Two things: 1. Sonic mega collection will always hold a special place in my heart just for the soundtrack alone: that extras menu theme still soothes my soul 🤗 2. All these collections, and we still don't have one for the advance, rush, or adventure: am I the only one who has a problem with that?
Besides, Sonic Mega Collection Plus has save states so you can save and continue where you left off in Sonic 1 & 2, Sonic & Knuckles, and Sonic 3D Blast.
For me, both Sonic Jam & Sonic Mega Collections will ALWAYS be the definitive way to play and enjoy the classic Sonic games! I still have very fawn memories of those games as a child! It really hits my Sonic nostalgic really hard! And the music library in Mega Collection is peak classic Sonic music! 🤗❤
Despite all the valid and obvious issues with Sonic Origins Plus which I am not going to defend, I still like it for what it is. Especially since it gave me the chance to play through and complete Sonic 3&K and try out the Game Gear titles.
I remember playing Classic Collection on DS and Mega collection on GameCube. I remember spending hours just going through the artwork in both games but spending so much time watching the Sonic CD opening over and over again. Good times.
Mega Collection will always be the GOAT for introducing me to the classic Sonic games. Plus, the clear effort and passion put into that compilation has yet to be surpassed by any other collection since.
The Classic Sonic Collection on the DS CARRIED my childhood, man... That game (as well as Sonic Rush) was my first ever exposure to Sonic The Hedgehog. Looking back on it, this collection, (on a technical standpoint) ain't very good. But I can't even hate it. That collection continues to hold a special place in my heart.
When I was very young, Sonic classic collection on the ds was my first ever sonic game and I cannot thank it enough for introducing me to now what's been my favourite videogame franchise ever for years.
The fact is that Mario never got fed up with the remakes of his classic games, the only ones being "Super Mario All Stars" (for SNES) and "Super Mario 3D All Stars" (for Switch).
The reason Mega Collection Plus wasn't released to the GameCube is because all of the additional Game Gear games got included in the GameCube release of Sonic Adventure DX on GameCube instead.
Mega and Gems were just, so good, so many memories, and honestly surprised they didn't try to port Sonic Jam to PC at least like R and 3D Blast, but eh for Origins, yeah, by that point, we had great remasters by whitehead and other fans themselves, SEGA knew they had to compete but didn't, if anything, if they added Knuckles Chaotix and one of Tails' game in a similar style to whitehead's with features from them, it would've been worth it, but by god, removing the Sonic 1 to 3 and CD from everything except mobile and what they did to the team, it was just another black eye right beside Colors Ultimate, per usual, just not surprising
I recently bought mega collection plus for ps2 and I’m having a blast playing the games, the game gear games are a nice touch, but being able to play all the classics for 9$ is well worth it. Also you automatically unlock comix zone and the ooze if you have a sonic heroes save file on the same memory card.
Okay to be fair to Classic Collection, the last major port of a Genesis Sonic game on handheld was the infamous Sonic Genesis on GBA. As someone who lived that, Classic Collection was beautiful.
Aw yeah, the chill extras music from gems collection has to be one of my fav soundtracks in the entire series, I'd always use it to study if it was raining outside, and a lot of the mega collection ones bring me joy as well
Knuckles' Chaotix and SegaSonic The Hedgehog were actually planned to appear in Gems Collection (or mega, I can't remember) but I think they said emulation problems for Chaotix and lack of a trackball for SegaSonic were the reasons they weren't included.
Sonic Mega Collection+ was my first ever sonic game and I've been a fan of the series ever since. As much as I hate how Sonic Origins went about rereleasing it's classic games, I am happy that it is introducing new fans to the series like Mega Collection did for me so many years ago. This video was a really cool dive into all the Sonic collections and I'm looking forward to whatever topics you talk about in the future.
My biggest quarrel with the game is that hidden palace doesn’t use its unused song it uses the song from a prototype of sonic 2 that the prototype used as a placeholder which is just the mystic cave 2player music BUT the song is still in origins sound no 120 in museum normal collection named extra
The reason why the games exclusive to the Japanese versions of Sega Mega Collection and Sonic Gems Collection weren’t included in the North American releases of those two collections is because “E10+” didn’t exist until 2005, and Sega didn’t want those collections to be rated T for Teen over here, so they cut out Comix Zone, The Ooze, Bonanza Brothers, and the Streets of Rage trilogy in North America in order to secure an E for Everyone rating.
I honestly only ever experienced one bug once in origins and that was it so I had a really good time and to me personally they are the best official way to play the classic games
Honestly the likely reason that 3d blast has only been rereleased as its genesis version is because it'd take more work and disc space to port the saturn/pc ver compared to just using the very small genesis version with the existing genesis emulator
using the pc/saturn ver would also require using a decent chunk of disc space (which is especially limited on gamecube) for just this one game's cd audio tracks, a game you're probably not even buying mega collection for
Sonic Classic Collection was actually going to be like a diet/mini Sonic Mega Collection. Spinball, 3D Blast and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine were all planned to be included but ultimately were scrapped for unknown reasons and a "movies" tab was meant to be on the main menu but was also scrapped. What the included videos were going to be were "The History of Sonic", something related to Sonic Chronicles, probably a trailer for the game kinda like how Mega Collection had trailers for Sonic Advance 2 & Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and an unknown third video related to gameplay footage of some kind, probably for the games included in the collection or related to other Sonic games released at the time.
My best Sonic collection is Sonic Mega Collection Plus, which I got for my OG Xbox. When I found out that Origins was coming out for Switch and other systems, I was happy. Mainly because it finally made Sonic 3 & Knuckles playable since early 2009. Sega didn't re-release Sonic 3 & Knuckles because of these so-called music copyrights from Michael Jackson. After he died in June of 2009, Sonic 3 & Knuckles was never re-released again until Origins came out. I know they changed the music to some stages in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, but the bottom line is that it's great to play all Sonic games in Origins
I never actually played Mega Collection, but Gems Collection on the PS2 was my childhood! I played Sonic the fighters with my brother all the time. Out of everything in the game it's probably the only real "gem" I don't know why people always try to bash it? Unless you're just button mashing, it has some real complex systems and is overall just a great arcade fighter with really pretty graphics.
speaking of collections...shadow has collected everything from the house he left me with no house, a wooden chair, an old busted monitor, an almost red ringed 360 and a copy of Sonic 06. I H A T E that hedgehog and next time... I'm going to make an announcement!
Thanks for Covering the Sonic Collections and i hope that sega fixes sonic frontiers because its one of the most enjoyable games I have experienced in a long time
Jam, Mega Collection Plus, And Gems Collection Are Easily The Best Ways To Play These In Terms Of Official Ways. If We're Talking Non-Official Ways, Then It's Sonic 1 Forever, Origins Plus CD, Sonic 2 Absolute, And Sonic 3 A.I.R
The only reason why sonic gems collection didn’t have the original classic sonic games because the PLAYSTATION 2 Already had a collection called sonic mega collection that had the games with it so it didn’t make sense for them to do that
I read somewhere that the (possible) reason for the removal of the Streets of Rage games on Sonic Gems Collection is because Sega of America didn't want the collection to get a Teen rating.
I would genuinely pay $80 for a collection for Sonic Generations, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Colors and Sonic Lost world bundle. Sega is missing out on so much money right now because I believe people would pay a lot for it too.
10:36 I'm glad that they were able to replace the licensed music though they should've used the actual prototype songs instead of putting the Windows MIDI versions of those songs through a converter, or at least add the actual prototype songs as an option in Sonic Origins Plus.
Just got it for the my Wii. It has backward compatibility so I’m able to play the GameCube version. I can now safely say, it’s better than origins. That is Mega collection
They should include an option where you can switch between the original and remastered soundtracks of Sonic 1 and 2 and the original and 2011 soundtracks of Sonic CD in Sonic Origins in a future patch. They should also fix the audio mixing, like did you notice that the music in each game is quiet while the sound effects are loud? Sonic 3 and Knuckles' music is also muffled, they should fix that too. Sonic Mania's audio mixing is a lot more clearer than Sonic Origins.
Apparently the Genesis titles Japanese Gems Collection are exclusive to that version because of age rating concerns. It would’ve made Gems Collection a T or E10 title. SEGA Genesis Collection on PS2 and PSP features Bonanza Bros and is rated T.
Nice video, but am just gonna say that: 1. Sonic Origins is getting more patches, meaning it'll get fixed. 2. The Blur is already fixed, meaning they are more cleaner.

The reason no Saturn games were included in the GC games is because Saturn is a complicated console to emulate. It wasn't impossible, but certainly not worth the hassle. 9:43 What exactly makes the original Steam 2011 release of Sonic CD superior in every way, out of curiosity? I get that there's the change to lives and audio clips/loops as well as the different menu system, but what else?
Every single person keeps saying Origins is full of bugs. Bugs everywhere! But I've only experienced one bug in the 2 years it came out. Whats happening? And yes I like Origins. I don't many issues with it. Its the classic games on modern consoles. And thats it. Thats all I wanted and got it
I used to see the Gamecube version as the worst mega collection and was puzzled it didn’t have plus. With every game gear game unlockable in sonic adventure dx I can see why it musta felt unnecessary
Even though Mega Collection Plus has more games on PS2, the emulation is also much worse than on the Gamecube. Mega Collection on Gamecube had perfect emulation. So the PS2 version was worse
@SFproductions1 Damn it! That sucks and is also unfortunate to hear that you cannot make save states for these aforementioned Sega Genesis Sonic games in Sonic Mega Collection on the GameCube.
i like the launch base act one music in origins and i will die on this hill also i grew up with MC+ and i will rot on this hill also i like origins and i will get reborn on this hill
I dont think origins is bad, i mean, they have so much content but i will admit, there is a few bugs but i barley run into them but i wanna talk about sonic classic collection cuz when i was young, i saw the game and i really liked it i plucked it in my 3ds, look at some art, and play the games and have fun but sadly i lost them but it was fun playing the game (i didn't get past act 2 of angel island in sonic 3)
For mega collection plus not coming to GameCube I guess that was due to the only meaningful new content being the game gear games and they were in Adventure DX.
Sonic mega collection menu music is making me feel something
I can feel Sonic Mega Collection Menu Music coming inside of me

Same bro it's magnificent
Boy am i glad i mega and gems collection as kid. Still got them!! Little did i know how special they would become
Classic Collection was my first exposure to Sonic too, it was a pretty nice collection that did a great job
5:48 We got:
Sonic Labyrinth
Sonic 1 8-bit
Sonic Chaos
Mean Bean 8-Bit
Sonic Drift and…….
5:52 yea we don’t talk about that one.
Sonic Classic Collection Appreciation lets goooo
At the end of the day, the only thing holding back Sonic is Sega themselves

Very good video. Props to being the first person I’ve seen who acknowledges that the whole Sonic 3 music situation was out of Sega’s control.
My biggest quarrel with the game is that hidden palace doesn’t use its unused song it uses the song from a prototype of sonic 2 that the prototype used as a placeholder which is just the mystic cave 2player music BUT the song is still in origins sound no 120 in museum normal collection named extra

ehh thats not really a sonic collection
@@SFproductions1and a game called sega megadrive classic which has sonic 1 and 2 mean bean spinball

Bro was literally looking this topic up when I saw this 😂
Well, classic collection is basically emulation
SMCP was not on GameCube due to storage limitations
Here's my ranking of these games for no reason (also that sonic blast slander shall not be Forgiven)
1-sonic classic collection ds
2-sonic jam
3-sonic mega collection
4-sonic gems collection
5-sonc mega collection plus
6-sonic jam
7-sonic scam plus
8-sonic scam
9-sonic 3-pak
JAM and upward they are petty GOATED
None of them really as good as the greatest collection ever! Kirby dream collection (okay i showed my bais now BYE!)
I'm pretty sure the original collection didn't include Spinball or Sonic 3 because of memory issues
I'm sure by know you know of lock on technology and the idea of having two games to create on experience that was created because of memory issues
Meanwhile, the Sonic and Garfield Collection for PC is still crying in the corner you left it in 💀
I was only covering collections that had 3 games or more because in my opinion, if it's only two games, then it's more of a bundle
It's 100% a bundle; I just remembered it only has Sonic and Knuckles, Garfield, and some random puzzle game 💀
I think sonic 3 is that rare
The gamegear emulation in origins also has a ton of slooooooooooow dooooooooooooownn
My idea for a perfect Sonic collection:

4:27 I think they were afraid that the ESRB would rate the game T since E10+ didn't exist in 2002.
Interesting
I'm like 90% sure sonic classic collection released before sonic 3.
It released in 1995 while Sonic 3 was 1994
We really need a collection with sa1,sa2, and heroes (maybe shadow the hedgehog and 06)
I love sonic gems collection
3:41 *never got ported (PC version doesn't count cause It has noticiable differences which affects the gameplay)

3:30 because emulating the saturn on a gamecube is a pipedream
Who said anything about emulation?
Honestly sega should just remake the game gear games and port old games for a new collection
There is a hack rom for Sonic Classics that has all three main games
The remaster of sonic mega collection and sonic mega collection plus could be crazy but now this is such a waste of money
You forgot to mention sonic's ultimate genesis collection
That's not necessarily a Sonic collection
Was the “common fucking decency” part a cybershell reference or am I going insane?
@@ItYaBoiGreen nope you got it 😂
Sonic origins is great and bugs are fun

I was only including collections with 3 games or more. That's why i didn't include sonic and knuckles collection or any of the 2 pack bundles
@@SFproductions1 Understandable! A fantastic video nonetheless
@@AprilSamurai thank you my friend
@@SFproductions1 Anytime looking forward to your next vid!
Wait is the music still labeled wrong? The game released almost 2 years ago 😮
Can you also make save states for Sonic 1 & 2, Sonic & Knuckles, and Sonic 3D Blast in Sonic Mega Collection on the GameCube?
I don't think so
@SFproductions1 Damn it! That sucks and is also unfortunate to hear that you cannot make save states for these aforementioned Sega Genesis Sonic games in Sonic Mega Collection on the GameCube.
i like the launch base act one music in origins and i will die on this hill
also i grew up with MC+ and i will rot on this hill
also i like origins and i will get reborn on this hill
I dont think origins is bad, i mean, they have so much content but i will admit, there is a few bugs but i barley run into them but i wanna talk about sonic classic collection cuz when i was young, i saw the game and i really liked it i plucked it in my 3ds, look at some art, and play the games and have fun but sadly i lost them but it was fun playing the game (i didn't get past act 2 of angel island in sonic 3)
For mega collection plus not coming to GameCube I guess that was due to the only meaningful new content being the game gear games and they were in Adventure DX.
