Never really been interested in classical music growing up in the hood, mainly influenced by black music. But my gf convinced me to go to see the maestro in concert a few years before he passed. I went not knowing what to expect. Had no idea I would be in tears listening to such sublime music. The only explanation I have for why I was in tears is that his music touched my very soul. That for me is real music and the power of what it can do.🥰

I love Morricone. Bernard Herrmann was just as influential, but please don't forget the greatest of all... John Williams.
Have you ever seen him in concert? I was taken to his concert in February 2019 remarkable man for his age to do a tour. He got several standing ovations on the night. Feel honoured to have seen him. RIP Ennio.

When I was near where he was touring, even though I tried, I couldn't get a ticket. It was about 4 or maybe 5 years ago. That says a lot about his qualities, when you can't get a ticket to see someone 85+ in the 21st century...
My Dad had a stroke recently, when I listen to Ennio's music it gives me a sad but very calming effect

I just finished watching Dollars Trilogy again (after soo many years). When I hear "The Ecstasy of Gold" I have a fresh memory of The Ugly running through the cemetery in the pre-finale scene. I just have to say that I didn't have a chance to appreciate something so epic as a teenager, so I do now. Mr. Ennio Morricone's music is so powerful that even after almost 6 decades, it doesn't leave me without tears. Honor to his memory and to all those who contributed to the creation of such art. Huge respect.

In October 2022, a street musician played one of Mr. Morricone's tunes in Torino (Turin, Italy) as I walked a few hundred meters away. It stopped me dead in my tracks as tears filled my eyes.
I used to watch so many Spaghetti Westerns with one of my grandfathers, and these tunes were always there. The rawness, the emotions, the suspense ... and my memories of some of the best times with one of my childhood heroes (grandpa) ... it all rushed back to me.
It felt overwhelming and bloody fantastic.... what a high.
I'm curious to know which piece of his music it was that you had heard.
Makes me think of my dad.... He may be gone but I'll always have the memories.... great music is universal 😊

I will never forget the first time I watched "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly"... My God, it was as if I had fallen into a trance!! I was still a little boy, and got completely immersed into the movie as the relationship between Blondie and Tuco developed. Beginning with a classical introduction to the Wild West, as a story of a good bandit and a bad bandit, the movie gets more and more dynamic and complex every time the main characters get confronted with the raging Civil War. Although they both don't want to be a part of that war, they keep getting drawn into it. As their adventure evolves, they find more and more young dead soldiers on both sides. As the story approaches its climax, they are forced to enter a real battle, the one over a bridge standing between them and the cherished gold hoard, buried on a military graveyard under the name of a soldier "Arch Stanton". The scene where the captain of the Union dies smiling, as he watches that bridge blow up, the bridge that costed countless lives of young soldiers on both sides, shows the absurdity and tragedy of warfare across all time and space. And right after that, Blondie gives a dying soldier of the South one last puff of a cigar, before he uses it to shot a cannonball at Tuco, who was riding full speed ahead to get the gold for himself. Three bandits, who are completely dedicated to their own selfish interests, surrounded by countless soldiers, all dying for ideals, and on someone else's command. For me, these bandits represent Life, and our pure survival instinct at the face of madness and destruction. And after realizing this profound truth, in a matter of minutes, and propelled by Morricones legendary "Ecstasy of Gold" , you are suddenly witnessing one of the greatest movie scenes in history- the final gunfight at the graveyard! What a story, what a movie, what a music! I get goosebumps every time I think of it, even now, 30 years latter..
