You guys are childish, doing a great job and reviewing DAMN CARS and not COUNTRIES. I love that you are not biased like many reviewers who focus more on the country and not fairly reviewing the CAR for the consumer and THAT IS GREAT for us viewers. Keep it up. All the way from South Africa.
I'm also South African. I love their channel.
I think we're getting this car in the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2024, If I'm not mistaken. So far I've driven the P Series, the double cab bakkie of this car and I had mostly a positive experience. From watching the review. It seems like GWM have improved from the P Series on more levels than one. I think the Tank 500 is brilliant!!
@@JaydenAndrewsTech i have a friend with the P-Series and I really thought it ws value for money. I think ill be getting this Tank 500 when we get it🤫. If its sub R1mil for that top spec
Well said
Australia allowing international manufacturers to legitimately compete in our market is so good for the consumer. Can't take it for granted.
All car manufacturers that trade in Australia are international
Account name sounds suspiciously botty. Wonder who it could be?
Unfortunately, this competition only rewards cheap products rather than technically better ones.
I feel the same as a South African. Chery has pulled through for us with their Tiggo SUVs. They are reasonably priced and come with a load of features added as standard. Features that those German guys would make you pay double the price of the car just to have them. These Asian cars also have good build quality.
We have a Tiggo 8 Pro at home. Going towards it's third year of ownership. It's treated us well so far and no issues. Just regular maintenance and you have no stress. The ride quality is also comparable with Mid range German cars.
My only complaint is that the breaking could be smoother and suspension softer but it's a good daily overall.
@@acde9355 There's cheap then there's affordable. I'd argue that cars like this GWM and the other Asian brands are affordable. They have good build quality too. Not Toyota indestructible but they won't break as easily. They're comparable to the germans. As long as you maintain them. They'll generally treat you good.
The Chinese brands have also "swept in" to Brazil, bringing fair-priced technology, competition (which is great for the market), and compelling traditional automakers to offer better products and lower prices. Cheers from Brazil!
The toughest car reviewer in Russia (disassembled the Tank 500) says the Tank handles much better than the Landcruiser 300. Another Russian car journo rated the back seat comfort as industry best, better than Lexus LX and Range Rover. This car cost more than AUD $100K in Russia especially so since Black ones appeared in Putin's motorcade.
Actually, many of China's automotive media have a rather negative evaluation of this car's hybrid system calibration. They feel that the car's power response is somewhat poor, significantly inferior to the Tank 700
@@derekhung7642 I think China only has the PHEV Tank 500 and not the HEV.
But the third row is crap compared to 300 or other large SUV’s.
diffrent price as well
@@derekhung7642Comparing it to the Tank 700 is unfair, Tank 700 is an off-road monster. Tank 500 is more inclined to luxury
There was a time Japanese vehicles were considered a joke too. The Chinese are coming good quick, for those hating on Chinese cars you will eat your words soon
And Korean cars. I guess it’s just easier to hate Chinese than to give new product a shot or to learn history. (Not saying this car is great because it’s not available in my country so far)
中国在售有很多比tank 500更便宜更好的车,不过没有出口计划。
Newsflash, chinese and korean cars are still garbage.
@jacobandeche588 Have been saying this for years, but they won't really do better than the Japanese, in the long term, and that's the one that counts. Copying doesn't really work - look up Tupolev TU 144 to see what happens when engineers don't truly understand what they need to get to. But overall, yes, Chinese cars will eventually be real players in the market. In fact, they are already are, but when the whole economy underpinning your factory is a ticking time bomb, don't be disappointed when the whole circus tent comes crashing down - although for many buyers this won't be a consideration...
For the price and what you get, it is honestly a really compelling package. It will absolutely steal sales away from other brands. Not only does it compete with vehicles in this segment, but it is also priced similarly to offerings in other segments like a Kia Carnival, Toyota Granvia, Mazda CX9/90 or Hyundai Staria. Many people have been priced out of the premium large 4WD segment, and now this Tank 500 significantly undercuts the price bracket of those vehicles. People will cross-shop and realise they can have a powerful, capable and feature-packed 4WD for the same price or LESS than the options they were first considering.
Look at the sales success of the Tank 300 - a sign of things to come.
i agree
100 percent agree
Yeah until you need to order critical spare parts. If they get that right then I'm buying. For now I'll be watching from the sidelines
People harp on that this beats Toyota, but it beats every other SUV 4wd brand too. The only thing I don't like is the barn door. But, this is a luxury beast, and I'd love to own one.
Finally an off road capable car with a good luxury interior. All the other competitors have plasticy rugged interiors because it's an "off roader". But I think the Chinese knocked out of the park with this one deciding to give an off-road vehicle luxury which is extremely contradicting to conventional concepts
Bloody hell 2.92s 0-60 is the real highlight and even so just under 7 seconds 0-100 isnt to bad at all im quite impressed.
isn't that good either
@@fredrce I mean for what it costs and the class being an suv/4wd it's not to shabby at all it competition is of the likes of Toyota prado and everest.
the Tank logo looks like a miniamlist transformers logo
😂I'm just now noticing that. That's a cool little detail
At the beginning I thought it was a Ram badge…

My wife just got the H6GT 2024 and it's been fantastic..I might need to get the Tank 😅
They are almost ready to launch the Tank 800 that will be even crazier than this
Xiaomi car next please, Daddy
Or perhaps NIO.
Xiaomi Su7 just launched with 73.6kwh 700km range version at 215900 CNY which is less than 46K AUD. If China let loose this thing, it's gonna slaughter the EV scene
its probably Chinese prices not western ones!! @@kirovfactory
quite impossible, Xiaomi may need another 2-3 years to build a right-hand car production line.
It’s out for sale as of this moment
Anyone who test drives the Tank 500 will end up buying one on the spot. Many are attracted to the looks alone. This ultra trim is a very luxurious and yet very capable off roader for an insane price with 7 year warranty. An Audi 50 TFSI will depreciate more in 3 years than the Tank 500 sticker price. Yep, I will be buying one "without" a test drive. No need 😊
Test drove one today and wowww ! Effortless driving with that hybrid system sometimes reviews don't do the car justice you have to drive it yourself !
tank 500 in Australia has more equipment than China version, and the price is the sameso really good bargain in Australia.
I hope GWM bring the PHEV to Australia. Most Australians who would buy a vehicle like this also have a garage where they can plug-in.
Yeah mate.....
coming, but unsure when.
Was thinking exactly the same thing - need a PHEV
If that is the case. I think the Outlander is no longer favourite PHEV 7 seats SUV to buy in Australia.
i was waiting for a CARSAUCE tank review and glad i found it , how your review fits my personality haha, if i buy it will be because you did a good short review, though if they offer you guys an offroad opportunity, please do make one . cheers

Lazy Toyota have some competition!
Nope. This thing will likey be lucky to see a fifth of the life span of a Cruiser. Cheaty shortcutting copy.
@@brentsaddressbuddy Toyota is yesterday’s crap… overpriced crap only Aussies love
@@brentsaddressyou have no way of knowing that. Toyota is the Kodak of our age and nobody in this country can see it yet through those rose coloured glasses and horsey blinders to other manufacturers.
@@JoshuaMcTackett look, I can understand people want to believe something more affordable is somehow also going to be better, but there is no evidence of this. The Japanese culture of quality and improvement is completely lacking at Great Wall. Dunno how, but I got added to a GW owners FB group. What a laugh - definitely not the sad existence I would want to lead having thrown down $75k, but I guess the confirmation bias is strong in some.
@@brentsaddressThat Japan culture you speak so highly of has been dead for more than 30 years. Today, Japanese quality is more often achieved through fabricating test data than making actual improvements to products.
Great review but I’m a bit confused by the front grill, it is different between the one showing on the website.Do you have any idea which one will come or we can have different options.
Fair review! Informative and entertaining to watch. Keep up the good job guys.

0-100 for just 6.95 secs?????? that's bloody faster than my 2.5L NA mazda 3 did😨
Same as Mazda 6 turbo
Not faster, but a lot faster.
The Tank 700 is faster, 0-60 takes 5.6 seconds, in China there is another car with the same positioning called yangwang, 3.5 tons, 0-60 takes 3+ seconds

7 years unlimited km warranty , 7 years road side assist with 7 years capped price servicing .WITH 8 YEARS BATTERY WARRANTY!? Very hard to say no to this car when it comes with that peace of mind .😮
you guys are hilarious ... such good content
Love your unbiased review! Would love to see how the consumers react when GWM finally bring the PHEV version of the Tank 500 to Australia.
Tank actually spun off from GWM's premium brand Wey, beginning with the Tank 300, and on the Tank 500 you can really tell! It's not ultra-luxury or anything but it does punch well above its weight.
Although I'm not sure that's actually real wood. But I haven't seen one in person.
Bring on the Tank 400 Australia please! Then we will have the complete options against all other manufacturers.
In China, these tanks have been widely used for many years in the Xizang Plateau, the roof of the world, and in the deserts of Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia. The quality of this tank brand is absolutely reliable!
Is that a recovery hook or a tie down point? Dangerous to say it’s recovery if it’s not
@CarSauce , thanks guys for this amazing review. It looks crazy from inside, very posh and grand. I hope this car lives up to the same standard after 5 to 10 years of drive.
I believe the cabin is quieter compared to other competitors in the market. Do you think cabin would still be quite on Victorian freeways?

Whats the biggest tyre the spare wheel carrier can hold?
Love ❤ your work boys. Greek Tank 300 HEV Ultra Boy 😊😅
How do you find the onroad driving compare with ford everest wildtrack?
The GOOD:
- Barn door is great for anyone who does offroad and touring. -
- Access to spare is far superior than the new incoming Prado and LC300.
- Nice power output, but its a PHEV so what else would you expect. What is the economy?
- Price
- 18"Tyres - Great for Offroad.
- Leather Seats and cooling/heat.
- Versatile - Its an oversize Prado. Great capacity to carry extra kids and/or gear in 3rd row.
The BAD:
- No diesel option
- No 12v in rear cabin for fridges etc.
- GVM only 3000kg!
- Tyres. Looks like you'll be up for a new set to put on the car.
The UGLY
- Front Grill
The UNKNOWN
- Quality. Not impressed that rattles occurring after one offroad trip.
- Electronics seems fun but perhaps overcomplicated. Most people will find the modes suited for them and leave it.
- Aftermarket capability? Cargo Barrier would be great for times when touring with 5 people. Bull Bar and Spot Lights?
things good about Chinese cars are that you got shit loads of aftermarket accessories and they are so affordable. You just need to know where to look.
Can you fit a larger All Terrain tyre in the spare wheel carrier?
Without the cover I reckon just like you would a prado
this is the most honest car review in the world! no censored on the language...I love it.. the SUV is sick...I bought a Chinese car 10 years ago and it is shit with a shitty after-sale service..but this SUV doesn't feel like it was made in China..so unreal.

man, ten years! we chinese don’t like chinese car either 10 years ago. but guess what, last five years, chinese cars sold are very well in china now, better than japanese car in china. all changed 😂
what do you think when comparing this vs ford everest?
Interesting GWM under-claimed the fuel economy but over--claimed the 0-100 acceleration. The 300kw 750Nm Hi4T version in China claimed 6.9 seconds 0-100. I wonder what the real time would be.
Wonderful channel CAR SOUCE. Thanks for brilliant coverage 👏
Very exciting 😀
Chinese are much above the rest and offer value for money. However, for genuine distributors parts wouldn't be a problem.
In Africa old model Landover and Toyota parts with technicians could not be an issue.
Quality of Rubber bushes and shock absorbers , suspension, filters, fan belts, etc hopefully is good as also Arabs loved these.
Another car Jetour traveller is brilliant from Cherry Automobile China.
What will it cost to replace the headlight cluster?
Few things:
1- That was a strap down point (for transporting the car) as far as I know, not a rated recovery point.
2- That side step would be troublesome while offroading.
3- Hopefully the quality of other parts are better than tyres, because you need everything to work while offroading/ over landing in the in the middle of no where.
yeah i like it a lot. a dual cab be nice to see ,.. and the handling needs to be sorted b4 i would buy
So I’m pretty sure the recovery hook you pointed out is a tow hook. Big difference
just to add as i havent seen any reviewer mention it, if your using apple car play with apple maps it can be seen in the instrument cluster in 4inch window as the "map view" which is only just making its way to euro brands.
It's also launched in Pakistan. Where Toyota Land Cruiser & Prado are extremely popular. Well i think Toyota might have some competition from GWM. The only thing that could save them could be reliability. Which only time will tell.
and spare parts availability, seriously we had a fleet of gwm ldv and great walls. everytime they broke it was up to a month off the road waiting.
Funny video. One shot you have a white shirt on then the next a grey jumper. Lol.
Keeping Toyota honest.
That barn door... You complain that it can't open far if you are backed up to a wall. How far can the upward opening door open?
That rear looks like the Patrol Y61s famous in UAE
I guess the only negative is that there won’t be anything available from aftermarket manufacturers yet. Roof racks, bullbars, side steps, tow bar etc, etc. Otherwise I really like it and I’m seriously considering getting one!
i am chinese. this is the big problem now. just need time. i don’t need pay a lot of attention on quality, safety at all but just what u said. it’s the problem now, still need time.

Toyota needs to overhaul the J300's dashboard setup.
* Larger center dispaly/infotainment display, with superior software, please make it as clean and user-friendly as Tesla's center display.
* Move the gearshifter somewhere else to cleanup the center console area, clean it up, better storage space, better usability, not cramped. Study a thing or two about LR Defender's center stack/center console setup.
** Gearshifter on the dash like a Defender, or like a Toyota's own HIACE! Or on the column kinda like Ioniq 5. Or a gear stalk on the column like Tesla Model Y / VW ID Buzz / or whatever ...

All these years ripped off consumers with high prices. Now it's time to face competition. Ssangyong & GWM really do it.
