The droid totally had it coming. It had been talking way too much. :P
It's all obi wan's fault!
Vader: And I thought C3PO was annoying .. oh well.. (ignites lightsaber)
If Vader was so paranoid and thought that Padme brought Obi-Wan to kill him, then he would easily belived, that Padme and Obi-Wan had an affair too. Good, that this never happened.
The best thing about this comic is that it finally explains why, in Return of the Jedi, Vader's aggressive nature is almost completely gone. This spark, from Padmé's last words, would ignite the light within him. This is the moment when Darth Vader began to die and Anakin began to resurface. And Palpatine knew that, hence the incoming torture and his plans to replace Vader with his son.
Yes now that I think about it he was incredibly soft in ROTJ
Now you've learned the secret, and now know why it's called: RETURN of THE Jedi. It refers to Anakin, not Luke. "RETURN" means to have gone somewhere then come back..Luke did not go anywhere to return, rather Anakin RETURNED. And it's THE Jedi, not A Jedi. THE Jedi was Anakin. The 6 films are about him, and his family.
@@deckard5pegasus673 ROTJ is really a dual meaning. Its about both the redemption of Anakin to the light side and the completion of Luke's training to bring back the Jedi Order from the brink of extinction.
@@josephjones7828 Star wars has been altered too much beyond recognition by too many cooks in the kitchen. originally Luke was NEVER suppose to bring back the Jedi order. They were flawed, and led to the downfall of the Republic(this is what prequels are all about.) Even in the OT Luke is lied to and manipulated by the Jedi(Obiwan and less by Yoda) to kill his father, because Obiwan nor Yoda are strong enough to do it. In fact the whole OT is about training Luke to kill Vader, that is Obiwan/Yoda num 1 objective.
Luke originally was to become a Grey Jedi or even half Sith. Gui Gon was along these lines. In fact Qui Gon wanted nothing to do with the Jedi Order, and was not on the council, because Qui Gon really followed the Force,(and how ONLY he recognized the chosen one). unlike the Jedi.
Deckard 5 Pegasus i like to think luke did bring a new jedi order only he changed loads of stuff. Like teaching the dark side in a controlled environment and trying to raise gray jedi and dealing with sith to just being them back and uhhh, maybe not kidnapping little babies? Keeping the opportunity for parents to maybe bring their force sensitive children if theyre really coming from a rough life to give them a better life like from bad planets and not cutting off contact with the parents so they could actually be involved and having no jedi age limit?
So now its “youre scared for your mom, ani. That’s very understandable. Of corse you would, you’ve had a super traumatic past and your mom, who’s always been there for you is left alone as a slave. Here, we’ll teach you how to get over the pain and teach you safe exercises to gain power over your emotions. And we’ll make sure to return to get her because clearly she’s in a horrible life and it’d be cruel to abandon her on her own. What’d you think we do? Refuse to train you cuz youre scared?lol”
I couldn't help laughing when Vader immediately slashed that droid when it assumed that Obi wan must've been very important to Padme lol

It's really amazing how Vader begins to realize more and more, that it is Palpatine's fault for him loosing everything, and making Anakin think everyone was against him. Even his own wife.
Padme was connected (both figuratively and literally) to the twins who were connected to the Force, so she was connected to the Force. What she felt and said in the her last moments, echoed through the Force such that Leia later saw her (images of Padme being sad), Luke heard her (even though he didn't know it, what she said was imparted on him, "there is still good in him"), and now even Vader/Anakin (lets be honest they are two different personalities occupying the same body) saw the video. I believe Vader could not hear the echo but Anakin could both hear and feel it, once he was "strong" enough to able to look for it. I look at the fall sequence into the "pit of despair" at the end was actually the re-birth of Anakin.
I made this at 66
In order to rise you must fall…
Hm.
When luke said " come with me" it should have cut to padme saying " come away with me". Both wanted Anakin to come with them and both believed there was good in him. Vader should have said to luke " your mother once thought as you do." That makes more sense than mentioning obi wan, since obi wan was devastated and didn't think Anakin could be saved at this point even in return of the jedi. Plus it would have been cool for Vader to talk about Padme to Luke.
Padme wasnt created in the old films.
That's the problem. Padme didn't excist back then. Otherwise i am 100 % sure, that George Lucas would tell the story a little bit different. He didn't explained much about Vader in the OT, that's why he put so much effort in the prequels.
@@danielschoch4881 Only that Luke had a mother, or had to have had a mother at some point and not named in the original. It's a shame as George really should have mentioned his mother anyway, even if he didn't intend to make the prequels and just have others expand on it. It makes it so much more powerful for Vader to have mentioned Luke's mother.
Tanuki Mario With all the changes he made to the OT after its release, he could have easily changed “Obi-Wan” to “your mother”
@@BanesBasement But instead he made Vader say "No...No!" In ROTJ when he was going to throw Palpatine. Which wasn't necessary. Him mentioning Padme to Luke would not only have been more interesting, but it would have fit well continuity wise.
It's too bad that the medical droid didn't show the entire recording of Padme's final moments. If it had, not only would Vader have known that she was carrying twins, but he would've found out that Princess Leia is the "twin sister" that he discovered within Luke's mind in Return of the Jedi.
I thought he knew for a while and was just toying with Luke in ROTJ, making him blame himself for Leia’s discovery to turn him to the dark side
Damn another cliffhanger but you can see Anakin coming back slowly hearing Padma voice for the last time will break the dark side in Lord Vader
1:28 I love how the artist draws Vader's visor lenses in a way they look like pensive, the subtle shadow at the top of the lenses looks like eyelids lowering when a person is sad and moved. Even more powerful, it seems like he says Kenobi's name in a way that, for the first time since their fateful duel on Mustafar, he thought of his former master without any anger or hatred, as if he was moved by Obi-Wan's effort to try and save Padme.
*"He was having delusions of grandeur. Vader can thank the Emperor for that"*

Yes general, and luckily in the end, he emerged from them and became the loving Ani everyone knew him as.

Watch episode 2. After Shmi dies and is buried. on the outside wall of Uncle Owen and Aunt Berus hut, you caan see Anakins Shadow in the shape of Lord Vader. This is after he slaughterd the Tusken Raider village I think. Or just before he takes off. ANYWAY awesome accidental foreshadowing

At this point, Vader's character has reached it's turning point the moment he heard Padme's last words from that holographic message and it will come to fruition in ROTJ.
i know there is... still.. good... in him
A point proven right years later Padmé
You were right about me
STOP THE CAP
And you were right Padme
You were totally right!
Reading this comic, I somehow can imagine how vader feel, the sadness of the loss of his beloved wife and even before death, she still believe in him.
How do you get the comic?
This is the intermediate live action we all need.
Vader’s eyes definitely turned blue in that moment.
it would be interesting to see a series (in whatever format you want) of anakin fighting the dark side of the force inside darth vader, and then in the end hes fighting vader at the same time palpatine is killing luke, he kills vader and takes back the control of his body to save luke and then die.
That would be awesome.
That was really good! Through his years as Vader, there have been only a few instances, where Anakin was given a nudge: coming face to face and fighting Ahsoka was one, learning of Luke and fighting him, the talk he had with Luke on Endor, and this, but this was a very hard shove! A lot of people or even Vader would say having to fight Ahsoka was not enough to stir Anakin, but I don’t believe that. But it wasn’t enough to completely reawaken him. That probably festered deep in his psyche for years without him being consciously aware of it. Vader/Anakin’s psychology fascinates the hell out of me.
Completely agree.
You're breaking my heart!
STOP STOP RIGHT THERE 😭😭😭😭😭😭💔
Ugh, I'm getting so teary eyed that my lash fell off.
At that point in the comic when Vader learns that Obi-wan made his best attempt to save Padme...I know Vader hates Obi-wan, but I wonder if he cared at all about him trying to save her...
The part about *"There's still good in him."* reminded me about a quote from George Lucas that seems appropriate to share, most people never saw this quote before, seems a good time to share it - It's related to Balance in the Force. - It's not a ratio of Dark and Light. People using the Darkside is what causes imbalance and 'Goodness' is what can bring balance back.
As a casual star wars fan I always did think Darth Vader being convinced by Luke Skywalker to join the light side seemed just a bit farfetched... but seeing stories like this really does make more sense, like between the events of empire strikes back and return of the jedi, I always kind of thought (even back when I was a kid and before the prequels) that there must have been a lot of off screen development of Vader's character and and these stories fit very well
My favorite scene in return of the Jedi is the balcony scene, you can tell what Luke was saying to Vader was really getting to him
There is a sith technique where the attack their enemies through the force and with word like count dooku I think because of his love of his father he almost used a light side equivalent during their interactions in ROTJ
Tragic. Just tragic. ☹️
Zed: That name again. He must have been very important to her.
When he said that I thought to myself “Agh sh*t”
Darth Vader was the true victim in Star Wars...because he was truly Anakin wanting to get out
But Anakin was created out of the arrogance of the Jedi, and Vader from the arrogance of the Sith. They're both pricks that used him
“I am being torn apart.” Skywalker’s struggle with adhering to codes.
I really enjoy how you narrate these series. Definitely much different ending and twist from an older plot now considered as legends.
So this is why Vader didn't seem to be as as angry in Return of the Jedi, this adventure he went on was begining to bring Anakin out of Vader again
It seems that Bail and Obi-wan were smart enough to destroy proves of Leia and Luke's birth on Polis Massa
"There is some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for." - Samwise Gamgee, The Two Towers
Vader just needs to grieve, but Palpatine won't let him. It just keeps becoming more and more repressed, lashing out as the dark side.
Palpatine: "You need to start over again... with fear."
Me: "I'm certain the cycle should involve him constantly choosing his path and analysing it repeatedly from the perspective that he is doing so on his own."
I love that these comics make Vader stronger by showing how powerful he really is giving him cooler feats
So all of Padme’s handmaidens including Sabe, as well as Typho, are all dead now.
We didn’t see any of their faces so I wouldn’t hold it off just yet especially for sabe.
I really enjoy the videos that you produce and I want to thank you for making them. I have been watching your videos for a while now and I think you are one of the best things on TH-cam. Cheers!
I am glad he heard it. He needed to hear it.
Even now I still believe Anakin was the chosen one. They just misinterpreted the prophecy...
Well George Lucas said he was so thats that, buuuuut The Mandalorian's, Grogu aka baby Yoda is born the same year and possibly hinted the same way as Anakin. I'm exited to see how that plays out in the near future.
@@dafnesaenz1617 The Mandelorian and Grogu have nothing to do with the Prophecy. Anakin fulfilled when he killed Palpatine. He’s the Chosen One.
He is the chosen one, after order 66 there were no jedi, and then he kills palpatine by throwing him down the reactor shaft then dies himself
No more jedi, no more sith, mad lad did it, he brought balance to the force :)
@@ipiepiepiei9550 Keep in mind, by the time he died, he was once again Anakin Skywalker, Jedi Knight. Anakin killed Darth Vader by his reawakening.
The prophecy is that he would bring balance to the force. He fulfilled it by destroying both the Jedi and the Sith. The light and dark side of the force. They did misinterpret it by thinking he'd just destroy the sith.
This is really deep stuff...I mean, damn
Excellent video mate! 👍🏻👍🏻
From this I expect that Darth Vader thought padme was having an affair with Obi-Wan. That's the impression I got but someone so deep in the force should know that isn't true but when you're as dark and full of hatred as he is I guess the truth gets lost somewhere
you can actually see it in ROTS where Anakin asks Padme "Obi-Wan was here?" It obviously bothered him he had come around to her place. He was jeleous of him around his wife. I had actually read somewhere, (wish I could remember) that at one point he thought of them having an affair, thats why he start hating and doubting him.
In the novelization it shows he did in fact believe they were having an affair.
Yup.
Not to mention ROTS deleted scenes Padme was working with senators for a rebellion type thing, and had to keep it secret, so Anakin could also sense she was nervous and hiding something.
Palpatine definitely led him down the rabbit hole suggesting Amidala couldn't be trusted
Imagine a remaster of ROTJ where Vader stands there just before the emperor kills luke and then the audio of Qui Gon saying (Flashback style)"he is the chosen one" followed by Padme and Luke both saying "come with me" over an over in his head and progressively getting louder and louder as the music cresciendos and fades to a whisper and all you hear is "There's still good in him, I know there is." The score picks up and he yeets emerperor mush mouth into the reactor.
One thing I expected to see while watching this video not only seeing Padme laying in bed seeking her dying words, but to also see his former master Obi-Wan Kenobi holding his newborn son Luke in his arms. I can imagine Vader seething in anger and grief as he himself never got
to hold his son in his own arms just after he was born.
But at that time, He never knew that Princess Leia was his daughter until Return of the Jedi.
Is this the aquatic alien species from the cover of the Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic video game that is now canon?!?!?!?
No KOTOR is not canon but the selkath are canon
They have been since the Clone Wars
Anyone else wondering why Vader told the amidalans to meet him on Polis Massa and they went ahead and attacked him straightaway? I know he "confessed" to killing both Anakin and Padmé, but he was clearly on a quest. They must've wondered why. I expected them to maybe wait till they got more answers...
I never thought this comic would show vader figuring out what happened to padme.
So it was here where Darth Vader died, and Palpatine knew this. He saw that when Vader came back to him, he was not a Sith anymore, he was a griefing Anakin. So he needed to put him back to the dark by torturing him. Unfortunately for him, it won't work as Anakin would resurface completely and kill him
Well, overconfidence is Sidious' greatest weakness
Palpatine couldn't allow for any actual emotional healing and maturation to take place. Nope. But he was too late, because Anakin was back at that point! It just took help from Luke to ignite that little spark into his once roaring fire again :3.

To fully understand Darth Vader you must have truly loved first. Without experiencing a true love you would never know the true pain of Darth Vader no matter how hard you try you are never gonna truly understand the Lord. From that point you would be able to understand how painful it is knowing you can do nothing about it especially considering the circumstances. After all the last true memory he has with her is him chocking her with the force.
Grief is not a dark side trait but one of the light. Palpatine in this moment could sense at least Vader being pulled back to the light and to his former life as Anakin. So that’s why in the next issue, Palpatine really must do a number on him. And Vader’s anger will no doubt be directly solely on Palpatine going forward. Much to Palpatine’s Denise, he will think he killed the last flame of light in him. But it will be his downfall.
I believe that when you see earth Vader saying “ there’s….Still……good” I thinks that’s Annikin

In the end, I truly believe that Anakin didn’t waste an ounce of his potential. Whereas those around him believed that he would be the greatest Jedi or Sith to have ever lived, I believe that the Force gave him that much will, power, and strength in the Force so that he could handle the amount of sheer mental and physical pain that he would have to endure for years to eventually fulfill his destiny as the Chosen One.
Really disappointing that George Lucas didn't include Padme in the originals. Maybe not Padme herself but a mention of her would've been nice especially with these comics out. Too bad her character wasn't created yet.

Without a doubt this was when he started to turn back to the light side, didn’t you do a video series of the comics of how Vader discovered Luke was his son,
Well strictly speaking uncle Owen was Anakin’s step brother and he only met him once, because of that he probably wouldn’t have any knowledge or interest in if Owen had an even bigger extended family. Because of this if Vader had heard he was raising a nephew he could’ve quite easily assumed it was from another of Owens siblings. Also even if there was a mention of Luke it is very unlikely Vader would be interested in his age, but in truth I don’t think any of that really came up. If Vader was present during the execution which I’m not quite sure of I very much doubt Luke’s uncle and aunt would have revealed to storm troopers and a Mysterious dark masked Sith Lord that there was another member of the family currently away, for fear of putting him in danger (if they were even allowed to speak at all, or just shot on site).
Yall gotta think to he only went to the dark side bc Palpatine said "he can teach Anakin how to save Padme"

Hi! In the RotS novelization, as Anakin & Padme stare across Coruscant at one another, they share what we know is a Force bond. Anakin felt her, almost as if she were a Jedi, too. I’m paraphrasing but that was the gist of their unspoken conversation. It was powerful & heartbreaking. 😢
5:16 .... Turns out all they had to do was tell him he had a son and the only reason Obi Wan was with Padme' was to keep her and HIS kids safe. Love and emotional attachment and a great con artist pushed Anakin to the Darkside, love and attachment was the good still in Anakin that Padme' was talking about. She was right, killing the gas lighting con artist to save his son's life brought him back. Anakin only turned to save his wife and baby. But I guess the movie had to happen to sync with the movies that already happened.
