I actually got a Nintendo switch a few days ago and one of the games that I got was frontiers. I haven’t gotten past Kronos island yet, though I’m close, but from what I’ve seen so far, I think it’s super fun. I don’t see a problem with graphics, but maybe it’s because I haven’t seen it with better quality. The only real time that it has bad quality (for me) is when I’m playing it on the smaller screen and not hooked up to a TV, which makes perfect sense considering how you have all this detail crammed into a screen that’s smaller than an iPad. P.S, thank you. Your video about giganto actually helped me beat him with EXTREME ease. I was on the part where you button mash so you don’t get “eaten” by giganto, and if it weren’t for you mentioning that you could use the joystick instead of mashing the button, I probably would’ve died. Thanks to you I was able to beat him first try. I already liked your channel but you’ve earned a new sub
Nice video man! In my experience with playing the Sonic games on the Switch, if it's your only option, (which was me for awhile until I had better ways to play) then there's a good chance that you can still enjoy it despite frame rate drops for the more graphically intense games.
I got Colors Ultimate from a used game shop and had no problems to speak of (none that were significant or stopped me from having fun at least) It looks amazing and I still have fun with it. I'm glad that it it was my first switch game!

As someone who’s never been bothered with framerate (I still play Sonic Unleashed on my Xbox 360 since I can’t be bothered with emulation or buying a Series X), I think the Switch ports for Sonic games are optimized pretty well. Plus, it’s nice to have these games on the go whenever I play in handheld mode.
I mostly agree that Sonic games on Switch are pretty well optimized, but Sonic Frontiers on the Switch looks like a flipping mid PS Vita port (and some aspects of the game, like when you're in a cave in Ares and Chaos Island looks absolutely sinful even for PS Vita standards), and there's mods for the Switch version that give it better foliage and other graphical enchantments and still runs at around 30fps (it occasionally drops frames a little bit, but it's not too bad, and the base game itself drops frame even though it looks horrible)
Everyone always goes on about playing “on the go” but let’s be real. How often and how long do you play on the go?? 10 minutes? An hour in the car?? It just ain’t worth the sacrifice of power. Especially if you play online with smash etc, nobody wants to play that “on the go” without internet..
Honestly Mario and Sonic 2020 is a pretty fun game, story mode is kinda lack luster and you have to play it just to unlock more stuff I think but besides that it’s pretty fun 🔥

Sonic colors ultimate is amazing to me because i didnt play it on launch inly issue that i came across was the audio settings the sfx and music are on the same bar you cant change them separately but other than that it was a great experience
Since I don't see anyone else saying anything about it, I'm pretty sure that most of the crazy graphical bugs in the Switch version of Colors Ultimate were actually recorded from Yuzu, a Switch emulator. It accentuated a problem that doesn't exist nearly as much on actual hardware.
Mania origins and Olympic games were the best looking ones if I have to be the most objective ones Still love frontiers even if I got the short end of the stick...but at least I can play in my opinion a contender for an AAA game on the go, hot take or not its got a lot going on with it especially now with update 2

While Frontiers is not for me, I enjoy stuff such as Team Sonic Racing; that game in particular is my second favorite Sonic title following Colors. Forces isn't that great, but I found fun out of it. I played some Sonic Mania on my nephew's Switch. It's got a lot going for it. Superstars has potential to be a game I might pick up. As for the Tokyo Olympics? I like it. Nice coverage.

I don’t wanna be that guy and I’m sure there’s not much to talk about but the sega ages ports of sonic 1 and 2 are exclusive to switch and those versions had the drop dash before origins did it. Still a fun video to watch keep up the good work 👍

I really liked forces 😅 I guess because it tried to get the player in the game and I felt it played smooth on the Nintendo. I had fun. Never finished colours though.

How is someone posting a video in August 2023 and still spreading misinformation about the Colors glitches on switch. Most of those were from people playing on Switch Emulators. I got it for Christmas last year and experienced none of the regular glitches people had at launch, most have been patched out. The rest of the video is great, though. I've gotten all of my Sonic games on Switch despite having PC and PS4 just cause I like handheld more.
I just forgot how poorly optimized and downgraded Colors Ultimate, Frontiers and Forces are. From 60 FPS on Lost World Wii U to 30 FPS Frontiers and Forces Switch is unacceptable and I am pretty sure Switch is powerful enough to play Colors in 60 FPS considering Colors' age. Knowing how Sega fucked Colors Ultimate by fucking levels' art direction from the original vision with bloom that goes against the intended look, killing the challenge with infinite lives, disc-locked content, infamous Switch launch seizure glitches and remixes that are somehow worst than the original music and released unfinished, I doubt Sega even cared and especially since they like to only focus on people with low-standards for reviews. Team Sonic Racing has most of the same graphics as it's other versions, just sadly 720p and 30 FPS despite Nintendo having Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at 1080p and 60 FPS. Mania is the only game to have the most polished Switch version especially after the criticisms on the special stage frame rate dropping and Home button bug have been addressed with it being 1080p and 60 FPS. Origins runs fine on 60 FPS, but sadly runs 30 FPS in the menus which takes me out of the experience. Not like Origins is even good (Which is not because it's a downright scam) considering Sonic 1 Forever, Sonic 2 Absolute, Sonic 3 AIR and Sonic CD Restored are better (And free!) ways to play. If you have a PC then you have to excuse not the decompile Sonic 1, 2 and CD mobile ports and finding a 3&K rom to play with those. If you have an Xbox One/Series, PS4/5 and PC (Especially the Next-Gen consoles and PC) then get the multiplatform Sonic games on there instead because all of them are 60 FPS and higher resolutions. Only Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games are worth getting on Switch even if you have an Xbox, PlayStation or PC despite Tokyo 2020 is not as good as the Wii ones. If the Switch is your only console then I guess the ports are serviceable.
It would be so great to have more exclusive sonic games on the switch because mostly all sonic games are usually downgraded due to them being on the Xbox or PS4 if we could have a sonic exclusive Nintendo switch game I feel like it would be just right for the graphics and framework
Ordinarily I will take a solid, stable framerate at the cost of a degree of graphical fidelity quite happily, but in my opinion that comparison between Switch and PS5 for Superstars is a bit yikes. I've seen issues with aliasing too, and it seems some of the Emerald powers can cause the framerate to chug a little. It absolutely seems like a _very_ respectable port though for sure, which is great in a day and age where the Switch is only showing its age more and more with crappy port after crappy port. I think though this might be a PS5 buy for me. Looking forward to it regardless!

Ordinarily I will take a solid, stable framerate at the cost of a degree of graphical fidelity quite happily, but in my opinion that comparison between Switch and PS5 for Superstars is a bit yikes. I've seen issues with aliasing too, and it seems some of the Emerald powers can cause the framerate to chug a little. It absolutely seems like a _very_ respectable port though for sure, which is great in a day and age where the Switch is only showing its age more and more with crappy port after crappy port. I think though this might be a PS5 buy for me. Looking forward to it regardless!

I have Sonic Colors Ultimate on Switch and lucky I haven’t gotten any glitches yet 😅
Well technically every player has had a glitch, the wisp meter is half broken, the effect is like cracked to the right or something lol

@@oreogod1985 It was because SEGA would've had to get a bigger cartridge to fit the opening cutscene on switch. They decided to shaft green light ride to save money. SACRELIGOUS
Also my gosh the different font in the switch version for character dialouge is AWFUL

Yeah i believe it’s now patched, but I know a lot of kids won’t be updating their switches so this could very easily still happen
The music for the frontiers review is “Bridge the gap” and undefeatable for like 5 seconds lol
