My wife has a 2023 Mercedes Benz GLB250 brand new and she is sitting in my Tank 300 petrol ultra for a few times and she seriously thinks my tank is just if not more comfortable than her GLB. The double glazed glass for the front passengers make the car even quieter than her GLB. It is unbelievable how good Chinese cars are these days and her car is 40k more expensive 😅
Man tank 300 is fantastic! one of the best 4x4 on the market.
imo Chinese are less expensive not because they are lower quality like some think, its because the rest Japanese, European and US car companies are over charging.
I think Chinese cars are well prices. Another example is the Hongqi H6 made of 86% solid metal structure and components (its like $25k) less than the C-class which is made of 48% metal solid structure the rest is plastic 😅 like for example Mercedes use plastic thermostat housing while Hongqi H6 use a metal thermostat housing which last forever. But hey you need to play more for the badge
Completely agree, even though I don't have a Mercedes to compare Tank 300 to, but I do watch a lot of videos from the other creators I trust, and they say the same. Stay tuned for my upcoming review of Tank 300 HEV ultra...
I have the ml 300 diesel, I test drive the 300 and I'm waiting for 500 ml mercedes more comfortable but dot forget the price plus how much I pay for service,
Same experience with my Q5, I am asking myself why I spent so much money on same quality car, just different brand?
@@jzmmmwhich model of BMW did you have ?
The market needs competition, well done.
The market definitely needs competition.
I am placing order for the Ultra Hybrid. Dmitry, your Russian buddy (a harsh judge) rated the Tank 500 as better than the Toyota Land Cruiser 300.
Ultra is more expensive, but still worth the money if you compare to TLK300. I'll reserve final judgment until I sit in and test drive one.
@@ValueCarsAU Some car journos suggest the Ultra Hybrid Drive Away will be around $5K more which is around $72K (although I agree with your estimate of $75K). I can say for sure the Tank 500 will sell like hot cakes at the expense of the Japanese makes that are grossly overpriced for what they are. FYI, I own a 2020 RAV4 hybrid Cruiser which I'll trade in (before 5 year warranty expires) for the BYD Seal U arriving 2H this year.
It's good to see more competition. I don't think the hybrid version is a compelling value offering though. If they can bring in a cheaper turbo diesel of turbo petrol then it may get interesting.
I test drove Hybrid Tank 300 today and will report my thoughts on it soon (which are similar to yours)
Would definitely watch the translated Tank 500 vs 300. Thanks.
Glad to hear you're interested!
Please make it
@@ValueCarsAU me too interested
When do you think we will see the Shanghai and are we getting the sport version with the v6 hybrid?
I haven't been following the news, looks like I have some to catch up on!
Personally, if I were getting another 4x4 next time, I would definitely look at the BYD Leopard 5 plug in hybrid that just started selling in China now. It will be around 60- 70k Australian dollar when it eventually starts selling here but it will be the best solution for Australia coz it is plug in hybrid and it has over 500kw of power with hydraulic suspension to adjust the height of the car. Once it irons out all the quirks in a couple of years. It will be the best solution for long distance driving in here coz it is claimed to run 1200km withe fuel and electric power combined.
I guess car makers are placing their bets and waiting to see how an average "Aussie Aussie Oi-Oi" crowd takes up Hybrid or Electric 4x4 vehicles as a lot speaks against this - even as a concept. Will BYD make their move? No idea what their strategy is and their current grasp of the market is in mid-size city EV. Trying to swing at 4x4 is quite a bet and an investment for them. I probably wouldn't do it, if I'm honest.
but the BYD not sell hEV in Australia
@@ValueCarsAUI guess once Tank HEV starts selling heaps, I reckon they will start coming.
BYD has already rolled out a UTE/Truck/Bucky specially for Australian and overseas markets and that Bucky with Leopard 5 would be a real game changer.
Hi Dimitri, how confident are you that the Tank 500 hi4-t will come to Australia? Will we get that model by the end of the year. Looking to get a bigger car for the family
Not confident at all. 🤣 GWM will be rolling out Tank 400 most likely following Tank 500, but as far as models are concerned - absolutely no idea what they have in mind.
Hi4 T not 7 seaters tho, like a big 5 seaters such as Q8
when will the new pickup be available? cannon alpha
Who knows?
I really look forward to the 500, the only thing is that these cars are not in the market long enough to see their long term reliability. How do you find your Haval? Any issue with use ?
Sold it last year mate, had a good offer for novated lease, so decided to cash out. Zero issues over a year of ownership. I think with Tank we should see their long term presence on the market. But obviously 500 will be a newbie yet again.
Please translate tank 300 vs 500
Thanks for letting me know you're interested
I suppose that rolling out a higher-end product into Australia like the Tank 500 will force GWM to address any remaining quality issues more quickly, so this is good news even for other markets.
This is a good perspective mate, UNLESS GWM sells these vehicles "as-is" like hot cakes, and there isn't any incentive for them to improve the product, since it's in an attractive and competitively priced niche already! Time will tell.
can't wait to get a Tank 500. but frankly, I like Geely more than other Chinese car brands. what a pity can't see any of them in Australia...
and bit worry about this hybrid version which is overseas only, and also it seems like it's not that acceptable in Thailand market.
P.S. really want to see the V6 could come to Australia...
It's a massive shame Geely is not here. I've watched many Russian videos where they praise the quality and generally rate Geely as the top Chinese brand where they are. That says something.
@@ValueCarsAUChery is also rated more highly than GWM Haval. The Tiggo 8 (arriving in Oz in Q2) is a class above the Haval H6 in build, materials and NVH.
Hi Dimitri, love your work mate 👍 i finally test drove the Tank 300 (ultra) yesterday and was blown away with the comfort, style and driving pleasure! Definetely not expecting it to be soooo good. So i'm trading in my 2013 SSV Redline holden to get it!!!
It's rather amazing, especially comparing it to something as old as your 2013 Holden mate. 🤣
@@ValueCarsAU Yes it sure is! It's sad how big brands that have been around for years can charge the way they do for what you get with them. I feel they have peaked though and we will see real competition from Chinese brands in the next year or two and slowly people will wake up and realise that they are being over charged.
So excited to receive our tank 500 soon 😁 it's going to be a great platform for us to develop more parts for and test off road👍
Good video mate 👌
I bet you guys are excited - I would be too! 😎👌
Is a Tank 500 orderable in Australia already? If yes, which engine will come Down Under?
Tank 400 and Tank 700 Hi4 T will be coming soon i reckon. Hi4 T plug in hybrid will be perfect for Australia. Toyota better watch out
I'd say if they are only just about to roll out Tank 500 here in AU, Tank 400 is next and about another year away.
Can you translate a video about LDV Mifa petrol if available, thank you
I'm definitely interested to revisit LDV as I haven't done that for a while...
Would you have bought it if you didn't buy the Outback?
Very likely, yes (it's a little expensive but I'd handle it on a Novated Lease)
Giving this serious thought for my ‘retirement’ car and to replace my old 200 series cruiser. Yeh, it’s not a cruiser, but it’s not the STUPID pricing of one either and I’m more interested in room and comfort than serious off roading.
You are probably the first person who is close to retirement age (I'm assuming, based on what you said) who isn't completely blinded by the HOLY TOYOTA... 😎👌
Do you think Tank 500 is a proper off roader?
Will it match the Prado or MUX off road or will it struggle?
You'll see in the next video. Given the price range, the value is unbeatable. Will it match the leaders 100% - who knows, my guess is no. But it's also half price, so do you own math what's more important to you.
I am a proud owner of Tank 500 in Kazakhstan and it is definitely better than TLC Prado and even TLC 300. It has already been tested with -30 degree temperature in my region and everything is fine. In terms of offroading capabilities, I tried to go somewhere with deep snow conditions and honestly the performance of the car is stunning. I was really impressed.
G'day Dimitri. Good to see your latest video on the Tank 500. That is one good looking car and would certainly wake Toyota and a few other manufacturers up. I look forward to seeing a strip down/review when it becomes available. Your T-shirt looks good. Not sure about the helicopter wearing a T-shirt landing in your back garden though. LOL Take care mate. Cheers from Chris. Sunny Coast. 😂😎👍
Hey Chris always good to hear from you, I hope all is well!
Hi Dimitri@@ValueCarsAU Thanks for your reply. 👍All good here. H6 goes in for repair on the 4th March. Still no further in catching the suspect. The police rang and said they cannot do anything without the registration!! So much for their fantastic Number Plate Recognition program they run. I've given them Centre Management footage of the collision plus two screen captures. I can almost read it without my glasses on. I don't think they can be bothered that it's costing us the insurance excess, plus hire car costs.
Anyway mate, keep up the great channel and take care of yourself. Cheers again, Chris. Sunny Coast. 😎👍
Wonder how well GWM Tank will retail value, be it the 300 or the 500. I’d like to see the 400 come to Australia to slot in between these.
Retail or Retain?
@@ValueCarsAUI guess he meant retain. Depreciation is actually the main question mark I have before pulling the trigger. Am sure it's a great car but people will always see it as a 'cheap' Chinese copy of a LC even if they may actually be better
Tank 500 im excited! Hopefully the price is something under 70K for the ultra
Ultra will be around $75k I'm guessing.
Unless they have a 3.5 tonne towing capacity. I will be giving it a miss. We need the 3.0L engine here. If they stick with 3000T towing capacity, I will be waiting for the Cannon Alpha, or considering the new Triton which will have 3.5T towing capacity.
If towing is important to you, you might as well wait until they come up with a diesel engine 😉
#GWM, Tank 500 needs to be 500HP to start making sense. I would prefer a 1000HP version.
Strange logic but okay
I agree I am really excited to look at it closely as my new car, great review and cool shirt
Me too mate and thanks
Would you like to translate the Tank 400 video from RU?
I'd like to do that yes 🤣
no brand can compete with Toyota. everyone understands that the number of service centers globally you get when buying Toyota gives you that confidence to travel with assurance you can get your fixed where ever you go.
Of course, who would argue with that? Toyota sells 200,000 vehicles a year in AU vs. most other brands hovering around 20-30k mark... But it doesn't cancel the fact that GWM is value for money. Also, please don't conveniently forget that compared to Toyota they are barely just through the door. They are a newcomer. How can you compare something like that with Toyota's spread? So just leave the stupid point and go wait in line for your $150,000 Sahara that will arrive in 5 years.
@@ValueCarsAU hahah In Dubai, I don't have to wait for my new Land cruiser.. I feel sorry for you... In such case.. tank could be your best option.. good luck
Where's the GWM full size pick up truck to rival Ram, Ford and Chevrolet trucks
I join you in asking this question. Shame, no one is listening to us... 🤣
Parts will come when more people buys the products, and Chinese can produce those parts half the price with higher quality! Looks at accessories and parts for different cars products from china!
Higher quality is questionable, because they still cut costs a lot more than many other brands do, but overall I agree - the parts will come the more of these vehicles sell here (and their sales are growing, exponentially)
Pricing for TANK 500 ULTRA is $73990 drive away
Cheap (for what it is)
Personally, I am the most interested in Tank400
Me too.
This is the same way Chinese manufacturers entered the cwllphone market and pushed out legacy makers like motorola and Sony
I have no doubt that with perseverance they will do the same to auto manufacturers, even though the competition is a bit more plentiful and steep.
These new antiquated emission laws that they want to enforce on the working-class might stop it landing here though
I've no idea what you're talking about, can you be more specific?
@ValueCarsAU From the start of next year, they want to enforce sales of cars that meet a certain emission standard ( Euro 6d , so basically your car can't emit more than 200g of C0² per km ) so that means most cars on sale now will fail that standard ( your subaru for instance emits 213g of C0² per km in urban areas ) its the biggest shakeup of the Australian auto industry in decades. It's just that these out of touch elites want everyone to go E.V or *soft* EV ( hybrid )
I guess with this in mind , GWM will do a cost anaysis if its profitable to develop a car that cant be on sale for too long.
I was just at GWM yesterday looking over the tank, going to upgrade from my GWM ute ( which I've had for a couple of years ) , I will have to pull the trigger soon as alot of these cars will not be available in current form.
The 300 seems to have a few technology and build quality glitches to be worked through, especially the HEV, which I assume is the same motor as in the 500 had a delayed launch in Australia as I believe they were and continue to have issues with the software on these vehicles from what I see on the forums.
I'm not a hater, just not ready to pull the trigger on either product until the ELK is fixed, Glue and wax leakages, software glitches and the rear lifting under heavy braking.
The economy is also dismal, so a Diesel would be a great option.
I'm also not immediately sold by HEV option and I don't blame you for wanting to pay a lot of money for an underbaked driver monitoring and ELK. I wouldn't either (until it's properly fixed).
It’s coming at end of March. Looking forward to test drive it.
That's what they said last year about Tank 300. And remember what happened? 😉🤷♀️
Massage should help bum better then tank 300 massage.
If your bum needs help, maybe see a doctor and don't fully rely on a GWM massage feature? Just an idea.
Thank you Dimitri. The ridiculous and dangerous ELK and ACC/ ICC (bend detection) of Haval vehicles. So disappointing and dangerous!
Yes it is and I hope it's not as bad in the new generation of their software in Tanks. Remains to be seen.
So excited to receive our tank 500 soon 😁 it's going to be a great platform for us to develop more parts for and test off road👍
Good video mate 👌
If we compare the Tank 500 v Landcruiser the Tank suffers from the common problem with Chinese vehicles; undersized engine. Sure this will improve efficiency and pollution output but it will severely shorten lifespan. There is nothing lazier than a Landcruiser, that is why they last for ever. A 2 litre Tank 500 will thrash itself to bits, plus you would need to be nuts to tow 3 tonne behind one, the poor little Chinese buzzer would detonate.
When they come out with a blinged up V8 diesel I get one coz they certainly look cool.
Nice job with the pool noodle BTW😁
Hey mate, I agree with you on inferiority of Chinese vehicles on the little bits that will break before Japanese will, and the undersized engine is a fair call... But - especially in this case - the price difference between the new vehicles of comparable size, looks and purpose is *EXORBITANT*. No, Tank 500 is not TLK300, but for many city dwellers it is VERY comparable. Now, get it on a Novated Lease, drive and enjoy for 3-5 years, then forget about it and get a new one. No one cares that it won't last forever in this case. And the wealthy retirees are very welcome to pay $130K and wait 5 years for a TLK300 delivery, I guess! 🤷♀️😉
New land cruiser is V6 twin turbo so they downsizing too, with turbos
Its sad but that engine size is the reality we may well need to adjust to. I'm in the states atm and most of the new model mid size ute's are now 4cyl petrol's with some being hybrid. No one is going to make a new large diesel again now and electric is proving to be average at best off road, lets hope hydrogen or carbon neutral fuels can offer us a better alternative.
You sat in a car n tried to sell it isn't a review...worst review and reviewer ever
What a dumb ass comment. Did you watch the video and what information it relates to? Don't make me block you, just keep clicking for the algorithm, lol...
Tank 500 no question an excellent 4X4 , But the Hi4 T plugin hybrid is my type of car want to buy, hopefully it will come to Australia later
Are you talking about T400? Yes, me too.
@@ValueCarsAU yep, T400 with plug-in hybrid
