In fact, it’s up there with or better than the 1500 full size trucks from the US as well. The payload on the Tank 500 is therefore one of its relative strong points.
That's a good point. It's just worth pointing out given it has a 500kg lower towing capacity and it was called out in the Tank 300 review that we didn't mention it. We'll be including this in all of our reviews moving forward where towing is a factor.
For many many years, the 200/300 series could tow 3500kg, so say 10% on towball, that would leave you only 260/300kg payload remaining which is literally nothing for what most would say is the best and biggest tourer. I am a little confused as none of the other manufacturers seem to mention a payload capacity. Have seen this with LDV, GWM cars. Keen to know why? Does it mean these are poor or honest?
I like the tank 500 in terms of luxury definitely more luxurious than the new Prado the engine is a V6 unlike the Prado 4 cylinders + tank 500 cheaper than the Prado, but what actually stops me is the availability of the spare parts when I need it in future would be available?

I suspect a lot of Chinese brands have done the same thing. Dealerships in Aus weren’t clued up as how to change the mode when preparing the vehicle for sale.
Does it keep telling you to take a break because you keep looking at the camera?
The Asian market definitely loves chrome. I think this would look pretty good in white and all the chrome blacked out including the rims.
Move over Prado. Equivalent Toyota would be $50K more! Even the you would have to option windows
Totally agreed
Well said. Toyota are milking their "loyal" fanbase dry
Haha
🤣
The Chinese are here now to change the status quoa.
how did carsauce get 0-100 under 7s?
Was thinking the same thing , well over 1s difference, seems it all depends on the charge level of that tiny battery
Two males that fist each other as they announce thrust mode, obviously drive harder than a single bloke just doing a vehicle review.
Because safety warning is accurate he need more rest or?
Would be interesting to also get a final fuel usage after u finish your review ( fast driving)of any future car
Any information about the PHEV version of the GWM Tank 500 and whether this will be coming to Australia?
Why you didn't test ultra?with more to show
Wasn’t available when we filmed it but we will try and get one in to test.
Please do
Paul you are porking up....! Brave effort trying to get into the back row.! LOL
I tested mine ultra 0-100 in 7.3s with both original giti types and aftermarket Falken AT3w
What about when the battery is drained?
hows falken at3w? thinking get those for my tank300, what about noise?
@@TheMarkdogface the minimum battery level I saw is about 40% . I don’t feel a lot of difference tbh
@@lovenaomiwu noise wise pretty good. I changed my tank 300’s tyre to falken as well before I traded for the 500
The new Alpha I test drive the other day had a "one Button" option to switch off all driver monitoring. Not sure if this is an update and available on the Tank 500 as well?
9.5/10 such a great vehicle for the money! Great work bud :)
Please redo 0-100, there was launch mode error. Two runs with battery at 80% and 30%
Why half cook midium rare it🤷🏼♂️
when's the dmax review coming out
I am a little confused as none of the other manufacturers seem to mention a payload capacity. Have seen this with LDV, GWM cars. Keen to know why? Does it mean these are poor or honest?
Golden rule of selling something..... Never lie. Just don't mention shortcomings.
Ok so the Ultra has self retracting/automatic side steps. Why to test ultra, $72k drive away that what should’ve been on test
Wasn’t available when we filmed it but we will try and get one in to test.
Great video. Please review new gle and x5
What was the clunking under breaking?
I'm sold ❤
I like the tank 500 in terms of luxury definitely more luxurious than the new Prado the engine is a V6 unlike the Prado 4 cylinders + tank 500 cheaper than the Prado, but what actually stops me is the availability of the spare parts when I need it in future would be available?
Of course not and resale value is very low
Why do I need to care about resale value? If you purchase a vehicle, you buy it for yourself, not the next user. I didn't say the tank is better than the Prado. My point is that you get what you pay for.
I think we need a shorter person to start testing the 3rd row. Paul is properly suffering in the 3rd row. 😂
😅😅😅
I'm really impressed by this price in AUD, this is the few cars that basicly has the same price in China. I wound't buy if the price diff is too much.
I'd buy this , I love it......I actually love different stuff from everybody,
Impressive Package. Would put it on the consider list if I was in the market for a offroad capable family hauler.
That 10 speaker sound system sounds interesting..
The warning on the dash sounds like its limited by the transmission after your first launch control. Not a worry for that, but I wonder how well it will last with constant towing.
He had it in offroad expert mode, so the centre diff was probably locked.
