This is so so true. My son took Japanese in HS, as a graduation gift we sent him to Japan. He showed us videos of what happened when he was speaking Japanese. They were treating him like he was a star, especially after he said he was from NY. I think people really respect you when you take the time to learn their language and are friendly. This was great to see.

Some people in China like to stay away from cars and take a walk to eat snacks in lively places, so some pedestrian streets have been created. Vehicles are not allowed to enter here. If you drive here, you can only park your car in the parking lot and enter on foot.

Especially if it's Mandarin, one of the hardest languages for a non native speaker to learn. Japanese is easier as it is not as tonal. He is very clever. I love it when my Afrikan people learn to speak that well.

I was in China for a couple weeks, and I was shown nothing but love. I even went to a small village and the people were very friendly and nice. Chinese people in China love black ppl. There’s something about coming to America that turns ppl into racist.

Used to live in Japan and Singapore back in the day and miss the safe and entertaining public spaces where, as you noted, both the elderly and the young can hang out together. Why we can't have these here in the US is a mystery to me.
It used to be you could, but the crime and corruption in many places is sadly now out of control.
Guns and crimes, that's why you can't hang around in public places in the USA

I appreciate you can speak chinese, even im originally from china cant speak mandarin at all, because I was only born in china but raised in the US, even my parents never taught me chinese, hopefully sometime when we meet, you will teach me a little chinese
I’m in the same situation. Born in China, but raised in California since I was 5. Now, I regret not learning Chinese as a kid. Watching videos of western foreigners speaking Chinese is inspiring.
