  • Going around and exploring different foods in Guangzhou is always a lot of fun! But surprising the locals with my Cantonese is way more fun!

It's so refreshing to see a "foreigner" speak fluent canto! Honestly though, you're not really a foreigner if you grew up in China :D I'm a British-born Chinese and I've never really considered myself a foreigner in the UK. But while you're perfectly fluent in 3 languages, I'm only fluent in english and semi-fluent in canto 😅 If my mum saw any of your videos, she'd start berating me (again) about how a white girl can speak chinese better than I can, in true chinese parent fashion 😂

You can also communicate with all the Chinese in Mandarin throughout the whole of Malaysia. Expect to see more shock videos as you look typically European and your Chinese pronunciation are real accurately good.

Now, this is my personal opinion about the food you ate. They are delicious but.....
    The fried wonton is oily.
The pork belly is oily with high cholesterol.
As for fishes being bony, most likely freshwater fishes are bony. Try a saltwater fish. The most common one is steam rock cod. That is one typical Cantonese dish. But rock cod fishes nowadays can be expensive.

Hi! since you're fluent in both, do you prefer Cantonese or Mandarin? Personally i prefer Cantonese because its more like an English accent compare to let say a Scottish accent, the English accent is just cleaner in delivery of the words. I find it harder to comprehend a Scottish accent.

Hey Rachel, I don’t think you should be calling yourself a foreigner really. Nobody should make you feel any less Chinese than anybody else that’s grown up in China and happens to be “full Chinese”. Chinese shouldn’t be a term exclusively used to describe ethnicity or nationality. It can very much be a national identity and I understand that China has rules regarding nationality. I’m view myself as Chinese even though I was born and raised abroad, I went to uni in China and I don’t have your level of fluency in Mandarin Chinese.
I think that you are totally Chinese as much as you are American and German. Please don’t let anyone question whether or not you belong because you do.

If she was born and raised in China, doesn't that effectively make her a native speaker also? I mean unless she went to one of those schools specifically for foreigners where the kids are taught more or less like they would have been in their home countries instead of in Chinese.
