Florida but the pizza is bad. So are the bagels. Good places literally import either the water or the crusts and the bread that’s how bad the water is there. Phoenix happened to have the NY Mets Spring training so New Yorkers would go out every Spring. Started moving there. Opened restaurants. Were able to make it work. I know someone opened a place in LA has to ship everything in bc the water is awful there too. But it’s very popular bc it tastes good and he doesn’t put too high a markup just enough to make a small profit. It’s much harder to have good Italian food everywhere if there’s no distributor nearby or decent water or even good farms. Arizona has it all that’s why the Italian restaurants are very very good there.
Carlo has such a “golden retriever-like personality. It’s impossible to not like him! Same goes for Sarah! May you two have a long, happy life together. ❤
Loved when Carlo said "Our friend the Cactoosa!! 🌵". You must start Carlo on his own Pizza Series!!!! Come to #NEWHAVEN CT home of Wooster ST and famous for where the :PIZZA was MADE!!! heheehe best Pies EVER!!! Come to Sally's Apizza or Pepes!! You won't be dissapointed!!!
All you people telling him where the best pizza is...he is comparing it to the pizza in Italy..not just comparing Americanized pizza from different areas. If you have never been to Italy you can't say he's wrong.
Every idiot think their sushi is better than Japanese sushi, their pita is better then greek, their pizza is better then Italian like come on....those countries have thousands of years to refine their national dishes of course your immigrants copy cannot reach the same mastery...yeah there are good ones but an authentic national dish eat in their native country is on another level...
A pizzeria recently opened up down here in Birmingham, Alabama called Capella Pizzeria and they are fantastic. Wood fired ovens, delicious pizzas, and actual Italians making the pizza.
I absolutely love u guys! I love ur story on how u met. Its soo cute how u both r learning eachother cultures❤sending much love here from ahstabula ohio USA
My favorite Pizza is the thin crust meat lovers from FireHouse Pizza & Pub in East Peoria Illinois, it is amazing, and I am addicted to it. I have to get one at least once a week. And btw, it is so funny how you say fing in the subtitles instead of thing.
I'm a NYer who now lives in Phoenix. There's no way the best pizza is here lol I miss my NY pizza every day! I'm gonna have to check this place out now.
@@lydiacooper9260... I'm in Northern MD, and have quite a few Pizza Restaurants...they 'say' they are New York Pizza. But, we have Two, that actually make New York Pizza....Run and made by Italians. OMG, I love it !
Okay so I lived in NYC, Italy, Miami, California. My bf lived in Phoenix as did a bunch of my family (who relocated from NY and DC). Decades ago that’s how long the food has been good there. This was the very first thing I asked: do you miss the food? They said: we can get most everything here except for maybe some of the dried meats & fresh cheeses! Really?!? I went. They took me out to eat at several places. By the end of my trip I ate gnocchi every day bc I could not get “as good as Italy” gnocchi in NYC and believe me I tried it in every restaurant I ate in when living there and visiting all the boroughs for about 20 years. They simply don’t know how to make it fresh or they “cheat” and put ricotta inside bc it’s easier not understanding it’s not the same thing. I gotta give Arizona props they have great Italian food. Not just Italian American food. Good farms. Decent water. A lot of Italians from NYC who love the Mets. A lot of Italian Italians from Southern Italy who like the heat. Most Americans don’t really understand Carlo’s “Italian scale” I get this bc their pizza sauce is filled with sugar and the cheese is not fresh it’s full of oil. New York is the best don’t get me wrong but if you don’t have good Italian food in AZ I have to ask: why not?!? Just cook it. Do you not make your own pizza too? I do. My family always did. The reason to go to the pizzeria was to get it from the brick oven or wood burning oven. Which AZ has too. Remember he said “pizza like Italy” they don’t put sugar in the sauce the cheese is fresh at that restaurant (I’ve eaten there) and the thin crust is done close to Italian style (in Naples it’s quite floppy and can be extremely thin, as Carlo was saying, so he liked the happy medium they found slightly Americanizing the crust). This made me hungry. Imma go eat some home made pizza right now! We made some tonight! Ours was deep dish tho. Mmmmmmm 😋
San Francisco next! Pizza del Popolo, Pizzaiolo, Flour + Water Pizzeria, Pizzeria Delfina .... and for Roman Pinsa, Montesacro is the first pinseria in the US owned by a Roman family (I used to work for them). Montesacro also has two locations in NYC as well!
Omg you guys literally stayed at the same hotel that my parents once did, I was watching and was like wait why does this look so familiar 😂 Also I want to try that pizza so badly!!!
Amazing to find authentic pizza in Arizona! The beauty of America is you can find authentic cuisine from all over the world in almost (key word, almost) in any state. It would have been great to meet the cook or the owner, only if they wanted to be on video of course. Who knows where the conversation could have gone.
I highly recommend Vagabond in Abilene. Though I’m not an Italian like Carlo, I did live in northern Italy for 3 years and Vagabond is very comparable to what we used to eat over there.
Glad that you loved AZ.. its defiantly a beautiful state.. a very large state!! I thought that Pepe's in New Haven CT had the best pizza in the USA or maybe that was a bit ago. Also.. best pizza is a personal opinion and taste.
Sorry but Chicago has no real pizza. You have a lasagna casserole thing you call pizza and a pie you cut up in mini slices like it’s for a children’s birthday party but you don’t have pizza.
Bianco is lovely. It's somehow odd that it's in my Sonoran Desert backyard. :) Good Mexican food is everywhere in The Valley but the best pizza in America? Who would've thought it?!!! I am so glad that Arizona is making its way on the culinary map. We've been very, very late to the scene with one exception, Mexican food. Try Tucson for utterly amazing Mexican food!!!
Pizzeria Bianco is great. Pomo in Downtown PHX is also good, hopefully you'll get to try in your next AZ Visit! DeFalco's Italian Deli and Grocery in South Scottsdale also has some great items!
Saluti dall’ Italia !!! Volevo solo dirvi che amo i vostri video e anche se non vi conosco di persona , vi voglio un mondo di bene e vi auguro tutto il buono e il bello che c’è in questo mondo !!!! Ciao ragazzi!!!! ❤️

There are people who move here FROM Italy, Greece who open pizzeria’s; so it’s possible you might find the greatest pizza ever literally ANYWHERE.

Hey, I'm sure some genuine Italians made their way to Arizona and needed pizza! Glad you enjoyed yourselves.
Pizza Bianco was rated number one pizza many years ago and it was replaced by Una Pizza Neapolitana located in NYC several years ago.
So happy you enjoyed my state, and Pizza Bianco! The birds you see are quail. lol
