It's so refreshing to see a "foreigner" speak fluent canto! Honestly though, you're not really a foreigner if you grew up in China :D I'm a British-born Chinese and I've never really considered myself a foreigner in the UK. But while you're perfectly fluent in 3 languages, I'm only fluent in english and semi-fluent in canto 😅 If my mum saw any of your videos, she'd start berating me (again) about how a white girl can speak chinese better than I can, in true chinese parent fashion 😂
@@rs-dp6pr er thats probably the reason that she WONT get punched in the face in china, chinese people no matter where they are china, hong kong, uk or america they only pick on other chinese
@@Clinton325i Chinese is much much harder than English. Trust me, I am Chinese and can't match her. Someone who doesn't know Chinese or English can learn English much faster than Chinese.
It's funny the way she speaks Mandarin with the southern Cantonese accent..... just like mine😅 If you listen to her over the phone, you would think she's a Hong Konger.😂
I'm originally from HK but immigrated to the states decades ago. I love how you guys are so American when speaking english but so authentically Hong Kong when you switch to Cantonese. I wished I understood Mandarin, subscribed. 👍
I'm usually a bit skeptical when I see foreigners claim to speak fluent Chinese, but your Chinese is seriously really good! Well done 👏👏👏 Especially since Cantonese can be so hard to get right! Your speaking is also very lovely to listen to in every language 😊
omgggg i soo jelousss!! i can speak english and cantonese but not mandarin! i can listen to mandarin though. I learning right now! this really helped me improve!
Your mandarin and cantonese is perfect. I just came across your channel and I have subscribed. Honestly, your mandarin is better than mine. The dishes you ordered looks yummy. Hope you having a great time with your mum. Looking forward to watch your next vlog. Take care! Cheers from Macau!
Love you both! You’re so fun together and love that bond you both share, how lovely mother and daughter to be able to enjoy the day together restaurant-hopping ❤ and you both are just gorgeous! Thanks for recommending those nice food and places, will have to try it out for sure next time! 多謝妳嘅好介紹,加油呀!⛽️ 👏❤
I can see you are fasinated about the Chinese foods, and enjoy so much! You know Chinese culture better when you bump into the foods we have. I appreciate!
Your Cantonese and Mardarin is real good! Way better than my ABC daughter who is just a teenager. How long have you been learning Cantonese? Come to Hong Kong, and you will find more great food and learn more slang there :)
0:11 she's very authentic and knowledgeable about the Cantonese language to even know to use 登登登凳 as most Hong Kongers use it to surprise or reveal something to someone, a lot of TVB actors use it in dramas too
Wow.. damn.. your Cantonese and Mandarin is super super accurate... Mandrin is native level for sure.. Better than my Mandarin ..Even though I'm Cantonese native in the states..haha. . Respeck.. we know how hard it is to nail both languages perfectly...
I've watched sooo many YT channels with non-chinese speaking Mandarin and Cantonese, and you are by faaar the most fluent and seriously, no accent. Holy moly, I'm impressed 👏
Hope you can visit Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh and make some videos in Malaysia one day. Cantonese are spoken widely on the street and in the local market by the Chinese here. You can also communicate with all the Chinese in Mandarin throughout the whole of Malaysia. Expect to see more shock videos as you look typically European and your Chinese pronunciation are real accurately good.
For a non-Chinese to speak Mandarin is pretty good but speaking good Cantonese is on another level. You are impressive! Now, this is my personal opinion about the food you ate. They are delicious but..... The fried wonton is oily. The pork belly is oily with high cholesterol. As for fishes being bony, most likely freshwater fishes are bony. Try a saltwater fish. The most common one is steam rock cod. That is one typical Cantonese dish. But rock cod fishes nowadays can be expensive.
Hello Rachel, i can see you are a mixture of German, American, Hong Konger & Chinese. I speak pretty much the same languages you speak, plus Portuguese, coz..
I think at GZ at use your most of Cantonese t buy food or many things coz many of them peoples who was loca can speaking Cantonese like as u at Hong Kong saying the Cantonese although have a little different but around of them maybe 80-90% is very similar can communicate
Hi! since you're fluent in both, do you prefer Cantonese or Mandarin? Personally i prefer Cantonese because its more like an English accent compare to let say a Scottish accent, the English accent is just cleaner in delivery of the words. I find it harder to comprehend a Scottish accent.
It is best to pick the meat from the back or toward the tail of the fish for the meat. You pick the meat from the stomach area so will have very little meat and will get rib cage bones of the fish.
First time viewer. I grew up speaking Cantonese and have heard white Americans speaking it. One New York guy in particular who is huge on YT speaks great mandarin but his Cantonese doesn't sound native. Your Canto... surprisingly native sounding. If I close my eyes and listen, could be a Hong Kong girl talking
Hello Rachel, your Engish has Northern American accent, are you from the states origin if you don't mind me asking? Your mother looks so young that she confused me as your twin sister. Your mother is very attractive!
She is amazing because she is Caucasian but speaks fluent English, Mandarin & Dialect Cantonese …. Puts many Asians to shame when some of us cannot even speak mother tongue 👅- simplified Chinese
Hey Rachel, I don’t think you should be calling yourself a foreigner really. Nobody should make you feel any less Chinese than anybody else that’s grown up in China and happens to be “full Chinese”. Chinese shouldn’t be a term exclusively used to describe ethnicity or nationality. It can very much be a national identity and I understand that China has rules regarding nationality. I’m view myself as Chinese even though I was born and raised abroad, I went to uni in China and I don’t have your level of fluency in Mandarin Chinese. I think that you are totally Chinese as much as you are American and German. Please don’t let anyone question whether or not you belong because you do.
Wow how can you speak Mandarin (with a Taiwanese-ish but very native accent) and Cantonese so perfectly at the same time? That beats even most Chinese people out there😂
If she was born and raised in China, doesn't that effectively make her a native speaker also? I mean unless she went to one of those schools specifically for foreigners where the kids are taught more or less like they would have been in their home countries instead of in Chinese.

Not sure what the big deal is. After all, many Asians speak fluent English in America.

You are so perfect in English Mandarin and Cantonese
