They built the worlds thinnest phone( which has a freaking headphone jack!!!), the first phone with 6 gigs of ram, the first retina scanner in a phone, the first on-screen finger print sensor, and now a near bezelless phone. Vivo has always been an outlier; a very experimental company, like Nintendo and their Virtual Boys. Give some props to Vivo for inspiring some of your favourite phones.

A central mobile terminal that connects with everything. A magic blackbox.

I've had an idea for a smartphone that would be a new type of design. I'm never gonna make it so I don't mind talking about it. They come in two interchangeable pieces: 1. Core hardware system. 2. Wireless interface. -So the core system would merely be a brick you keep in your bag or pocket or perhaps it works as something less sophisticated than a smart phone, like a watch or other accessory or piece of clothing. Or maybe even something you throw on your key chain. -The wireless interface would be the screen, camera, speakers, etc. Pros: -Hidden core system means it can be made larger and less form fitting, especially since it doesn't have to work around ergonomics and built-in interface tech. -Higher-end specs can be jammed into the device without making extra sacrifices for screen or speaker quality, battery size. Even heat management would be simpler. -The wireless interface doesn't need to be 'smartphone' in it's design. It could be designed like a pair of sunglasses, for instance. -Interchangeable pieces means it would be less complicated to repair. Cracked screen? Why repair the hardware? You can also opt to upgrade one or the other instead of both. -Wireless interface doesn't need to be a single device. It could be individual devices (if you so desire) that all interface with the same hardware that you keep in your pocket. -Display to multiple interface systems. Want to share a video with someone? Why share the file or send a link when you can just display it on their interface? -Increased security: your core device is stored in the core system. The wireless interface (what you use) is just an interface. If you lose it, break it or have it stolen, your core device and all of the information on it would still be kept safe. Cons: -Extra piece means extra battery. You'd have to keep both charged. -Extra piece means extra thing you have to remember to take with you. -Wireless interface may invite input lag, miscommunication/cross-talk, desync issues.
If they're really going to do a pop-up camera, then the camera should have a physical slide button on the back that you would slide up with one of your fingers - to get rid of the risk of having that electrical motor fail, and then you don't have a front facing camera anymore since under-screen cameras are still a few years off.
I'm still rocking the Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro and I haven't had any issues with the pop-up camera! Would definitely prefer to buy a phone with a pop-up camera again, sure beats bezels.

One concern about popping camera is their durability. A fixed camera have less moving part so its less prone to failure. But honestly I like the popping camera compare to a stupid notch on the screen.

Well, for now, since it's still in development, you wouldn't get any reasonable price, even if you COULD buy buy it. Unless a company lives a lot by their name (most popular example would be Apple), they want to release a product, that's at least somewhat reasonably priced. I'd guess there will still be like an $800(+) pricetag on it, once released, but that would be normal for a product that brings in some innovations. For a concept like this, I wouldn't be surprised, to see a 2k pricetag for it.
Yes. This is the dream. No bezels. I imagine over time that little pop up camera will get smaller and smaller and quicker too like spring loaded. Then it becomes less of a risk of say accidentally slapping it off. We'll look back and laugh at why we ever considered "the notch" lol

I don't understand why they didn't make it spring-loaded. Laptop DVD drives have switched from being motorized to spring-loaded. Wouldn't that be quicker and the absent of a motor can extend the life of the device. You can push it in once you're done with it.

I've had an idea for a smartphone that would be a new type of design. I'm never gonna make it so I don't mind talking about it.
They come in two interchangeable pieces:
1. Core hardware system.
2. Wireless interface.
-So the core system would merely be a brick you keep in your bag or pocket or perhaps it works as something less sophisticated than a smart phone, like a watch or other accessory or piece of clothing. Or maybe even something you throw on your key chain.
-The wireless interface would be the screen, camera, speakers, etc.
Pros:
-Hidden core system means it can be made larger and less form fitting, especially since it doesn't have to work around ergonomics and built-in interface tech.
-Higher-end specs can be jammed into the device without making extra sacrifices for screen or speaker quality, battery size. Even heat management would be simpler.
-The wireless interface doesn't need to be 'smartphone' in it's design. It could be designed like a pair of sunglasses, for instance.
-Interchangeable pieces means it would be less complicated to repair. Cracked screen? Why repair the hardware? You can also opt to upgrade one or the other instead of both.
-Wireless interface doesn't need to be a single device. It could be individual devices (if you so desire) that all interface with the same hardware that you keep in your pocket.
-Display to multiple interface systems. Want to share a video with someone? Why share the file or send a link when you can just display it on their interface?
-Increased security: your core device is stored in the core system. The wireless interface (what you use) is just an interface. If you lose it, break it or have it stolen, your core device and all of the information on it would still be kept safe.
Cons:
-Extra piece means extra battery. You'd have to keep both charged.
-Extra piece means extra thing you have to remember to take with you.
-Wireless interface may invite input lag, miscommunication/cross-talk, desync issues.

If they're really going to do a pop-up camera, then the camera should have a physical slide button on the back that you would slide up with one of your fingers - to get rid of the risk of having that electrical motor fail, and then you don't have a front facing camera anymore since under-screen cameras are still a few years off.

Well, for now, since it's still in development, you wouldn't get any reasonable price, even if you COULD buy buy it.
Unless a company lives a lot by their name (most popular example would be Apple), they want to release a product, that's at least somewhat reasonably priced.
I'd guess there will still be like an $800(+) pricetag on it, once released, but that would be normal for a product that brings in some innovations. For a concept like this, I wouldn't be surprised, to see a 2k pricetag for it.
Yes. This is the dream. No bezels. I imagine over time that little pop up camera will get smaller and smaller and quicker too like spring loaded. Then it becomes less of a risk of say accidentally slapping it off. We'll look back and laugh at why we ever considered "the notch" lol
also his comment about how they eventually want the entire screen to be a sensor, well then we can almost entirely remove orientation [except for say the camera] it wouldnt matter which way you picked it up. The ui would auto orient quickly so you can unlock the phone. This gets us closer to a monolith styled slate!!!
I don't understand why they didn't make it spring-loaded. Laptop DVD drives have switched from being motorized to spring-loaded. Wouldn't that be quicker and the absent of a motor can extend the life of the device. You can push it in once you're done with it.
