Castle has definitely stepped up their game with the MMX 8S & the XLX2. I have used both on my Limitless and they run incredibly cool.
I'm currently running the XLX2 w/ a 1717 1650kv motor on my Limitless now. I just geared her back down to 1:1 (34/34) to have fun with shorter runs. Even on 8S, I can do multiple passes @ ~117mph avg back to back, like 4-5 passes & the freaking thing stays cool. After that many passes, the motor was the warmest component at ~150F, no fans. Even when I geared her pretty high, pulling almost 15hp, I was able to get 2 runs & the ESC never got past 152F, which is well under the 200F limit they call out.
We'll see what #s I get with the 1721 2400kv when I get that in, I can't wait to try it out. 😎👍
I'm buying the 1520 1650kv castle motor for my felony. Since you have both is the mm8s enough or is is worth the upgrade to the xl2? Thanks.
@@ant9072 Hi, it all depends on what you're doing with the car. If you're doing speedruns and looking into getting into the ~130mph+ range, then yes, the XLX2 is definitely worth it because it's going to run a lot more efficiently than the MMX 8S. If you're bashing around or doing lower speedruns in the 100-130mph range, the MMX 8S will be fine. You will however need a good cap pack with the MMX 8S. The XLX2 performs amazing without a cap pack. I have done 120mph runs on the XLX2 with ripple voltage of only 0.93V. That's amazing!!

Also, if you currently have any old 6S ESC, working or not working, Castle brand or not, you can send it to castle creations for an upgrade to an xlx2 for $123 out the door. That's an over $127 saving as they go for $250 +tax. I just sent them an old Arrma Blx185 system, the ESC was good but the motor was shot. They're sending me an xlx2 & a 1717 1650kv motor for $275 out the door. Something to think about 😎👍
@@rcbustanut2057 wow thanks for the detailed response. I will mostly be parking lot bashing with occasional speed runs. Nothing crazy just looking to break 100. The roads here aren't very good for speed runs. But the xlx2 is only 50 dollars more. With no cap pack needed it makes more sense. I'm just gonna be running 6s for bashing and 8 s for speed runs. I'm just hoping the xlx2 isn't too much for 6s. Also I have a busted vxl 6s so if they will take that definitely going to trade In. Thanks for all the help!

@@1521joe I sure did. Got it last week. Pretty nice. Made it a few 109+ mph passes and I lost control. Got a on board video uploaded on my channel of the whole thing. Just got it rebuilt yesterday. Went up a couple sizes on the pinion. Now I'm just waiting for a day that isn't so windy and going for another run.

I have the monster x 6s and i dont have the confidence in it like i do my normal mamba x as ive blown one up in my kraton after 2 runs on 6s.
May have to preorder one as a backup to my xlx in my limitless as it scares the hell out of me that it'll blow up Everytime lmao
And fwiw i push 8s through my 1515 2200kv in my limitless and she takes it just fine lol

Nice video, those ESC's are great man. I have the Mamba monster X in my build but the Mamba monster X 8S is another level. Cryo drive, I wonder what it is. but it is a very good feature because I tested it in their SW4 ESC on a vehicle that was even much heavier
Appreciate it man. Yeah the cryo drive basically allows advanced cooling. Which drastically boosts efficiency and power flow. Mmx8s is probably the most efficient esc out there to date.

Cool video, That ESC is amazing i was looking into buying this esc with 1717 1,650KV combo for either my XO-1 roller if i build it and my future Infraction V2. Currently i'm debating if i should build my XO-1 roller with a MMX 8s\1717 system or buy a new RTR and upgrade it later on.

@@Antsmith21 it's going to be discontinued. Xlx is using the same parts ever since the original XL. Castle can't source parts for it and replace them anymore since everyone's blowing them up. So this is step one for them to get back on top again.

Why make a video on the New 8s esc and only run it 6s, that defeats the purpose. Test the thing if you going to test it, throw some cells to it

Just grabbed one of these for my TP 4070 in the ET48 2.0! I'll have to mod somethings to make it all fit, but it should be a fun time.

Just ordered the mmx8s for my infraction v2.stoked. What speeds do you think ill get with the stock infraction motor? Is the stock motor too high kv for this esc on 6s?

If you never intend to go 8s, go with the Cobra. If you intend to do have speed runs it's then hey the x8s

You said mild gearing? What was the gearing. It's a bit frustrating when all info is not given. We all know motors, esc's, that's the easy part but gearing and steering servos and receiver's are almost never explained. I baught a limitless, but have no idea what reciever or servo to buy. Gearing can be figured out for cheap. Please help, anyone.
Hopefully it's better than xlx but time will tell.
It's a max 6 variant. It can get decent speeds, efficient easily is better than xlx. But I am unsure as of now.

Hold down full throttle as you turn the esc on. (Ensure all trims are set to 0 first).
Once you turn it on, the esc will make many beep noises, when it beeps slower, hit full reverse, same thing again with the beeps, after neutral. Let it finish singing and it's calibrated

Fixed it...When using Futaba pls you must set throttle to reverse! Now calibrate esc follow steps outlined in Castle Monster X 8s start up. Your good to go. I hope this helps anyone having this problem. And Thank you for your help!! 😁

What size pinion are you using? I have that same ESC in my inferno gt converted to electric with a tp 4070 motor and custom belt drive. Haven't run it yet, I'm from NY the weather is frigid here.

90-100 mph using the 2200kv on 6s is around 29/39.

It can, but I wouldn't run an scm motor in anything go for a 2200kv cm it'll do better
Check out tp-power for your motors trust me they never disappoint. And can make it custom the way you want it.

Absolutely yes you can. The 1520 is rated up to 8s though, which isn't an issue. Esc maxes out at 6s

Almero because the "s" is for the batteries being in series

Always wire the negative first when wiring to car batteries brother or smoke may come out and it's impossible to get it back in 🤣🤣
Easy mistake to make especially when excited 😁 that cars shifts, I can only imagine your excitement when making these videos man.
I too have done the same mistake in the past, was wiring a heater. Fitting it, wired red before black, fried it but luckily I only fried the fuses.
Adding a fuse to your wiring harness would save your equipment in the future bro from such mistakes. Fuses cost pennies, chargers are a little more expensive.
Hope this saves your equipment and yourself cash in the future brother 🙂✌
It doesn't matter what ends plugged in first. It was already choking to begin with so I'm happy to get rid of it and buy a new one

Information on the internet of this conflicts but I know from experience having fried equipment by making the same mistake. We make mistakes especially when excited or in a hurry, we're fallible men!
Wiring negative first helps eliminate the initial power surge created by arching apparently 😁✌
What kind of road is that you are running on? That is a sweet spot for speed runs.

. Mamba monster x8s esc with the Castle 2200kv motor combo kit.
. CNHL 6s 5000mah 70c G+ battery.
. You'll need a steering servo, radio & receiver.
Gear it 28/34 on 6s and that should be around 115 Mph.

The esc regulates temperature, if it reaches a threshold temp it'll turn on. Once it's under it'll turn off

Can also do it with the 1717 on 6 or 8s just more money. 1717 will easily handle longer runtimes over the 2200.
The mamba monster x 8s is more efficient than an xlx with any cap pack. You don't even need to run one to break 100. Literally buy the 2200kv motor and mmx8s and your set for 130+ mph.

Thanks! Usually for all escs 170°F and under I like to keep them. Sure they can operate at higher Temps but the best performance happens the colder it usually is
