Pity him lah. First time experience - virginal. The questions were direct only when the panel wanted to nail him. Other than that, the questions were often meandering, twisting and turning and repetitive either to confound him or to catch him unwittingly saying something different - in the interest of clarity or unambiguity. Of course, he has to be reminded now and then that he is speaking under oath and it's an offence and punishable for not telling the truth. That will surely put fear into anyone facing the panel. Let's wait for the Singh to appear and see how he perform - surely the panel will leave it as the grand finale - the ultimate nail.

A layman reader's observation and thoughts : Lawyers or inquisitors seem to be trained to repeat questions or same thing again and again, and yet again, in different words or nuances in quick succession --- in other words to beat about the bush or opportunistic trolling - so that something may turn up eventually or opportunistically! And of course to paraphase or reword what has been said to the inquisitor's satisfaction (you mean, it was not pure white but a little off-white, isn't it?). It can easily confound the witness or interviewee - and most exasperating to the most patient audience watching in the court gallery, or the CoP in this case. The witness can easily get tired or "caught" unwittingly swaying into something different.
A shrewd lawyer easily latch on it, and keeping hammering on it. So other than asking "when did you stop beating your wife?" rather than "did you beat your wife?'. It may go something like this : Did you drink the water? (No!). Did you at any time sip the water? (No!) Did you see some liquid in the glass? (Can't remember). Was there any thoughts in your mind to drink the water, any at all ? (can't remember). Was the glass transparent? (Yes). Was the glass clean or dirty? ....
An alert and unnervous witness is best to ask questions in return to make the inquisitors just as exasperated : Can you repeat your question? (sure...), Can you speaker louder (or softer, less aggressive?) Can you make your questions easier for understanding? Can you be more direct in your questioning? (sure...), Can you speak in simpler terms or in English (or in Malay, Tamil, Mandarin, etc)... If all things fail, just make a simple request: "I wish to go to the toilet! It's urgent!" : )

The comments are so far mild, his cognitive appreciation of this process is darn SHALLOW, I would not hesitate to say he also has weak command of English, using phrasal words but unable to apply it conjunctively, so failing his understanding of many of the words, contextually..
It's not our prerogative to say how the WP selects or appoints its leaders, however, it must never be empty of the understanding that it must do due diligence, in establishing some system of criteria for roles and to hold office positions, to assure the constituents it can function and professionally discharge all the responsibilities it purports to serve its constituents. In light of this, its leaders must therefore be more than able to articulate or proposition needs and concerns of its constituents in Parliament, if not only to further the legitimacy of an Opposition presence in Singapore's Parliament.
This so-called "wayang" has been coined by many of the informed public, but from the testimonies of other WP members, which now has been proven that it wasn't vindictive, as many people has made it out to be. Edwin's adept questioning has brought out relevancy and some complicity of the WP leadership has in the impugned integrity as a Parliamentarian, which now includes several WP leadership members, and their direct roles in maintaining and ultimately lead to an extended tenure of Raeesah's lie to Parliament. Shamefully, it is now veering into a clownish expose, or should I say moronic "I will not answer that question" show of lack of qualified substance in the WP stable.. Not wayang anymore, the fish is out of water and flapping... Mr Faisal shouldn't be re-instated as a Parliamentarian , enough drama.

Seriously, the WP, and for that matter any credible political party, should exercise QC and judgement in its choice of leadership and not just pick any bloke who is more aggressive and articulate in their opinions. The failure would have dire consequence for the party , and , no less, the Country.

It is really worrying whenever I see members of the parliament having so much difficulty in speaking. Not just Faisal but Don Wee too. But that aside, Faisal agreed on all logical and reasonableness the series of things that should have occurred but didn’t because he trusted Pritam. He has more concern over the comments they received on a parliamentary speech that affected the Muslim community than a lie that affected the police and sexual assault victims. And as a leader, he has trouble seeing the conflict of interest and how not disclosing the leader’s involvement since Aug has a significant impact in the outcome. It’s even more worrying that that his logic is warped.

"Do you agree that it was not white, but a shade of grey? (Arrrrh!)
Can you tell me what the witness's "perspective" is? How can I know her perspective? Can you tell me why the witness lie? (how could I know). Ok, can you think of a good reason why she lie? (I can't think about it !) Ok then, you can think now! (Arrrh! I need to go toilet! It's urgent!)

This issue should not doubt the creditability of WP. Every political party has a black sheep in them. Till the end WP is standing by their comrade. Salute to them. What Ms. Khan did is a terrible mistake which should be punish by the Court of Law (lying in Parliament) as an MP. That has brought the whole WP to face the COP and the scrutiny of the public.

Edwin Tong is too damn arrogant. His way of questioning is bordering on harassment and threatening.. Faisal Manap is totally being extra cautious when answering people like him as the panel which is made up of majority of the ruling party will definitely be trying to direct their questioning to suit their way of thinking.. not everyone reacts and feels the sane way given the same situation.I totally understand why and how the 3 WP leaders react the way they did.. it’s RK who was sneaky and cunning to catch them by surprise with her sequence of admissions to the party leaders.. she’s a serial liar!!

Good job Faisal Manap. You have made use of this hearing to share with us how the WP govern.
Every MP's speech is vetted through by others and every input is considered before a speech is delivered. It is however the MP who makes the final decision as she is voted in by her constituents.
Every cadre member knows where he stands and does not overstep his boundary. They respect the judgement of the leader when it affects the entire party. And that is how it should be.
On the other hand, the leader of the ruling party wants to transform an Indian into a Malay. No debate is allowed. The rest just say, "yes boss. Consider it done".

To the point you can't carry out your disciplinary duties and worst, cannot even realize and remember what your coworkers were saying throughout the whole session? How can this guy be a senior member in the party? Seriously, a member of disciplinary panel stunned by admission of misconduct? wth.. That's like policemen stunned at people committing crimes and don't know what to do, or firemen stun at fire outbreaks and just stood there not trying to put out the fire.

Goodness.....the more he says to try and justify his answers, the deeper he digs his own grave. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to know what you should do when faced with the situation as posed by Ms Khan's lie and the events thereafter. Even I would know the logical, the correct, the ethical, the moral, thing to do, and I'm not even a university graduate. If this guy, like that, can be a MP and a senior member of a political party, then I think I should easily be capable of a position more senior than him. He shouldn't be getting a five-figure MP allowance from us taxpayers.
