@@kimchirice3664 but that rule is flawed. Most apprentices would either assassinate or team up with their own apprentices to take down their current master, and in turn masters would kill their apprentices before they grew strong enough to become a threat to them. Something that always makes me think, is that sith masters always WANT their apprentice to over throw them, bane was AFRAID zannah wouldnt overthrow him, and sidious was pleased with vaders deception, the sith think beyond themselves, and understand that the strongest needs to be the strongest. Except Darth Plagious the Wise, but thats not a story the jedi would tell you
You see grevious body was nearly gone completely all he had was a few of his organs so it wasn't really a suit more of a new body but vader still had his head torso and stumps from his body so his suit had prosthetics limbs connected to his stumps making his movement harder and if he was to become a full cyborg like grevious he would lose his connection to the force
@@obsidianwarrior5580 Yeah, but in other lore it's pretty clear that sidious made Vaders suit crappy because he wanted to punish him, and possibly hold him back in case he ever tried to overthrow him. And don't you think that if he could make a cluster of organs into a killing machine, he'd be able to make Vader into a god? (With better cybernetics, not turning him into a droid).
Part of it was as punishment for failing as an apprentice in Palatines eyes. Another part was keeping him weak enough so that he couldn't overthrow him. Eventually the Emperor did offer him a better suit, one that would eliminate his pain and remove the restrictions on his movements. Vader denied the offer, saying the constant pain and restrictions made his hate (and his connection to the dark side) stronger. The Emperor was not pleased with this however, but didn't push the argument further.
@@austinchandler3079 pretty sure that isn't the case anymore since in rogue one its been confirmed he is in a different suit from his suit in a new hope and we have seen him not wearing a suit at all in the bacta tank so we can presume that he takes off the suit regularly
I know this is a little weird to say, but I've always found the Sith philosophy on 'the rule of two' to be kind of...sweet? Whenever a Sith lord is overthrown or betrayed by their apprentice, they almost always express this profound sense of pride in their student. I suppose that they find comfort in the thought of having raised an even stronger lord than those that came before. The Sith are known for their arrogance, but when their time is up, they tend to adopt a surprising kind of pragmatic humility. In this way, they achieve their own kind of 'immortality' through their direct lineage. From a writing perspective, it gives the dark side a surprising degree of humanity without diminishing their villainy and I always love to see little moments like that in this franchise.
Went like this: "Let's get down to business, to defeat Rebels Did they send a Jedi, when I asked for Sith? You're the sandiest bunch I ever met But you can bet before we're through Mister, I'll make a Sith out of you Tranquil as a Bantha but on fire within Once you find your anger, you are sure to win You're a legless, pale, pathetic robot And you haven't got a clue Somehow I'll make a Sith out of you [I'm never gonna fix my breath Say goodbye to those who trained me Boy, was I a fool in school for cutting high ground This guy's got 'em shocked to death Hope he doesn't see light through me Now I wish that I knew how to do lightning] Be a Sith You must be swift as a Boonta pod racer Be a Sith With all the force of the great Exar Kun Be a Sith With all the strength of Mustafar fire Mysterious as the dark side of what is no moooooooon"

@@austinkersey2445 Rouge One was pretty good though. Those Vader scenes were done really respectfully. With anything Star Wars related now, it's just a coin flip if it'll be good or not lol. But I'm not gonna say it'll all be bad.
"We Will rule the galaxy as father and son" That is really tempting to hear, and I think most people would take that offer. To be in a position of power with your new father at your side who actually wants you to be with him. Who would never betray you. Vader found a better purpose in life in Luke. It's why I love star wars to begin with, that level of character depth and drama that is not too over the top. I think the prequels did well to flesh out anakins character as well. George had anakin have a constant fear of losing his loved ones... and when he lost everything during order 66, he was a complete broken mess and a shadow of his former self until Luke came along to give what he thought was a second chance to have a loving connection again. To gain back what he tragically lost through Luke and even Leia (Vader was definitely going to go after her as well if Luke turned). Disney pretty much made vaders existence and redemption and Luke's accomplishments pretty much pointless with the sequel trilogy. It's so sad how Disney just treats the franchise like a cash cow and platform for crazed sjws who most likely never cared for star wars in the first place. I met so many liberals in college who never even seen the movies or understand the love for it... so that says something. No appreciation for good storytelling and lack of care for the fans is where Disney lucasfilm is at in this age.
You know I've always had the vague suspicion that palpatine (deep down) actually cared for Vader. I remember watching the scene in Episode 3 where Anakin is face down in the dirt on Mustafar missing most limbs, and palpatine shows up and is asked what he would like done with him by a subordinate. Palpatine almost looks distraught for a second and then commands them to give him medical attention. I think palpatine isn't as psychopathic as people believe he is. After all the dark side is the emotional side, and that means all emotions including sympathy.
It’s actually ironic because being a Jedi can turn you into a psychopath (devoid of empathy and proper human emotion) while being a sith can turn you into a sociopath (unable to regulate emotions)
Hes pure evil but he cares about vader to a degree. He’s an ass to vader alot but he kinda has to be. Vaders mind isnt in the right place for most of their reign.

That said, its too bad that vader would have turned from the dark side had he did.. Also yes i know somehow Sidious somehow survives.. but I still dont consider the disney canon to be canon (just like apparently many people)
The strength of the Rule of 2 is that it forces a Master to always keep growing stronger, to always be on guard, to NEVER become lax. And that in turn makes the Apprentice grow stronger, thus breading stronger sith> Palpatine's mistake, ironically, was the same mistake Mace Windu made. Windu stated in the novelization that he had been so focused on Palpatine he had forgotten about Anakin, not noticing til it was too late his 'shatterpoint'. The same with Palpatine. He was so focused on Luke... he forgot about Vader. And how Vader was born out of Anakin's love. And so too would that be how Vader died.
The Sith practiced meritocracy (strength, power intellect to earn what you recieve), the jedi practiced nepotism (get rank and "respect" through who you know, not by your talents and merits).

I think Vader was not punished by Palpatine because of two reasons. A) Vader was the emperor's apprentice and tool and the better Vader became at the Sith ways, so much the the better for the Emperor. B) Palpatine was totally secure in his power and never believed Vader could defeat him.
Starscream: "So, how'd your insurrection go?" Vader: "Apparently Palpatine is...proud of me? How about yours?" Starscream: "Amazing! My coronation ceremony is tomorrow! You think Megatron would be proud of me, too?" Vader: "Probably."
Though it's possible the pride in Vader making his own Empire behind his back could simply be false to keep Vader appeased, I think it's likely that it's all genuine. In Legends Sidious did intend to teach Vader everything he knew, to then have Vader take over the mantle of master when the time came. Then Mustafar happened, and he was limited by his mindset and physical abilities ever since. So assuming they did take some inspiration from legends, this is likely Sidious being genuinely pleased with the steps Vader is taking to bring about his own rule over the Empire. Vader is finally showing more ambition and cunning, along with his merciless strength. This likely overjoyed Sidious, as his perfect apprentice was finally starting to properly shine.
I know people have covered this line numerous times, but I really like how Sidious refers to Maul and Dooku. Referring to Maul as a loss but Dooku as a tool shows how even now he compared them. This is canon so we know Sidious must know about Maul's exploits with Crimson Dawn in the early empire and was still around and kicking, probably somewhat proud of his old apprentice. And unlike how in the Clone Wars where Maul was interferring with Sidious's plan, Crimson Dawn was in their own thing out of the Empire's way so I wouldn't see why Sidious wouldn't just allow it but also to have Inquisitor's on the hunt just in case.
Yes Palpatine is an extremely Dionysostic person. Having fun yet spreading terror without considering anybody at all expect for aristocratic or powerful ones who are worth to kill or be guided like Jedis and Vader. He is obsessed with ruling things, have a special degree of understanding and manipulating people. Encourage both himself and the other in his way, secretly, with a pretty mutually satisfying, twisted dictation. If Nietzsche is alive, probably he attacks on George Lucas by defining him "Christian" or "slave" morality advocater; by showing "ubermensch" Palpatine as evil... For Nietzsche, the notion of evil is a slave invention and differs from "bad". He does not believe in objective morality neither he does not believe in a never changed, bold reality of "good" or "light". Everthing is relative, depends on person.
A Dionyostic person is also a bit crazy just as Dionysos himself, full with passion, desire or ambition which all defines Palpatine. He is crazy ass maniac and considerably genius.
Nietzsche however does not want to people become actual monster like Palpy he wanted to them discover their animalistic, monstrious side within their very nature in order to find out their true potential, to for making it real. With this humans can create life energy to achive things.

Vader didn't deserve that. But it's a well-made speech, Palpatine has real talent in that. If you don't mind me asking, what is more interesting to make videos about, Legends or Canon? And, if both Legends and Canon could exist in one universe, how do you think would that go/work?

@@AncientSavant7572 I mean… did he though? Yeah the dudes a tyrant but the galaxy technically did prosper under his rule and there was at least peace in some form.
I mean yeah you could call the systemic eradication of the Jedi evil but one could argue that the Jedi themselves are evil.
And I’m aware of him killing his parents as well but the dude was a good politician in the end. This is all imo of course and shouldn’t be taken as a fact.
Something that always makes me think, is that sith masters always WANT their apprentice to over throw them, bane was AFRAID zannah wouldnt overthrow him, and sidious was pleased with vaders deception, the sith think beyond themselves, and understand that the strongest needs to be the strongest.
Except Darth Plagious the Wise, but thats not a story the jedi would tell you
Did Vader ever wonder or question why his suit was inferior to grievous'
@@dylanmorris7946 It was also a risky medical procedure that could've led to Vader's death. That was also a big factor as to why he turned it down.
@@austinchandler3079 pretty sure that isn't the case anymore since in rogue one its been confirmed he is in a different suit from his suit in a new hope and we have seen him not wearing a suit at all in the bacta tank so we can presume that he takes off the suit regularly
Palpatine is the dad Anakin never had
Actually, he is the dad Anakin always had. There's a canon comic where it's revealed that Palpatine manipulated the force to create Anakin.
@@levis.sutton542 yeah I've heard that too
Palpatine fucked schmi in the butpussy!!!
Because he's literally his dad
Levi S. Sutton it was misleading, writers said it themselves that palpatine didn’t make anakin
One can learn a thing or two from the Emperor, a lesson that will stay within your mind forever.

And you haven't got a clue
Somehow I'll make a Sith out of you

@@austinkersey2445 Rouge One was pretty good though. Those Vader scenes were done really respectfully. With anything Star Wars related now, it's just a coin flip if it'll be good or not lol. But I'm not gonna say it'll all be bad.
@@Deadflower20xx Rogue One was alright. It's just that it's been overshadowed by the rest of Disney's mediocrity.
@@austinkersey2445 Have you not read the Maul comics?
I would have liked to see Luke ask Vader about Padme, and see them have a real moment with each other. But the end of return of the Jedi is good too.
That would have ignited rage and sorrow and turned annakin back to the dark side
"We Will rule the galaxy as father and son"
That is really tempting to hear, and I think most people would take that offer.
However little he cared about Vader, it couldn’t possibly be less than how much the Jedi cared about Anikan, except Ahsoka and maybe Obi-Wan
Hes pure evil but he cares about vader to a degree. He’s an ass to vader alot but he kinda has to be. Vaders mind isnt in the right place for most of their reign.
@@LeeLonnieLoveHe's pure evil but cares about Vader? That's contradictory.
He was an abusive parent to Anakin. Despite all of the toxicity and evil, Palpatine did care a bit about Vader in his own twisted and vile way.

I like to think that Sideous was, while angered, was also ever so proud of his apprentice for overthrowing him. If only vader hadnt of died immediately after.
And that in turn makes the Apprentice grow stronger, thus breading stronger sith>
Palpatine's mistake, ironically, was the same mistake Mace Windu made.

Great video and that is awesome that Sidous give speechs to Vader
Legends or "canon," any comics pertaining to Vader are just awesome.
I think Vader was not punished by Palpatine because of two reasons.
A) Vader was the emperor's apprentice and tool and the better Vader became at the Sith ways, so much the the better for the Emperor.
B) Palpatine was totally secure in his power and never believed Vader could defeat him.
A twisted moment of heartwarming, but a welcome one.
Everybody gangsta until the dark lord starts giving inspirational speeches
Palpatine: You wanted me dead? Excellent you’re a true sith!
Vader: Da fuck
Starscream: "So, how'd your insurrection go?"
Vader: "Apparently Palpatine is...proud of me? How about yours?"
Starscream: "Amazing! My coronation ceremony is tomorrow! You think Megatron would be proud of me, too?"
Vader: "Probably."
I can imagine Vader being extremely confused that Palpatine was happy that Vader was trying to overthrow him. XD
But seriously, How do you think Vader felt when Palpatine heaped that praise onto Vader? Anyone thinking of the Zoldyck family from HunterxHunter?
It's true, never underestimate anyone or anything, always be cautious...👌🏼💯✔
Palpatine is Nietzsche's master morality to the extreme. A true Sith.
Good correlation
Unlimited poooowwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!
Palpatine is like those fathers who always tell their children that they suck at everything and then when the children succeed by working hard, the fathers are proud and encourage them.
Imagine if they created an animated series off this. Similar to Spawn the animated series. It would be amazing.
