Me too. It's the force user stuff that I find interesting in Star Wars. Take Rogue One, for example. Vader fucking up the rebels at the end was the best part, 2nd best was Vader choking Krennic. All the rest was just crap. Anyways, it seems the Han Solo movie has got some big problems.

This plot is better than the shows. Yes, Obiwan is broken, but he doesn't just give up and pack meat all day, he's gathering intel on his surroundings and helping the people of tatooine. Idk why they didn't adapt this version of the story

Listen I get it, having a show about Obiwan going insane on a sand planet wouldn't make for good TV but the path they chose with the show was straight up disrespectful. For all of his failures Obiwan never once gave up on his Jedi ways, that's what made him so great. Sure there were moments of weakness but he never let it define him. In the show he's turned his back on everything he'd ever know. Also he told Owen, Luke needed to be trained yet here he is burying his lightsaber in the middle of a desert and cutting himself off from the force.
who said he cut himself off from the force? How would he protect Luke if he cut himself off? I mean how would he know if Luke is in danger when he is at work or smt? Why would he talk to Qui-Gon and ask for guidance if he knows he cut himself off from the force? It doesn't make any sense.. it was only implied he did not use the force for a long time for such as lifting heavy things
I agree for the most part except for one two things. It shouldn't have been a show, it SHOULD have been a movie with a high budget to show off the best visuals as possible as I don't understand why the show looked so cheap at times. Especially with such a MASSIVELY popular character like Obi-Wan who should have gotten ALL the best treatment to get the best story conveyed as possible. And Obi-wan NOT trying to "going insane" WOULD have been an amazing plot if it was DONE WELL as it would have been about delving DEEP into his psyche and it could have been a fantastic story like Logan movie or the Joker movie as long concerted ON Obi-wan himself entirely so!
Obi-wan trying to live his life in the desert and secretly try to solve the problems in Tatooine as a secret jedi at the side when he's there would to mainly protect Luke would have been a FANTASTIC plot entirely so when it's executed well if it a movie but the show that we got wasn't that at all.

The book Kenobi is a good read on what he was doing for the first 6 months or so. Great inner dialogue with himself when he was talking to Qui-Gon we see a side of Kenobi that we never seen before which I loved about that character. I know its legends content but I do hope they use it as a some what of a guidebook for the up coming Kenobi movie.
Obi-Wan has to be one of my favorite characters in the entire series. He has a certain calm but calculating presence about him making you feel both safe and protected at the same time.

Recently I had been thinking how utterly tragic it was that all the things Obi-Wan had done for Luke beforehand had absolutely zero recognition. He never got to raise him, never got to interact with him, never got to even meet him personally until Luke was almost grown. Always having to watch from afar. Dedicating his life to the protection and continuation of Luke's peaceful one. In a word, Obi-Wan *SACRIFICED* everything for Luke.
At the very least, Luke learned some of what Obi-Wan had done for him after Ben died. He was more of a father to Luke than his own father ever could have been.

Here's a good theory. What if R2D2 and C3PO never made it to tatooine in a new hope like the escape pod got shot at?
The movie should be about a death trooper squad investigating a possible Jedi descendant on Tattoine. Obi Wan plays a cat and mouse game with them, watching over Luke until the end when they are about to find Luke's home. Obi Wan goes beast mode and takes them all out before they get there, also preventing any communications to the imperial fleet. Therefore Luke never knows, and neither does the Empire. Might need a side plot to fill the whole screen time but I think that would be pretty cool. Or maybe a fight with an inquisotor at some point...

Obi Wan thought that it would be better for him to have a normal Childhood. Younglings of the Old and Galactic Republics were raised to distance themselves from their emotions. This way ended up desensitizing the Jedi to reality and led to their downfall.

If i remember correctly, in the orginal novelization/book version, of "Star Wars" (long before it was called "Epsise IV - A New Hope"), Kenobi tells Luke, upon giving him Anakin's light saber, that he had tried giving it to him, sevwral yrs earlier, but that Uncle Owen wouldn't allow it, as he feared it woultd only lead to. Luke following Kenobi off "on some fool's crusade". One thing is clear: after regaining conciousness, following the attack of the Sandpeople, Luke IMMEDIATELY recognizes Kenobi, so it was not their first time meeting, since delvering the infant Luke to his Aunt & Uncle.

That was definitely what Obi Wan desired, but nothing was changed or ret conned. In episode 4, the force and the Jedi were all new to Luke. That shows that Owen kept that all away from him, which included keeping him away from Kenobi.
I like to think obi-wan picked up knitting, formed an impressive stamp collection, joined the AARP, and checked out homes in space Florida. Now because of Disney this isn't canon

The Organas wanted a daughter. Since they were one of the two most trustworthy couples they were given Leia. Leia was safe there, so no need for a guardian. And any Jedi aside her would've been way too obvious, since the Organas are in the spotlight of the galaxy. There also was noone. Luke on Tatooine needed protection and was secret enough to be trained.

Actually, in the cannon novel Kenobi, which, now that I've finished, I highly recommend, it elaborates on a western-ish story in approximately 18 BBY. Though it's a specific story rather than the broad scope of what he did. But it has great information. It's a Star Wars book, but it's different from the rest. It's more realistic and friendly, written more from a human perspective than a mystical Jedi, Force perspective. And one more thing: It's my favorite Star Wars book.
The novel isn't canon, it's from the EU, it has even the Legends banner on it. You might think Legends suck, but a lot in fact didn't, there were a lot such quality novels in the EU/ Legends.

Yes, that might be, you have the first print that came out in 2013, that was after Disney bought LucasFilm, but before the ydeclared the EU as officially non-canon. It was spring 2014 when they made the announcement.

I don't think Obi-Wan "met" Luke in Star Wars '77. The dialog seemed to indicate that they already knew one another. Luke just wasn't aware of "Ben" being Obi-Wan, or a "friend" of his fathers. He just knew him as an old hermit. Evidence to this is when Luke says "Ben? Ben Kenobi? Boy, am I glad to see you!" (after waking up from a daze), and again when "Ben" said "Tell me young Luke, What brings you out this far?"

Until this Saturday, we know how he fought Maul. I really hope Maul survives, because he is my favorite character and I don't think Kenobi is able to win from Maul in this state. But if Maul needs to be killed, it's okay if Kenobi does it. Or he kills himself, I think that's the best way for Maul to go.. What do you think about this?

Read the Kenobi book, it is a great interpretation of how Ben built his mythos on Tatooine, and how he as also able to help a bit. Favorite line: Villain, the Empire will ruin your life Jedi. Obi Wan's: They already have.
Have you heard of the novel entitled "Kenobi" from the Legends Era? It tells of some things Obi-Wan did after he dropped off Luke & began settling in (like stop a war between Tusken Raiders and a settlement of farmers)

Good question! I think things would have played out the same. Anakin would still have become Vader. He was loosing trust in the Jedi, he resented them, he was starting to hate them even before Revenge of the Sith. The only difference would be there would be no Luke to bring him back to the light so the empire would have ruled for a very very long time until maybe some rouge Jedi like Kanan came along. Or maybe the Rebels would have taking more drastic measures and defeated the empire :P

I loved the "Kenobi" book even though it's legends. No spoilers but it was a great story that told his struggle with trying to stay hidden but wanting to help so badly.
I have a question... Was there a point in Obi-Wan's solitude where he figured out that he had not killed Anakin and that he was now Darth Vader? The reason I ask is because of a few lines from both A New Hope and Return of the Jedi. In A New Hope, when Obi-Wan and Vader meet on the Death Star, Darth Vader tells Obi-Wan "you should not have came back". At first, this made me think he was talking about the Order 66 purge and how Obi-Wan had escaped (he knew he escaped because of almost getting killed on Mustafar by him). But a line from Return of the Jedi makes me think there was more to it. In Return of the Jedi, when Darth Vader is talking to Luke after Luke gave himself up on Endor, Luke asks Darth Vader to let go of his hate. Vader replies with "Obi-Wan once thought as you do". Could this be a reference back to being confronted by Obi-Wan on Mustafar? I don't think so. Obi-Wan had one mission going there, and that was to kill Anakin / Darth Vader as ordered by Yoda in the bowels of the Jedi Temple. I have a theory that Obi-Wan thought for years that he had killed Anakin. Some how he heard rumors and whispers of Darth Vader, connected the dots, and figured out that he had failed his mission. He leaves Luke and his solemn duty to protect him to attempt to complete his failed mission of destroying Anakin / Vader. Somewhere along the line, they meet, battle, and Obi-Wan tries to get him to let go of his hate and end his suffering. This is obviously a failed attempt, so they battle more and each of them realize that neither of them will win. Vader tells Obi-Wan to go back to whatever hole he crawled out of and stay away from things bigger than both of them, to which he agrees and leaves. I could be WAY off here, but maybe not. What do you think?
When Obi-Wan got to Mustafar, he didn't just go straight in with saber in hand. First, Padmé came down and tried to bring Anakin back. After that, Obi-Wan tried talking or rationalizing with him, but since he had Force choked his pregnant wife (which she was the reason he turned in the first place), Obi-Wan then realized Anakin was too far gone. Even then, it's implied that not only does Obi-Wan keep hope that Anakin could be redeemed, but he flat out shouts it when he lost that hope, "Well, then you are lost!" while in the Mustafar duel.
