12:28 i like how it plays the game over theme from the first Megaman game (both as a cheeky joke and a nice nod to how both characters debuted together)
10:47 For some people, that's what's referred to as "Torpedo Tits". Best seen on, as pictured, Aphrodite A, and at least a few notable instances regarding "Fembots" from Austin Powers.
As I said in the community post, this was one I was waiting for. I genuinely like that Roll made it into the Vs games, even though she sucks in MVC1 and 2. She's just that kind of out there character that I love to see, and as a Mega Man fan, it's neat to be able to play as her. I love it when characters use things that aren't meant to be used as weapons like ones too. And her theme making it in is the cherry on top. I honestly really hope she comes back with her TVC moveset. Two other things as well. 1, TVC references Sally the Witch by giving her a rocket broom, but they don't use the Sally the Witch inspired costume? like how do you miss that!? And 2, I'm guessing you're saving talking about the minigames for another time, but I'll mention her's here since I actually remember what is. You basically run through the Gesellschaft (Or however you spell it) mopping up dirty patches of ground, while constantly moving in a top-down view. All while avoiding crates in your way and servbots running along the floor. And that's pretty much all there is to it.
People on Twitter/X went ballistic upon finding out about Roll's numerous panty shots in MVC1/2 (and that supposedly, Inafune was the one who asked for them to be added) I wonder how'd they react upon finding out what Hideki Ishikawa and Toru Nakayama have drawn before both related and not related to Mega Man.
the people angry about that are just projecting their own insecurities, as always. Look back in a year and you'll see a bunch of deleted/suspended accounts and/or arrests, bet yeah it sounds dire for stupid twitter drama but that's ALWAYS how these things end up
@@edfreak9001 Oh I'm very aware how the people screaming the loudest about this sort of stuff are usually the ones with skeletons in their closets. I wouldn't be surprised if in the next few days or weeks some of the people complaining about this will be suspended or arrested.
Usually, the things you have in these videos I already knew since the dawn of light, but there were a lot in this one that I generally did not know. Good job.
I hope Roll will become playable in a new Mega Man game. And I don't mean just as a bonus character like in Powered Up, I want her to be a legitimate part of the team with her own power armor. Also, whenever we might get a new MvC, I think Bass would be a great character to represent the classic series.
Idk why i only just noticed this now after like 20 years, but she is way smaller than Rock in these games, isn't she? In the classic MM series, they're always around the same height lol.
Roll Is a Capcom Character I Mainly I Associate With the onscreen adaption like Nemesis In Resident Evil Apocalypse or Fei Long In Street Fighter 2 V In Roll's case Mega Man (1994-1996)
I am not ashamed to say that Roll is my main in MvC 1 & 2 along with Mega Man (and Tron in MvC 2). If you constantly use her combos without getting hit, her low health will not even matter. Plus you'd be surprised how many projectiles she can avoid due to her small size, especially when crouching. She can easily dodge 1st form Onslaught's super laser of death, at which point I execute a 3 kick combo followed by the ol' Tornado Hold. It also works well against Abyss' 2nd goopy form in MvC 2.
This has been a really great series that you continue to drop consistently quality videos for--that's no small feat; good work! The chances of Roll showing up in a new Capcom Vs game are slow, since Zero seems to be the staple Megaman rep. nowadays, but I hope we can see her in some respect. Maybe cameoing in a Megaman-themed stage? I'd also like to personally ask if you can make a vs character history episode on Spiral at some point, just because she's such a fantastic testament to superb sprite animation. Cheers! ✌️
The Spiral video's definitely coming at some point. Her CoTA incarnation is the best animated character in the series (and arguably all of Capcom's 2D games) and I can't wait to talk about that in detail.
I wish there were more female characters like Roll in fighting games. As much as I like the tomboy or the $€×y gal, it is good to see a female character being girly, cutesy, feminine and sweet One of the reasons why I like SNK with gals like Hinako and Ryoko Izumo 😊
Almost always used Roll as one of my two in Tatsunoko vs Capcom. Huge Mega Man fan and it was also a ton of fun beating up the much larger, and more threatening characters with a tiny child.
I'd rather take her Mega Man Battle Network design any day. Unfortunately, TvC didn't use the most recent versions of Mega Man, Roll, and Zero. I could see all of them but Zero use the Battle Network designs, then Zero with the Zero series design.
You forgot to put the unique victory quotes, Zero has 2, one when she's on opposite team and one when Roll is his teammate, is funny to have a line for Zero where he's on the protective side, she's always fun to play, but sucky in MVC games while in Tatsunoko is the other side of the coin.
Didn't forget about them, it's just that TvC makes even specific winquotes a random occurence and inflates the production time of videos that include TvC. I'll probably stick 'em all in the eventual video that covers the different versions of TvC.
I had a friend that used to playfully give me shit for my NY-ass pronunciation of that, and I started making an effort to try and curb it, but it still slips out every now and then lmao
@@TheSeventhForce Lmfao. One of my good buddies and I used to make fun of each others accents all the time. I would make fun of his NY accent, he would make fun of my UT accent, (the inability to make the T sound if it comes at the end of a word.) Good times.
Roll would've been a great alternative to MegaMan in the Marvel vs. series if she was on par with MegaMan as far as damage, recovery from moves, and agility. It's pretty crazy how she's one of the top tiers in TvC though. Another great video bro. I'm loving this Capcom vs. series.
She's not necessarily _top_ tier in TvC (iirc, the top tier there is Yatterman-1, Tekkaman Blade, and to the surprise of no one, Zero), but she's definitely not bottom tier either. She's closer to the middle of the tier list, but her positive attributes (size, damage potential, etc.) tend to make her a popular counterpick in certain matchups
Where's the norimaro video where you watch ever single video and find out he isn't actually a middleaged man pretending to be a high schooler but actually is an alien?
I was always a little sad she was a bottom tier joke character in mvc/2, but I’m glad she got good in tvc. I remember earlier tvc tier lists gave her joke tier again until people found out that her oki and assist were actually really good and now she’s mid/upper mid on most tierlists and some people play her in tourney. A good glowup. Hope if she comes back she remains good.
I may be alone on this but am I the only one who thinks the Wii is an underrated Nintendo System because games like Tatsunoko vs Capcom prove that there’s much more to that console than just shovelware.
Funny thing about Roll in Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom. Despite being gigantically buffed beyond words from her previous appearances in the Vs games, she is still considered a low tier character, often picked Only for her assist.
About Roll's iconic and beautiful theme, she is telling her feelings towards Rock In the original japanese context, Rock and Roll are NOT ACTUAL siblings They TREAT EACH other like siblings The terrible English translation did its thing by deceiving the fans. Something very common in so many Capcom games in the 90s Just look what they do with the characters from Saturday Night Slam Masters, AKA Muscle Bomber
Hm, interesting, but they can't be biological siblings anyways since they are robots. In this case it doesn't change much, just that it's more their chose to treat each other as siblings rather than it being titles given to them by Light. That does explain why in Legends, Roll is treated as a love interest for Megaman, despite being raised as adopted siblings.
Giving the first vocal theme to a secret joke character is certifiable Capcom love bruh. It feels like they wanted to let you know that, even though she can't fight, we must all love Roll! It's the only vocal theme I can think of on CPS2 hardware, too.
Hopefully before the year is out. That one's going to be a big video since she's in so many games, so I'll have to find a good chunk of time to set aside to work on that one.
I remember back in the day, against friends, in MvC2 my joke team consisted of Servbot, Roll, and either Megaman or Dan, lol! Just to give my friends a fighting chance. They never took a game, haha!
I don't know why Capcom didn't give some development on Roll. Not only in the Capcom vs. games, but in the Megaman games as well. She can do something instead of just being Dr. Light's assistant.
Capcom Fighting Evolution may be a bad game but the idea of an all-Capcom fighting game does have some potential to be great only this time make it more play like a 3 on 3 fighter and have a roster that essentially takes the Marvel vs. Capcom formula and pays extensive homage to Capcom’s entire history of characters.
This some... timing, but I'll take it Also yeeeeeessss, Kaze yo tsutaete my beloved, it means a lot to me the many songs related to the megaman franchise
I Still played wirh her in those other games. I always used everyone in fighting games. But i really liked her. I was always a fan boy 🤔 girl behind her. I was happy she became a playable character in megan man x 7 or x8. The 3nd 3D x game. The one with a lot of hidden characters. They aged her up to a teenager or early 20's. Gid, i think it's her. A blonde woman in red armor. Because all the female robot characters are unlockable too. No joke, i probably just pretended it was her. Because she looked like an other version of her....mmmm i have to reply that game.
I feel like Capcom should do a collection of the handheld odds and ends of the series like the Classic GB games, the Xtreme games and both Powered Up & Maverick Hunter X. Maybe throw in both versions of Megaman & Bass for good measure.
You know what I think would be funny, making Roll playable in the next megaman game, but replace her broom with a saber and make her play more like Zero.
In all games when Roll jump over a character o does a double jump she says "ecchi" and gets embarrassed. It would be fun to have a team made up of Roll, Sakura, Maya, Maria Renard, Kairi and Amy.
Yeah, I saw. I thought about including that tidbit in the video since it's technically development trivia, but I decided people's day would probably be better off for not having that information.
@TheSeventhForce good idea. It already ruined my morning. And I hate to bring this up, but since we're already on the topic of "yuck Roll", isn't it super weird that they made the versions of Roll in the Legends and Battle N. series Megaman's main love interest? Like, even as a kid, I thought, "That's weird, aren't they brother and sister?"
@@sorat5000 The long and short of it is basically, MvC1's lead planner/designer shared a development anecdote on Twitter in response to a tweet about Roll in MvC1 & 2. He stated that whenever they used characters from other divisions at Capcom, they always tried to be respectful and not include or implement anything crude or unfitting. One day during development, Inafune apparently stopped by to check up on how the game was progressing, and they showed him some of the work they finished for Roll. Inafune apparently asked "What, no panty shots?", so they ended up putting them in. I didn't even know they were a thing until the tweet started making the rounds. Seems like a lot of people were in the same boat, too.

Omg roll apreciation! She was litterally my main in tatsnoko vs capcom. I thought it was funny to kill powerful heroes with a broom and water buckets.
haven't started yet but im excited for this episode
12:28 i like how it plays the game over theme from the first Megaman game (both as a cheeky joke and a nice nod to how both characters debuted together)
10:47
For some people, that's what's referred to as "Torpedo Tits".
Yeah, I've got a big video in the pipeline that'll have an overview of the TvC minigames in it, among other things.
The funny thing is that Roll's Mega Man 8 design was inspired by Sally the Witch
@@collaterale1 Yeah... I mentioned that.
Inafune was so based for that
the people angry about that are just projecting their own insecurities, as always. Look back in a year and you'll see a bunch of deleted/suspended accounts and/or arrests, bet
yeah it sounds dire for stupid twitter drama but that's ALWAYS how these things end up
@@edfreak9001 Oh I'm very aware how the people screaming the loudest about this sort of stuff are usually the ones with skeletons in their closets. I wouldn't be surprised if in the next few days or weeks some of the people complaining about this will be suspended or arrested.
@@akiradkcnget help, creep
Usually, the things you have in these videos I already knew since the dawn of light, but there were a lot in this one that I generally did not know.
Good job.
Hell yeah, been looking foward to Roll for a long time!
I hope Roll will become playable in a new Mega Man game. And I don't mean just as a bonus character like in Powered Up, I want her to be a legitimate part of the team with her own power armor. Also, whenever we might get a new MvC, I think Bass would be a great character to represent the classic series.
Maybe it’s just me but Roll’s moveset in TVC reminds me of Isabelle in SSBU.
I remember having a Team in Marvel 2 with Roll, it was a long time ago. Its a joke character, yeah. But we love Roll in this house
This is why I enjoy watching these videos. The amount of times I've played MvC 1 I never once realized Roll was parodying Strider's openings.
Roll was really fun to use on tatsunoko vs Capcom, she was my favorite with Zero
Idk why i only just noticed this now after like 20 years, but she is way smaller than Rock in these games, isn't she? In the classic MM series, they're always around the same height lol.
The original Pichu redemption arc ❤
One thing I never really liked about roll was her idle sprite. Her arms always looked oddly placed
I never thought about it before but yeah, it does look kinda funny, huh?
I was just watching your Megaman Legacy video
Good timing pal and as usual, great video
Her CoTA incarnation is the best animated character in the series (and arguably all of Capcom's 2D games) and I can't wait to talk about that in detail.
part of me wishes that when kicks the soccer ball it would stay bouncing around the screen causing chaos
That's probably how I'd have balanced it, lol
Yoshino Aoki is super cute! 😍
I wish there were more female characters like Roll in fighting games.
As much as I like the tomboy or the $€×y gal, it is good to see a female character being girly, cutesy, feminine and sweet
One of the reasons why I like SNK with gals like Hinako and Ryoko Izumo 😊
Almost always used Roll as one of my two in Tatsunoko vs Capcom. Huge Mega Man fan and it was also a ton of fun beating up the much larger, and more threatening characters with a tiny child.
If Roll-chan were to ever come back, I hope they take more from her appearance from Tatsunoko vs. Capcom
I'd rather take her Mega Man Battle Network design any day. Unfortunately, TvC didn't use the most recent versions of Mega Man, Roll, and Zero. I could see all of them but Zero use the Battle Network designs, then Zero with the Zero series design.
Hey, a New episode is always welcomed. Love this show. Let's get this Mega Man Roll Lore going
Roll is bae!!!!❣️❣️ I will NOT tolerate this blasphemy!!!🤣
I like the way she says her super "Gita" and then the sfx of a super start in MVC1.
My favorite version of Roll is from legends. Roll’s best appearance is tatsunoko 💯% . Great video.
Lol, that New York accent when saying "water." Classic.
Great video. Keep it up.
Interesting timing lol
Excellent coverage on Roll in the versus games! I will admit, it's very scary to think that she's strong enough to burn somebody with a mop!!!😂❤
Roll will always be my main on Tatsunoko and sometimes on MVC2
Did I Forgot To Mention That Roll's Voice Actor In Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Also Does Minori From Senran Kagura?
Where's the norimaro video where you watch ever single video and find out he isn't actually a middleaged man pretending to be a high schooler but actually is an alien?
soon(ish)
I always used Roll in MVC. Her small height gave me some advantages in versus battles.
Let's Rockman and Roll!
I remember using roll to defeat onslaugh because she was so small that most attacks didn't reach.
When i was 10 or 11 i saw someone do the roll code in mvc1 once and i for some reason i still remember how to do it
I don't even play roll lol
About Roll's iconic and beautiful theme, she is telling her feelings towards Rock
In the original japanese context, Rock and Roll are NOT ACTUAL siblings
They TREAT EACH other like siblings
The terrible English translation did its thing by deceiving the fans.
Something very common in so many Capcom games in the 90s
Just look what they do with the characters from Saturday Night Slam Masters, AKA Muscle Bomber
Yeah, 90s Capcom translations can be pretty hit or miss.
@@KeeBlade Unless one of the later CPS2 games has one I'm unaware of yeah, pretty sure it's the only vocal song on the hardware!
I know you're doing Blackheart next, but i am curious as to when you'll be doing a video on Morrigan :)
Fun Fact: Roll’s Voice Actor In TVC Also Does Minori From Senran Kagura.
This some... timing, but I'll take it
Also yeeeeeessss, Kaze yo tsutaete my beloved, it means a lot to me the many songs related to the megaman franchise
Also, Kaze Yo Tsutaete is sick!
If there is ever a new VS game, I hope Roll comes back
Honestly if they ever add roll into a new mvc i hope they make it like her tvc moveset
Her theme is my Jam!
with how much work and content capcom put into Mega Man Powered up, it’s a shame capcom has never ported it to anything really
The little gremlin strikes again
In all games when Roll jump over a character o does a double jump she says "ecchi" and gets embarrassed.
It would be fun to have a team made up of Roll, Sakura, Maya, Maria Renard, Kairi and Amy.
Heck of a coincidence, Roll was trending on twitter recently.
Unfortunately, not for a very good reason.
Yeah, I saw. I thought about including that tidbit in the video since it's technically development trivia, but I decided people's day would probably be better off for not having that information.
I'm out of the loop in regards to Twitter stuff, fortunately, although I am curious what this is about
@TheSeventhForce good idea.
Mega Man I thought it would in brawlhalla
s/o to james for being also a tvc roll goat!
Had to look up their vids to brush up on those Roll relaunches, haha. Same for your Saki tech, incidentally!
waiting lobby for the tron bonne video
Oh nice roll is too shall and weak as hard and music japanese song vary good we need more glow up capcom.
God tied character.
I adore this character, but the TvC version is just so fun forcing the opponent to stay on the ground with her OTG sweep.
It's honestly amazing how many OTG situations you can force with her that can't be easily Mega Crashed out of.
