the real sad truth is palpatine was a great manipulator. i don't buy that he ever wanted to save padme. anakin was in such a bad state that what palpatine was telling him seemed believable. imho anakin went overboard when he killed the young lings.
Prequel haters always complain that Anakin didn't resemble Darth Vader at all, and that they are like two separate characters. I'm sure if you lose your friends, suffer all of these injuries and discomfort, and told that you killed your wife and unborn child, you wouldn't be the same person either.
Same. I could never understand how that was the same anakin in that suit when I was younger. Now I know that's what the creators were going for to give you the idea that anakin is no more and that this is someone else
Tim Murphy Hayden played a great anakin. Do people know most sociopaths are very quiet and emotionless. Not everyone who screams and is eccentric are the ones who cause mass murders
Beast Uzumaki Yes! Another thing prequel haters seem to miss is Jedi were trained to not show emotion. How dare these Jedi, who were trained from childhood to not show emotion...not show emotion. Anakin was a Jedi who began his training much later than most padawans. I thought it was a great portrayal of someone who has been trained to hide his emotions, but just couldn't.
Darth Vader is one of the most in depth villians ever created. A viilian going through depression and regret is quite rare, and this makes his redemption more rewarding
The redemption arc doesn't do justice to the massive atrocities that he committed, throughout his life. The only "good" deed he did at the end was triggered by his fatherhood. Not really a virtue.
@@anujmchitale The whole premise of the original trilogy was the son trying to persuade his father to redeem himself. Are being a good father and being a good son not virtues?
@@staticsnow22 No they aren't virtues in the context of the entire Starwars story. The original trilogy was about a small fish( the rebels) challenging and bringing down the Goliath. The father- son arc was but one part of the whole thing.
@@anujmchitale Realistically Luke is the main protagonist and Darth Vader is the main antagonist of the original trilogy (the Emperor is barely mentioned or shown throughout the trilogy until the very end of ROTJ) I’d say the father-son arc was probably the most important part of the plot.
@@staticsnow22 Depends on the outlook. Even if I assume this to be the main arc, in my thought, there is no redemption for Darth Vader. He was an evil guy who brought havoc throughout his life.
As a huge Vader fan and a real life amputee, I can tell you that an ill fitting prosthesis is very painful and can make me very angry and miserable. I feel you Darth, I feel you. My aunt worked in a burn unit. Much of this reminds me of the stories she would tell. Burns are a horrible thing to recover from. When it came time to scrub the dead skin away, they would load the patients up with morphine, but to little effect. Many burn victims become addicted to pain killers through no fault of their own. I would not wish burns on my worst enemy.
That sounds horrible. I’m sorry that her patients had to deal with that. I can’t imagine how much pain Vader felt from his burns, if the burns your aunt’s patients experienced were already pretty bad.
@@speedracer2008Yes, his burns were absolutely horrific, pretty much everybody experiences pain differently but being burned is quite the constant in that it’s described by nearly everyone as being a 10/10 on the pain factor, just about nothing else hurts as much as being set on fire, it’s horrific. Plus, he was lying on that volcanic embankment for multiple hours, at least 2 or 3 hours, Palpatine was no where near Mustafar when he sensed Vader was in danger and needed help, so his chest became massively scarred from lying face down. And perhaps most disturbing of all, lying like that on rock that hot actually gave him 4th degree burns, which is the absolute worst it can get, the burns penetrate so deep they burn muscle and organ tissue, destroying that tissue or at least destroying enough of it that it often means the entire organ needs to be removed. 3rd degree burns don’t hurt because they destroy the nerves and sometimes even the entire nerve fibres, but 4th degree burns would be excruciating, muscle and organ tissue is directly connected to and absolutely filled with nerve endings, hence why working out and destroying your muscle tissue lifting weight is painful. Vader was cooked alive for hours, and if Palpatine never turned up, eventually he’d just have been burnt and cooked entirely, not a single part of his body would function, so if he’d somehow survive that, and survive the brutal surgery, he’d be just like General Grievous was, 95 - 98% cyborg.
Yeah, at that point, you really can't blame them if they get addicted to pain numbing opiates. That's just too much pain for any human being to deal with for every second of every minute of every day!
Why do people say that?, if it was your worst enemy why wouldn’t u wish that?, are people just afraid of the wrath of “god”? Idk But it always shocks me when people say that.
I had a burn on my chest when I was like 7. I don't remember if it was 2nd or 1st degree. But every time we had to clear the wound it was HELL. Can't even imagine this kind of injury.
irllcd13 yeah if I remember correctly palpatine specifically made his suit like that, 1) it increased his hatred and dark side powers, 2) it limited Vader Incase palpatine needed to kill vader
I do empathize with Vader/Anakin. He is nothing but a mislead and emotional child of slavery. The Jedi failed him where the Sith did not. This lead to him being easily corrupted. Every Jedi on the council knew of his ever-growing fears, and his easily turned on anger and hatred. Due to his slavery he was prone to these negative/darkside emotions vs the Jedi's pretty much 0 emotion. Anakin had visions of his mother calling out to him help, but the Jedi did nothing. Obi-Wan saying it is nothing more than a nightmare of a boy who is missing his mother. After the last dream Anakin could no longer take it, and went to check on his mother, to his horror, was tortured and then died from the wounds. Obi-Wan failed Anakin, and therein the seeds of doubt towards the Jedi was planted. His hate for Obi-Wan, I would say, started at this moment not the others. Despite never having been acknowledged. But we know this to be true since his next vision of Padme dying he reacted to immediately and eventually succumbed to the darkside. He never wanted to lose anyone ever again and sought out any means to prevent this from happening anymore. The Jedi also don't care about the lives of anyone. Whenever a Jedi, or a person is in trouble they end up leaving them behind to suffer death if it means their goals are accomplished. Every time they could have taught Anakin to be a better person, every time they could have turned the tides of his battle with the darkside they kept on failing him. Yoda telling him not to fear, nor to miss those he loves who has died probably tortured him mentally. He can't do that. The Jedi neglected him and decided NOT to take the necessary steps to prevent him from succumbing to his hatred, to his fear and to his anger. All the things Palpatine managed manipulate. Anakin Skywalker was tossed aside to the wayside by the Jedi immediately after being found and given promises of a better life, despite how challenging it will be. He wasn't given the proper care or love to grow into a more stable adult. The Jedi should have never let their doubts of Anakin get in the way of raising and training the boy. He is the result of a neglectful Jedi council.
You are missing a big piece of the puzzle....a true hero makes the most of nothing. The Jedi teachers did fail him BUT he could have still made the right choices if he was stronger character. He was just a weak person inside and very easy to manipulate. But he still better than if he would have been left a slave boy in a worthless planet.
@@cookiemon87 How do you know? He had the highest midi-chlorian levels ever seen. If he hadn't been found by the Jedi and had continued to be raised by a loving mother and continued to have his love of tech repair nurtured by his master, albeit unintentionally, there's no limit to how far he could progress. Look what he had done already at such a young age. He was clearly incredibly intelligent and would have undoubtedly escaped slavery sooner than later, probably just by bargaining with his master to the benefit of both. Or follow the storyline, he would have gone with his mother when she married, etc., etc., etc..
@@borountree4539 nope, Palpatine would have found him as a kid, killed his mother through treachery and trained the sith since a child and created an unstoppable Force and taken over the Galaxy permanently as there wouldn't have been a Luke to bring him to the light side
I think Vader, after the prequels and the following novels, becomes a character you are supposed to fear but also pity. His depression, anger, sorrow, and possibly regret are all things we all feel throughout our lives and he has become the embodiment of all of those things. The only relief brought to him by his son, Luke, when Luke showed him that he did not need to live like this anymore. A part of Padme lived on within Luke and so did Obi-Wan's teachings but also so did a part of Anakin. Anakin was still alive and Vader was then finally defeated and Anakin allowed himself to finally rest. To die.
That’s what makes Vader such a compelling villain. He made a lot of people suffer, but his own suffering (both externally and internally) certainly wasn’t anything to sniff at.
Oh man, that’s extremely disturbing. I never thought about all of his wounds with that much depth. This is easily the greatest tragedy ever made in a story/franchise.
@@Shinx990 Well he could, he basicly had a infinite supply of credits. Yet he didn't cause the hate and anger the suit gave him amplified his power a ton

I know he has done horrible, horrible, horrible things, but I can’t help but feel so very sorry for Anakin. In his quest to protect what was most precious to him, he lost everything. The love of his life, his best friend/brother, his honor as a Jedi Knight, his body and his children. Trapped in a HELL of his own making I know, if he had a chance to go back and try again, he would make a different decision. I just can’t help but pity him.
I don’t feel sorry for him. He was blinded by arrogance and is a mass murder even before he lost to Obi Wan on Mustafar. He deserved everything that he had endured because he betrayed not only his wife, but his former master (who’s more like a brother) and all the Jedi in the galaxy
I can empathize with Vader in respects to how he felt depressed, and at times angry, with his body's limitations. I am a retired Marine and a disabled Veteran. I broke my back on active duty and was forced to retire after 20 years. I would have done 30 if I could have. While I am not paralyzed, I can walk and obviously by typing I can use my hands, my mobility is greatly limited. One of my favorite past times is woodworking. But, I can only do it occasionally. Cutting the grass on my small lawn is a three day affair. One day to cut it and two more barely able to move from the pain throughout my body. I am on enough high strength opioids to put the average person to sleep for a full day. And I take them 3 times a day. I understand his depression at not being able to do the things he once could, or at least the difficulties that these activities now present. I also understand his anger. The frustration at not being able to do the things I love most leads me to be angry at the very things I love most quite often. My situation has even eroded a marriage of 34 years to the point of simply living with someone who used to be my best friend. So, in summation, I think that I and others like myself who have been brought low by the ravages of war, understand Darth Vader and Anakin Skywalker very well.
Bill Weaver Although in person we probably would never have much in common and probably quite a bit of disagreement on life as I’m a gay man, very passive and gentle in nature. I still feel a profound respect for you for protecting MY freedom to be who I am. I’m not being tortured, being thrown off buildings, being put to death for just being. And in no way was that attributed to politicians or so called advocates for this agenda or that. It wholly fell on men (and women) like you. Even more amazing if otherwise you’d find my life disagreeable to your sentiments. Regardless, you protected me and gave me the chance to exist in relative peace and safety. For all the suffering you are enduring, I hope that that small truth helps you endure and rise above your pains. YOU protected my freedom and my safety and countless others who would otherwise be victimized, tortured and murdered, because of our differences, by wicked people. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for making those sacrifices to protect me. 🙏
Thank you for your service. I’m 28, but when I was 11 I had a bad fall, broke my tailbone and “shocked my spine,” and within a year I was diagnosed with a chronic pain condition. Within three years I was housebound. For about two years I was mostly bed-bound. Once I started improving, I was often in so much pain I would physically shake. I couldn’t sit, I’d pace until I was exhausted because I couldn’t sit or rest in that much pain. I’d have migraines that could last over a week, in my room with blacked out windows, listening to audiobooks on the lowest level possible, eating meals in the dark. At least getting thirty injections in my face, head and neck, every four months keeps those from being my normal experience now. Last year I started fighting back again. I got a treadmill and was so embarrassed. I couldn’t walk five minutes at 1mph without needing a break. My back would seize up and it was hard to breathe because the chest wall muscles would clamp down; it was physically difficult to be able to breathe like that. I wouldn’t drive, because I’d have maybe thirty seconds of warning before an attack like that could happen, and I couldn’t keep my eyes open, much less drive in that kind of pain. I’m slowly starting to be able to add time; I can do 25 minutes a day if it’s in five mini-walks, and I’m at 2.2mph now. It’s going to take forever and be embarrassing and frustrating, but eventually I’ll find a way to claw my way out of the pit that is currently my physical life. I will never be younger and I’ll never have more of a chance than now. Of course now I’m also dealing with Lupus, which is a complication. My body can randomly decide to attack various organs and systems. If I do even the slightest thing to stress or injure myself, it’s weeks before the runaway inflammation calms down enough for me to attempt to continue. I think... because it’s not “normal,” chronic pain is seen as weird and “other” by a lot of people. It’s assumed you actually aren’t in as much pain, but you just don’t cope as well as normal people. Or that you’re a drug seeker. Or that you want attention and sympathy. I don’t wish ill on anyone, and I’d certainly never want them to live with chronic pain. But I do wish there was a way they could walk in the shoes of someone who has to fight, every day, just to retain some mobility and independence. Who has to be looked at like they’re addicts when all they want is to just be able to keep their pain at a level that they can hold down a job or be able to cross a room or to sleep at night, instead of waking any time they move, pain hitting them before they open their eyes. I wish... empathy was more of a thing. Because as sad as Anakin’s story is, there are people in horrific pain every day without proper treatment, no hope of a cure, knowing they’ll live in this much pain for however long it takes for life to kill them. And these are real people, who didn’t betray an order or kill Younglings or try to take over the universe. One does not have to look to a galaxy far, far, away to find stories of horrific suffering. If people with chronic pain had our own country we’d be the single most populated one in the WORLD. We’re not a few random maladapted people. I hope you have some people in your life that understand your chronic pain and situation. Chronic pain sucks, and it sucks more if you have to go through it alone. If you don’t have anyone, maybe ponder looking at some resources to get in touch with other people who get it, that you don’t feel like you have to ignore your reality or explain it. We’re a nation of people; we’ve got to look out for each other. And again, thank you for serving.

Imagine the sheer hatred one must experience continuously to be able to live like this. And yet still manage to overpower almost every living creature he encounters.
Vader suffered his whole life, he hated being a slave, hated his inability to save his mother, hated the Jedi for denying his chance to save her, hated Obiwan for holding him back , hated the council for denying him knowledge, the loss of Padme tortured him, all the while being manipulated by Palatine to finally snap ... do I feel sorry for Vader? Yes of course I do, his whole life is tragic.
A lot of the things he hated the Jedi for was because of his own selfishness and impatience. So he was powerful and gifted. So what? That means they should hand him everything on a silver platter. He wanted it all now now now Instead of earning it like everyone else.
Vader/Anakin is the tragic hero of the Star Wars saga. But, we should not forget that in spite his crippled life as Vader, he also enjoyed the power of the Dark Side and ruling the galaxy. He's no saint and that's why he's the best character in Star Wars and one of the best in cinema history.
You make it seem like he enjoyed that power. He didn't give jack about his power, the only things he cared about were his wife and his mother and they were dead. The only thing left was hate. He suffered crippling depression his whole life as Vader, only feeling happiness at the end thanks to his son.
Mario Paul I think Anakin depression started long before his Vader days. It started at the death of his mother. He was always taught to suppress his emotions instead of acknowledge them so they he can deal with it in a healthy way.
It really makes one wonder just how powerful he would've become at his full potential as the most powerful force user in galactic history had he not been so limited because of his many injuries and the cumbersome, bulky suit. Obviously, stronger than either Yoda or Palpatine (Palps even stated as such in Revenge of the Sith to Yoda) but to what extent beyond that, exactly? With Vader's power showcased in recent times like Jedi: Fallen Order, Kenobi series, Rogue One, and the comics from 2015 onward despite said limitations, all I know is full potential, injurie-free, suitless Vader would've been an absolute nightmare of the highest caliber to face.
If I were him, I'd have stuck a lightsaber through my skull the moment I heard Padmé was dead. It surprised me that's not what he did, considering she was all he lived for and killed for.

Killing his wife, the younglings, his betrayal of they Jedi, that’s a lot of emotional pain on top of being made into a cyborg, forced to wear a deliberately poorly designed suit just to live and then being too angry with himself for all the things he did deliberately making himself suffer so much and not take the easy way out as a form of self punishment. That one hell of a deep and complicated character. And to have all this and still have that one tiny ember of good still in him suddenly burst into a star when he had not only a son and daughter and saw his son being electrocuted to death at the hands of the man who manipulated him into all the deeds he had done.
that was the point of the ill formed suit and limbs....to keep vader from doing exactly that. after a few years trekking down the darkside….he would have been a serious rival for palpatine….why not handicap your enemy before he manifests himself as one?
The thing I HATE about Anakin is the emotional abuse he put Padme through even if she was able to escape from him I'm pretty sure Anakin will kill her next boyfriend with ease and Palpatine will back him.
imagine how strong he would be without all these limitations. Yet even with them, he inflicts so much fear and power onto others. So crazy and tragic! :((
Darth Vader pre-suit was millions times stronger than post-suit Vader. Even if Darth Vader gained more knowledge of the dark side after he was put into the suit, the suit held him back so much that he was nearly unable to overpower the Emperor, which was his plan all along. @@AbInDieKaribik it literally makes sense In every way…Siths have to kill their master for ascension and palpatine was greedy and knew this cardinal rule. So you get your most force sensitive apprentice who can potentially out power you, and you hinder his abilities
One theory I have about Vader's armor. When Anakin was first put into the armor it was probably up to date technology, but over the 30+ years he was inside the armor it was never updated. So over the years Vader aged but the armor stayed the same. So I don't think it had anything to do with power, just the simple reason of Palpatine not upgrading the suit (nomatter if it had anything to do with power or being controlled). Not being upgraded and the fact he possibly still had love for his wife, Padme and seeing his kids after all this time could be another reason that he turned away from the dark side of the force.

In response to Cookie mon, that is exactly what I was going to say. It was Anakin's to cling onto that fear and hatred, it was Anakin's choice to follow Palpatine. It was Anakin's choice to murder those younglings. It was Anakin's chioce to murder Windu in cold blood. It was Anakin's choice not to come to his senses on Mustafar and return to Obi-Wan Luke was put in a similar situation (though not a slave, he had a pretty miserable couple of years). It was Luke's choice to die rather than join his father (though he didn't die, that's what he had intended). It was Luke's choice to not to strike down Sidious and be possessed. It was Luke's choice not to join the Dark Side, but fight it with every last breath in him. It was Luke's choice not to go down the path of the Dark Side when his Aunt and Uncle were murdered by stormtroopers. It was Luke's choice not to give into the lure of the dark side on Auch-To (yes, I know I spelled that wrong, but I don't feel like googling it rn). It was Luke's choice not to strike down his nephew while he slept (in that scenario is was Ben who made the choice to turn to the Dark Side, not confront his master about what had happened that night). Anakin's and Luke's choices was what differentiated them, and why I don't sympathize with Vader in all his suffering. (though I love the suit design, super slick)

Who would want to live after finding out YOU killed your wife and unborn child. And You destroyed the galaxy all for nothing. And you're not even a human anymore.
I fully respect your understanding of Anakin. You are bringing to life the real tragedy. It was always there, in the books or hidden in the subtleties of the movies but your videos deserve lot of respect. You are allowing everyone to see and clearly understand the horrors Skywalker went through!!
I definitely feel sympathy for Vader. I mean even though he committed those terrible acts and became more machine than man, the scene is rogue one shows us that he is still a mortal being. And this video only helps bring to light the depression that Vader went through and knowing what we know Vader only turned to the Darkside to save those he loves. Can you really blame someone trying to save their loved ones. I definitely sympathise with Vader I cannot image what it would be like to be within that prison of a suit and the prison that is his own mind.
I completely agree. That is why I sympathise with him. All the manipulation pushed him into thinking it was his own thoughts. (Palpatine's Manipulation and others as you have stated)
Memestro I agree with both of you guys. I think what's more sad is he was very insecure that he never knew how to come out to people. Hell not even to Padme. Does make ya wonder had he was able to come out more so with his fears and insecurities, maybe he would of not turned and been easily manipulated
In saying that if the Jedi code didn't have as much restriction as it did then, then I feel everything would have been different for me. Oh and if they Council had rescued his mother then all of the horrific events that eventually lead to the end of the Jedi might never have happened.
@@mandolen3317 Have you even read the novels and comics surrounding Darth Vader? It makes this comment of yours seem pointless. We are talking about Vader’s suffering not what he has done.
He also felt more like Anakin when he piloted his tie fighter...he often turned off the gravity system so he would be weightless and escape the confines of his momentarily...escape from the clumsiness and awkward movements of his suit...
This just makes the dark side so much more badass, he was hindered in so many ways but became one of the best sith lords through the power of the dark side
Of course I can empathize with Vader. He paid a great price for his short comings and faults. He was never rewarded by Palpatine, so he was essemtially sentenced to life with no parole for his crimes.
I empathize with vader, he's one of my favorite characters in star wars. From sweet smart impoverished boy,to caring friend and husband..coming up only to be plagued by his past and manipulated for what he can do to the point he loses everything. Not only loses everything but is turned into a nightmarish existence. I understand that fully and honestly the collective writings and film making that have gone into telling predominantly his story is brilliant and epic. Anyone that ONLY sees him as a bad guy hasnt ben paying attention,or hasnt ever had to go through such a level of hell in life that they understand. @@SuperSaiyanD48 Yes he did bad stuff but did you know that he was being controlled pay attention because he and his mother were slaves and if you also didn't know that he did not kill his wife and his infant/unborn child it was darkness that made him do it because he was shown the future by sith and he almost changed him into a sith but he still had rage in his soul. And also technicity he did not chose for that kind of life.

No wonder he was always pissed whenever someone bothered him with incompetence. I can imagine his mine screaming for him to return every second outside.
I'm pretty sure that new Disney cannon is that his suit is constantly upgraded and state of the art. The only reason he looks slow in the original trilogy is due to low technology in the 70s and 80s.
One thing that has always dissapointed me, is i feel as if darth vader is not shown in the films to be powerful enough. The way hes looked at and talked of by other characters in the series itself is never really done any justice to how powerful he truly was. I wish they would make a VADER film showing this. I think that would be really awesome
Well, at least in the original trilogy, the people you see kinda bullying Vader never really saw his true power, even if force choking people was intimidating enough for most of them, they never truly experienced the full power of the Force. After all, even if Darth Sidious was the mastermind behind the Death Star, it was thousands of people under employ during the reign of the Galactic Empire that ran day to day operations, and the people who were at the head of their departments became narcissistic, greedy and egotistical. They thought to themselves "This Vader guy is just a pawn of the Emperor, he is way below us, who actually do the real work."
That's what they gave us Rogue One for. I love that ending scene when Vader is just laying the smack down on the rebals. We really get to see WHY he was to be feared.
You know, as a young kid, I really was drawn to Anakin Skywalker. Of course at that time I was too young to really understand the fears and frustrations he had, and I kinda felt his turn to the dark side was too easy. With more experience now in my early 20s, and a better understanding of the Star Wars lore, I sympathize with Anakin even more.
pray/hope you don't suffer a life-altering setback in your mid-twenties and end up hating yourself to the point of depression and loss of identity, because, let me tell you, then you'll REALLY begin to identify with Vader lol
Illuminati Confirmed However dying from ones injuries can be pretty painful, especially if it isnt immediate. Thats why a quick death is better. Obi wan probably didnt think about that at the time however
He didn't have time because he felt Sidious and so he thought that Yoda died in the duel and that he was the last Jedi, he couldn't risk the Order just to finish Anakin off, he probably thought that he isn't going to survive anyway +it isn't Jedi way to finish someone off who is defenseless.
I think it would have been possible for him in less than a minute, he also had time to blame him and all. I also don't think it's the Jedi way to cut limbs off your former student and then let him suffer, because he now can't use a light saber anymore, even if he turned to the dark side. He probably felt extremely bad and wanted to save his idea of being moral by at least not killing him directly.
If he could, he'd probably would have just laid there and allowed the fire to burn him to death. But because the dark side was that strong inside him, the amount of midichlorians within would have kept such an evil mind alive despite his dying body.
I know this is an older one, but ever since I saw New Hope at the Drive In back in the late 70's, I felt a longing for Vader. I was 3 years old but I remember clearly not understanding why I felt bad for a villian. All these years later, I fully empathize with him. Understanding his temptation and why he ended up giving in. Anakin was torn between two worlds. He really didn't know who was truly his ally.
It explains why Vader moves and acts the way he does. Not only does his constant pain make him more rageful, but it also explains why he moves so intimidatingly; he picks up his feet and walks with a great stride because he has to. Incidentally, while in real life Vader's helmet was based on a Samurai mask, I wonder if in-universe, the Emperor had it made in to look like a Sith hood. It flares and hangs over his eyes just like Sidious's hood does, and save for the fact that it's trimmed around his neck to allow for movement, it even looks like a hood shaped specifically for his mask. It would also make sense that Palpy would give his mask the visage of a hood, to replace his ability to wear a proper robe.
Yet all his grand son had to do to avoid losing limbs and nearly burning to death was put a crossguard on his lightsaber and kill his master when he least expected it instead of trying to fight him in a volcano

It's so much more powerful to think of Vader in this way, when you imagine the young, ambitious Anakin in his prime from the clone wars, being forced to live in such a way. As you had quoted; "This is not living." Me personally; I would much sooner choose death of the most gruesome sort than to suffer the fate of Lord Vader.
If Obi wan didn’t cut him down, he wouldn’t have been the chosen one. If he wasn’t cut down, the darkside would have been 100% sinked into the dark side and would’ve never gave into the light side and help his son. He was indeed the chosen one.

the real sad truth is palpatine was a great manipulator. i don't buy that he ever wanted to save padme. anakin was in such a bad state that what palpatine was telling him seemed believable. imho anakin went overboard when he killed the young lings.
True, it would really mess with you mentally
Also i think Anakin was portrayed very well.
"Prequel haters" complain about Anakin being a whiny bitch.

Idk
But it always shocks me when people say that.

@Juicelad smart thinking. I think that that's one of the most logical theories ive ever heard
@Juicelad Funny to think that the reason for his redemption into the light was his love of his family, his son.

Henry Chelune in legends but we know Vader was not like this in canon
I think Vader, after the prequels and the following novels, becomes a character you are supposed to fear but also pity. His depression, anger, sorrow, and possibly regret are all things we all feel throughout our lives and he has become the embodiment of all of those things. The only relief brought to him by his son, Luke, when Luke showed him that he did not need to live like this anymore. A part of Padme lived on within Luke and so did Obi-Wan's teachings but also so did a part of Anakin. Anakin was still alive and Vader was then finally defeated and Anakin allowed himself to finally rest. To die.
Depression all over his LIFE
That’s what makes Vader such a compelling villain. He made a lot of people suffer, but his own suffering (both externally and internally) certainly wasn’t anything to sniff at.
Oh man, that’s extremely disturbing. I never thought about all of his wounds with that much depth. This is easily the greatest tragedy ever made in a story/franchise.

Easy to say for one who has never lived his sort of life.
I'm a Disabled Veteran as well, and I sympathize
I know it's a late reply, but bless you for your service. My dad did 30 and is in a similar situation. You deserve so much better

A lot of the things he hated the Jedi for was because of his own selfishness and impatience. So he was powerful and gifted. So what? That means they should hand him everything on a silver platter. He wanted it all now now now Instead of earning it like everyone else.

Remember the sand!!
Poor Darth Vader... I pity him a lot.. plus he is my fave Star Wars character...
If only George hadn't handicapped Hayden with that horrible dialogue in the prequels
The fact that he was still so powerful despite all of this is so badass

That one hell of a deep and complicated character.

that was the point of the ill formed suit and limbs....to keep vader from doing exactly that. after a few years trekking down the darkside….he would have been a serious rival for palpatine….why not handicap your enemy before he manifests himself as one?

Darth Vader pre-suit was millions times stronger than post-suit Vader. I’m late to this, but the reasoning behind his out dated armor was so that Palpatine was able to always have “some” control over his apprentice since u know, siths always kill their master
But it makes you wonder what his plan was had he not been injured. He even told Yoda that he would become more powerful than either of them.
Thats bullshit. Palpatine didnt know he will get injuries. Its a big lack of logic. Also when they saved him there was no time to plan such things. It just dont make any sense at all
@@AbInDieKaribik it literally makes sense In every way…Siths have to kill their master for ascension and palpatine was greedy and knew this cardinal rule. So you get your most force sensitive apprentice who can potentially out power you, and you hinder his abilities
@@xxSgt_Aryes But Vader made c3po when he was 9. Vader could upgrade it himself and Sidious let him do it as well
One theory I have about Vader's armor.

It was Anakin's choice not to come to his senses on Mustafar and return to Obi-Wan
Luke was put in a similar situation (though not a slave, he had a pretty miserable couple of years).
(though I love the suit design, super slick)

pray/hope you don't suffer a life-altering setback in your mid-twenties and end up hating yourself to the point of depression and loss of identity, because, let me tell you, then you'll REALLY begin to identify with Vader lol
@@KJ-wx2su oh trust me so do I lol
Obi wan was a true sith; instead of killing Vader he left him a life of suffering and complete emptiness
Antaqua R Obi Wan thought he would've died from his injuries. He didn't find out he survived and was transformed until a few years later.
Illuminati Confirmed However dying from ones injuries can be pretty painful, especially if it isnt immediate. Thats why a quick death is better. Obi wan probably didnt think about that at the time however
Obi Wan probably didn't think of that, as at the time he was overcome with sadness and guilt, which is why he couldn't bring himself to kill Vader.
When we think of it more, Anakin suffered more than anyone in star wars. He must have been super tired too!
Shit, some people go crazy after a few days of no sleep. Vader probably went months without sleep.
Dude that's like actually sad
Those brutal cries of pain at the beginning are just…
It hurt a lot
Yeah he had a lot of injuries and discomfort and limitations, but every time he talked he sounded just like James Earl Jones. Fair tradeoff.
Yeah, if Palpatine really wanted Vader to suffer, he'd have picked a voice thing that made him sound like PeeWee Herman.
@@zacmumblethunder7466 Or even worse, like Watto
Ahahahaha!!
Jar jar...just kill me now
Just remember that I had the high ground
Fuck off this was your fault lol
And killed your brother 🔥🔥🔥😭
And in the end, Darth killed you ass anyways.
Fuck you Obiout Kntucky
"Obiout kntucky"
I've always empathised with Vader as he is such compelling Character and such an amazing and terrifying Villian.
Why was a suicide not an option for Darth Vader?
He’s tried a couple times in legends, which some of the other comments have talked about. It didn’t work.
It was, it's just that Vader is a strong individual, I mean he did try but that obviously didn't work
He didn't do it because he hated himself for what he has done and he thought that he deserved that
Suicide is the easy way out. Vader hated himself too much to go away that easy.
Luke would be so heartbroken to know his father suffered this every day. 😢
Guess killing Younglys and hundreds of Jedi caught up with him. Karma sucks
So does gods plan
Yet all his grand son had to do to avoid losing limbs and nearly burning to death was put a crossguard on his lightsaber and kill his master when he least expected it instead of trying to fight him in a volcano
He killed billions.
@@mikeostanock5428 You dont have to be part of Gods ultimate plan to make all things new again and give us new glorified bodies that are perfect like his. Sucks to be you I guess, I am already immortal I have been properly baptized, I know exactly where I am going after my current body dies, but I wont die I will see through my own eyes God Almighty and have joy that you will never experience or could comprehend and it will last forever.
@Derek Powers my friend I am muslim and I do not agree with your criticism of religion I take it as highly offensive to islam
In the end he killed darth sideous so in a way he was the chosen one. The force is also balanced.
@@billymilkstain2784 hehe nop watch the IX episode
@@billymilkstain2784 yeah fuck that trashy fanfic
@@Max1mvsM well, that's kind of Disney fault. They ran out of ideas and make Palpatine alive again and makes Vader sacrifice useless. The only thing good about Disney doing that is it inspired a short cartoon named 'Palpatine Journey'.
@@billymilkstain2784 sometimes I hope prophecy could be more in details.
Now having being enlightened with this new knowledge, I can even more sympathize with him. I mean before this I already knew he was always sad and depressed and in pain from the accident on Mustafar. Thanks for the vid man! It was great!
