You don't need the birds to get to the other islands. It's just the hard but less awkward way. The main way to those islands is by rail or doing some of Tails' quests.
True. You just have to talk to Tails to open up that shooting mini game, so that robot can destroy the mountain path to open up the ravine to get the Red Emerald.
I actually LOVE Chaos Island. And you don't need the birds to go to another island, each island is connected by rails so you only need to figure out which Island is connected to the other and that's it. You also don't necessarily need to lock on to the birds too. Great video nonetheless, just wanted to point that out
Considering the ridiculous lack of render range, and the pop in, it makes figuring out where the rails are a pain in the ass, so in that sense it almost doesn't count lol
Except for the one stupid island where there's a very obvious ramp made from a raised bridge you can use to jump across very easily only to get stopped by an invisible wall meaning you can't complete the map before completing any levels to unlock the fast travel to said levels
It’s so good to finally get that feeling of general praise for a Sonic game again. Deservingly so, it’s genuinely a good game. Even if I don’t 100% the game, going back to it will be really fun
Oh I didn't know you could do...anything with the sniper birds, to be honest. The way I got to the island was by going around and searching for ways I could potentially get there, and when I eventually found a set of rails that connected to that island, it felt super rewarding.
I 100% completed it today, the games not perfect but a massive step in the right direction for the series. So happy I never gave up on sonic, really excited for the future.
Yeah, took me about 30 hours to 100% too. I even went to the trouble to 100% the stuff that you don't really need too for achievements also. For example, I also gathered all the different fish at every fishing spot (achievements only require you do it at one), and completing all objectives in every cyber space level twice (once again, achievements only require you do it for just one level, once) - once for the main game via the portals, and then again for the arcade menu that appears on the title screen after finishing the game (apparently your times and ranks in the levels doesn't carry over from the story mode to the arcade mode menu for the levels). The game is definitely fun. Can't argue with that. It's not often I go to the trouble to do all that for a game I play these days. Usually I've got something else to play, but I just didn't want to say goodbye to Frontiers. Will be looking forward to Frontiers 2 now :p.
The guy praised the game for having an amazing camera and controls, it just doesnt deserve "all the praise" when that praise is flatout lies like this.-
there are lots of rails that lead to the different islands in chaos island. but the islands often link together and cant be traveled to from outside, so it takes time. the birds arent actually how you're supposed to travel
The ost, fights, and gameplay are sooo good. I think when it comes to the final boss, you have to remember the development team size. It's so small compared to gamefreak or any other game so what they did with
With the Chaos Islands bit, there are actually a few Rail-paths that connect the islands prior to completing the challenges. They're a bit awkwardly placed and hard to find, but once you figure out the intended spots it's not too bad. For instance, getting to the Blue emerald (iirc) requires you to go to the small island at the southwest corner, and there should be a rail on the northern end of that isle that connects to the Blue emerald's island, and once the challenge is completed you can unlock the white rail to the main island.
For anyone still struggling with 1-2, don't bother going through the orange hoops, normally they are great for shortening your time but in this level they slow you down, after that getting S rank takes no time at all, still the best cyberspace level.
You really don't need the Birds at all to reach the other parts of Chaos island. I didn't even use them for that, there is usually some rail pathways you can find to take you to all of the other peaks.
I 100%ed this game in about 29 hours counting all the achievements. While I was achievement hunting I found out how to break the game with Big when I got to the last island and proceeded to fish with and buy several thousand Koko from him because I literally had over 700 purple coins from not using them throughout the entire game. At max attack power I killed the final boss in just a few minutes on hard mode and it was awesome. My last achievement was "Combo Crackerjack" since I was getting too powerful to even start a phantom rush by the end of the game. Thankfully, one of the earlier guardians has an invincible segment of his body that you can Infinitely combo against and I got the achievement that way. Exploits aside,, this is probably my favorite overall experience with a sonic game since Mania.
Yeah, the birds are not the only way to cross to those islands, however the way you actually get across isn’t the easiest thing to figure out either. It’s all about finding the specific rails that will take you across
I got my platinum a few days ago as well, and I can say 100% was a lot of fun. That said, you absolutely *do no* need to use those birds to get to the other areas on the 3rd island. I know because that was my initial idea too. All of them have rails that either already lead to them or will eventually as you progress the story or uncover the map more. It's just simply an extra way of getting there early.
YOU CAN USE THE BIRDS!? I just used the rails and lost my mind getting to places. Besides that (and having to slowly max my rings and speed one by one), I loved this game!
My only complaints with this game are the one pinball section being frustrating, Ouranos Island could’ve used a different theme instead of another grassy plain, and there should’ve been more skills in the skill tree because as it stands, you unlock all of them too early. But everything else is excellent (yes, even “The End” because I like bullet hell gameplay thanks to Undertale and the dialogue is chilling, as well as the Cyber Space levels which I think control fine) and this has become my favorite Sonic game Edit: After playing the DLC, more issues have become prevalent. Knuckles controls like ass while in the air, the Master King Koco Trial is such an absurd difficulty spike, and for how much effort some of the map challenges take to do them you should be unlocking a lot more of the map instead of 5 squares at a time. So as a result, Frontiers is now at #5 for me
The "amazing reason" for having to collect the chaos emeralds multiple times: Sonic gets shot by a laser in the sky every time he goes to a new area then they get scattered again. So amazing lol

11:33 there's actually a technique to make this easier. It's called griddy-ing basically homing attack something and then boost out of the homing attack
Not sure if you would count this towards 100%, but the map-placed Memory Tokens technically do not respawn ever once you get them, so do those count as 100%?
I think they game is really alright. And a massive w for sonic fans especially the last decade or so. Tho i do have my gripes, like the boss battles literally just being a giant parry mini game. You definitely don't need to ride on those birds on the third island btw. I did the game 100% and never used the birds. There is a path that leads there. Tbh though, imo getting 100% includes getting all the memory tokens and fish.
Getting all memory tokens is a non-factor because not only do they respawn, there is no "getting all of them". Cyloop can generate an infinite amount of them.
@@KarmaGrass Yeah. Well..I only have one island left >_> It's been more fun than I expected. Mostly in sorta breaking them and finding ways to cheese them.

@@TheLonelyGoomba There really isn't a reason to cheese them lol it's mostly find the platform segment that leads to the fragment. I'm too terrified by the quantity of fragments on the desert island to do every one.

You used BIRDS for Chaos island??? you can do that???? DAMN! I did it the old puzzle way 10:20 Oh wow, Im glad the update I played with didn't have THAT problem , there are extra options to "use everything to raise Speed/Ring"
The birds aren't the only way to get to the islands. I didn't even know you could use them to fly so far! And they can't be targeted until after they dive at you, which makes it very annoying.
The one thing I don't like about the game is how stupidly easy it is to max out your ring counter in the over world, literally all you have to do is run in circles for a little while and pow, you'll have your ring count maxed out without going anywhere making the actual over world rings quite useless

Tbh though, imo getting 100% includes getting all the memory tokens and fish.
Getting all memory tokens is a non-factor because not only do they respawn, there is no "getting all of them". Cyloop can generate an infinite amount of them.
Lonely Goomba, are you crazy enough to grab every token on every island?
@@KarmaGrass Yeah. Well..I only have one island left >_>
It's been more fun than I expected. Mostly in sorta breaking them and finding ways to cheese them.
@@lpfan4491 they 100% do not respawn. Once they're gone they're gone. You can get them all as in, there are none on the map screen, you can even filter the map screen to show memory tokens so it's easier to know you have them all. I know this cos I did it
@@TheLonelyGoomba There really isn't a reason to cheese them lol it's mostly find the platform segment that leads to the fragment. I'm too terrified by the quantity of fragments on the desert island to do every one.
Respect to Nathaniel for liking 2000s metal music
Fun fact the true final boss bullets it shoots will never hurt u as long as u shoot the same colour coded bullet, u can ram your robot into the dark bullets while your dark bullets stay fired
I like how he added charii's tweet 😂
I really see sonic frontiers to be the redemption for sonic, and while open zone is in first game syndrom case in this case I more than happy is exist and hope to get this game soon ^^
I actually did everything in the game this video mentions when I played for the first 2 days + I got platnium and trust me it's hella fun

Nathaniel Bandy: *Censored swear words but leaves "damn" uncensored*
Nathaniel Bandy sequence breaking with the birds without even realizing it
What's funny is that I just 100% it as well as I checked TH-cam and saw this on my recommended. Such great timing
Oranos has the best guardians
Even though I don't have to fight them I still go back to fight them
(Video idea) Is it possible to beat all cyber space levels by only moving forward ?
New game after a few months/years: *comes out*
Him: *completing them in few hours/days*
Him a week later: Now what?
Well I already got an S rank in 1-2, so now I can live happy knowing that if I wanted to “100%” the game, I could.
Ain’t you Nathaniel b?
Behind the scene sonic frontier... the project actually started on TH-cam "Sega hired this man". man got a job.....I got amazon pre-order already. I can't wait to play it.
The way Sonic bounces around reminds me of how bungee gum has properties of both rubber and gum
You used BIRDS for Chaos island??? you can do that???? DAMN! I did it the old puzzle way
10:20 Oh wow, Im glad the update I played with didn't have THAT problem , there are extra options to "use everything to raise Speed/Ring"
The birds aren't the only way to get to the islands. I didn't even know you could use them to fly so far! And they can't be targeted until after they dive at you, which makes it very annoying.
Lol 1:50 this pat got me in tears!!
A good Sonic game story finally coming out, has given Nathaniel so much energy. XD
From December 31st, 2022 - January 18, 2023, I 100%'d SONIC FRONTIERS (on PC)
The one thing I don't like about the game is how stupidly easy it is to max out your ring counter in the over world, literally all you have to do is run in circles for a little while and pow, you'll have your ring count maxed out without going anywhere making the actual over world rings quite useless
