    Great Video... Was just in BCF and the amount of lure choices is simply mind blowing. Haven't had any luck on some of the hard lures, topwater poppers and Minnows so decided to try soft plastics. Purchased a packet of ST Grubs 2.5" Dirty oil and Watermelon Red Grubs 2.5". with some 2/0 1/8 ounce TT Jig Heads.. Hope I catch something with these. Fingers Crossed :) If all else fails I am going to Preston market and buying FISH!!! lol..

      LOL 2.5 inch grubs are a great starting choice for a variety of species and if ya get stuck even try slim swimz or turtleback worms. Once ya catch a few the confidence levels will grow and its a lot of fun

      @@fishingmad still yet to catch anything, think the fish are avoiding me lately.. Queenscliff no bites, even tried the small pier at Barwon Heads.. Was way too rough, very tidal… ended up catching snags no fish. Will try again down at lagoon pier in Port Melbourne. Maybe third time lucky!!! 🍀 😆👍

    Alan, I'm hoping to convert my old man. On the weekend he got his first land based flatty on plastics at Clifton Springs. I shared this video to him. He was using more than 1/4 Oz in 2m of water with little current....he will figure it out one day haha

    Loved the Video Alan! Ive always been set on using fresh bait, ive used soft plastics and lures a few times but with no success. After seeing this ill give the soft plastics a crack again, i think i was choosing the wrong plastics and jig heads for the application, and fishing them wrong to.

    This video is exactly what I needed to see. Just wondering though, I've been using swivels and snap hooks with my lures to make swapping out lures and jig heads more easier. I'd be keen to know your take on this and if you'd recommend not doing that

    Hey Alan, great content mate! Found this vid at just the right time, as I am currently in the process of moving from bait to soft plastics and kayak fishing. So thanks for that!
    2 questions: I've been leaving a snap swivel on the end of the line so I can quickly swap jigs from bait, soft plastics, hard lure or squid jag at a moments notice. I'm not having much luck at all with soft plastics so far. I see fish following them but not taking them. Do you think the added metal from the swivel attaching to the soft plastic might be adding to the problem? Do I need to tie a fresh knot or swap rods each time I wanna try a different colour plastic or jig?
    The other question pertains to bleeding the salmon on the kayak. What is a safe technique to do this without getting blood into the water and attracting unwanted attention? I'm guessing inside your esky or something? But I don't want to have an esky full of blood and fish at the end of the day. How do you manage? Cheers mate!

    Hi Alan,love the videos. Do you have any advice for fishing grouper with soft plastics? These waters hugely have heavy coral structure.

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much. Grouper love soft plastics. I fished up at the top end a few years ago and caught heaps of grouper and coral trout on soft plastics. Prob just need to go a bit bigger and heavier for some of those awesome species.

    What tips do you have for fishing in heavy current waters. Ie Gold Coast Broadwater. Jumpinpin. Seaway etc.
    what size jig head etc to get to the bottom.

    Would like to catch up when I go to Melbourne jalong As I will be there visiting my brother-in-law The 2nd week of January. If it's possible to catch up. As it's very hard to find South Australian fisherman that do these TH-cam channels so you can learn from them. Especially I would definitely love to learn proper rigging and tying in person. As are really suck setting up my fishing rod.

    So.. The secret is.... Try plastics for longer than 10 minutes before going back to bait.
    That's why i joined the FM club.

    What range are you getting with the electric motor? I've got a bixby and only getting around 9 km which includes assisting it with pedalling. I'd like a bit more range

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  ปีที่แล้ว

      Bixpy 2.0 is a bit faster. I've done on water tests with multiple yaks and different motors at the same time. Watersnakes were the cheapest and slowest, FPV mid speed mid price and Bixpy most expensive and fastest. So prob looks like the speed and features depend on the spend. Thats what i have found so far

    I would have thought switching from bait to "lures" would have been a better title. Marketing has brainwashed people into thinking soft plastics are the best lures, when in reality it's the profit margin that's superior, nothing else.
