    That's the really first recording I have consciously and intentionally listened to when I was 4 years old. After hearing this music I decided to devote my life to music and to become a player and a composer.

    Mr. Preston: What a wonderful gift… I love the Vivaldi-RV522, specially. You are blessed, but your must know that Bach was blessed before of you… You play Bach with the hole dignity that the composer is applying: Well done. What a surprise meeting you today… almost on live! What a treasure, a jewel hidden for me… until now. I have opened my gift today! You triggered me. You are my friend now or I hope so if you permit me that. You are playing the promise to get our world something better. No barriers for good feelings… inner feelings on the depth of our hearts. That is been a prayer for everyone being a better human being. Congratulations for your lesson of love trough music.

    We experience the woeful imperfection of this world, this purgatorial "Valley of Tears," every single day of our lives. Reasonably bright fellows like Jean-Paul Satre and his confréres claimed that they believed in Nothing ("No-Thing" - which is impossible) - the only alternative to which is belief (or Belief) in something or (SomeThing).
    This Music is as close to Musical Perfection as we can hope to come in this life, therefore let us immerse ourselves in it with the kind of Joyfully Stupefying Abandon that children have when splashing about in Ocean Waves, where Questions of "Belief" or "Disbelief" never arise.
    Thank you, dear Lord, for giving us Johann Sebastian Bach, Reverendo Don Antonio Vivaldi and all of the others who were blessed by the Holy Spirit in a Way of that would enable them to give us a foretaste of what we will hope to hear for all Eternity.
    "Absurd," you say? Compared to what?

      Just try playing them on the organ WITHOUT the sheet music for the BACH version, just straight off the score of the concertos by Vivaldi. It may be a good idea for you to stop repeating your nonsense now.
      Compare the printed music side by side. You'll see Bach's han-unless you can't read music.

    • @bb1111116
      @bb1111116 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ramón G Castañeda; I can read music. And looking at the scores I can also read Vivaldi’s hand. Take out all the notes which are from Vivaldi in the Bach transcriptions and then try to play these pieces. The gaps left would ruin the music.

      The issue of copyright didn’t exist then and to take another’s work transcribe it etc was seen as a great regard to the original composer. Even if the original composers of works were not named they were easily recognisable. This is quite an old recording but today I would put the names of original composers eg after Vivaldi etc on the record label as they now seem to do with modern recordings

    This is neither on a Führer organ nor at St. Mary's Church but on the danish Marcussen & Søn organ (1970, 3/35) at Lübeck Cathedral (1247) as a replacement of the Schnitger organ (1696 to 1699) which burnt to ashes during the british Royal Air Force bombing of the medieval city of Lübeck on Palmarum 1942 since german Luftwaffe had destroyed the medieval city of Coventry, England, before.

      What are your sources for this information? The Marcussen organ doesn't seem to have as good a reputation as the one in the Marienkirche. A beautiful sound/recording/performance.

      @@jimborge6167 Hey, Jim, I was born and raised in Lübeck and played myself the Marcussen & Søn organ at Lübeck Cathedral. A wonderful instrument with a noble and transparent sound (as you can hear with this recording) whilst the Führer organ at St. Mary's Church (thats the smaller of the two organs at that church) actually requires extensive restoration and removal of mold and never attracted me sound-wise and is neither seen as an outstanding instrument.

      Christian Michael Hi, Christian. Thanks for that- very interesting. My wife and I visited Lubeck briefly many years ago with some friends living in Hamburg. We didn’t have time to explore the two cathedrals, and I had forgotten the tragic link between Lubeck and Coventry. I was raised in Plymouth in England, which was also bombed flat during the war.

      @@jimborge6167 Jim, havent visited the two big churches, i.e. the Cathedral and St. Marys, you haven’t been to Lübeck :) Not to mention the other three medieval churches within the ancient city walls, i.e. St. Jabob, St. Peter and St. Aegidien - all with remarkable organs of different organ builders. The two historic organs at St. Jacob - which had been saved from the bombing during 2nd WW - are among the oldest playable instruments in the world. Just two examples:

    Do realize this was not recorded on the large organ located in the gallery of the west end of the nave. Rather, this is the Totentanzorgel (or Danse Macabre Organ) located in the ambulatory on the north side of the choir.

      @UlfilasNZ 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually it was recorded on the Marcussen organ at Lübeck Cathedral, not the Totentanzorgel at St Mary's.

      I realise this was three years ago but if it still helps... It's Bach Prelude & Fugue in C BWV 553. (Though it is now thought to be likely that it was written by one of Bach's pupils, not himself.)

    i concerti sono di Vivaldi trascritti da Bach quindi sarebbe corretto scrivere A. Vivaldi concerto in re minore - trascr. per organo di J.S. Bach, ecc. e non come riportato sulla copertina dalla Deutsche Grammophone dove il nome di Vivaldi nemmeno compare, i soliti tedeschi!

    The construction wheel has come full circle - tracker, pneumatic, electro-pneumatic, electric, tracker. Organ playing (like harpsichord and clavichord) is as much about the tactile sensation through keys and pedals. Just because you 'can' use semiconductors and relays doesn't mean you 'have' to.

    • @organbuilder272
      @organbuilder272 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I should hope semi conductors are not used. Nothing wrong about relays. Funny how all the greatest organists of the 20th centure - and before, had not complaint about Electro-pneumatic organs. I wouldn't give a wooden farthing for an electric (DE organ. Organ playing is not about tactile anything. The organ is an ON-OFF instrument. This tactile nonsense had gone a long way to ruining many beautiful instrument. What the hell ever made anyone think that tracker valves can be controlled at playing speed in insanity. It is impossible. Tubular organs are tactile sensitive - so what's you complain in that department.? The tactile myth belongs in the same nut pile as UFO and god.

    • @organbuilder272
      @organbuilder272 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tactile sensation" Sorry, buddy, Urgans use wind, Harpsicords and clavicord s do not. They are percussive instruments. An organ pipe is either on or off and it the wind pressure is not a voicing level then the pitch is off., You tracker fanatics don't know what you are talking about. I do not advocate the use of electronic controls Pneumatics are the gentle way of wining a pipe in the modern time AND - modern consoles do have Tactile sensations.
      Do you ride a horse to get that feel of the animal between the legs. Horsemen speak of that sensation. How about lighting - shouldn't we return to that warm glow of candles as we write with our quills (Tactile feeling of quill on paper) Get real. Wake up - this is the year 2018.

    • @organbuilder272
      @organbuilder272 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      So organs, harpsicords,, clavicords were all made using mechanical action, not because there was nothing else at the time but because it felt good. When we buy and organ the most important thing is to be sure the "Tactile sensation" is the best. We should go back to riding horses so we get the feel of Horsepower. Yes, and walk more so we get the tactile sensation of feet on the ground How about using quills to write. We can feel the pen scratching on the paper - and Penmanship is an art and says much about the person. Yes, dispose of all electric lights so we can experience that warm glow and stink of whale oil lamps. By all means dispose of the valved trumpet and all these clever mechanical levers and such that decorate modern instruments like the bassoon, clarinet, saxophone, french horse. . And pianos should be made as they were in the time of Beethoven. We should not use any electric combination action. By all means we want to get the feel of pulling those drawknobs to turn the stops on. You can Feel the sliders moving - Oh what a thrill. Nearly better than se..... well, you know. Steam locomotives - by all means so we can experience the sicht and sound, not to mention the smell of burning coal and the little jerks as the engine get moving. How I miss the little kicks in the seat as the cars went over the rail joints. Gone!!! all welded rail now. Eliminate power steering so we can feel the rod as we drive. Better that we eliminate cars though. Nothing like the feel of a horse between your legs. You know pipe organs have been so expensive lately. We can eliminate all those damned pipes, they never stay in tune anyway. Just set the chests up there and the organist can have a great time getting his rocks off as he experiences that "Tactile sensation. No music you say, Yes, but the feel is so important. After all, isn't that why they didn't use electricity in 1300, The wanted to have the feel of those keys. I forgot about phones. We should get back to the telegraph. Nothing like feeling that key jitter under the touch of your finger. I hate to use modern technology but the teletype machines felt nice. They got rid of them. Imagine how many Western Union operators wept bitter tears when they took their precious machine away. The problem here is that the audience listening to these antiquated, archaic, obsolete contraptions can't experience that "Tactile sensation" that is driving the organist into a frenzy of passion. So churches and music halls are spending millions of $$$ just for one person to have this thrill of a lifetime. Personally I don't see how anyone can go to a recital and not have the full experience. You know what is so funny about your puirists. You don't tell anyone that all these modern tracker organs have pull down magnets in them. You don't te'' anyone that the valve does not open until you compress all the little felt s at every square and roller board all the war to the chests. Those keys are NOT directly connected to the valves. There is nearly 1/4 inch of felt on every backfall, roller board and square. They wear, and the must compress before the pressure can open the valve. Get off it.
