In honor of the GOAT while he is still with us, we should have The Efren Reyes World Cup (Mosconi Cup is Europe v USA) - Asia v Europe v US. Sponsors out there get your act together now before the GOAT is no longer with us.
Its amazing that i came across this video today. I have known Rfren going back to 1990. I was not good enough to play him on the pool table, but did practice with him often when he was in LA playing Cash Games or Tournaments at Hard Times. I played a lot of Chess with him. I agree with what he said him this video about wanting to play games where he could use his mind. We took turns of beating each other in Chess, He was a very strong player back then. My guess he was around a USCF rating of 1800. He often asked to used my Sneaky Pete maybe by Little AL to play snooker with the guys at Hard Times. He never lost a game with my Cue and i still have it today.
I played Efren in 2017, the game was the best three out of five in nine ball. Of course he beat me and I enjoyed it. - - - If you are ever in the Huntsville Alabama area just stop by Steve's Cue and Grill - - - - as you walk in you will see a picture of Efren and I on the left just outside the entrance of my cue repair shop - - - I'm there every week, if I'm not in my shop just walk up to the bar and look to your right - - - I am normally setting at the first table having coffee or unsweetened tea - - - if you shoot pool, since I own all the Diamond pool tables in the bar, the table time will be on me!
He may not have the most us open titles or world championships, but everybody learned from him in the 70s and 80s, from kicking to safety, that's why he is the GOAT.
It is acknowledged he don't have the most World Championships or US Open titles butt they know he's usually the best player out there because big money events he always wins.
Ang sarap maging lolo mo si efren, biruin mo gabi-gabi before ka matulog mag kukwento siya sayo about sa karanasan niya sa bilyar at naging no.1 siya sabuong mundo.
Im a Asian America .Efren Reyes thought me to be Humble my Tatay passed away in 1988 .Efren Reyes reminds of me tatay face similarly . I watch your all the time
I would have loved to hear more about the Color of Money match of his with Earl Strickland. I know Efren was behind with a huge deficit and he climbed back and won. I think it's the greatest one-on-one pool match ever between two of the greatest at that time. I'm glad I am alive to witness the greatest pool player of all time. Idol!
Living legend. Remembered the days when my father and I use to watch billiards. Grew up idolizing Mr. Efren. His duels with Mr. Strickland are the best. Thank you for bringing honor to our country, "Bata". We're really proud of you. #TheGOAT 💯🇵🇭
Efren placed third in the Derby City Classic one pocket division in 2023 at age 68. He defeated many notable players including Alex Pagulayan, Joshua Filler, Skyler Woodward, Josh Roberts, Gerson Martinez, and Nauyoki Oi, only barely losing to the first and second place finishers Tony Chohan and Jonathan Pinegar.
tang ina yung d ka papasalihin sa tourna sa sobrang galing mo .. huminto sa pool ng 6 years kasi walang gustong lumaban .😢 grabi sobrang galing tlga nito sa prime niya . ❤
For me it's his humility that makes him even a bigger champion❤❤❤ I enjoyed watching this man play for so many years he is by far the best player of all time.
@@dormamo6917 it all has to be effects, it would be best if they picked someone who can pass as a phillipino, but someone who can mimic Efrens style which is very distinctive
Let me refrase this. It should be unknown actor who will learn the basics very well and study Efrens style but the most crazy magician shots would have to be cgi. Also it be cool to see Efren as a child, teenager and then coming to America to a big stage. Its so movieable
i first discovered Efren 20+ years ago when i was in high school. I was bored and i just open the TV and it's the match of him vs Alex Pagulayan. Final match, Alex end up winning the tournament but Efren made a lot of good plays and i end up became his fan.
In eighty four Efren had a stakeholder and a giant 6’9 black bodyguard who would wear a full length brown mink coat buttoned at the neck- l had been in pool halls my whole life- my “teacher” was filipino and knew him- he was one of the first to play 60’ cue. I was also. Cuz of him. 2 years before l met him.
I would love to play him, I was good 50 years ago, and I'm 77 now. I am from England where they play "English Pool "with smaller balls smaller pockets, not the same at all I won many trophies about 80 plus. I came to Thailand 18 years ago ( aged 59) I started playing as we said in the UK American pool with big balls that thundered down the table. It took a while to get used to it but I learnt in Bangkok and became good again at this new game, big balls and big pockets. I live in North East Thailand now, I travel around and have a game of pool most places win 70% of the games I play. But it has always been a hobby, but I would love to play him, Efren is the greatest player I have seen, there are other good players with big mouths, Efren shouts on the table and smiles off it. Nice bloke off the table.
Mosconi was a legend as well. There's a prestigious Mosconi Cup in the world of pool. It's about time there's should be a Reyes Cup before the living legend is taken out off this world.
Thanks so much for presenting this wonderful opportunity of interviewing the greatest pool player and one of the most humble athletes in the world! It's very inspiring, interesting and delightful indeed! Efren 'Bata' Reyes is an absolute model of humility, kindness, determination, hard work and dedication! God bless you and your whole family forever, living legend!

Thank you so very much for this wonderful interview. I enjoyed it immensely. I loved the line, " I worry more about my colleagues, than my opponent". Well said. Thank you Efren.
I absolutely enjoyed this interview, humble and a great man Efren Reyes, he is very inspiring human being. ❤Big credit to the interviewer too well presented .
Stricklan must be pissed not being named by Effen as one of the toughest opponents. Efren kept repeating others used their brain. Strickland let his emotions speak at times. But both legends-
Yung sinasabi ni efren na magaling sya kung sa iba mo maririnig sasabihin mong mayabang pero sa kanya no doubt at wala kang kayabangan na maririnig kasi totoo naman❤
Mr.Lerner thank you so much for sharing this interview. I've always wandered how come Efren as highly recognized athlete doesn't have an interpreter even in the tournaments I supposed the cost for an interpreter exceeds the demands of public relations. Mr.Reyes's characteristics and his pool skills makes him very popular.
living legend! thanks for internet that we can witness this man's talent. Because his prime was in the 70s, that's why no one got any informations about him. They only know the rumor circul around that there's a legendary pool player who never lose ,travel around the world seeking for worthy opponent. Imagine how cool is it.
Philippine pride just like manny pacquiao... super gifted and remain humble even after his flooding achievements! Salute you sir ,you are the definition of a true champion.
Efren is better than pacquiao at their own sport. If billiards were still famous on the internet era, Efren could get a lot of money, exposure and acknowledgment.
Philippines pride. He is the GOAT ,he is the Living Legend, master and magician, idolized by many ,not just by Filipinos but around the world with humble attitude ,and just wanted to live a simple life despite of his earnings from playing ,and endorsements .Its nice to watch our Manong Efren (Efren Bata Reyes) as all of us called, thanks to Ted of CPBA ,to dig and research more about Manong Efren's in his childhood and other untold side stories ,and back stories that were never known by many of us. CPBA thank you for giving our best product of the sports a tribute video for our Living Legend, Efren "Bata" Reyes the Greatest of All Times in most disciplines billiard/ pool by @jrpatatas
Mr. Reyes: No one who ever lived was to anyone else what you were to the world of pool, furthering it’s knowledge, upping its ante, and inspiring the generations to come, who unsurprisingly, still face the imminence of instant humility in your presence. Thank you for the lessons, thank you for the exhibition, and thank you for reminding us all that it is always time to better ourselves.
Ph is on the edge of sports like Ms universe, Boxing, Filipino Martial Arts anis / kali, tactical markmanship shooting competition, high level of singing competion, sepaktakraw, Billiards and the likes thank you for the interview
His dedication with pool is so admirable. Learned different disciplines just to play with other players since nobody wanted to play against him. My role model. Bata inspires me to keep learning unceasingly until I become a better version of myself.
damn, he even knows hes on another level of skills and game.. he's basically saying " I wont get nervous coz I'm on another level.", Not even a competition". He even doesnt have vacations or anything, just the game being played all the time.
Great interview. Efren shared a lot of great information. Efren has amazing cueball control. I would love to meet him at some point in the future. Thanks Efren and CPBA.
Efren reyes the best all around pool player of all time I wish like mosconi cup they have an Efren cup to honor him. Always love to watch his interviews from the USA I just wish he speaks good English haha.
I am glad that I watched this show. I came to know more of Efren aside from just watching his games. He has a very good attitude, and humble. He is really the best pool player.
I pray netflix will make a documentary, he's a legend❤
Yeah, I really hope so too. Truly deserving.
I second to that
No, NETFLIX is so dumb to spot a real story. 😂
Joe Rogan would promote it to death for sure
totally agree I hope Joe Rogan sees this comment hehe. and promote it for netflix to take it

Efren’s memory will live on in all the pool players that learned from his skills…countless players!
Great idea, reyes is GOAT
Also Billiards Academy School Club in honour of the legend
Hope somebody will start it up in Honor of The Goat, as long as his with us.

Humble, Modesty and Greatness = Eferen Reyes
The best player in the World, humble & kind. Hall of Famer. The magician, so proud to be a Filipino. Mabuhay.❤🎉😊
Of all his interviews this is probably the best. Filipinos didn’t even realize he learned the basics from the famous comedy actor “Chiquito”(RIP)
seryoso?
Oo nga eh
Magaling pala sa bilyar si RIP chiquito idol ko yan mga pelikula nya napapanood lo nung 70' 80's.
Netflix Docuseries, PH National Artist and Efren Cup! Leggo!!! 🎱🎱🎱
Only now that I know Efren learned some shots from Chiquito (a popular comedy actor here in the Philippines). Great Interview!
