I love how Darth Vader uses very powerful Red force lighting against Sidious with no cybernetics to hold him back. It gives a glimpse of how he would use force lightning if he could.

If anything, that was the Force telling him that Padme is not coming back. That he made sure of that. Its all his fault she is gone.

Love the fact of how obedient Vader is to sidious yet he’d tear through him without a second thought if it meant he could reach padme,
Vader has PASSIONATELY wanted to kill Sidious ever since he told him Padme died and even a little bit before. Sith are supposed to draw upon their hatred-even of their masters and betray them to find a new apprentice of their own.

Sadly sidious would have killed vader however vader could have taken the new suit sidious made for him at the end that was more powerful but he didn't. He could have asked palpatine to teach him more or gone to a sith planet to learn. Theb he could have overthrown palpatine

I've always felt sorrowful for anakin. Its extremely sad to me that he wasn't ever able to save himself, no matter what he did.
In my Headcanon when the Emperor is torturing Luke with Force Lightning, Darth Vader watches but he hears a familiar sound of a familiar woman . Vader looks away and he sees Padme, Padme tells him that there's still good in him, and calls him by his real name . Vader struggles between choosing his family he once abandoned or his loyalty to Darth Sidious . Then he saves Luke
He’s definitely more human and complex than many other villains.
He allowed himself to be corrupted by the dark side, and that one decision ruined his entire life. He danced with the devil and only an angel could rip him back out.

This was so cool, it's almost like if he had gone through the force vision in a light side way, then perhaps Padme would have recognized him and gone with him, if he behaved as Anakin did. But he just did the same thing, made the same mistakes. He killed the Jedi and let the dark side fuel his thirst for power in killing Palpatine and Padme is struck down with the same dark side energy.

Honestly i find the scene where both palpatine and kenobi say theyre his father so much more meaningfull, the fact that both of them led to his rebirth in fire, by killing sidous it is in a sense predicting his murder and the sealing of the old force users, the old war between the sith and jedi would be over and a new generation would take its place
Exactly. It was his chance to walk a different path, correct his past mistakes. What he did was repeat his past mistakes.
But the point of destroying the vision of Padme wasn’t to make the point that he failed his chance to bring her back; but that she can’t. And if he did, she wouldn’t accept him.
That’s the point of the Luke vision. Showing Anakin his path to redemption, his remaining family; what is left of Padme in the world.
Most stories like these have such bad endings. But I absolutely love how the story ended.

Troll Face it was probably all a vision or maybe it was like Momin said and the dark side wouldn't allow Vader to get what he wanted because of his past. I don't think it was just the dark side because why would it show Luke then?

I feel as if Vader's spiritual body says a lot. His arms and legs are blue, symbolizing the Light, and that a part of him is still good. His torso and head being red and black, symbolizing the Dark and showing that the Dark is in control.
The bright parts of his body are also the limbs that got cut off by Kenobi and burnt by the lava.

Vader's spiritual body has no light in it. The whited out parts are meant to show where his organic body ends and his cybernetics begin. Charles Soule emphasized that it was consistent throughout the series. The fleeting glimmer of light that is Anakin Skywalker is represented by a string of butterflies that occasionally appear inside Vader's mind when he meditates.

@@penthactussoul9455 And you would be wrong. Charles Soule's interview makes it abundantly clear that the white parts are Vader's lack of limbs. They are whited out because cybernetics cannot touch the Force. If you actually read the earlier issues, you would know what small trace of Anakin remains is the butterflies of light, because Anakin's influence is almost non-existent until Luke comes along and that is reinforced by Vader's description on the official site.

Padme chooses to fall, but it's dark side lightning that kills her - so theoretically this confirms, that Padme "lost her will to live", but it was Palpatine who killed her to save Vader from dying

Me too, and I aknowledge the movies didn't always portray anakins personality in a convincing way, but the story itself? Possibly the best ever written.

@Whiterose Petal Tale I like the new trilogy, I think its as imperfect as the prequels in terms of pacing but the visuals were stunning, cool characters and the revival of practical effects was a much needed breath of fresh air.

I like how the body parts he only had as Anakin are still pure. Maybe they should be a bit messed up from some of his later actions as Anakin but he was not yet a monster.

I always think that Padme killed herself in this world because the Dark side refused Vader. As Momin said the Sith nowaday only use the Force, not serve it like he did.
And Momin did regain his body through the gate.
I think the gate is capable of bringing Padme back.
But Vader couldn't because
1. He did not serve the Dark side like Momin did. So the Dark side does not favor him like it did with Momin.
2. His love for Padme is something the Dark side of the Force does not tolerate. His love is the proof that he's not entirely fall to the dark, not completely a Sith, still redeemable.
The part with Luke, it's just his vision for future because he was walking through his life process like a playback tape. So he got a little glimpse of what's coming ahead.
Padme though responded with something different:
"Do you like sand?"
He hung up on the Senate!

I love how through his desperation to keep his wife brings him even lower than he once was how he feels theres NOTHING for him at all nomore, the jedi were dead, his body is in shambles, his minds near destroyed then...'the new hope' shines in the distance and luke is the beacon of light and redemption and saves his father whos in terrible shape of all kinds
“Are you an angel” is the first thing Anakin said to Padme when they met on Tatooine. Nice little touch there
This was really beautiful. I felt the pain, anger, and hopelessness when Anakin was unable to save Padmé. when the Luke appeared, he not only was a sign of things to come, he represented hope for the future, and that things will be okay if you can move on from the past.

1:21 I always loved that image with the young Anakin and his Vader shadow. It was an old promotional image for Episode 1 back in the day. It was really hard to imagine that this little kid would become Darth Vader back then.

Man, makes you really feel bad for Vader. A life full of suffering and pain. From birth he never stood a chance.
If Padme could have actually been brought back to life, I don't doubt that'd of been enough to turn Vader back into Anakin. He always cared about her above all else, the whole reason he joined with Palpatine was that he thought it was the way to save her.
Really shows how strong he would be if he had his real body
Yeah, this was proof of how powerful Vader would have been if he had the potential he was born with+the self discipline and dedication to the dark side he had after mustafar, he wipes out the whole Jedi council and then some, as well as Darth Sidious like it’s nothing. All that power and he still couldn’t revive Padme, however.
I feel like they should make this story into a movie. Just Imagine how many actors you could bring back. Nathalie Portman, Heyden Christensen, Samuel L Jackson, Ewan McGregor etc. and also the story is an interesting, poethic one. I feel like people would dig it.

Lucas Barry If only Qui-Gon Jinn had LIVED! He would've become Anakin's master & prevented him from turning to the dark side for SURE! He would've also been like the FATHER Anakin never had who would've helped him with his personal needs like his mother & supported his feelings for Padme too
As evil as the dark side is shown to be, it really does feel like it’s trying to tell him something important. It shows the path he took, everything that he did that turned him into the evil man he is now. And in the end, it shows him that even if he found Padme, she wouldn’t recognize him since he is no longer the man she loved.

@@thescauldron8436 Check Dash Star video about that. Sidious killed her to save Anakin. When they were in making of scene where Anakin get mask, heartbeats of Padme and Anakin was synchronized because they both died and of their life force, Vader was borned.
@@michaelstark8720 I know that headcanon and I kinda like it, but I think what happened here is different. Its up to intrepretation, but I think Padme's death here is not a poetic callback to her actual death. Its just a vision of the darkside on how far Vader has gone, stripping him to his barest humanity (being transformed to Anakin) and juxtaposing it with all the crimes he had done to pursue such 'human' emotion of love.

Imagine if Darth Vader was able to go back in time and then possess his younger self, perhaps right before the battle at mustafar, he'd be so powerful!
He'd also be really unwieldy, his style no longer based on the reliable unreliability of his suit and augmentations.
There are a few good fics. Search it in Ao3, with tags Time-Travel and Anakin Skywalker as a present character. You will like them.

I Have a problem with this. The new comics make Darth Vader even more brutal And Sith’ish but they do it so much that him coming to the Light side is very far-fetched. I think they should make a comic book where he has DOUBTS about the Sith. Just my opinion though
This particular ending shows though that Darth Vader does not believe he has a choice. He goes and tries one final desperate bid to save Padme just for "Padme" to say she doesn't recognize him anymore and kill herself in front of him.
Thus this shows why Vader has no real doubts until Luke shows up, because up til then he sincerely does not believe he can still fix anything he did, and his only choice is to move forward as the Empire's greatest enforcer.
Anakin Skywalker's biggest priority was protecting the people he loved. Fear of losing them completely broke him and commitment to the Empire was all he felt he had left, but then conversely being able to save his son's life brought him back.
But remember this is immediately follow revenge of the Sith. I would think he would be at his MOST hateful and dark self at this point in his life. Hateful of the Jedi, of Obi-Wan and of his condition. By the time Luke comes around 35 years later after Anakin's confrontation with Ezra, Ashoka, Palpatine and other people, perhaps then he became more conflicted.
You are right. Hovewer there are more stories about Vader, for example crushing someone’s heart (literally). I’m just saying that over exposure is not good. It is Kinda crushing the Return of the Jedi

I would have ended up much worse than anakin did if the same stuff happened to me, for instance feeling like what and who you devoted your life to serving seems to be lying to you, ahsoka leaving must have hit him hard, and having to put duty first above all else was tearing him apart, and we see good references to this in the clone wars. But yeah that's just me :)
Steven Manuel - of topic but I’d like to see a story about a force user that could care less about either side. Like he trained to be a Jedi but just decided it wasn’t for him. He didn’t join the dark side, he just kinda lived with force powers 🤣 because that’s what I would do. I’d just be a regular guy who could use the force to grab the remote.
He was also unwanted by nearly everyone, his mom gave him up, then obi wan didnt want him,qui gon died, fell in love and watched her leave, then being told he's the chosen one while the council rejecrs him, obi wan is forced by the council to take him. The only one showing him kindness is Palpatine, while Obi wan constantly chides and lectures Anakin then the clone wars happen, no wonder he fell.
His mom didn't want him to be a slave on desert planet, she wanted him to become somebody and joining the order of superheroes did seem a solid career path. Except Jedi themselves did absolutely nothing to actually free her from slavery which is a great example of Jedi not caring about common people. They live in their big ivory tower on Coruscant while people like Shmi have to eek out a living in harsh conditions. Anakin would definetely be calmer if he at least knew that his mother was freed and put in a safer place, given a job or a social benefit to live with some dignity.

When I was reading Anakin's lines... I re-imagined it with Matt Lanters voice and it just gave me the feels man...

I agree with him the Luke who redeems Vader isn't the one we got in the sequel trilogy but we must remember these stories are written by fellow humans so they can either be amazing or subject to mistakes to put it kindly... Art is subjective so while some truly seem to enjoy the last Jedi it can not be denied many hate it with a passion mostly because of the terrible way Luke Skywalker banisher of darkness (as portrayed even in this comic) is depicted as sad and spiteful loner... What a shame in my opinion!!! ... Anyway great comic!!!
i know thats what i was thinking. Luke is built up so nice....even in Rebels between Maul and Ben Kenobi. Even the title of 'A New Hope'....but now luke is just a dump. He's a stepping stool for Rey...the greatest Jedi Master ever....that simply stole all the skills from a sith wannabe. Rey is the true hero of the Saga. and someone everyone should look up to.

It's funny how finding out his father was Darth Vader the most feared and hated man in the galaxy didn't break Luke but in the end only strenghthened his resolve but his influencing Ben to go further down a dark path he was apparently already going down (not that it's well explained who Snoke is or how he even contacted and seduced Ben at all...) Seems to break Luke so bad he abandons the Galaxy and his family and friends without even trying to track Ben down and turn him back to the light or even just apologize for any role he had... I don't think that's a natural progression but some do I guess... All stories are written by people so they appeal to some and not so much to others to each their own I suppose but I doubt anyone could ever convince me the last Jedi is good at all...
I always felt bad for Anakin. It seemed like he tried his hardest to not fall for the dark side but eventually he did and the consequences were gruesome

This is a really cool easter egg. Darth Vader as he kills the Jedi says, "let the past die, kill it if you have to." and if you've seen the new movies with Kylo Ren, he has a scene where he tells Rey the same exact words, "let the past die, kill it if you have to."
Loved that "I am your father" quote with the vision of Obi-Wan and Sidious.
The scene where he watches his son being killed, is when Anakin Skywalker returns.
Ehhh... I don't know. I guess I had gotten the impression through all of this that Vader would have somehow ended up maybe influencing the past. Maybe he would have ended up being the reason that Anakin had visions of Padme dying, like maybe he would have been sort of incorporeal like he was in this comic, so he could only interact through the Force. And he would have tried sending messages to Anakin, and the end result would be him causing the visions that sent him down the path he went on in the first place. He could realize then that he had brought about his own ruination, drive himself deeper down the rabbit hole of hating himself, and bring everything full circle. It would have been a fitting ending.
This form of things doesn't even really make sense. Momin was able to bring a real version of himself from the past back into the present. Vader just gets a shitty acid trip and visions of his past and future life? Doesn't make a ton of sense to me.
But, to each their own I guess.
well to be fair momin was by far a better user of the force so he could of had the ability to bring people back with out needing to go through the portal

Those flower looking things in Padme’s hair look like rose sepals, or “dead heads”, which are what remain when rose flowers die off. These are often pruned off to encourage new growth. Really cool hidden symbolism there, assuming they are what they look like.

So basically when he went into the Netherworld the way that he did it showed him that it was the path, that was set before him he had chosen it but when she got hit by the lightning, he thought that was it and then here comes the blue light was his son Luke Skywalker, and that what he does not know is that his son will be the link to her again.

This definitely answers my question of who created Anakin, I had my suspicions but since there wasn’t really much confirmed I didn’t know what to think, and I love how this shows us more of how anakin turned into Darth Vader, and it explains the scene in the prequels where you can see anakin as a child with the shadow of Darth Vader

I'm Speechless right now, I don't know what to say.
I like how it begun with Vader saying "no" and ended with him saying "yes"
Somewhere Plagueis is shrugging while the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme plays.
I'm not a hundred percent certain about the ending meaning he accepted his role being to make the Empire stronger, to me it showed him that despite not knowing who Luke was in the vision, he knows that after letting go of his pain, *somebody* would finally end his torment because I suppose he had no will to self-terminate to accomplish that.
So when the end of Jedi happens, those brief moments he's beyond happy Luke finally gave him salvation.

Imagine living this nightmare every single day. So sad. Although the Jedi were quite prideful and full of hubris at times, it is still a path I would walk in that universe. It's so much more peaceful.
I interpreted this as Anakin having been given power while he was in the womb, not that sidous is his actual birth father
Well Sidious isn’t his blood father, Anakin had none. Although Sidious and Plagueis had influenced the midichlorians within a random woman to create a being of the force that could have become the most powerful Sith ever.
I loved seeing Ahsoka in this comic!!

I am really not a person who hates the Sequels, they are pretty ok for the most part. But this whole comic series is the most amazing thing since they introduced the new canon!

Well Kylo Ren was aware about Darth Vader's redemption, but from Kylo's perspective this is Vader's fall, not his redemption.

I think what we saw was the Dark Side in its pure form. And the Padme in there was an illusion. She’d never say things like she did to the man she loved.
