    • @nem0763
      @nem0763 8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

Are you really sure of that? I remember the convoy being pretty radical about immediately removing lockdowns and repealing vaccine mandates.
Let's imagine: Trudeau goes down to talk for 30 minutes. He says, "what you're asking for absolutely won't happen, but consider yourselves heard." You think the convoy leaders would say, "Well, he talked to us, so I'm satisfied. Let's stop holding this city hostage now" ?
If meaningful consultation took place, it would have dragged out for _months,_ probably until the end of the crisis stage of the pandemic when their demands would cease to matter. And that would not have been a tenable situation for Ottawans.
Did Trudeau handle it the right way? No. But the convoy were not a force for good in this country, and they certainly wouldn't have been pacified by "30 minutes to talk," let's be serious.

Those outside Canada are unaware of the ceasing of control and ransom that Canadians have been held under. Trudeau was being protected by another leftist party and the leader of that party has been forcing Canadians to wait, by blocking efforts to topple his government. This leader, Jagmeet Signh is eligible for his 2.2 million dollar pension in February. That’s what he was waiting for. His greed and corruption also is what held Canada hostage under this tyranny of Trudeau.
It’s a complex weave of just utter authoritarianism from 2 woke radicals that put their interests and party interests before Canada.

As a Canadian, this is a pretty surface level but accurate overview of what has happened in my country over the Trudeau period. I would recommend this to non-Canadians to get the basics.
I think that Trudeau's time has definitely come. There was a lengthy string of scandals leading up to this point, and by the end of his time as prime minister, a lot of his most qualified advisors and ministers had already left, some in pretty spectacular fashion.
That's generally a bad sign for a leader in itself. But as the cost of living kept going up after the pandemic, and after housing prices rose to incredibly high levels, a lot of the Canadian people really soured on him too.
I'm not satisfied with Polievre as a possible replacement, but Trudeau cannot stay on as leader at bare minimum. I hope the replacement for the Liberals is someone who can salvage some of what is likely to be a disastrous election later this year.

You might be American, and you might be thinking about Canada in American terms, so I should lay out why your analysis here makes no sense, probably because of that.
In Canada, the prime minister is just one member of parliament of 338, or about 152 in the current Liberal government. The executive is not a separate branch of government like they are in the United States. The party members elect the leader, who becomes prime minister when their party wins the most seats. The prime minister is always elected in their riding to be a member of parliament too, which is the pretty equivalent to being elected a Congressman in a congressional district.
It would be a bit like if there was no separate American president and the House majority leader became the president instead.
Because of this, when the prime minister resigns, there still has to be a prime minister while a leadership campaign happens within the Liberal Party to replace him. He can't just resign and there not be a prime minister. They still have to do the duties of their office. There's no vice president that automatically takes Trudeau's place if he goes suddenly.
This process will probably take about 1-2 months. Once a leader is picked, then Trudeau will let the new Liberal leader replace him.
There's nothing shady going on here. This is a normal part of Canadian politics.

He needed to change his approach after the pandemic but instead doubled down on the things that were not seen as helping, and in some cases making the problems worse such as punitive taxes. I hope the new Liberal leader can take on some "right issues" by dropping some hard left policies that are not seen as helping such as taking firearms from legal owners and not actually fighting crime , dropping or delaying the carbon tax system as an examples.

It doesn't discuss any of his policy achievements (e.g. legalizing marijuana) and omits the two main scandals (his trip to India and the SNC Lavallin scandal) that really marked a turning point for his popularity in Canada.

Also leaves out the use of the emergencies act, which was a huge low for Canada. Anyone who was acting illegally during the protest could have and should have been prosecuted/ held accountable under existing laws. There was no reason to take such extreme measures against your own citizens.
