If you're looking for an easy mounting solution for the x-maxx. WFO's esc mounting plate and rx box for max5 works perfectly with xlx2. Bolts on esc plate line up perfectly and mounts the xlx2 as low as possible in the chassis.
Wow thats a beast of an esc. Awesome video and great way to explain everything on the castle link. That is one of the best features on the castle stuff.
I just got mine set up thanks for the help boss! Hopefully it doesn't spontaneously combust when I plug the batteries in and run it for the first time.
And if you have a mounting plate for the hobbywing max 5 esc, the holes on the bottom of the XLX2 are the same so that's a win right there. I'm going to use the max 5 mounting plate from smc for the Outcast 8s. It fits the XLX2 perfectly for example. It's been done already 👍
I put the 1100 KV and XLX2 in my X-Maxx it's been great ...I run my BEC at 7.5 volt and the AUX wire mode for Crawler so I can switch drag break on and off ...The channel I use for AUX wire mode I can adjust the end points to restrict the amount of drag when AUX is enabeled...
@@ExocagedRC 50 spur and 43 pinion right now ...going to need to try your set up ....motor gets a little hot , esc seems to be fine...Castle has not sent cap pack or fans yet...From log cap pack may not be needed...
I have punch control set to 50 percent on mine. Its on a DBXL-E 2.0. It was really violent launch from take off. Was afraid of breaking gears in rear diff. Even at 50 percent it will still do wheelies from a launch. 🙂
So both wires from reciever get pulled out when programming? You should do a full video on you programing and how to connect everything and everything thats needed to do so. Would be very helpful!
@@ExocagedRC wow. Yeah i totally didn't think of that. Well now I feel dumb hahahaha. I got to say tho castle really is a step above the game. Awesome man.. That xl2 is beast... Pricey combo but worth it huh 🤔 🧐 🧐 I got hobbywing max 5 combo in xmaxx... Next I'ma try castle 1100 kv combo 🤷🏾♂️
Hi m8. Do you have any experience with this Mamba xlx2, that it will not turn the motor and its diff. to "program" through a Spektrum Rx ? Thx from Denmark
Are the sensor wires connected directly to the ESC the same between the monster x and xlx2? My xlx2 came WITHOUT the harness coming out of the ESC to connect the sensor wire on the motor. 🙄
the sensor plug is in with the main harness, it can be removed and you can use a servo male-male extension to program of check datalogs without getting to the receiver
What gear pitch you running on your pin/spur? I keep destroying mod 1.5 from a b&m and fastlane. The weight of them, spinning at high speed makes them come apart. It seems like most people end up ditching the belt drive eventually so I don’t think that an option.
Do a comparison in the Xmaxx I remember you saying if castle ever makes a 1100kv motor That you will use that I wonder if it’s really that big of a difference compared to the 800kv
So when it comes to castle link, you basically have nothing plugged into it other than the castle link and the USB cable? So no external battery power or anything? I've never used castle link before, I've never actually even had castle electronics and I just ordered a 1650kv 1520 motor and the mamba monster x 6s esc. I wanted to calibrate the ESC using the software because it looks really clean and simple.
Question, with Hobbywing and Castle what are average motor temps? What is considered to hot that it would cause damage? Putting in larger spur gears does cause my motor to heat up more than the original setup. Thanks for what you do bro!! You’ve helped me to open my eyes to upgrading my motors and esc’s. Almost finished w my Mojave upgrades, m2c, Max 6 w/1600kv and 20 T pinion. Can’t wait to get it out and raise Cain! Bought it a month ago and man I wish I’d know they were doing the EXB roller!!!! Would’ve saved me a ton of coin!!!
Most I've seen on one of these big motors is about 150 degrees or so. They are so big they just move things easily. Now gearing up insanely for super speed can heat them up.
Mine burned up. It toasted the bullets at the ESC. Too much? Ran it in a DBXLE with XLX 2 and a 1100 Kv. Too many amps? The ESC doesnt respond anymore I think Castle gave me something that isnt possible. I have SMC 9700 Mhr batts. It was fun till the fire...HELP!
I currently running old xlx 8s in my Losi Dbxl-e stock motor it came with it will not pop wheelie will the new. Xlx2 1100 kv combo get the front wheels up?!
Nice info man, I haven't use a Castle esc for a few years now ,because when I needed to change settings at the track I could not do that, so I bought a hobby wing with a program box, that what Castle needs for there esc a program box so guys can change setting at the track, I love this new XLX2 but why just 8s what about 8s 10s or 12s this esc would be a bit more user friendly .
Castle does have a Bluetooth set up so you can mess with the settings at the track without having a computer you can simply link it bluetooth to you phone via castle b link and change everything just like on the laptop I love it #exocaged rc I got a question for you if you ever have some time would be great to see if you have an answer
I'm thinking about putting that set up in my dbxle, would it be much of a difference in performance and speed, or is it not much of a gain compared to stock?
From what I've heard, the ec5 connectors are only 120 amp, it needs 150 amp connectors and recommend 200 amp connectors. Pay attention on the videos where the xlx2 catches fire and see if you can see what connectors are being used.
I feel the 1100 is stronger but it pulls more amps, the newest firmware IMO makes the 1100 the better choice now. But the 800 is still seriously strong!
I'm currently having an issue with my xlx2, and I know you're pretty familiar with the xlx2 from using it so much. To put it as short as possible, when my vehicle is at a standstill and I give it throttle to accelerate, it accelerates normally, but as soon as I let off, let it roll for a few seconds then get back on the throttle, it'll brake. It will roll completely freely, until I apply throttle again... I have no drag brake enabled by the way. I apologize for the long comment on an old video, but I just wanted to see if you had any insight on this issue.
The consensus so far on the groups is the 1100kv is almost undrivable in an xmaxx, impossible to keep the front down 🤣🤣 maybe it will be better in a k8s due to more weight
Only one I know of that has built in Bluetooth is the AXE for crawlers and thats amazing!! Have I missed something? Has Hobbywing updated the others? I need to check!

That is going to an AWESOME stroked, blown big block motor in your XMAXX!!!! 👍👍👍
Yes it will
I have an outcast exb sitting in the house empty of electronics.
I'm still undecided which motor esc combo to go for.
I'm leaning towards this.

What’s your thought about putting it in the XRT?
What is your all time favorite set up for the XMaxx for speed and bash ability?

in both the xmaxx and kraton I'm currently using the stock mod1 gears without issue.
Will that 1100kv can fit a arrma talion mount or is it to wide of a can?
no sir, this is about the size of a soda can.
