How Darth Vader Was Visited By Padme's Ghost - Star Wars Explained

- In the legends Darth Vader and The Lost Command comic series, we see the final issue with Vader's rainbow of emotions when him and his Clone Troopers (501st) are betrayed and captured. Vader is then tied up and visited by visions of Padme. Whom he truly believes is Padme, he is confused and fooled by Lady Sharo.
This is by far one of my favourite Vader issues and comics - I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did making this video.

i have them all dark times, purge lost mission, 9nth assasin, ghost prison etc, they where top notch reading fun, miss dark horse :/ my only comic featuring vader i didnt like was Vaders Quest it really was rubbish but if you collected all 4 issues, wen placed next to eachother made a great poster

I think his eyes turned blue again because he saw the love of his life and believed he was actually seeing her. He also felt sorry for what he supposedly thought he did.

I believe in that scene when Anakin's eyes turn that shade of blue, it is the compassion and light coming out of Vader that won't be seen again until Luke comes into his life.
"There's good in him..." It's not a coincidence that both Padmé and Luke believe this. Their presence brings back the light in Anakin and I think it's beautiful.

Considering that there were about 150 special orders the Clone Army could be given by Palpatine, I don't doubt that there would be an order that would force the clones to arrest or 'take care of' defiant Senators and other representatives.

This I feel was the moment that Anakin put his plan to overthrow the Empire into action....if you really think about it in ESB Vader suggested to turn Luke instead of killing him to save his life...most likely securing Luke and Leia's safety

Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life... He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying.
The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural.
He became so powerful... the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. It's ironic he could save others from death, but not himself

But he kind of did kill Padme... He strangled her so that they had to do a c-section on her to save the babies. The result was that it killed her because of the distress of the strangling, emotional trauma and the birth upon all that.

With how wonderfully written that issue was, and the way that panel was so focused on his eye in particular, I they absolutely made his eye blue on purpose :)

I've always felt that everyone underestimated Padme, and that if she had lived, she probably could've brought him back to the light, so long as he was willing to discuss what he was doing and didn't just expect her to join him. That if she survived childbirth (which she would've if Sidious wasn't literally sucking the living force from her) that he would've been willing to listen. Because she really WAS the only truly steady part of his life after his mother died, and because Sidious-being the butt-face he is-literally murdered her to keep Anakin under his thumb, that Anakin was the most tragic character of the entire series, and that Padme X Anakin is the most tragic, and at the same time, most beautiful love story ever. Okay. Rant over.

The Dark side feeds off of negative emotions, which in turn creates an emotional feedback loop that powers the Sith. Mace Windu's lightsaber style also used dark side energy. Mace was careful to use emotions like justifiable rage at injustice, to keep himself anchored on the light side. The force is just the force. It is the user's intent that makes it light or dark. See Bendu. aka THE Bendu. So yes, Anakin's guilt brought him back, for just a moment, however it in turn triggered his murderous rage that he uses to power himself in the dark side of the force.
I remember reading this comic, and it completely changed my way of looking at Vaders character. Amazing storytelling.

The blue eye means there was still good in Vader-Anakin, just as Obi-wan using a forbidden technique against Anakin, severing three limbs and leaving him to die horribly, shows that there was darkness in Obi-wan, blue eyes or not. What Obi-wan did was grounds for immediate expulsion from the Jedi Order. But the Jedi were too far down the dark path to see themselves honestly.

It was real. However deep he kept his real self locked and drowned inside, in that moment before padme's ghost his real self emerged, if only for a few moments...the next and final time Vader faded and Annakin emerged was because of his son luke. Goddam....his love must have been something else for it to still be there after all the things he did and all the things that happened to him.

One of my favorite comics, and I'm go glad they decided to explore the Padme thread further. In short--I do think he had contact with the light (and thus blue eyes) when he had contact with Padme. She was his touchstone with the light, and later, so was Luke. When he lost her, I believe he went insane and used his immersion in the dark side to justify how life was so much "better" this way (because face it; if we suffered a catastrophic loss our only hope for survival is to justify somehow how we are much better off/evolved/what have you).I think if Padme had survived in any capacity there would be a good chance he could be rehabilitated, although I'm sure there would be significant push and pull between them until they reached that point.I'm also not entirely convinced this was a "hallucination" by Lady S.....it just seems to be too significant not to be indicative of a Force visit by Padme, somehow.
I have a very interesting question: Who is the "best" species in the Star Wars Universe?
If I had to guess I would pick the humans. And that makes sense as they were very adaptable and intelligent. Also the biggest proportion of strong Jedi and Sith were human: Ulic Qel-Droma, Exar Kun, Revan, Nomi Sunrider, Corran Horn, Mace Windu or Anakin Skywalker to name a few (and I've only included one member of the Skywalker family). In additon the Storm Troopers were humans mostly. The Clones don't really count as it could have been another species if Jango didn't kill Komari Vosa (

I think the blue eye was intentional as a symbol in that moment he was Anakin again and that love and compassion can pull anyone from the deepest depths of the dark side, something that doesn't happen again till he see's his son tortured at the hands of his master.
"Love conquers all" is a cliché trope, but it is so for a reason, it works, and for a lot of us who live within our own pains, our own miseries, our own dark sides, the thing that keeps us strong, keeps us going is love.
Not sure if anyone will see this but, do you think after anakin became a ghost do you think he and padme met up an lived hapily ever after or something else? Mostly im curious if it was possible if they could meet again
I love to think that it's the case... In those movies, when people are dying they are returning to the Force. So it's mean that their consciousness or soul or whatever still lives in a way. I think they were reunited. :)

This is 2 years old, so I'm a bit late to the game. But unless padme somehow was able to become a force user, no. Becoming a force ghost isn't just like dying and being a ghost as long as you were good.
You have to literally let go of EVERYTHING, and be part of the light side of the force. It's a hard process. Qui gon jin was the first force ghost, and even he wasn't a full force ghost for a while, and could only communicate sometimes, and even then it was only through words and was never physically present. That was only because he naturally hadn't been attached to things like the rest of the Jedi.
The only reason Anakin because a ghost is because obi wan was able to teach him how in the few seconds he had left. Even for Yoda it was a long and difficult task to learn how.
