LMW was just questioning why LHY was named but not those in the KOM case, and so bringing in another case, Karl Liew's case, would muddy the waters, would confuse the comparison between just the 2 cases. Basically, he did not say Karl Liew's case is irrelevant (for a discussion in a broader context), but it may be irrelevant to the comparison when you just want to compare the 2 cases specifically. So whether it is relevant, it depends on whether you are trying to discuss at a broader context or whether you just want to focus on comparing the 2 cases.

This is clearly a matter between the Lees and does not involve the Office of the Prime Minister. Clearly the Government’s involvement has complicated this family issue and muddied the situation.

On the contrary, I think the speaker was really being too kind already, Mr Leong seriously kept disrupting the flow and repeating what had just been discussed. And the craziest thing is what he said near the end, I can't believe that sort of word can come out in a parliamentary debate.
