I played rotation a lot with some Filipino guys years ago and it's fairly simple. Basically the foul rules are: 1. If I take a shot (say on the 1) and miss it, the other guy has 2 options: play the shot form where it finishes or pick up the 1 and cue ball. Spot the 1 and then have ball in hand with the white behind the balk line. If there are other balls near / on the spot, the 1 is placed behind them. 2. If I have a tough shot on, say, the 1 and it's obvious that I deliberately didn't try to shoot the 1 (a bit controversial usually) then you can call me on that and call it a foul. I have the option to either play it as it ends up of make you take the shot again, putting the cue ball and 1 back where they were (like in snooker). That's pretty much it really. Other than that it's like 9 or 10 ball in the sense that you run the balls in order. You get the face value the ball you pocket (can be combo too) and the first to 61 wins. Total of the balls is 120. It's a good game. It can get very tactical.
Sounds fun. Gotta try it! Here in Utah among us polynesians, we play a game called "Numbers". Same rules as 9 ball but with all 15 balls. You don't win by making the 15 ball though. Every ball you make you collect at the end of your turn. At the end of the game you count the balls you pocketed by the numbers on the balls. For example: the game is over and i only pocketed the 2, 6, 7, and 15. My points total for the game is 30. Player with the highest points wins the game and money. Usually every player pays $5-$10 a game. And you can play with 2-5 players. Really fun game especially when you win lol
The key to winning in rotation , from what I have seen, is letting the opponent pocket the small number balls and try to get on the table and run the 10 thru 14 which will give you 60 plus any small balls you may have pocketed. If you get on the table say at the 8 or 9, you have less interfering balls and a better chance to run out to 60 points. Of course the other guy has to miss and you have to have a good shot to start. Looks like a fun game for two fairly evenly skilled players. I have never played it, but would try.
