In today's episode we were finally able to try out 7th Street Burger as recommended to us by @IngaLam. They aren't the only top tier burger spot in New York though as the very next day we linked up with the Burger Scholar himself - George Motz at his New York joint - Hamburger America to try the ultimate order of his perfected burgers!
Huge thanks to George for having us at his restaurant and taking time to film with us!

@jolly please take care of your health, and not to eat American food too often...
George burger is more healthier as its wihout sauce and simply meat. But will be better eaten without the buns (catbs)
You guys are overly obsessed with America. Please go back to opening packages from your jollybeans. Doing what your doing now, there's a real feeling disconnection from you.
Hello Josh and Ollie of Jolly, I love your videos!
I need y'all to know: you were my blessing today. I have 9 chronic health problems including a disastrous GI tract, but that isn't the problem that makes me terminally ill. I'm on a near starvation diet, exclusively, to control pain. I watch your videos to enjoy food vicariously. Your joy and excitement bring me moments of relief from the pain. I DESPARATELY needed your joy and excitement today, and I'm so grateful you share that with us.
Mexican coke has cane sugar in it not artificial sugar that's why its better
hamburger america for the quintessential diner experience, 7th street burger for when you’re drunk out of your mind 😌 doing them back to back was 100% the move though, i respect
Tuckers in OKC is the best onion burger in the world!
Moneysigneric always says the same thing about 7th street
@@zebrajenks I dunno bunnies on the nw side is pretty good
@@mrxkrankie bro been lacking on the vlog
@IngaLam I am LaceyLam..funny same last name
Mexican Coke is made with real sugar cane and American Cokes are made with high fructose corn syrup. That’s why people prefer Mexican Coke.
Plus ya can't beat glass bottles.
or just go anywhere but America, you get your coke with sugar
@@snifey7694 I’m just explaining why a lot of places have Mexican Coke in America. As an American that loves to travel, I’m aware how shitty our foods are thanks to our horrible government regulations on food safety.
is there any reason why every country makes it differently?
@@melloda it's not every country it's only the US that uses high fructose corn syrup. Mexican coke and British coke are essentially the same.
Ollie is such an underratedly good interviewer. He does his research, he makes jokes but he also asks good questions
Yeah, he makes it more "Friendly conversation" rather than just an "Interview"
Ollie is the Goat of Jolly, seriously. He can charm anyone and bring out the pure giddy warm-hearted joy in both the interviewed and those viewing. Josh is gorgeous. Camerafolk are amazing!.
And that is the reason their channel so succesful and well loved by their fans
Ollie is capable of getting any and everyone to open up while being fully authentic to who he is. I am SO jealous of that innate skill and may or may not have a platonic crush on him for that reason.
true, every video im just more and more surprised by his people skills, I wish I had only fraction of his power
What impresses me most is that he always knows his subject inside out, and because he's interested in the people he interviews, he always gets interesting and honest answers. In fact, he does the job of a journalist, and a very good one!
The video of Ollie introducing his daughter won my heart forever!!! 🎉
I wanna be like Ollie!
I get what you’re saying but I feel like saying innate is almost doing Ollie a disservice. Getting people to open up like any other skill can be worked on. It’s always super obvious how much research he does before they meet a guest :)
Ollie completely destroyed George with his punch lines, 😂 literally in tears by the end of the video
Helps that George seems like someone who laughs easily
Plus, Ollie feeds off of it, so ramps it up with an appreciative audience.
"I don't really think of burgers as being hot" may be one of the saddest, most British things I have ever heard.
Lol!
What does he even mean though? Who eats cold burgers?
@@morbideddie Brits appearently
@@morbideddie everyone who eats at McDonalds!
George Motz is incredibly personable and well-spoken. I've watched him quite a bit over the years and he is so relaxed in front of the camera. He has a wealth of knowledge and I could listen to his warm yet commanding voice for hours 🍔
You've gotta bring George to Korea... his love of good food, good burgers, etc... would translate so well there. And then he can try some of the Korean burger creations as well!
I feel like there are quite a few people on the wait list of being taken to Korea. I've heard that there's a possibility of Sorted Food being one of the guests. Same with the Try Guys. And also the football team that they did some videos with(the team with the guy who really likes Kloud beer).
I mean bringing him to UK would also be a great series trying the meat pie, the haggis burger, meeting sorted
Would be very difficult, he’s not really in the TH-cam game and he has only recently launched his restaurant. Doubtful he gets much time off, they would likely have to pay him substantially for him to even think about, unlike other guests that do for the publicity/free food.
@Chzydawg ... he's quite rich what are you talking about? His burger spot he doesn't even work at except for public appearances...
@@yuugael4010 I first had haggis in 1975. Haggis is lovely, just don't obsess what it's made from & how. And black pudding! Laverbread!
Ollie's description and analogies are unparalleled. I just love it when he describes the food he's eating
My man cannot stop making his fans cry with laughter
He even did the Mexican coke joke
George Motz has maybe the most enjoyable personality on the internet. He's never mean-spirited and his neverending childlike enthusiasm (along with his cackling laugh) make him a joy to watch.
If I were the guest, I would really appreciate a host like Ollie, who has done this research but also asked the questions in the most friendly way!
Olly absolutely killed it this episode. The chemistry between him and George was beautiful to watch.
Y'all realize that these guys aren't really gay, right?
@@jeremy4375what? 🤨
@@jeremy4375 chemistry doesn't always mean romantic love Jeremy. In this context, OP meant that Ollie and George instantly clicked and seemed like they were friends for a long time.
@@zjuriel7510 naw they boinked
@@jeremy4375 So if you have male friends with the same interest you qualify as GAY? Dude, come out already or grow up. Wow....lol
The thing I like about George is that he has such a great personality. Sometimes you find chefs/owners that just seem soooo..... stuffy or loving themself to much. George is not like that. He seems like one of your childhood friend you grew up with and can just relax and have a good time with. Never met him but if I'm ever in New York, I will seek out his restaurant. Thank you for the video.
Didn't he start out as a journalist/ documentarian before getting so obsessed about burger history for a documentary that he started making after
right? feels like someone i know already.
Agreed. If I lived near his diner, I'd go everyday just to see George and hang out.
george is such a fun person, together with ollie they're a comedic duo
What a great episode! Ollie with his great puns, Josh with his laugh and George with just the most genuine passion for his craft. Love seeing you all having just the best time!
Wait, but George's voice is amazing. He could be an announcer 😮
Was thinking the same thing.
Me too!!! What a voice! I came on to the comments for that reason!
The whole time he was talking I couldn’t stop thinking that too! Perfect radio voice.
This! It’s epic. I instantly liked him.
It is amazing to see how far Ollie and Josh have come over the years! Josh was the main focus in Korean Englishman but you can really see how much Ollie brings to the table in Jolly! Truly an amazing duo! Very happy for both of you
Jolly is the main channel now, to me at least :) They seem to have so much more fun on this !
@@Damdebaseyep it’s sort of like what happened with GMM replacing Rhett and Link’s original channel. Or how Hot Ones is bigger than First We Feast and First We Feast growing bigger than their original parent Complex.
And sometimes it doesn’t have to do with views, subscribers or numbers. It’s a day and age where we have literal talk show hosts like Conan becoming podcast, radio and TH-cam content creators.
It’s really been fun to see this organic, natural evolution of the channels as much as have the nostalgia for the Korean cultural channel, the personalities these two have make me cool with the variety show we get, it’s also pretty funny.
Sorry about the long comment lol.
Yep, the Korean Englishman channel was and is so much fun - it's really brought joy to me so many times on so many days rough and otherwise - but it is inherently limited. Jolly is just about fun and exploration anywhere and everywhere. Limited versus unlimited potential. Josh absolutely must be center stage in KE, and anywhere else, let the chips fall where they may. And Ollie's personality is hard to top.
Well and Josh hardly makes new content for it anymore. Ollie seems to be the only one who knows the meaning of hard work.
@@Michael-kf7gm I wish we could see those two college kids again, Armand and Max, who they were seeming to mentor for all of a few videos. But I guess they chose to complete their schooling, which is probably the best choice in the long run. I'd love to see those kids run through Korea and Asia in general together, loving life as it looks like they do.
4:03 I believe, traditionally, that appetites are Whetted, as in ‘made sharp’ and not Wetted, as to mean ‘immersed in water’.
This made me whet.
Clearly. (Phonetic) It's their British humour and twist to it
@@jeffenckeyou win the internet today, sir 😂
George seems like SUCH an all around great guy! Thanks for shining a light on the many good bits of humanity. I have to add that this might be my favorite of all of your episodes. You started my day with chuckles that made my wrinkles proud.
I love when Ollie makes the guest laugh, it’s his gift
I hope everyone finds something they’re as passionate about as George Motz is with burgers
Great comment--wonderful vision!
I agree.
I honestly feel like Ollie was genuinely into this video and interview and was having the time of his life.
I honestly feel like Josh was way too into that egg sandwich. He had no interest in talking to them while he ate that lol.
I'm loving this format you're doing where you cut in to add additional info and jokes!
From someone who grew up and still lives in NYC - you’ve been on fire doing your research and picking out some of the best that NYC has to offer
Most of their trips are very interesting.
As a native Oklahoman, I couldn't be more grateful to George Motz for introducing the Oklahoma onion burger to the world!
"Mexican Coke" is closer to what Coca-Cola tasted like before the recipe was changed in 1985. Prior to then, Coca-Cola was made with cane sugar. In '85 the Coca-Cola company discontinued the original recipe and introduced "New Coke". There was a vehement backlash from Coke drinkers, who did not like the new taste. Eventually the company announced that they were bringing back "the original recipe", but it was now being made with HFCS (high fructose corn syrups) instead of cane sugar. Hardcore Coke enthusiasts continue to believe that what is now sold as "Classic Taste" Coca-Cola in the U.S. is not the original flavor because of the switch to HFCS. Coca-Cola bottled in Mexico continues to use cane sugar and is widely regarded as much closer to the original recipe and flavor.
Hello, fellow Okie!
Beef and onion is just a match made in heaven.
It's also the key to great meatballs.
Historical things lost to greed, so shameful.
I'm an Okie myself. It would be cool if George Motz took Josh and Ollie to El Reno to try Oklahoma onion burgers in Oklahoma.
@OkieJay Josh & Ollie should visit El Reno for Burger Day, where they cook a massive fried onion burger.
This might have been my favorite episode you’ve ever done. The way you two interacted with George was like it was meant to be. Such a great video
This has to be one of your best videos in years - the chemistry between everyone was amazing and the food looked SO GOOD
I feel like your previous NYC trips were just 'OK' as far as food & restaurant choices. This trip however, has been so bang on. Top bagel spots, a classic deli, an Italian-American restaurant, slice shops, now some of the new school 'simple but amazing' burger spots. Hoping for a pastrami episode soon...
I like how George serves the burgers with the pickles separated. It's just so nice.
That was Frigg’n Epic that’s Bloody cool how George has all those classics in one diner & they’re authentic.
Love to see another Collab’ of George & Jolly please.
A lot of Fun & Energy in one vid
I love how Olly always engages so well with the guest, he just clicks with every person
Something about Ollie making George cry laughing made me cry crying hahaha. Such a wholesome moment
Ollie really nailed this one. Did his research and had some good questions and was really funny.
Love how you guys are finally uploading it in full 4k now! Looks so good on the big screen!
the benefit to the mexican coke's flavor is that real sugar is used and not processed granulated sugar
Mexico Coke Ice Cold out of the Bottle…..so good. Coke in the US used corn syrup.
I’m so glad y’all met up with George. He’s clearly passionate about the history and culture of hamburgers. All of you were clearly having a good time.
“It’s hard to place why that’s so good”
It’s actually EASY to explain: The quality is the product of George’s passion for burgers, his 25-year long dedication to immersing himself in Burger History and researching/experiencing the diversity of burgers in America.
It’s the taste of a life’s work.
What an amazing interview. Lovely banter ❤
This is one of the most entertaining "interviews" (taste testing) I've ever seen! Bravo!
It is true Ollie consistently does his research on guests. Quite impressive!
Always! You can tell when he starts talking and asking questions that he has done his research. If you watch their kpop/celeb interviews and he does a far better job then those american tv hosts will ever do.
@@yanansu7313 That's because (a) they know Korea, (b) they care and (c) the quality of their work is their livelihood. The American TV hosts for the most part have big teams who care and their job is simply to deliver it. Because these two know Korea so well, they can get nuance and context into their interviews with K-Drama actors, K-Pop singers/groups, K-Celebs etc that a purely American TV host who isn't invested simply can't hope to do.
I’ve watched every single one of your videos, but at this point, the amount of times you guys have said “why don’t we don’t do this in the UK” is absolutely hilarious 😂
I've made his onion burger at home, and it really is the best burger I've ever had. It's not just that the onions are caramelized, it's that they are caramelized in the beef fat from the smashed patties. And since they are so thin, they become almost like onion jam. That's why you don't need a sauce for it.
I LOVE THAT YOU GUYS ARE BACK!!! I get so happy when your videos post. I watch after work and you two can always make me smile and feel better. Also, I now want a burger 😂
George is a legend. No-one comes even close to him regarding burgers. Also seems like the nicest bloke!
7th St Burger is how McDs started out - good fast burgers (cooked on site) and fries - no seating, eat in your car😁. Glad to see someone is doing this basic fast food. No frills, just good food!❤️😎🐈⬛
Hope it catches on to other areas.
Yes we have so many of these places in London. So good when you are walking back to the hotel
It works in NYC because of critical mass. The sheer volume of people on the street makes it possible. No need for a drive through or parking lot.
@@Americathebeautiful49 There was no drive-thru in the early McDs, that’s a fairly new thing. Even in the suburban areas where space was not limited, there was just a small building and a small parking lot. You went up to a window to place your order and pickup. Then you ate in your car or went home.
Simple and efficient.
This was just genuinely a pleasure from start to finish. No over the top reactions, and it just seemed like you all had a really good time.
As a viewer I just really enjoyed this
Totally enjoyed this video. You did a great job. Thanks.
I always love how you can predict how Ollie will react to foods.
- The more complex, the more ingredients, the less joy
- The more simple, maximum enjoyment.
Watch him enjoy a grilled cheese like it's a 2 Michelin Star course
omg George Motz?! Legend!
This was awesome thank you so much for putting it out I love George❤
Guys, George and to everyone involved thanks so much for sharing. Amazing food and burgers which I can only dream of tasting! Great job 🙂😋😎❤
Thanks to George for the shout out to other burger joints out there that provided inspiration. Apple Pan rocks!
The interview with George was honestly so fun and entertaining lmfao. Excellent vibes all around with you guys, well done!! (Just how I like my burgers 😂😂)
I’ve been going to the Apple Pan for nearly 50 years. Very cool and a bit surprising to see the New York Burger Baron pay homage to a restaurant in L.A..
I agree but then he didn’t mention the hickory burger or the apple pie. After all it is called The Apple Pan. I may have your fifty beat but then I am old.
@@Americathebeautiful49He's featured those on The Burger Show and Burger Scholar Sessions. and I think he's made the sauce on there too
I love seeing George in more and more things recently. Dude just seems so genuine.
I really appreciate George’s respect for the history of these dishes.
Love this series! So happy they are enjoying NYC
Gotta love George, you can see how much he loves what he's doing. Congrats on opening the restaurant!
George is a national treasure in the states, and it warms my heart to see him be so happy, healthy, and successful with his own burger joint.
This was probably my favorite episode. You were on point and George was fantastic.
Bravo
Let's appreciate Ollie for doing a research before take a video. The details he knows is incredible. Love it💖
No one said this, but i love about ollie he always done his homework 😊 everyone always happy that he asked question about their projects etc. Thank you for your hard work ❤
I love how Ollie always does his research. It shows so much respect. Big up!
This video was as delightful as it was delicious. Absolutely loved the chemistry with George and Ollie and id love to see him again in another Jolly or Korean Englishman vid!
Omg I love the brits in America series
George Motz is a hamburger guru and i FN love him. Im glad our boys from across the pond got this experience!!!

mexican coke is made by sugarcane😂you guys are the best to see a review of food especially with ollie being opposite of josh
😅😅 i just enjoyed the burger just by watching these guys eat and give details about it.
The whole idea about burger in america is same topic in nepal and the food here is momos (dumplings)
Momos🥴 So delicious! I would eat those over a burger any day.
@@ResinAlchemist2024imagine my happiness when I found out that the local Indian place (which I was so happy to see here) was owned a Nepalese family. I asked when they were going to add momo? So they did!
This is one of the BEST episodes of Jolly and of Mr. Mott and his restraurant.......love it!!!!
Best food reviews out there. Love the content!
Omg I saw a Mr. FABLES sign in George's hamburger shop.....the Fables joint is original to Grand Rapids, Michigan...
They last Fables closed about 5 years ago...so sad....the Fables double cheeseburger was my absolute favorite! They special burger was called the Mr. FABULOUS
I was married to someone from GR and we went to Fables when visiting his parents. I love a Fab burger. I still put green olives on a cheeseburger. The onion rings were great too.
One of the best interviews in a while, would love to see more of George and their love of burgers :D
I love how confident the guy at 7th street was lol
George is a real vibe man, what a lovely guy
George is always such a pleasure to watch. His passion is contagious!
George reminds me of old Johnny Knoxville 😂 is it just me?

This was pure bliss watching. Gentlemen, thank you for showing such excellent food.
Very proper and funny.
Can't remember the last time I've seen George cry from laughing. Excellent.
The Mexican Coke is Coca-Cola imported from Mexico. It uses real cane sugar in the production rather than artificial sweeteners that are used in the US.
That’s how it used to be originally. Mexico kept it America didn’t
They are from the UK though where coke is made with sugar so it shouldn't taste any different to what they are used to.
@@TheRatchetnclank they have a sugar tax there though
