Hi Roger, 1st of all thank you so much for this page! I've not long ago turned 30yr old and just got into fishing. I never had anyone to show me the ropes growing up but your channel has really helped me develop my fishing game, beach fishing especially. I do have an idea for a new video that you may or may not be interested in? Could you please do a video on the do's and don’ts of what to do when your line/rig gets caught up in rocks or gets tangled in seaweeds? It's a persistent problem I seem to face and there doesnt seem to be much solid info online. I hope you can help! Thanks again sir!
You're a true legend Roger. I like to surf fish for Australian Salmon in Victoria and have done so for the past 40 years. I love the way you explain your tips and techniques but I have never tried fishing for Salmon with beach worms nor have I ever seen anyone look for them in Victoria! Can you or anyone reading this tell me if we have those massive beach worms in Victoria? Keep up the great work and tight lines 🎣
I have plenty of rods then you go and mention the Shimano Maikuro II Spinning Rod 12ft 5-10kg. Looks great & Looks like I'm getting another rod! Great recommendation Roger.
Love your videos Roger and I have started using a stinger hook and I'm amazed by how many fish that it catches where the 4/0 has missed and also looking forward to your Thai fish cakes recipe keep up the good work
Such bad luck, i've been lucky enough to have experienced the same thing. Same result and i too could only hope to land a fish of a life time. I'll keep at it and im sure you will too.
I always thread crabs on through one of the rear leg joints and out through any side. It seems to stay on longer if the hook is held through the leg/body socket. Thanks for your tips Roger!
Awesome fishing Roger. I love that you are catching salmon close in like that. 98% of my catch is snapper using a drone, but salmond (kahawai) is my favourite as it smokes so well. I would love to look you up when I visit Australia in February next year. I am going to purchase a new rig similar to yours and try your technique at my local beaches.
Kahawai, gut it as soon as landed this increases the quality of the fish for eating. Then she's marinated in lemon juice for half hour.cream, coconut cream, spring onion and tomato make up one of life's true pleasures
That sounds delicious! We have eaten a fair bit of fresh salmon finely sliced in lemon and coriander, but I will have to give your concoction a go. Thanks for sharing 👍🏼
@@RogerOsborneFishing I would say their would be thousands of raw fish recipes through out the world. This one would be a Maori/pacific island type recipe, and very popular in nz
Roger thanks again for all you have taught me, that walking backwards before you set the hook has translated into many more fish caught. I have followed your Beach Rigs closely, however mine seem to get terribly tangled. I don't doubt you or them, so what can be wrong? Please. Dave Sunshine Coast
I bought some soft plastic fake beach worms. I also caught some live beach worms. I fished with the live worms and I was pulling in bream and dart. I switched to the plastic, I was getting back fake bait with bites taken out of it. Switched back to live worms and started pulling in the fish again. I think a lot of lures are made to catch fishermen, not fish.
Guday Roger, I have enjoyed your videos, fishing on the beach. I want to ask why aren't there any boats in the back ground ? Are the beach's where you fish way out in the boonies ? If so do you think that add's to your success's. I have been fishing across the bay from N.Y., at a beach by the name of Sandy Hook, in New Jersey, U.S.A. but haven't been able to catch anything. I have been watching you catch a silver fish that has long spines, is that the same as a porgy in the U.S. ? I am trying to catch Fluke a good eating fish hear, but I haven't been able to get one. Thank You Very Much for your videos, Felix
Hi Roger, really enjoy your videos. Particularly the Aussie Salmon ones. It’s something I’ve never done but want to explore. Looking forward to some more Thai Fishcake recipes! Can you tell us about the shoes you use for beach fishing?
I’m a bit slow on the uptake, I’m watching this and thinking gee this looks like the conditions when I’m fishing at the holiday house and that island to the south looks just like the island I look at and then you swing north and I’m like hey that’s such and such island and realised you are in my fishing hole that I’ve been fishing at for 50 years )
These fish the Australians call salmon are what we call Blues here in the US correct? As always, excellent video your a wonderful teacher! Thanks for all your efforts Roger!
I often use soft plastics, especially worm patterns, the same way as fresh bait. Secret seems to be commercial scent in a tube (S factor?) and circle hooks or shiner hooks.
ok thanks you I can only found the travel one 4 piece from witch website have u bought it please thanks I keep watching your video just love it can't get enough @@RogerOsborneFishing
Hi Roger I love your videos! I've just started out and growing this new found love along with my little kids. Are all your videos filmed down on the Sapphire Coast? What beach fishing can be had during the NSW Winter months?
@@RogerOsborneFishingwe have a holiday house in tabourie, I’m watching this today unaware of where you are fishing but was thinking way further north, as the video progressed I’m thinking gee that looks like my stomping grounds and that looks like brush island and stokes and then the camera swung north and I’m like that’s crampton island where I’ve been fishing for some 50 years ) the southern end fishes well under right conditions also Roger
A mistake I see many younger fishers make, in their effort and excitement to bring in their catch, is that they skull drag the fish with tight drag, no allowance is made for the fish to drag out line and tire themselves out. They are so focused on bringing in their catch that even trying to talk them through the exercise is useless- they don't/can't hear the advice. P.S. I like your videos and your advice is sound. As an old time fisher, I appreciate the knowledge you share with other fishers. There's no sense having knowledge if you don't share it.
Not true salmonoids, just an old name given to an unfamiliar fish in historical times. They fight like small marlin, but have a reputation as being inedible. I can't stand the taste of them. But huge fun to catch.
Roger I've noticed that taking the nippers off the crab seems to lead to good results. When I was kid i used to use small rock crabs for Bream fishing and with the nippers on I'd get no bites as soon as the nippers were off i'd clean up. With groupers and other big fish it doesn't matter, but I've never used crabs on the beach, i usually only use Pillies, worms, squid and cockles. I use a berley spring with home made berley with curry/garlic powder, aniseed oil and a berley bag with old prawn heads and bits from dinners. It brings everything in, unfortunately some undesirable species, but mostly target species
When fishing paddle tales do not keep on jerking the rod up and down. Just wynding and keep changing the speed you retrieve ur lure. When you jerk the rod up and down it makes the lure not act naturally and that's why fish follow the lure and not take it.
I love the sound of the surf too in your videos. Sounds relaxing.
You make beach fishing so easy means you are professional. Legend

Love your videos mate. Where is the BEACH location in NSW or VIC. I asked before however I didn’t receive an answer. Keep up the great videos mate.
Now that was a great day of fishing!👍
Another ripper of a episode Roger
Interesting to see your approach to drag setting. I have always done it that way and have just learnt how to judge just the right amount of drag.

Love the vids roger. Do you use plastic pipe for rod rests👍
Great video thank you,
Is there a reason you don't iki or bleed out the Kahawai?
Learned alot from you
Thanks Peter
Merry Christmas
Same to you!
Hi Roger...do you brain spike or kill the fish when you keep it ? If not, any spesific reason why not (i saw the salmon flapping around)
Roger have you ever tried snapper fishing off the beach we would get about 5snapper per session off the beach here in qld
Sounds interesting James, what part of QLD are you fishing?
Cool
Great video Roger what brand was that soft plastic bait

Thanks for all your efforts Roger!
If U meen blue fish ,no
Question can you use soft plastics like bait fishing and allow the wave action to attract the fish ?
I often use soft plastics, especially worm patterns, the same way as fresh bait. Secret seems to be commercial scent in a tube (S factor?) and circle hooks or shiner hooks.
great channel mate love the long form vids
Hi Roger. What rod were you using for light surf.?
Question what’s the best knot for beach fishing because the knots I used broke off
Just found this channel, interesting... How is wear those sandals in the waves & sand?

Yeah, but he's fishing for a mixed variety of fish. Hard to catch trevally, bream or flathead on Gangs.
